*~----------~*~----------~*A solid black female Beta with scrolled heart markings wiggled her tailfin back and forth and fluttered her side fins. She was blushing quite rosy under her black scales and seemed to be trying to suppress a smile. Finally, she swam quickly to a corner of her tank and took a piece of driftwood and a short, sharp stick between her fins and began to write. Sigh Dear Diary,
Today was my first day back at the Beta Aquarium HQ. While I was exploring, I met a male. She paused, blushing deeper before shaking her head briskly and getting back to writing. Sigh He came up and said hello to me. I said hello back, and then things got a little awkward, I guess. He started blushing a lot and stuttering, and that made me feel nervous because I thought I'd done something to make him uncomfortable, or maybe there was food on my face or seaweed stuck in my fins or something, but he actually said that I was pretty. Sigh stopped again, her smile broadening in spite of herself, and she gave her head another shake and continued. Sigh I've always thought myself a bit plain to be attractive, but he said it so nervously. Even though he said that he'd never been around someone so pretty before, he seemed very sincere. I guess there's nothing wrong with feeling pretty. ^_^
Come to think of it, he was very nice-looking, himself. He had sky blue scales all over his body, yellow fins with green stars all over, and a marking with rainbow colors. I wonder if he thinks of himself as pretty, because I do. He's very nice-looking. He had really pretty blue eyes, too. At this, Sigh blushed even more and bit her lower lip. She paused, as if pondering whether or not to write more. Finally, she finished up with a few more lines. Sigh I wonder if I will see him again sometime soon. He seems like a very nice Beta to get to know.
I should probably try harder to make some new friends!
...Oh dear! I completely forgot to introduce myself to him! I was too nervous about meeting him at first and I forgot. I guess that's a bad thing about my being so shy.... I wonder if he'll even remember me.... Well, from what he said, I don't think that will be a problem. I hope I will see him again so I can at least learn his name and tell him mine. I have to remember next time!

What? o.o *pushed in by Zane*Niji: *Spies a fish being shoved in there direction and leans over to Shoshun* *whispers* So little Shoshun is that your pretty fish? Today I had a chance to see the Beta I met yesterday again. He came with his uncle Niji, and I found out his name was Shoshun. I remembered to introduce myself this time!
I feel very nervous when I'm around him... but I can tell he's nervous around me, too. It's kind of a funny situation, isn't it? Two pretty Beta who can't stand to be around each other.... Well, I hope we can get to know each other a little better soon so it won't always be this awkward. I'll just have to try to be a little more outgoing.

I met Shoshun again today and he said some really sweet things to me... I feel like I should be cautious, since I don't know very much about him yet... but he seems so sincere. I think it's amazing that he can feel so strongly about me after only a couple of days....
I'm really touched by his feelings, but I don't know how I feel about him yet.... I think I should try to get to know him better. Here's hoping we can get to know each other better tomorrow!

Looking flustered and more troubled than she had the last time she wrote in her diary, Sigh nibbled on the end of her writing stick a little before penning her thoughts.Sigh Dear Diary,
Nathan had been teaching me to dance, not the way that Zane dances, but... a kind of prettier dance. I'm not very good at it yet, but Nathan says I'm catching on well. I still think my rhythm is off.
Some time last month, Zane bred with Pink Floyd, a brightly colored rocker Beta. He seemed to have been looking forward to it up until a few weeks before they were scheduled to breed... and after that, he looked very embarrassed and meek. I wonder what happened? Since then, he's been practicing his glowstick tricks twice as much.
Zane and Pink Floyd had three precious babies. The two girls are Glowstick and Pop Rocks, and the boy was named Daft Punk. They're flashy little things, but they're so gorgeous. They grew up so fast! It seems like only yesterday they were hatchlings. Pop Rocks has become such a tease! When she decides to stir up trouble, it's hard business getting her off your tail! Sometimes I avoid her on purpose, just to spare me the headache.
Nathan recently went and bred with Tessio, a male clownfish Beta with red and green christmas patterns, reindeer horns, and golden jingle bells. I love the sound of bells~ Anyhow, Nathan came back with two eggs. He said there were four, but it seems the other two are staying with Tessio. They're the most darling little things~ They're just as cute as Pop Rocks and Daft Punk used to be in the egg. I wonder what they'll look like when they hatch?
Nathan likes to have me watch over his little ones while he's training. I've been reading them children's stories like Cinderella, The Little Engine That Could, and things like that. I'm not sure whether or not they like it... I'm not very good at reading babies' expressions. For all I know, they could be angry that I'm keeping them awake while they're trying to sleep in their eggs.... I hope not. I guess I'll find out when they hatch!
Nathan came back once while I was in the middle of reading, but I was so into the story that I didn't even notice him until he tapped my shoulder. It felt like my heart jumped clear out of my body! He just smiled at me and said he'd like to read to the children with me sometime. He seems like such a sweet father. I hope someday when I have eggs, they'll have a father just as sweet.

Sigh Dear Diary,
A lot of things have changed since I last wrote.
Nathan's two eggs hatched into little Christmasy terrors named Noelle and Cinnamon.
Noelle was a talkative little fry, always babbling about how she was waiting for her hero to come and take her away to live happily ever after. When she grew to adulthood, she started complaining about how she thought she might never meet anyone and how she might end up an old maid. I thought it was the silliest thing... there's plenty of time to meet people and settle down, as long as we're willing to go out and experience the world. Noelle is usually so much more outgoing and optimistic, it was really out of character to hear her worry so much about that sort of thing. She has a point, though... we both need to start getting out more and meeting new people.
Cinnamon rarely complains about anything, although he can get really obnoxious about some things. I really hope he'll settle down some time with a nice girl... but sometimes I can't help but worry about what nice girl would settle for a ladychaser like Cinna!
Since Noey and Cinna have grown, Nathan has devoted a lot more time to keeping them in line. I haven't really had all that much time to exchange more than a few words with him.
There have also been some other new arrivals. It's been a while, so I don't remember who came first. Gillian joined the tank shortly after Valentine's Day and made herself quite at home. She's been very friendly, especially with the males... it makes me feel just a little awkward to be around her. I suppose it would be good for me to become more outgoing and make an effort to get to know some other Beta as well.
The other new arrival is Guang YingXiong. His name is kind of hard to remember how to say properly... I think that's why he lets us call him Ying. I admire Ying so much... he is always polite and courteous, and has very elegant speech. I wish I could behave myself as beautifully as he does. I can't help but feel that I'm troubling him sometimes, though... every now and then he disappears from the tank and comes back when everyone is getting ready to sleep. He never speaks an unkind or disrespectful word to anyone, as far as I've heard, though. What a wonderfully cultivated Beta!
Just a night or two ago, he came back to the tank looking all flustered and sequestered himself in his section of the tank, keeping very quiet. I wonder what happened to him? I wonder where he goes and what he does when he leaves the tank.

Starting p. 11,420 of the main thread.SillyAngelKitty Yoshi swam around the main tank hiding brightly colored pebbles in various places. He wiggled his nose while carrying around the basket of pebbles. He had fairly odd behavior for a beta. Silver Angel Pop Rocks swam to and fro, bobbing her head in the water as she sang. "This is your night, everything is right, come light up my life, it's a summer night~" Her song was bright and peppy, but it seemed a little odd, since it was obviously the middle of the day. SillyAngelKitty Yoshi blinked then looked up at Pop Rocks. He started twitching his nose to the beat of her music then went back to hiding his brightly colored pebbles. Silver Angel When she finally noticed another Beta swimming nearby, Pop Rocks diminished her singing to a light-spirited humming and wiggled over to see what he was doing. "Hi!" she chirped brightly. "What'cha doin'?" SillyAngelKitty Yoshi wiggled his nose at Pop Rocks. "I'm hiding pebbles!! They for all the good boy and girl beta to find." He said cheerfully. He picked out a pretty one just for her and gave it to her. "Here you go!! A pretty one for you!!" Silver Angel Pop Rocks couldn't help but giggle as the other Beta wiggled his bunny nose. "Thank you," she said as she accepted the pebble, "I'm kinda curious, though. How do you know if I've been a good Beta?" SillyAngelKitty Yoshi thought a moment. "Well I honestly dunno. But I think most beta are good. You look like a good beta to me." He twitched one of his ears. "My name is Yoshi. Kinda rude of me not to say something. What's yours?" Silver Angel Giggling again, Pop Rocks tossed her pebble from one fin to the other and answered "My name's Pop Rocks. Nice to meet you, Yoshi." SillyAngelKitty Yoshi smiled at Pop Rocks. "So what your family like?? I have six others that I live with." He peers around. "Theres another bunny like me but she thinks I am strange." He thought a moment. "You got any new babies around? I like babies!!! Hideki and Sango are spose to be having some babies. I think." He twitched his nose thoughtfully. Silver Angel Pop Rocks was a little surprised at Yoshi's very direct question. "I've got-!" Her smile faded a little as she pursed her lips in thought. "Let's see... Well, I have a brother and a sister, and two dads... and there's my aunt Sigh and aunt Dani..." She paused and took a deep breath, laughing a little at herself. "Well, there's my family and then there's the other Beta in our tank system. All together, we're about... fourteen? But we don't all talk to each other a whole lot, and sometimes I don't see my siblings or my other dad at all. It makes my daddy at home sad sometimes." SillyAngelKitty Yoshi frowned a bit. "So no babies in your tanks either? I like to play with them. They chew on my ears!!!" He brightened up and put down his basket. "I see my family all the time. We live in a big pond with lots and lots of plants!!! I like to play hide and seek. Do you like to play too??" Silver Angel "Nope, no babies," Pop Rocks answered, mirroring Yoshi's frown. "The last baby we had was Amalita, and she's already grown up." She brightened at the same times as Yoshi did and smiled. "Sure, I like hide and seek. I used to play it with Amalita all the time. She got so good at it she scared me to bits sometimes." She stopped tossing her pebble between her fins and instead began running it along the narrow bridge of her nose. The result was that her eyes crossed and her mouth fell open in a little 'o'. SillyAngelKitty Yoshi giggled and pulled a bit of extra yummy fish flake surpize out of his basket and popped it into Pop Rocks mouth. "This stuff is so yummy!!! It's ummm special blend my owner gets us." He popped some in his mouth and chewed on it happily. He swallowed his bite then grinned. "Wanna play? I love to play!! I useta play with the others but they well think they are to grown up to play any more." He frowned. He really had not had a good playmate in a long time. Maybe this beta would like to be his playmate. Silver Angel Her crossed eyes snapped back to look at Yoshi as he put something in her mouth. "Hmm...mmm~!" She nodded at him, chewing slowly to fully enjoy the flavor. "It's good." When she had finished her food, she brought her pebble back down between both her fins and giggled. "That depends. Who's doing the hiding and who's doing the seeking?" SillyAngelKitty Yoshi grinned happily. "Ohhhh you can pick who does the hiding and the seeking!! You know ladies get first choice." He wiggled his nose happily at her. He did a little bit of a bounce in his excitement. "I don't care what I get to do just as long as I get to play with you. I haven't had anybody to play with for along time!!" Silver Angel A mischievous twinkle in her eye evidenced the impulse Pop Rocks was having. "In that case..." She floated in front of him for a second as if trying to make up her mind, when all of the sudden she darted forward and kissed him on the cheek. "You're it!" she giggled like mad and swished off to find somewhere to hide. SillyAngelKitty Yoshi blushed brightly. Ohhh it was his first kiss. He wiggled his nose a bit dumbfounded by the fact the other beta just kissed him. A pretty one at that since he thought of himself as not so pretty. He started giggling and doing his strange little hop as he hid his eyes with his fin and counted. "One...Two...Three...Four...Five..." He like Pop Rocks she was fun and nice to him unlike other beta.

[RP starting on p. 10232 of main Beta thread]Celestial Archer Sachiko swam out of her coral house and headed off to where the sea beds were. She hummed to herself as she went. Silver Angel Yawning widely, Gillian fluffed her fins and preened in the calm waters. "Mhmm~" she said to herself. "What shall we do today, I wonder? Stay in? Explore? Why not... let's have a little adventure, shall we?" With one last flick of her tail, she swam off hoping to run into something--or someone--exciting. Celestial Archer Sachiko continues to swim and hum, then she spots some white stones on the sea floor and swims to pick them up. "Wow, I don't have any this color in my collection. I'll just take you with me" Silver Angel Gillian swam this way and that, keeping her fins splayed in a manner that might attract the attention of anyone who might be watching. She heard the sound of someone else's voice. "Curious. Someone else who has the habit of talking to themselves, perhaps?" She giggled merrily to herself and swam in the direction of the sound. Celestial Archer Sachiko swam up from the bottom with her new white pebble and nearly hit another fish "Woe sorry about that, I almost toppled you" she smiled and laughed a little.."Sorry thats not really funny" Silver Angel As she swam closer and closer, the source of the sound soon came into view... very quickly into view! Gillian did a backflip in the water to avoid being bumped and found herself facing another female Beta. She laughed as well. "Oh, no, it's all right. Little accidents happen all the time, you know?" Celestial Archer "Yea they seem to follow me everywhere. I guess it’s my curse or something. Oh by the way my names Sachiko but you can call me Hiko for short. What’s your name?" Silver Angel Gillian giggled a little more at Sachiko's comment. "My names Gillian, or Gilly, for short." She made a silly little face at her nickname. "I like Hiko, though... it's cute!" she said, winking at the other Beta. Celestial Archer She was taken aback a bit when she said her name. "You wouldn't happen to be the same Gillian I have a breeding with would you?" she almost totally forgot the complement "Oh and thanks" Silver Angel Gillian raised a fin to her lower lip, thinking. "Oh, I suppose you're right." She giggled and lowered her fin again. "What a fortunate coincidence, running into you like this." Smiling, she discreetly let her eyes wander over the other Beta's patterning and fins. Quite pretty, if she did say so herself. Celestial Archer "I guess you’re right, it looks like my luck might be changing for the better I might add." she was still holding the white pebble, she looked at it and then back at Gillian "I love the flame mark under your eye" Silver Angel "Oh, why thank you," Gillian giggled, tracing a fin over the blue mark. "I have to say, I really do love the gold in your fins. It looks almost as if they were gilded. Quite classy," she nodded.
Finally noticing the thing the other female Beta was holding, Gillian tilted her head to the side. "What's that you've got there?" Celestial Archer Sachiko looked at the white pebble in her fin "Oh this? It’s a white pebble, I like to collect different colored pebbles. I found it before I almost hit you. " Mercury Twins Mami: where is everyone? Harmony: stays in shadows away from all where she finds herself safe Silver Angel Gillian looked at the pebble admiringly. "It's pretty," she said. "Almost shiny, with the way the light's hitting it." Danica Nova was feeling a little strange. She had thought about a lot of things since the last time she had met up with her mother Lunalesca, and some of the things she'd thought before about breeding had changed. She decided to go for a swim to see if she could clear her mind. Mercury Twins Mami:swims up to Dancia Nova "Hi im Mami Harmony:"i should atleast get to know some people but what if they dont like me" swims out slowly Silver Angel Danica Nova: *stops swimming and blinks in surprise* "Oh... hello, my name's Danica Nova." She smiled a little, trying to forget what she was thinking about earlier. "You can call me Dani if you like." Mercury Twins Mami: hi Dani wait a minute!!!um... never mind Celestial Archer She moved the pebble from side to side "Hey your right it kinda does, thats neat. I found them down there..." she pointed to the spot on the sea floor where she had been before "...if you want to get one of your own" she smiled she like this beta and was happy that the breeding she would have with her wouldn't be on bad terms. Silver Angel Dani: *raises an eyebrow* Is there something wrong? *couldn't shake the feeling she's heard the name before* Have I... met you before?A little mesmerized as she watched Sachiko flip the pebble, Gillian nodded without thinking before looking down at the sea floor. "Oh... I suppose I could do with a hobby like pebble collecting." She giggled a little, swimming down to look at the selection, as if the pebbles were jewelry on display. "I wonder what kind I should get?" Mercury Twins Mami: i don't think so but i think I've heard you before if i did i probably wasn't listening like usually Harmony: swims around looking at everyone having a good time "why do i have to be so shy" Silver Angel Dani: You've heard of me before...? *her perplexed expression soon turned to one of worry* I think that can only mean one thing... *she gulps a little nervously* We probably have a breeding together. *worries a little because she didn't make a good first impression* Iris: *swims in with her hands behind her back and hums to herself, looking for new friends* Mercury Twins Mami: yup i remember now that it she says in a nervous voicy * i wounder if i made a good impression* Harmony:*another fish and she seems to be humming a wonderful tune* "i wish i could do that "she said in a whisper Celestial Archer She pointed to a couple "I was looking at this one when I chose this one" she flipped her pebble some more. Silver Angel Dani: *clears her throat nervously* Well... I've heard good things and bad things about breeding and I don't know what to think anymore. I have two tankmates who had really good breedings, but I just found out from one of my parents that she isn't getting along so well with my other mother anymore. I guess I'm a little scared of what might happen if I breed. Iris: *spots Harmony and decides to swim over* Hi... *she speaks a little shyly and sweeps some of her hair behind her ear* My name's Iris, what's yours? If you want to pick a different one thats cool too though." she smiled to let her know that she was ok with it. Dani: Yeah. *smiles* In my tank most of us just keep to ourselves and don't talk to each other very much. It's nice to have privacy, but sometimes you really just feel like you need to spend time with someone else. Iris: *brings a hand up and rests her head on it thoughtfully* That is an idea... Do you really think I could get some like yours some day? *her smile softens a little when Harmony mentions she feels alone* Your wings look really special, though. They kind of make you stand out from the other Beta. But just because you’re different doesn’t mean you have to feel alone. Mercury Twins Mami: that’s just like the tank I live in and we never really get out to talk cause there is almost no one here!!! Harmony: "thank you and you’re right just because I’m different doesn't mean I should feel alone but that’s not why I feel alone well I’m very shy so I don't talk much and when I even try to talk to anyone they swim away, and yes I do believe you could get wings like mine someday" Silver Angel Danica Nova: In my tank, hardly anyone wants to talk to anyone else, anyway... they're always doing their own thing. Most of the younger ones either play all day or talk about getting mated, and the older ones who have already bred before spend all day preparing for their next match or talking about breeding again. It's almost the only thing I hear about. Iris: *giggles suddenly* "I know what you mean." *she starts playing with her hair again out of habit* "I was the first Beta in my tank and after I hatched from my egg, I didn't know very many other Beta, so I was also very shy." *looks up at Harmony* Sometimes, though... if you really want to make friends... you have to take a step of faith and go find someone to be friends with. Mercury Twins Mami: I know what you mean but there are no eggs or fries in my tank were all adults but we all have different personality and Ranma he’s the only boy in the tank! Chuckling a little as she looked over the patterns again, she added, "I would never have dared to dream I'd breed into a princess's family." Celestial Archer "My mom doesn't make a big deal about so now of us really do either, my father was a soldier in the army and was stationed at my mom’s palace and they fell in love, he has told me numerous times that he never thought he'd be able to marry her. My scales, you think they are really that gorgeous?" she blushed a little. Silver Angel Nodding, Gillian reached out a fin to gently touch Sachiko's. "I do think so," she said, laughing that bubbly laugh again. "My... such a prominent family. I've heard one of my fathers was something of a fighter, too, although I've never really met them. Celestial Archer "Well thank you." she tilted her head "Prominent family?" she looked puzzled "I'm confused, what make my family prominent? Do you miss not knowing your fathers?" Silver Angel Gillian put a fin to her own chin, thinking. "Well, I don't know," she admitted. "They just sound like important people, what with your father being in the army and your mother being a princess and all." She shrugged at Sachiko's next question. "Not really. I mean... you can't really miss what you haven't tried, right?" She laughed at herself. "Maybe that's not a very good way to put it..." Celestial Archer "I guess they are important, well at least to me they are, but I've never really seen them at work and that doesn't really come home with them so I don't really know how important they are to other people." she sighed maybe I should know this stuff "Well that makes since I guess since you've never really met them. Sorry I asked" Silver Angel "Oh, no, it's not a problem!" she reassured Sachiko, raising her chin with her free fin and smiling. "Don't fret. I'm sure if I met them they'd be great fathers, I'm just not the type who gets lonely." She winked at the other Beta. Celestial Archer "Oh well thats good, I can't be lonely since I have 7 siblings and a few nieces and nephews." she smiled. Silver Angel Gillian's mouth fell open in a wide "o" of surprise. Not just an important family, but a large one, as well! "Wow..." she breathed, chuckling. "I don't think I've ever met anyone else in my family, but you... you've got quite a family!" She winked at Sachiko again and giggled. "With any luck, Hiko, we'll be adding to it soon." Celestial Archer "Yea I am the youngest of 8, yes soon you will be adding to that, although it may be more of a shock to your family then mine" she laughed. Silver Angel "Hmm, that may very well be," Gillian laughed. "My tankmates are slowly but surely having little families of their own, though. I have a feeling none of us will have the luxury of being alone again soon." Celestial Archer "Well thats good as long as you get along with them, that always helps" Silver Angel "We get along well enough," Gillian smiled, rolling her pebble to the end of her fin before rolling it back and tossing it through the water and catching it with her other fin. "I daresay we'll have a tank full of ready babysitters when the time comes." She chuckled and cradled the pebble like an egg to emphasize her point. Celestial Archer "Well my siblings would be willing to babysit since I did for them, so I don't think babysitters are a problem" she giggled. Silver Angel Gillian couldn't help marveling again at the family she was going to breed into. "Maybe I ought to meet them sometime," she said. Then she grinned. "Well, I suppose I will, once the children come along."

Beta soap opera starring Zane, Pink Floyd, and Lukas... featuring Glowstick and AmyDevil NightShade Glowstick: *darts in and up to her daddy Zane* daddy! some little brat form one of daddy Flyod's other breedings called me a thing and tried to beat me up! crying Flyod: *swims up behind Zane and wraps his arms around the other's back and sighs still pissed due to the drama* Cereza del Chocolate Lukas- *swims towards Flyod's tank* *peeks in slowly* Silver Angel Zane: *blinks and sighs* I was afraid that was going to happen, but I never wanted to think about it. *cuddles his family comfortingly* Not everyone understands your daddy the way we do, so they're not as accepting. Main Thread RP between Art and Tamaki starting at the bottom of p.14718Lady Evelon Art sits in a cornor away from everyone else hiding behind her scetch book as she draws in it. SillyAngelKitty Splash swims up behind Art then peers over her shoulder at her sketchbook. "Whatcha doing?" Lady Evelon Art Imedently panics and swims over to anotehr dark conror scared. Silver Angel Tamaki feels his intuition pulling him towards a quiet part of the tank and follows it to find a young lady sitting alone. Smiling grandly, he pulls out a red rose and delicately holds it before the young lady's face. "Ah, Princess... what is a rare beauty like you doing hidden from the eyes of admirers?"Lady Evelon (thats ok you just saw what happens if she is aproched to fast.) She looks at him and hides behind her book. "I dont do well among others." She says. SillyAngelKitty Splash blinks as she swims off. "Sorry lady." He called after her. He watched as Tamaki swam over to her then shrugged. "Now wha can I do?" Silver Angel Tamaki's eyes widen in surprise and he draws back a little, shaking his head. "Ah, but how can a being so marvelous not be adored in the eyes of others?" He bows a little and holds the rose out gain, smiling all the while.Lady Evelon "I'm not that great." She says quietly while actully scetching him. she obviously is not only skittish but not very high on self esteem. (and to think I am tryign to find her a mate.) Silver Angel Seeing that her hands are already full and there is nowhere to place the rose, Tamaki continues to hold it, turning the stem slowly as he ponders her strange remark. "Of course you are, princess! But how could you know that, having no one around to admire you? Like a great work of art, its worth is only seen when there are people to appreciate it." He holds the rose aloft as he speaks, his natural charm seeming to sparkle around him. Lady Evelon She giglges slytly at what hse said about art since that happens to be her name as well. She then takes the rose figuring it is rude not to take it and places it beside her. Silver Angel Becoming quite pleased with himself that she has accepted the rose, Tamaki bows again with a flourish. "Forgive me for forgetting my manners. My name is Tamaki, and I am honored to be among the first of your patrons. And surely this magnificent masterpiece has a title?" He gestures to her with a hand. Lady Evelon "You already said my name. it's Art." She states scetching him agian. Silver Angel Smiling brilliantly, Tamaki closed the distance between them and looked deeply into Art's eyes. "What a perfect name for such a breathtaking beauty."Lady Evelon Art blushes. "I am just called that because of the pattern on me it is that of a painting done long ago called Starry Night by a man named Van Gogh." Silver Angel "Ah yes, I am familiar..." Stepping back a pace to admire the painting across Art's form, Tamaki smiles again. "It really is a striking work, masterfully reproduced in your brilliant scales." Lady Evelon "I guess it does." She says.
