aftermathA silent nod acknowledged her statements, but he didn't offer anything further, mostly not knowing what to say. Eve's apology, however, garnered a slight look of confusion, brows knitting over his uncertain gaze. "Wrong? There was no way any of us could have known how to prepare for Blackfriar's." Lucas wasn't quite following, but he was trying to give Eve the space to say everything and anything on her mind. "Hopefully it wont be a repeat performance every full moon, but there's only so much we can do with minimal information."

no tea for the enemy"Not in the slightest." Jeremiah met her gaze, eyes intent and expression even. He eventually raised a hand and scratched briefly at his throat - where it had scratched him. "With what has happened it's a little less absurd sounding now but I had forgotten about it until just now ..." He shook his head. "You remember the flyers?" The ones that had said IT WALKS, the ones that had appeared after that first time people had gone missing.

aftermath"I suppose you're right. The Prideful One barely gave us anything to go by." Eve looked back up, her expression still generally unpleasant. Had there really been no time for even a simple warning? "We have time to learn more now, though. What we can find, anyway. And you can get us to the other side without much trouble now, right?" no tea for the enemyThe tension was broken for a second as Eve gave a mirthful, wicked-sounding laugh upon Jer's answer: it burst out of nowhere, lingered for a good four or five seconds at a volume that filled the whole shop, and faded away as quickly and suddenly at it had appeared. "Well..." she mused, giving a loose gesture towards shelves lined with hand-labeled airtight containers, "it looks like I have my wards all set up, then." She leaned in a bit at the mention of the fliers, nodding a bit as she recalled their appearance.

aftermathThere was a bitter taste in his mouth at the mention of The Prideful One, and it showed in the furrow of his brow and the quirk of the corner of his lips. "No, neither he nor Lady were of a great help." He knew Eve liked the red-head, but his statement was said from experience rather than the heart. They'd had weeks of the possibility of being told, and...nothing. His expression melted into a vague sort of hesitance, and he nodded, once. "I can. In case Lady doesn't make an appearance." cibarium with edits for days

no tea for the enemyJeremiah couldn't help but chuckle as well. "Yes, you may in fact be in the safest place in town. Also probably have the best taste in wards." There was that wry amused smile that Eve was familiar with. "It was the fliers that lead me to him. I took them to other ashdown and the moment I touched them ..." His shoulders rolled a bit at the memory. "He was behind me sounding every bit like my father." Which knowing what Eve would about Jeremiah's father - No, it was not a good thing.

aftermathEve nodded, and reached over to touch Lucas's hand again. The look of hesitation hadn't gone unnoticed. "I'm not asking for the details," she assured. "Especially if it was a hard choice. I trust you on this." no tea for the enemyOn fire. Appeared unexpectedly. Condescending with a tad of misogyny -- my dear girl -- "Did this being also not want you to turn around?"

aftermath"The choice was easy," he replied softly, his fingers curling automatically against hers, "I'd do anything to keep us safe." Lucas exhaled, and his body seemed to sag with the effort. Taking his phone out of his pocket, he explained quietly, "I found out a little more information about us - the Moonwalkers. I'm going to text-to-speech the others, so they know too." He paused, thumb hovering over the touch screen. The hesitation returned, and when he spoke, his words were slow and careful. "If you knew something horrible, something that could hurt people just in the knowledge of it, would you share that information? Or would you think it better that it not be known?"

no tea for the enemy"... yes." Jeremiah looked at her. "Likes to," a breath, "refer to you as my dear-" He immediately cut off, lips pressed to a thin line. "Did you run into it, Eve?" She looked alright, however, and that was a good thing.

aftermathThere was a moment of intimate quiet as Eve considered the question, before deciding on a reply: "I think that's a matter of informed consent. If the other person believes it's worth the risk, that's when you tell them." no tea for the enemy"Yes... I must have. It gave Lily and me a way back to this side of Ashdown after Blackfriar. But mostly because it wanted us out."

no tea for the enemyA blink. "I suppose that it is good but that it wanted you out ..." That was odd and he was not sure what it meant. "If you run into it, be careful. It ... I cannot say for sure if it is responsible but I lost a week's worth of memories after my last encounter and it is ..." Jeremiah looked at her, his expression worried and concerned. "That thing is what put Autumn in the hospital."

aftermathLucas waited, eyes still on the phone. Without a certain answer in his mind, he pushed on. "The information I've learned about us is this: we, the Moonwalkers, are the ones who hold back the dark. We are the ones who are expected to keep the Otherworld from leaking into this one. In the past, the change was treated like a disease, but once it was put under control, the Moonwalkers made themselves protectors. It's up to us to protect those who aren't touched by that place." He closed the message and turned his eyes to Eve. "We had a teacher, but they're gone now. It's up to us to figure out the rest, I guess."
