"It can be a disadvantage to be a lieutenant but it is the time to learn and feel out things. The first weapon you have...is far from a weapon but it gives an idea as to what you may eventually receive. I started out with a paintbrush, simple and not very useful. I had to learn to fight, and be willing to get on the ground if need be. The lack of proper weapon insured that." He'd gone as far as rolling about pulling hair in an alleyway...a dirty one next to a bar. "The brush just got larger when I made Captain. I had to learn to work with a large weapon, something without a blade, in preparation for my weapon as a General." It had him ready to handle the long weapon he had, which was bladed as a General. He wasn't just swinging about some bladed weapon almost slicing up his own people. He'd had the ability, as a Captain and even Lieutenant, to get his feet wet and learn - and grow.
"The weapon as a Lieutenant varies, as does a Captains. I knew someone who as a Lieutenant had little jelly bands, the colored rubber bracelets people used to wear a lot. It went from there and got better. As I said, it gives you a hint to what you may get later on, whether ranged or close in...and maybe more as well. Weapons are, just as our uniforms, decided by something we have no influence on. Fate if you want, or whatever higher power you may believe in. To my knowledge it is not even determined by our Queen - Metalia, from whom we gain our power. I don't believe even she determines the weapon, or the uniform." He thought the uniform, and perhaps the weapons as well, fit each person and who they were...as if the power entering them read them - knew them...and generated the best match to who they were. It was a stretch but with magic who knew, anything was possible.
Nodding his head to the others words he smiled. "I would not let you go without a follow up. That would be inconsiderate of me, among other things. I care about those I bring into the Negaverse, I don't wish any harm to come to you so I prepare you the best I can." Or at least he tried, he always tried.
"When you power up you can summon your weapon by thinking about it. It will come to. You can also summon it if it is knocked away in a fight. It does take energy to do that however." Katya chimed in from where she was, licking a paw and then moving it to one of her ears.
"You have to conserve energy, even as a General." She said, casting her green eyes to Benitoite, watching him nod to her words. "You'll learn that in time as well. You'll do well though." He would be trained and he would do well, he seemed willing to learn and even make Captain soon - that was good! She would help in whatever way she could, as she was just a cat.
"I can help you go over the information on senshi and knights - from the database. We can see which ones are the most dangerous in the database." She could also see if it needed any updates, if Benitoite had run into any listed and noted a change in rank or anything else. It would be a good opportunity for her.
