It was so satisfying to experience the fact that Rodney's arm's had strength in them, that behind the flighty shy exterior there was something strong, held back only by that nature. The fears too were fascinating and he found himself distantly paying attention to the mingled interaction of the weapon and the shield, hazy wild death and peaceful stony solidness.
Butch adapted rapidly to the other man's efforts, compensating the shield along with the defence, denying Sorrow's twisting. Lawrence found himself able to breathe more easily, enough to ask.
"One more twist and then you can take a break."

Rodney was still on the spooked side, but he did give Lawrence an acquiescing tug.
With it, a ripple of power shot up and down Sorrow's chain, the runes flashing white.
Woah, woah, okay, this is....really, a trip, mon~ Sorrow said, sounding strange in Rodney's head. For his own part, Rodney felt like he'd plunged backwards into a stream, like a backwoods baptism.
The whipping howl of Butch's fear raced up his arms, and he wasn't sure if he could smell the dirt of an old grave and feel the frosty breath of something just over his shoulder, or if it was something else.
"I...I feel..."

Lawrence was still close enough to Rodney that he was aware of the proximity, drawn out of his distant focus on senses that was more internal than external by the glimmer of runes. He had forgotten about charges, or at least forgotten that they were something which happened to other people. For him a charge was nothing but a coiled ball of pent up action, a hungry knawing tic which begged to be acted upon and which almost unfailingly was. Right now was one of the very few exceptions to that rule.
"A charge." he said with a serene sort of smile, looking strangely comfortable despite the chains twisted around him and with no outward sign of his own charge other than the mirrored gleam of white runes.
"What does it do?" he asked. "Can I see?"

Rodney let the chain go slack, sliding the hook back into his fist, feeling buzzy the whole time.
The gem hovered near Lawr's chest.
"...It won't...hurt?" he whispered.
No, no mon, it's like, I don't think so. Just like ~ let it happen ~~.
Sorrow sounded almost drugged, but the good feeling stayed with both of them, and using the charge was like letting go of a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. That baptismal feeling rushed away, like someone had pulled the plug on a drain, and he still felt light in the resulting current.
The consistency of the Fear was wet, and splashed from Sorrow's red gem onto Lawr's torso. With it came a transfer of sensation, warm in contrast to the snow and bitterly frosty air, and the floating feeling of being plunged below a river. If it had been actual water, it might have left behind a cold, wet, soggy feeling, but it was less like being dry with a wet shirt, and more like drifting idly in a warm pool. It was a good, bolstering feeling, like the (minor) damage to Lawrence's shield was being gently washed away. The sensation was not brief, but lingered, low and soothing.

Lawrence didn't know what he expected from a fear from Rodney, he wasn't really able to guess short of perhaps something water-based given the flow of back and forth fear. He was not expecting ...well what happened.
He had no idea how to respond to it without offending Rodney or embarrassing him. Instead he opted to not react at all, staring straight ahead with a completely neutral expression, dripping wet and wishing that he had opted to wear any colour but white.
"That felt nice." he said calmly and flatly, finding an odd sense of hilarity bubbling up inside him. "It felt good, Butch liked it."
<> Butch said eagerly, radiating the very idea of full body tail wags.
He looked at his claws. "I don't know if mine would be too potentially scary." He looked at Rodney and finally broke his composure to smile. "Yours was effective but.."
And he finally just succumbed to genuine, hearty laughter.

"Oh, I'm sure...yours would be okay..."
Lawrence lost it, and Rodney turned pink, and then bright red, coming down a bit from the generally charged feeling.
"N...not very good for a fight, is it. It's...it's fine, I guess...I'm kind of relieved..." He held Sorrow closer to him again. "S-sorry. It's not cold, is it?"

Lawr could not stop laughing, just finding the whole situation so absolutely absurd and not understanding why it was so absolutely hilarious.
"No." he said "Not cold. Body temperature.." and he laughed again. "No, no I am sorry." he tried pulling himself together, putting his seriousness back on. "It mended my shield. It was good it was just.... well. Unexpected is all."
He looked dubious. "Erm. Well." and eyeing his claws said. "Normally there's another fear. But Butch doesn't want to bite you."
Not elaborating beyond that he placed both hands gently on Rodney's shoulders and a strange seeping cold seemed to move through him from the claws outwards, not painful and not triggering the brain's normal reactions to cold but just a sensation something akin to mint for the flesh. It smoothed over all the dents in his shield also and left behind a lingering sort of sleepiness, as if it would just be so easy to drift off.
He looked expectant and concerned as he maintained the contact, not sure what he had just done.

Rodney breathed sharply, while his had been more pleasant and gradual, Lawrence's was...all at once. And it did feel good, immediately any weaknesses he had were leeched from his shoulders and then all over, a feeling of relaxed and endings.
"No, it's...it's good," Rodney reported. "Very good, do they all...do that? Just from...?"
Rodney was still red. He was trying not to look at Lawrence's...shirt, but this close there weren't many other places to look.
"Back to...full capacity anyway, I think."

Lawrence looked relieved when Rodney didn't keel over dead or suffer from some horrible poison or anything nasty at all. Butch had never done anything much other than offense and any healing he was capable of had been selfish. This was different and it frankly surprised him.
"Oh good." he said and meant it "I am glad. And no, not all, many fears are unpleasant, my other one well. It saps life and give it to me. I am glad this one does not seem to sap anything.
"Erm. All...done then?" he asked, trying not to titter again for no reason.
"..back indoors?"

"Yes, I think back inside would be best," Rodney said, still red. The chain became a rocky bracelet, and Rodney pulled back his hair again.
He wasn't a fighter, not by a long shot, but it had been...something, anyway.
