She held her breath and swam into the depths of the water. The sea water wasn't as cold as she anticipated it to be, in fact, it felt warm against her skin. After a good swim down to the caves, and thank god for the diving classes she used to take, she was able to reach the crest of the water. She pushed herself out and sat by the solid ground while she gasped for air. It was in the middle of winter and the woman was freezing. It was broad daylight and many may wonder why Zariel was present instead of the angel. The reason was simply because Ynez was too shy to strip down to her undergarments in public. It was necessary because that way, she'd still have clothes to wear after returning to shore. Zariel lifted her now shivering hands and twisted the water out of her hair.
"W-why did you decide to come here in the middle of w-winter-" she stuttered in her speech. At least there wasn't any breeze in this area but her body was still sensitive to the cold nonetheless. Her crimson irises scanned the area, her lips parted slightly as she stared in awe. Just why hasn't she realized such a place exists sooner? It was beyond beautiful and she couldn't find a single word in her vocabulary to describe it.

Jaquinne had spent another sleepless night thinking and consuming coffee. He knew he felt some sort of attraction towards Zariel. She was a beautiful woman, so it was natural. But after an extensive evaluation, he finally realised that he had feelings for the devious devil. Feelings that he had never felt before, but recognised as feelings of love. He loved her. She was smart and beautiful.. And just perfect, in his biased opinion. The blonde had immediately called her up as soon as his clock had deemed it a reasonable hour of the morning. He wanted to meet her at the underwater caves by the beach. He had only ever ventured there once before, when he had just lost Jewel and Jerome. And even then, words failed to come to mind when describing the marvelling beaut of this secret location. With the help of this fairy he had met just days ago, Jaquinne was able to teleport into the underwater caves without getting wet. It was worth the hundred dollars he had wasted on such a simple chance. Hopefully the fairy would put his money to good use. The blonde had brought with him a small backpack. Inside were a pair of large towels, a picnic blanket, a book, two small mugs and a canteen of hot chocolate. It wasn't much but he wanted to surprise Zariel. He went to work right away, laying out the blanket on the damp ground. He folded the towels and set them aside for when she arrived. He pulled out the canteen and the cups, setting them down next to his bag and the towels. With that done, he kicked off his shoes and just sat there. When his raven haired companion finally arrived, his features lit up. He opened his mouth to speak, but froze at the sight of her undergarments. "Here. A towel." He said slowly, holding one of the large, soft towels as he averted his gaze. His cheeks were now blushing a light pink. Zariel never failed to get a reaction out of him. "I-I'm sorry. I just wanted to surprise you." Jaquinne replied calmly, his even tone contradicting the excitement he felt. It wasn't until she was right in front of him, that Jaquinne realised that he had missed Zariel.

She eyed the man who's perfectly dressed without a single drop of water on him. The woman frowned, unsure of how exactly he had gotten here without getting wet. A devious smile curved her lips upon noticing he faint blush spreading across his features. She could've sworn this man had the most adorable reactions. "Aren't you going to admire me in my newly bought Victoria's Secret lingerie like how you did that one morning in your bedroom? Or perhaps.. the bathroom even." the devil teased, her hands gracefully receiving the towel he passed towards her. As much as she'd like to toy with this man, she was far too cold to do so. She pulled the towel up and over her head, first drying off her raven locks of hair as she slowly worked the towel down her body. After she was done, she wrapped herself up with the towel and sat beside the man. The one she had been fond of since the first day she laid eyes upon him. Her cheeks, too, had flushed a light shade of pink upon acknowledging his efforts to surprise her, in which he did. "Drop the apology. This place his beautiful. How on earth did you find out about this cave? I could stay here all day, live here even! Oh, Jaquinne, this is amazing!" she chirped, crimson irises darting all over the area. This place was lovely and what melted her heart even more was the small picnic blanket and drinks he had prepared for the both of them. The devil smiled and this time, instead of teasing and making fun of him like she always does, she breathed a content sigh and simply fixed her softened gaze on his chiseled features. "Hey, Jaquinne. You're awfully sweet, you know that?"

Jaquinne's eyes widened at Zariel's words as his attention was once again drawn to her perfectly toned body. He noticed how the damp material clung to her body in all the right places and the dark colour complimented her ruby eyes. A droplet of water slid down her neck and disappeared behind the lacy material around her chest, and the blonde couldn't help but track its movements with his eyes. He thought back to their time together in the bathroom and almost dropped the cup he had picked up. What was she doing to him? He felt so flustered around her and his heart was constantly racing in his chest. His cheeks started to burn a deeper shade of red at his perverted thoughts and he shook his head to clear it. There would be plenty of time for that later. Now was the time for talking. "I went swimming a little before New Years and just stumbled across this place..." Jaquinne explained softly. Despite how beautiful their surroundings were, he could not keep his gaze off the beautiful woman before him. Zariel's sudden compliment took him by surprise. He had expected her to tease him as she usually did in such intimate situations. Maybe she was feeling the same way he was? "I-I um... I wanted to talk to you... About something..." Why was he stuttering? Why did she always have this effect on him? Jaquinne stepped back onto the blanket and offered her a cup of warm hot chocolate. Jewel and Jerome had informed him on multiple different occasions that his chocolate drinks were 'the best'. He only hoped that Zariel liked it too. His features lit up as a hopeful smile curved his lips. Before he could start blushing again, he looked away and tried to busy himself with his bag. He was acting like a love struck schoolboy. It was ridiculous. "I... I... I lo... Love... The beach..." He cringed and mentally groaned. What was he saying? That wasn't what he was meant to tell her. His hands stilled as he gazed down at the book in his bag. "N-no... That's not what I meant... I... You... Lo...ve..." Another cringe worthy statement from the guy who used to court women as a living. Jaquinne sighed buried his face in his hands. "L... Let me try again..." He asked softly, his whole body burning from utter embarrassment. Why couldn't he say it? He had to tell her how he felt.. The blonde pulled out the book and opened it to the bookmarked page. It was his favourite book and the bookmark he had used was actually a slip of paper with words written on it. The words are actually a list of the things he wanted to tell Zariel. That she was beautiful, smart, funny and kind. That he had fallen in love with her and that she was probably one of the best things to have happened to him in a long while. Sure they still barely knew each other, but he couldn't deny his feelings. Never has he felt like this before. He only hopes that she returns his feelings..

Her cheeky laughter echoed throughout the cave as she noticed his face turn fifty shades of red. She has never failed to pull a reaction out of him, however, this was the only reaction she managed to bring out. She wanted to see more, she wanted to see his raw emotions, not the gentlemanly facade he has on. The devil's eyes widened in surprise, wondering just what he was doing swimming in the middle of winter but before her thoughts escalated further, she recalled how warm the ocean water felt against her skin and everything seemed to make a little sense. "I was just about to say you were insane for swimming in the middle of winter but then again I did the same thing, and the water isn't as cold as I thought it'd be. Actually, it's a lot warmer being in the water than on land-" she stated, wrapping the towel tighter around her body before she reached forth and took the cup of hot chocolate from him. She nodded as thanks before putting the cup against her lips, letting out a small yelp as the hot liquid burned her tongue. It went numb for a moment but her crimson irises sparkled nonetheless as the sweet taste of chocolate spread within her mouth. "Will you be my personal chef and feed me everyday starting today? You make the best hot chocolate~" she answered and this time, she gently blew at the steaming liquid before taking small sips out of the cup. Her occasional shivering came to a stop and she was overwhelmed by a comforting sense of warmth, both literally and figuratively.
Her crimson irises trailed to him once more as he sat down beside her, face filled with curiosity over what he had planned to talk about. She fiddled her cup for a short moment and gently placed it down as he started to stutter in his speech. Her eyes slowly widen as surprise slowly took over her porcelain features. Is he going to-..? Her features deadpanned the moment he spoke of the beach. Zariel felt for the man and cringed along at his failed attempt to express his feelings. "Y-yeah.. me too- who doesn't love the beach-" she teased, wincing as she bit her tongue in the process. Was this the reason he brought her here? A smile slowly worked its way across her features and soon, she was unable to hide her smile at all. This time around, she turned her body and faced her blonde companion, her gaze locked onto his chiseled features as he struggled to find the words to speak. The woman let go of the towel, allowing it to drape loosely around her shoulders while her hand slowly reached forth and gently tugged against the fabric of his shirt. Her crimson irises flickered beneath her long raven tresses as she gazed intently into his, desperately searching the answers to her question. She shuddered at the cold breeze but in that moment, she could care less about it.
"What were you going to say, Jaquinne? I'm curious." her voice but a mere whisper as she spoke and everything fell silent. The only thing she could hear now were the sounds of their hearts hammering against their chest.

Jaquinne kept his jaw clenched shut as he focused intently on trying to find the correct words to describe how he felt about her. But all he could come up with was strange one-liners such as, 'If I were a peanut butter sandwich, you would be the jelly which completed me.' If he didn't think of something he may end up saying one of those cringe worthy lines or singing some stupid song about love. No. He needed to do this properly. While he thought, the blonde noticed that Zariel had moved closer and was now tugging on his shirt. She was gazing at him intently. It was as if she could tell exactly what he was trying to say, but wanted to let him speak himself. It was sweet. Jaquinne removed the towel from around her body and instead draped his jacket around her slim shoulders, pulling her closer still. He ignored the feeling of dampness seeping through his shirt at the contact of her wet lingerie against his dry shirt and instead focused on collecting his thoughts, hugging her slender frame in the process. When he was finally calm enough to speak, his voice was barely above a whisper. "Zariel... I... I love you..." His chin was resting atop her head and his heart was beating so loud that he thought she would surely be able to hear it. He cleared his throat distractedly and repeated himself, this time just a little louder. "I love you, Zariel" There. He had said it. Jaquinne pulled back a little and gazed down at his beloved with a small smile, his features practically glowing with happiness and hope. Then he realised how blunt he had been and winced. "I-I was up all night... Wrote a whole thing... Didn't mean to be so blunt... Want a do over... Sorry it took me so long..." Those were the only audible parts of the long list of words he had mumbled. He was embarrassed now and his cheeks were red, his eyes burning bright as he tried to find the slip of paper from earlier. But finally he just gave up and turned to Zariel, remembering that he had yet to receive a response from her. The male anxiously bit his lower lip softly, keeping silent as he waited.

She gently held onto the fabric of his shirt, caressing the soft fabric as she gazed at the man who was struggling to find the correct words to speak. The seconds ticked by and it turned into minuted of complete silence, save the heavy beating of the hearts. Her eyes were downcast as he removed the towel around her shoulders, crimson irises hidden bashfully beneath the thick lashes of hers. The coldness disappeared as soon as she had his jacket around her. The devil who was once bold was now hiding her face beneath her raven locks of hair. She automatically leaned towards him as she felt his large pair of hands wrap themselves around her slender frame. He felt warm, awfully warm but above all, it felt very soothing and she, too, wrapped her arms around his waist. For a couple of moments, she indulged herself in the calm beating of his heartbeat. Until he spoke, and that was when everything was completely silent.
"Zariel... I... I love you..."
It was barely audible but Zariel can tell what he had said. She remained silent, holding back the smile that slowly stretched across her features.
"I love you, Zariel"
Finally unable to surpress her emotions, Zariel let out a chuckle and returned his gaze, taking in how his blonde locks of hair drape around his chiseled features. His golden irises tender and loving but somehow, it frightened her, too, as if the slightest touch and he would break. She reached up and placed her finger against his lips. She didn't know how to answer, she didn't know how to properly respond. It was her first time having the chance to respond to someone's confession and now, she feared that her father may appear out of no where and stop them from going any further. She shook her head, disregarding unnecessary thoughts. "I-.. I don't know. I've been craving your touch, your voice.. I've been craving for you. I don't know why." she murmured, feeling her features heating up. She slowly slid her hands up around his neck, her face inching closer towards his. "I'm confused, it hurts when I look at you. It's suffocating but I don't hate it. I don't.. hate it." she inched closer and a shiver travelled down her spine the moment their lips touched.
She pressed herself against him and it was only then she realized how much she longed for this man. She was awfully confused and she caught herself thinking of him most of the time. Her chest clenched everytime she laid eyes upon him but she didn't hate it. She didn't mind and perhaps, what she felt could be passed off as 'love'. At least that was what she'd like to believe.

Jaquinne smiled as he walked, ignoring the fact that it was supposed to be raining and storming that day. He didn't care. He was going to see the love of his life and that was all that mattered. He brought with him, a backpack filled with food. He'd wanted to make her a special meal, but hadn't known what she had in her cupboard, so he had decided to just bring some items with him. He was hoping that maybe they could cook the meal together. It would be a nice experience.. Sharing a meal with the woman you loved. The thought made him blush as he retrieved his phone from his pocket. He was contemplating texting her to let her know that he was coming, when she sent him a text. If that's you downstairs, you're doing a horrible job and sneaking into someone else's house unnoticed. ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ Jaquinne froze at the message, horror dawning on his golden features. He had wanted to surprise her, yes. But he was still a few streets away from her home. It wasn't him in her house. It was someone else. He hastily sent a reply as his casual pace turned into a sprint. "Go to your bathroom and lock yourself in there. Don't make a sound and wait until I get there." He pocketed his phone and dropped the backpack he had brought with him, not wanting it to weigh him down while he ran. His feet pounded against the concrete and his heart was beating a panicked staccato in his chest. And it seemed like an eternity had passed before he had reached her home. Jaquinne arrived in time to see a man run from Ynez's home, and he hesitated for a moment. He wanted so badly to attack the bald man. To hurt him and beat him as he would have in the past. But he didn't. Ynez needed him. So he ignored the male, memorising every aspect of his features until the intruder was out of sight. "Ynez?" The blonde called out softly, his voice coming out breathless and desperate as he approached her doorway. It was open. Her door was open just a crack. Jaquinne cautiously pushed the door open wider, his eyes scanning the immediate area before him for signs of any other intruders before they finally came to rest on a sobbing Ynez. An explosive rage bubbled within the confines of Jaquinne's body at the sight of her exposed skin. Of the bruises marking her, and the blood seeping from cuts and scratches he could not see. He wanted to kill that man. To torture him until he begged for death. To destroy him and everything precious to him. But he didn't. Ynez was the only thing keeping him from expressing this demonic side of him. Jaquinne schooled his face into that eerily calm expression of his, although he could not hide the dark glint of anger in his eyes, or the worried part of his lips. "Ynez..." He reached out to touch her, to hold her, but hesitated at the last second. A memory resurfaced within him. Something similar had happened to Jewel years ago. She too, had been violated in such a way. He remembered that the child hadn't let anyone touch her for weeks after that. So instead of gathering Ynez in his arms and holding her as he wanted to, he stepped back and started to remove his shirt. He was wearing a long sleeved top which would undoubtedly resemble a dress of Ynez's petite frame. But anything was better than her torn clothes. His mouth opened and closed a few times, as if he were going to say something but changed his mind at the last minute. He wanted to apologise for not being there. For not being there to protect her when he should've. But there was a time and a place for apologies, and now was not that time. He held his shirt out to her, hoping that she would take it.
