Haldor
User Image"They're not much fun," Halle agreed with a shrug. Again, he glanced toward his brother Rask for confirmation of his judgment on their siblings. Rask's answering shrug was enough of an agreement for Halle, and he went on, "It's not very impressive to sneak out of our den. Da's not around much, and our mum doesn't mind us going around the pride as long as we stay in the Stronghold."

He didn't look to Rask this time because he knew that Rask's bright eyes would fix him with a stare that said he was lying. But he wasn't. He was just stretching the truth a little. Their parents really didn't mind them going about the pride. Although they did insist on knowing where they planned to go, and what they would be doing there, and with whom, and when they planned to be back. There were always lots of questions involved in going outside the den without an adult.

He was reflecting on this when he realized that both Njord and Rask had grasped decent-sized hunks of meet in their jaws and were beginning to make off with them, and he was lagging behind. Quickly he did the same, following the other two cubs to the rendez-vous point.

Rasmus
User ImageIf Rask had been in possession of eyebrows, he would have raised them at Halle's assertion that their parents didn't much care whether they were out and about or what they were doing, but he didn't contradict him. That would have been the worst kind of betrayal, calling his brother out on his exaggeration. It would've made Halle look ridiculous.

Instead, he followed Njord's example and wrapped his mouth around a tasty-looking hunk of meat and began dragging it from the rest. He was relieved to see Halle doing the same, before he could say anything more slanderous about their parents and their parenting abilities. His mouth began watering almost immediately as he stretched his jaws to accommodate the probably too ambitious thing he'd chosen.

The three of them hadn't gotten too far when Rask heard the unmistakable sounds of a fight brewing, at which point he dropped his burden to call out to his companions, "Hey. A fight!"

It didn't occur to him to wonder what the fight might be about, or if it might have any particular significance to the pride. As far as Rask was concerned, he was merely pointing out a bit of entertainment to his brother and their new acquaintance.

"Think we'll be able to watch from our meeting place?"

Tallskog
User Image"Great!" Tall answered, after which there was really nothing more to be said.

The blond captain lunged around Naaja, running the risk that she might move in the wrong direction, but she held her ground until she could tell in which direction he was moving before quickly clearing out of the way. For the rest of the fight, his awareness of her location would be both peripheral and constant, as it was vital to him, at least, that she not be injured.

Dimly it registered to Tall that other lions present were also taking steps to remove themselves from the area of conflict between himself and Skjoldr, which was for the best, although Tall was more than willing to go through anyone who got in his way as he did his level best to tear Skjoldr limb from limb. Nonlethally, of course, as those were the terms of the holmgang.

Skjoldr
User ImageSkjo had not quite expected his opponent to move directly into an attack. In fact he had not expected it at all, given Naaja was still standing in between them, her body a fairly problematic obstacle unless one chose to plow right through her, and even as irate as he was, Skjo had no particular desire to do that. Thus, he had expected Tallskog would wait until she withdrew to launch an attack, and he had been readying himself to do the same, confident that his superior size would serve him well when their two masses collided.

He was taken unawares by the manner, speed, and ferocity of Tallskog's attack, but that did not mean he failed to address it. Skjo had been fighting for most of his life, even though he was not actually a reaver, and he did not flinch when he saw another lion lunging toward him with his jaws open wide and his claws extended to hook into whatever part of his body they could snag, which was really unfortunate, all things considered. If he had flinched, Tallskog's teeth would not have closed on the flesh behind his forelimb, granting the other lion first blood.

Skjo roared in pain and frustration and instantly struck back, ripping free of Tallskog's teeth to slash him viciously across the face with the claws on his uninjured side.

Tallskog: 4, 3, 4, 1, 4
Skjoldr: 3, 4, 3, 3, 2

Tika had watched and listened as the idea for an all-female viking began forming. Her twil swished excitedly at the thought. How grand if her first viking was with the likes of these female warriors! That feral grin of her spread wide, and her breathing sped up a bit. She could only grin more as it gained support and began to solidify. "I'm ready and willing whenever you wish to do this," she affirmed, nodding with quiet anticipation. Oh yes, this would be very good indeed!

She turned to see the brother and sister approach, bobbing her head in greeting. She listened to Sabor's congratulations, adding a chuff of agreement to her statement. Something seemed off, though... or maybe this was just what the other new captain was usually like? She arched an eyebrow at Kekale's snarky comment about being left out of this female viking trip. She glanced between all the siblings, unwilling to involve herself in a family tiff.

She was promptly distracted from one uncomfortable situation to another, though. Angry words and raised voices made her turn to look, ears swiveling with a mix of uncertainty and interest. Without any compunctions, she began padding towards the two males facing off and the frantic female trying to get between them. Having no stake in the fight or real knowledge of who they all were, she was mildly curious, glancing back briefly to assess if this fight had any personal ramifications for the group she'd been talking with, aside from spicing up their party.

Sebor chuckled very quietly as the new male captain complained about being left out. He'd have many chances to go Viking with any Reavers he chose, but this would be a females-only adventure. The sounds of the fight drew her attention to the two brawling males and she huffed very softly. Spars weren't unheard of, especially when rivals gathered in close proximity, but really? They hadn't even gotten to eat yet.

Finding it a bit inconsiderate that the two males were hashing out their feud at a party for two other captains, she flicked her tail and wrinkled her nose in distaste. Males.

Runa waited for her sister to get ready and, once she was there, she bounded over to the plant. Just as she arrived she heard a fight break out and she turned to look, her eyes growing wide as she saw the two males clashing. Well, it seemed she wouldn't have to be a distraction.

"Go quick," she hissed softly. "Everyone's watching the fight!"

[Valka Freeborn]
User Image As her sister announced the fight to her just as she herself caught wind of it she scampered away with the bundle of mint locked safely in her jaws. No one was going to be taking this from her without a fight. No pun intended towards the brawling adults nearby. She made sure to see that her sister was in hot pursuit and she spotted her brother heading their way with the two other male cubs they had met.

[Njörðr (Njord) Freeborn]
User Image As he began to run with his spoils locked in his jaw his attention was stolen by the sound of one of the brothers announcing there was a fight. He skidded to a halt and looked as near part of the rocky area where they were going to go turned into a dual between two of the older members he didn't know. Setting his spoil down for a moment to respond. "I think we shall be able to see it well from our chosen location." He said picking up his prize and darting towards his sisters.

User Image"That's good. Could be interesting."

Satisfied with Njord's answer, Rask picked up his burden again, though his grip was not as good as it had been before and one end dragged on the ground. Fortunately they were nearly there. He could see that the girls seemed to have beaten them to it. Well, they weren't carrying heavy things like meat.

He was quick to follow Njord to meet up with the girls, and he could hear his brother catching up to him. Halle must not have grabbed as large a chunk of meat, he decided, if he could run fast enough to catch up. He refused to entertain the possibility that he might no be moving all that quickly, because it felt like he was going quickly.

"We're back," he greeted the girls. "How did it go?"

Haldor
User ImageHalle would have liked to stay exactly where he was to watch the two combatants, who looked like they were going to go all out, even though he'd heard them say something about third blood for the rules. However, his brother and Njord were already leaving, so he was forced to take up his appropriated dinner and hasten to join the others.

If, upon arrival, he was miffed that his brother had already asked the questions he was going to ask (how things had gone), he gave no sign of it. Instead he sniffed the air curiously. Yes. Definitely the girls had succeeded in grabbing some mint. This was going to be awesome.

"We brought meat," he said, although this fact was perfectly obvious. His stomach growled. He was always hungry, according to his mum.

Tallskog
User ImageTall was pleased but not surprised to find his teeth sinking into his opponent. It was an incredible feeling, tasting the blood of the lion he had been actively and passionately hating for as long as he had known him.

He was, however, surprised when Aesir's grandson willingly tore his flesh from between his teeth and went on the counterattack, immediately striking his head with a force that split the thinner flesh over Tall's cheek, provoking an automatic snarl, more because it counted as blood spilled than because it hurt.

Tall was quick to retaliate, even while still reeling from the blow. It felt like his brain was rattling around in his skull when he dove in to slash at Skjoldr's face in return.

Skjoldr
User ImageThis was going too fast. Not his opponent. Skjo was fast enough for a lion his size. Came from having a god as a father, he figured. But in any event, being large had never noticeably slowed him.

It was more that the nature of the fight he had agreed to was not giving him time to relish this fight he had been wanting for some time. With Tallskog's most recent slash catching him across the jaw and opening skin from the corner of his mouth practically to his ear, his blood had already been drawn twice. He could soon be the loser, in addition to a cuckold.

Despite how unfairly quickly this fight was passing, Skjo was still enjoying the opportunity to sink his teeth into the lion who had been having sex with his wife. Even though it meant gaining scars and jerking his head toward claws to tangle them in his mane, all to allow him to close his teeth with a satisfying crunch on the paw that had just cut his face.

Bryn smirked and made a face at Kale, deciding against actually taunting the new captain. She had never personally had issues with the fermented fruit, but she had known others to get quite ill. Whether it was quantity, tolerance, or maybe some of the fruit had spoiled, she didn't know, but she counted her lucky stars that she had yet to experience her brother's pains.

"Oh, Brother Dearest," she cajoled after his edgy comment. "You know we wouldn't dream of excluding you in any lasting way. This is just a once in a while thing - a girls' night out, if you will."

Even though she probably sounded mocking, Bryndis was genuinely trying to comfort Kale. She hadn't meant to make anyone feel left out by suggesting the females go viking, nor had she intended it to be the beginnings of a band. She had only thought it would be fun, and she really was sorry if she had made Kale feel rejected.

The subject seemed forgotten, though, as some sort of dispute boiled over nearby. Bryn recognized the lioness involved as one of her mother's friends, Naaja; she thought that one of the males was Naaja's mate, but couldn't be certain, and the other male was unknown to her. Bryn shrugged in response to Soja's query, having no idea why the two males thought it was appropriate to have it out at a celebration, and so early in to boot. Nevertheless, she was perfectly content to watch until xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxsomeone important to her decided it should stop.

Tifu was late, but she was here. That was what counted, right? Svana had earned the support of the big lioness, but she was not as familiar with everyone else. So she'd waited a little bit, until they'd hopefully all had a bit of meat and that mint stuff and mingling might maybe be less awkward. And look, there was a fight causing a nice ruckus to cover her entrance! How nice of the males having it out over...that lioness, probably. Maybe. Lions here didn't need much excuse to fight, which suited her fine. While she kept making her way towards the new captains for due congratulations, she did slow to watch the fight. Why waste perfectly good entertainment?

Svana
User Image

At her brother's snarky comment she just grinned brightly at him, shifting to flick her tail against his side playfully. "Oh hush brother. We will only go out when you are busy, you won't even notice." She knew he wouldn't mind when he wasn't feeling so rotten. After all she knew he would most likely go out with the guys every so often as well. They were co-captains, not married, though she would never plan a real Viking without him. This all-girls jaunt would be more of a fun afternoon than anything serious, certainly not one of their long trips that were what Svana classed as a real Viking where she spent days planning their route and making sure they had supplies as needed. Those were the best raids but also took a heck of a lot of work before they even left the pride.

Giving her brother another loving yet playful grin, she turned to Soja. "You should come to sis." She had no idea if their contrary sister would accept or sneer at the offer, Svana had long ago given up trying to predict the other lioness, but she was her sister and would always include her. Svana still held out hope that their sibling may eventually decide to become a reaver too, and she would always offer her a spot in a Viking and in their band, but she knew better than to pressure Soja. So as a ruckus suddenly kicked off across the way, Svana turned to peer over there, moving to stand beside her gathered family.

"Hey.... isn't that Naaja?" She asked no one in particular as she squinted, trying to see clearly through the gathering crowd, "And..... Stormwinds..... Skjoldr and Tallskog!" Starting forwards she wasn't sure what she was going to do, if anything. But this was something and Svana needed to be close enough to act if required.

Kizuka
User Image
It was some time before Kizuka moved again, but there was a commotion on the other side of the party and, curious, she walked across to see what was going on. It was obviously a fight, tht much she could tell from where she had stood, but as she threaded through the captivated party goers, she quickly realised just what was going on, even if she didn;t know the combatants themselves. A female stood far too close to them, clearly distressed, and the two males fought with the wild ferocity that only rivals could manage. Cocking her head she wondered which was the husband, and which was the lover. It was impossible to tell, one was larger, maybe a reaver? But his fighting skills were... basic at best. Narrowing her eyes she studied them as they slached and bit each other. No, not a reaver, but the other was. Still, she couldn't work out which was the lover, both seemed intent on breaking the non-lethal rule anyway.

Kiso
User Image
She never even noticed the fight, as thoughts of her own situatio consumed her. She couldn't loose Kizuka! Her Mistress had saved her, brought her home, tended to her and taught her how to survive. She defended her and protected her, fed and sheltered her. Kiso had no idea what she would do without her Mistress. Trembling she stared helplessly up at the proud reaver as Kizuka seemed to take an interest in something across the area. Without a word the lioness started to walk away and Kiso, terrified of being abaonded, scrambled to her paws without any thought to dignity and raced after her, bumping into Kizuka's rump in her rush to catch up. Cowering she pressed against her Mistress' side, willing to take any punishment if only she could stay close by.

Kekäle
User ImageLike the lionesses he was talking to, Käle directed his attention toward a fight that was moving at a quick pace. He didn't know the terms, but like Svana, he could recognize the combatants and he could guess at the cause. Despite the fact that he felt like death warmed over, he couldn't help smiling with almost childish delight. A fight at his party!

"Svan..." he called after his sister, not putting much urgency into it. "Leave them be. I'm sure it'll be over soon. If we interrupt them, it'll be that much longer before our mum can do her proud parent speech and the rest of us can eat."

Plus, as much as he loved his sister and respected her fighting abilities, he didn't want her to get between the two lions, who were fighting with a single-minded viciousness that made him quite confident they wouldn't mind causing collateral damage if someone tried to stop them.

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja didn't have a chance to respond to the invitation to come viking before the fight really began to cause a ruckus. It didn't occur to her to try to stop the fight, as Svana seemed inclined to do, nor to stop her sister from trying to stop it, as Käle seemed inclined to do. Her mismatched eyes were scanning the crowd to seek out their mother and see how she was dealing with all this.

No luck. But she did notice a large lioness with a pelt in various shades of sandy coming in, and behind her...another of her mother's friends, Karaliskas. Well. At least things seemed to be getting off to an interesting start. Käle missing, then unwell. A fight. At this rate, the evening could well end up with a god stomping in and turning them all into codfish. Stormlords, she hoped that wouldn't happen.

The Reaver shook her head a bit as the males continued to fight. She glanced to the two new Captains, quickly giving them a little nod of her head.

"I wish the both of you the best, and I do hope we'll see the all-female Viking take shape. I must be off now, though." She gave the others in the group a little nod before turning to head away from the rumpus, deciding she had spent enough time with the young Captains. She hadn't meant to stay for very long, after all, just long enough to congratulate them.

The cubs all joined up at the pile of rocks with ease. Runa had to admit it had been a bit easier to do than she had anticipated, but that didn't make it any less exciting. She hopped over to the meat the boys had brought, giving it a delighted sniff.

"It went well! They didn't even notice us," she said happily, glancing back at their own haul. It didn't seem as impressive as what the boys had brought, but it was in its own way even more special since it wasn't something cubs were supposed to indulge in, as far as she was aware. It was a treat for the adults.

User ImageValka stood proudly as the boys returned with their spoils and she looked over at Runa with a small smile. She looked over the meat the boys had gathered and was quite pleased with what they had snagged up. "It looks like you guys were successful. We were able to acquire a decent amount of mint." She said as she laid out the bundle of mint she had snagged up while the adults were focused on the fight. "Well, let's dig in. This meat isn't going to eat itself." She said with a smirk as she eyed the meat her brother had.

User ImageHe set down the chunk of meat he had and gazed at what the girls had grabbed and he was quite pleased with what the six of them had accomplished working together. It was definitely a feat to tell their siblings about later. "Yes, I agree. Let's eat before my stomach devours my insides." He said as his stomach grumbled in protest. He watched Valka eyeballing the meat and knew that if they all didn't start eating soon the girls might get a little testy, let alone himself. They had enough food for everyone.

Samael
User Image
Samael couldn't help the limp that still afflicted him, making his walk stiff and halting. But the pain barely bothered him now, a faint annoyance in the background as he walked along. The reason for his distraction, and for the proud lift to his blond-maned head, was the lioness alking at his side. Glancing once again at Lissa he couldn't help the grin that curled across his muzzle. The very fact that she had invited him along, that such a stunning lioness was walking beside him, wanting to spend more time in his company, was almost mind boggling. Struggling to wipe the silly grin of fhis face but fairly sure that he was failing, he looked forwards again, now that they were clsoe enough to make out individual lions. Some cubs were running about carrying things, making him wonder just how much of aparty this was if cubs were allowed, but then he spotted Svana, her flame-red tail was hard to miss after all. The sight of her made him sigh, and he really hoped Lucivar wasn't around. It was always ..awkward when he ran into his old Captain. Rolling his eyes he caught a glance of the fight that was in progress. Squinting slightly he didn't think he recognised either male, though the blue one wore Aesir's markings. No matter, it didn't affect him in any way and so he instead turned to smile once again at the lioness at his side.

Lissa.

"So what is this party in honor of?" He asked, as he realised that he had been so distracted by Lissa herself, that he had no idea what was actually going on down there..

Kizuka
User Image
The sudden bump from behind pushed a snarl out from between her fangs as she whipped round, paw raised with the itention of smacking which ever fool it was that had ran into her. But the sight of Kiso, clearly terrified, cringing away from her and yet pressed so tightly against Kizuka's hindquarters that the pale lioness was practically wrapped round her, made the reaver pause and frown at the thrall. "What?" She asked, trying to modulate her typically harsh tone, worried that Kiso might just faint from fear.

User Image
Already anticipating the hit she flinched away, tucking her head against her Mistress's black fur. When no pain came she gasped softly, terror making even her breathing shake as she peeked out, gaze going wide as she slowly registered Kizuka's expression. It was frustrated, yes. But also slightly concerned. Concerned for Kiso. Trembling she risked meeting her Mistress's narrowed gaze. "Don't leave me!" She whispered, voice as shaky as her breathing, barely escaping as she pressed closer.

User ImageHalle was delighted at the praise from the girls. Not that he expected anything less. He just felt that he and the other guys had done an impressive job and deserved to be praised for it. Plus, like most people, he liked to hear good things about himself, which prompted him to acknowledge the girls' accomplishments, too, even though they had brought lighter, easier to move loot.

"Good job, you guys, too," he congratulated the girls, nudging his brother to encourage him to agree. Rask nodded along, but his mouth was already full of meat. Halle was falling behind in the eating department.

He didn't have anything to add, and so he began to dig into the noms he and the other boys had procured, making small "hmm": noises of contentment while he filled his stomach.

Rasmus
User ImageBeside his brother, Rask was already doing his part to make sure that the meat they'd appropriated vanished, but he was not so much hungry as he was eager to get through the meat bit so that they could move on to the novelty the girls had brought.

In short order he sat back from the meat and began licking his chin and grooming his paws to signal that he did not intend to eat any more. He also sniffed delicately in the direction of the pilfered mint, intrigued by the scent that had been teasing his nostrils for the past several minutes, to the point where he even had no interest in the fight going on and he had rushed his meal, which he rarely did.

"That mint smells good," he remarked as casually as he could, even though good wasn't quite the right word. It was a tantalizing smell, but not really a good one. He was far too young to have the vocabulary to discuss that though.

User ImageLissa glanced over at Samael in time to see him looking at her and smiling. She smiled back at the blond lion, ridiculously pleased that she was not attending her friend's party alone. Perhaps if she'd had the faintest idea what she'd missed with her late arrival, she wouldn't have been so worried.

"Ah, my best friend and my half-brother have two cubs who were recently named captains. Svana and Kekäle," she explained, distracted by the fight going on between Skjoldr and Tallskog.

It didn't look like there was much of the fight left though. Tall landed a vicious blow that Skjoldr failed to evade or block, slashing deeply into the blue lion's hide for what seemed to be the third time. She had to find out what was going on.

"We can congratulate them in a bit. Right now, if you don't mind, I have to find out why those two lions are fighting. You see, one of them's married to my other best friend, and the other was once betrothed to her, before Ruzski became warlord."

Runa had joined Rask when the other cub had dug in, eating her way through a chunk of meat. She made a royal mess of herself but she didn't care one bit. After finishing up her meal and cleaning up (a bit), she turned her attention to the plant that she and her sister had brought back.

"Smells weird," she said, wrinkling her nose at the plant. She sniffed it before chomping on a leaf...and spat it out promptly.

"It burns!" she whined, pawing at her tongue. "Ow...ow that's not good! Why do adults like that! Ugh!"

Her smile left him off balance, as if some big reaver had just clocked him round the head. He felt slightly dizzy, and disorientated, the ground under him not quite as steady as he was used to. He also missed her explanation because of it, and had to physically shake himself in an attempt to focus. "Ah, I see. I know Svana, but I haven't met Kekale yet." At least, he didn't think he had. He tended not to notice the males, except to remember the ones that could best him in a fight in order that he could avoid them in the future.

Looking between the two fighting males he made a faintly interested sound low in his throat, but only actually took in what she had said when she started forwards again. "Whoa, wait.... " He hurriedly moved up beside her again, taking up a rather protective -or possessive, depending on your view point- stance, putting himself between her and the fight while they moved closer to the gathering. "I'll come with you." He replied, looking again at the fighting males with a slightly more suspicious glance. He hated the though of some males' argument getting in the way of what had started to look like the best evening he had experienced in a long while. He wouldn't let anyone hurt her, as he was well aware that battling reavers tended to forget about anyone watching near by.

Lissa was his companion tonight.

Kizuka
User Image
The sudden outburst surprised Kizuka and she stared at the cowering thrall in bemusement for a long moment, the fighting males entirely fogotten. "Leave you?" She asked, voice puzzled and for once entirely free of her usual short temper. "What in the Stormlords are you talking about?" She snapped when Kiso simply contnued to stare at her with that frightened big-eyed gaze. Shaking he rhead when her thrall remained mute, Kizuka made the effort to modulate her tone. Turning round she sighed at the thrall and shook he rhead. "I'm not. I have no idea what you heard or are thinking, but I'm not leaveing you anywhere. Now stop this nonsence." There was no need to tell the poor creature that she had considered it before, but since she had choosen not to, it hardly mattered any longer.

User Image
It took several heartbeats before her Mistress's words finally registered in her mind, pushing through the terror to spark something in her brain. The shaking slowed as she continued to stare at her Mistress, but now it was in relief and gratitude. Pushing her face against Kizuka's dark flank again she struggled to hold back the sniffles that threatened. her Mistress hated crying, and doing so when one wasn't even injured was garanteed to annoy her. Instead she took several deep but unsteady breaths and nodded. Even finding her voice, as weak and thready as it was, enough to answer. "Yes Mistress."

Kizuka shook her head again but her expression was not as hostile as it usually was. With one last glance at the battling males the black reaver turned and led Kiso away. Immensly grateful and feeling painfully fragile, Kiso followed closely, every so often brushing her cheek against her Mistress's hip as if to reasure herself she was still there while they walked back up along the path and away from the gathering.
