Thoth (pronounced tawth). Thoth is complex, a burgeoning split-personality. Traumatized by the brief memory and loss of their sisters, Thoth has always felt inadequate. Male-bodied, Thoth was the only one of the three not adopted but left to the orphanage. Convinced this was because being male was somehow inferior, Thoth began to develop a stronger, more confident personality who identifies as strictly female. At present, neither is fully aware of the connection and divide within their own mind, and still collectively use plural pronouns.

Positive Traits

gaia_nitemareleft Dedicated. Thoth ensures that anything he starts he simply must finish, no matter how much he may dislike it. Stemming from an oversensitivity to abandonment, Thoth wants to ensure he doesn't abandon things in his life.
gaia_nitemareleft Peacekeeper. Thoth is made very uncomfortable by divides, especially those that contain anger or violence. When caught in the middle of conflict, Thoth can see both sides of the situation and tries hard to reconcile and sooth to bring about peace.
gaia_nitemareleft Loyal. Thoth swiftly falls in with friends and crushes, feeling deeply and honestly. She wears her heart on her sleeve, and gives it with abandon.
gaia_nitemareleft Dutiful. Thoth is studious, hardworking and makes a point to always uphold promises. This dutiful nature makes her try to be helpful, supportive and strong for others. This deflection brings her a sense of peace she rarely finds in solitude.
gaia_nitemareleft Gentle. Thoth is deep-feeling and empathetic, leading to a careful, sensitive and timid presentation. In dealings with others, they always approach gently, in fear of hurting another, or of taking on too much of another's emotions.


Negative Traits

gaia_nitemareleft Cowardly. Thoth's male half is a complete coward. He cannot handle arguments, criticism, loud sounds, even aggressive driving throws him into a downward spiral. His response to any sort of conflict is to recede, hide, or give in to those stronger than him.
gaia_nitemareleft Emotional. Thoth's female side is very emotional, and is given to extreme bursts of emotional response. She tends to become invested in the plights of her friends, in the trials of figures in stories, and even in the struggles of familiars. This means she can be extremely boisterous and bold one moment and a weepy mess the next.
gaia_nitemareleft Thin-Skinned. Thoth's female half is very thin-skinned. Things get to her quickly and she is often riled or upset over seemingly (and usually actually) small things. Unlike the male side that just wants to hide, female Thoth would rather pick a fight than let something slide. Her posturing is all a show to hide when she feels hurt or inadequate.
gaia_nitemareleft Discouraged. Both halves of Thoth are very easily discouraged. They will flip-flop between dominance in response to the stimuli and reactions of others around them. For this reason, despite female Thoth's considerably stronger personality, Thoth's male base personality is often the default unless a situation calls for his other half to step in. This results in the two personalities jockeying for prominence moment by moment.
gaia_nitemareleft Low Self-Esteem. This split in personality all stems from Thoth's low self-esteem. While this inherently is male-Thoth's foible, it is a trait female Thoth shares, though he is considerably better at battling it and trying to improve herself.



Enjoys

gaia_nitemareleft Journaling. Thoth finds great comfort in keeping a daily journal. Since they are often divided in how they approach events, and certainly in the way they recollect them, Thoth makes a practise of recounting the day's events before sleep each night. This helps them to keep some sort of lid on their mental illness.
gaia_nitemareleft Company. As much as Thoth is awkward, shy, and generally a downer, they really want to be loved and surrounded by warm and cheerful people. Thoth wants to belong and in company, they feel less like a discarded oddball.
gaia_nitemareleft Theatre. Both dramas on television and live stage performances, Thoth loves letting themselves disappear into an audience. It allows them to enjoy something with others without having to actually interact with them, and (best of all) without a spotlight on their every flaw.
gaia_nitemareleft Magic. Thoth has one knack, and that seems to be for magical theory. While as a Freshling, they can't cast just yet, Thoth is eagerly studying for the day they can put theory to practise.
gaia_nitemareleft Long Walks. While this is usually the result of fleeing from embarrassing situations, Thoth does enjoy long walks as they get the chance to speak freely with themselves, revisit the events that upset them (an endless list), and get some fresh air which always helps to balance out their wayward emotions.


Dislikes

gaia_nitemareleft Raunchy Music. Both in sound and content, music with raucous sounds, lyrics about 'bitches and blow' or anything with a lot of profanity or screaming in it completely turns Thoth's stomach.
gaia_nitemareleft Disappointment. Thoth is disappointed a great deal, usually in themselves. This reaction is nearly always accompanied by severe nausea and threatening tears. This further embarrasses them.
gaia_nitemareleft Isolation. Ironically, while Thoth's low self-esteem and general awkwardness isolates them from others often, Thoth actually hates being alone. When isolated, Thoth's self-loathing rises to all-time highs.
gaia_nitemareleft Conflict. Because Thoth is unsure and cowardly at the best of times, the fastest way to make them on-edge is any sort of conflict. The male half crumbles instantly in the face of it, and the female half is instantly riled.
gaia_nitemareleft Violence. Abuse and physical violence are perhaps the one thing that can unite the halves into action - though whether that is fight or flight depends on the circumstances.
gaia_nitemareleft Broken Promises. Thoth has severe issues with trust, and as such, when promises are broken, Thoth takes it as a severe betrayal, or proof of their worthlessness. Even if it's a simple misunderstanding, or forgotten plans, Thoth takes it extremely personally.
