Response:

Kiss a frog? Kiss a frog. Well, Streams of Silver was nothing if willing to take up the challenge– especially for a prize, and walked up for the opportunity, looking around.

Not that a frog was actually there at all– just the booth proprieter, who looked like an acceptably-close target, and nothing else moving around. Huh. The silver-pelted doe leaned in for a quick kiss, regardless– this was a kissing booth, after all. The scaled, thick-tailed doe seemed quite pleased with this, but had to chastise her nonetheless– she wasn't, after all, a frog. She nodded in acceptance, with the intention on coming back sometime when there was a frog.

When her neighbour came in to complain, she gave a noncomittal gesture of apology. "Well, I thought she must be hiding it," she quipped to the buck who came over. "It won't happen again." She took the bribe, pleased– she hadn't even needed to kiss a frog– and started walking away.

Sunspot was more than happy to kiss a frog. They were delightfully cute, even the tiny one with all the pretty colours. Wasn’t there a story about a frog that turned into a handsome buck? That would be nice! So waited her turn and then stepped up, flashing a delighted smile at the pretty host. “You had very nice frogs. I’d very much like a frog friend one day.”

Then she eyed her prince-to-be and declared, “I’m ready!” But she’d always been clumsy and when she went in for the kiss, she was well off the mark. Well, at least she’d gotten the foot. “Oh.” She flushed bright red and shuffled her hooves. “Should I try again? No, of course not. I’m sorry. I’ll come back tomorrow.”

She smiled apologetically at the frog she’d failed to bestow a kiss upon and hurried away. Maybe it just hadn’t been meant to be.

Kin name: Distant Tidings
Response:
Distant Tidings was not a Kin to be overly much dissuaded by failure (although the humiliation...yeah, it was pretty hard to forget the humiliation...) – and, somehow, after that spectacularly dismal showing last time round, he felt like he had something of a duty to actually kiss a frog for that fascinatingly beautiful doe. Surely he couldn't do any worse that he'd already done.

"Hallo, hallo," he smiled, approaching with significantly less bluster this time. In fact, he rather hoped she wouldn't recognise him. At all. "I'm here to kiss a frog!"

There was a strange roiling in his gut – it took him a moment, but he finally realised what it was. Nervousness. He was nervous about kissing – or to be precise, not kissing – a frog.

"Come on, Tidings," he muttered to himself, "it's just kissing a frog! How hard can it be?!" He tried very hard not to think about his previous attempt.

As it happened, he was so busy worrying about missing the frog that, focusing all his attention on the amphibian mouth, he failed to notice something was amiss till he'd planted the biggest smooch on...an...unusually warty surface.

Oh.

It was a toad.

For the second time in a row, he slunk away from the booth in shame, but at least he had a token to take with him this round.

Dice Roll: . There is no frog to kiss. Instead, you kiss Gecko! The doe is pleased. Her next door neighbor, Fair Hunter, is NOT, and gives you a token on the promise this will not happen again. (Note- if you kiss Gecko twice, Fair Hunter just scares you off. No token today!) (+1 token first time rolled, no token afterward)
Kin name: Kiss of Death
Response:
Kiss came back to the kissing booth the next morning. She really never kissed a frog before and was not sure why she came back either. Yesterday’s win was quite sweet without having to do anything but her want to try and plant her lips on something….slimy, intrigued her. Painful Truth’s lips were quite dry and chappy, she recalled, and pretended that kissing him never happened.

She stepped up to the booth knowing very well that there is a chance that she may end up kissing something else instead. The neighbour in the other booth seemed to be staring at her with a ‘Don’t you dare do it’ gaze in his eyes.

The doe wondered why and scanned the booth like she did just a day ago. Oh, that’s why. There were no frogs again! But this time, there was Gecko all be herself… She looked back at Fair Hunter that was giving her more death stares and chuckled. She will do exactly what he did not want her to do: Kiss Gecko.

“Hey, come here you,” she called out to Gecko in a husky voice and leaned over the counter-like surface, almost falling into the booth herself, and kissed the bright orangey doe on her lips. While she did it, she glanced over at the buck who seemed to be fuming with jealousy by now.

“I had to,” she told the surprised Gecko as she pulled back, and winked at her. Kiss kissed a girl and she.. liked.. it.. emotion_awesome

Dice Roll: 5
Kin name: Spectral Spectrum
Response: Spectral blinked and then began to laugh, merrily. It was funny, but the fact he had chosen first to attend a booth about kissing frogs, was bad enough. Then, the frog was missing and the cute orange gal running it started to panic, searching here and there for wherever the little cad had hopped off to.

"Well, I guess I got off easily, then." He murmured to himself and took the token from the booth's counter while the other was still scurrying after the lost prisoner. He wondered how many had kissed and how many had ended like him, promised a kiss with a toad and then let down? Though, Spectral smiled slightly, there was no guaranteeing that a frog would even like the kiss or turn into a gorgeous prince for him to woo or to be wooed by. Too bad, seeing as he really would have loved to have a gorgeous stud prance about and tell him how dashing he was.

Kin name: Soothe
Response: 150 words of happenings to your kin!

It had to be said that Soothe looked much, much more nervous today. She'd been by over and over and still not seen any frogs. Well, she'd seen plenty of very cute frogs - but she kept trying to kiss things, and they weren't frogs. This was pretty disheartening. Had this all just been a trick? Were the frogs being mistreated? And here she'd thought this was better than that fighting ring.

She hoped not. She sent Gecko a mistrustful smile, just because she didn't like being rude. Then she headed for the frogs and closed her eyes.

Fortunately, the thing that met her lips was neither extremely wet nor extremely furry. That was a plus, right? It was a little - ah - bumpier than she expected, though as she opened her eyes and shook her head she heard a very clear croak. She turned her head to look down at the - toad! Oh, it was pretty cute too! "I don't think this is a frog, either," she told Gecko, " - but it's much better than a fish! And cuter."

Gecko didn't seem similarly pleased, but she gave up a token anyway, so Soothe took it and went on her way.

Kin name: More Love
Response:

After all the build up of the past few days, More Love had honestly thought she'd be more excited to actually be facing a frog. A frog, she told herself sternly, that she would not kiss in any ridiculous way.

Now that the moment had arrived, however, she wasn't really feeling the urge. She didn't want to brush her lips against the bumpy skin. Laying her ears flat, she apologized quietly and slipped away from the booth. Maybe tomorrow.

Dice Roll: 5 The frog... isn't there? Gecko panics, and runs off to find her friend. Sorry! No kiss for you! Have a token for your trouble. (+1 token)
Kin name: Blue Blood
Response: Blue Blood was not one for the smooching on the frogs still, but he liked the look of the doe, and, there were tokens to be won. He was rather adamant that he wanted all the finer things in life and to get them? He'd need tokens. There was just no two ways around that fact. With a bit of huffing and puffing on his part, the buck made his way to the booth, courage gathered if just long enough to approach and state his intent. However, the moment of truth drew close.... and not a single frog was to be found. He was just a bit taken back. Had he just been rejected? By FROGS? A pretty doe he could get but frogs? Clearly by leaving they showed no interest in him so- He scoffed, saying it was not Gecko's fault. They were probably just intimidated by his beauty. That was all.

Kin name: Stinging Itch
Response: 150 words of happenings to your kin!

He did it! He finally did it! He kissed a frog, and the right one at that! Itch grins around at the crowd of kin and then smiles back up at Gecko proudly. When he’s done beaming at himself, he leans down to the little frog and pours adoration all over him for being so cute. “Thank you, you adorable little blob of slime and croaking you!”

He walks away, proud that he at least did it right this time.
There was a big chance he’d come back again now for sure, if only because now that he’d finally succeeded, he wanted to smooch a couple more adorable frogs. Though kissing the wrong frog kind of proved to be unpleasant, he was still a frog so... it counts! He concluded next time he may bring a couple of flies as an offering to the cutie frogs just for fun, even if he doesn’t make it.

Dice Roll: 4!!!!! A FROG AT LAST OMFG LOL
Kin name: Soothe
Response: "Do you think I'll get lucky today?" Soothe asked Gecko with a bit of a tilt to her head. She was still - okay, yes, she was a little peeved. There'd been so much false advertising here! Or maybe just bad organization. But, well, either way. She was disappointed, was all. Yesterday's toad had been a slight improvement from the parade of fish, so she was a bit hopeful.

Maybe...maybe Gecko just had trouble differentiating between the species? Or she had a friend who was helping her, who was even worse? Well, whatever the case, Soothe stepped forward and closed her eyes again.

She leaned down quite a bit before she found something press against her lips - cool to the touch, and a little wet, like an amphibian should be. Smooth. She pulled her eyes open - and it was a frog, in yellow and green. "Oh!" she said, briefly delighted. "This one is very lovely." She gave it another, bigger kiss, and turned to Gecko with a smile. "I finally did it!"

Moonstone Dazzle
for reference, so far she's kissed two fish, gecko, and a toad LOL

Dice Roll: 5. The frog... isn't there? Gecko panics, and runs off to find her friend. Sorry! No kiss for you! Have a token for your trouble. (+1 token)
Kin name: Kiss of Death
Response:
This was her third attempt to find out how uncomfortable kissing a frog will be. Kiss walked up to the booth, spotting Gecko grabbing all the attention of other kin that she could to gather toward her event, and she leaned against the makeshift counter. "Would I be kissing anything today, or walk off with a token without doing anything again," she murmured to herself, liking the latter more than being in contact with another thing from the swamp.
She stood there, waiting, and saw the hostess freak out. There was...no frog? again?
Kiss too, looked for the little fellow, She lifted all four of her hooves in case she may have stepped on it, but the frog appeared to be missing. .

Hmm, okay, perhaps tomorrow will be the day. She took a token and walked off again.

Dice Roll: 7
Kin name: First to Strike
Response: "What's this?" asked First to Strike, poking his head in at the orange doe. "Aw, man, do some frogs need rescuing?"

When he was reassured that no harm was coming to them, he moved in closer. "Sure, I'll give it a shot," First to Strike shrugged. "What do I do? Where do you get these frogs? Did you rescue them from a smuggling ring?" He nosed at them - they were sticky and small. "Oh, man, I like this one," he said, and then he leaned in and kissed it right on the head.

Woah, that tasted funny. "Weird," he said, blinking his eyes. "That's...ah, that's..." Was it sweet? Had the frog been doused in liquid? No, he was being silly - frogs were amphibious.

No, no, it was...but it wasn't water, right? He felt a bit dizzy.

He might head off, he thought. He wasn't feeling all too well.

Kin name: Welcome Home Fair Hunter
Response: Hunter stomped over to the booth next door, a huge leopard frog in her jaws. She had to admit, she hadn't seen this particular frog at the booth before; it might just be a hapless amphibian renegade, wandering around this area because it had been pushed out by the incursion of the kin. If so, it was probably safer with Gecko anyways. She looked around, but couldn't find the orange kin anywhere. Slyly looking from side to side, she plopped the frog on the ground and glared at it hard. "You stay here," she said, then nicked a token from the stash and darted back to her own booth.

Kin name: Flight
Response: Frog kissing, huh? That didn't sound so bad to Flight. Maybe not the most pleasant of things to do in the market, but really there were worse things he could be doing with his time. He nodded politely to the unusual doe running the booth and decided to watch others as the participated- or at least attempted to anyways. Seeing their varied reactions was quite entertaining. Some didn't seem bothered at all. Just a quick smooch and off they went with their token. But others were so repulsed by the idea. The mental struggle of 'kissing a frog is so disgusting but the token' was probably the best part for Flight. He was so entranced by the display the other kin were putting on that he eventually forgot to kiss a frog himself. The savory smell of eggs cooking nearby caught his attention and away he went leaving a sad, un-kissed frog in his wake.

Kin name: Negative
Response: On his next break, Negative found himself wandering to the frog kissing booth again. There wasn't anything particularly appealing about kissing frogs, but... Easy tokens, he guessed. It'd be nice to have some to spend instead of giving them out all the time.

After a few bashful words exchanged with the nice booth operator, Neg closed his eyes and leaned in for the kiss - and felt something warm-blooded! He blinked in surprise, and there was the orange doe! How embarrassing! He stammered an apology (but maybe wasn't actually sorry?? he wasn't sure) and left the booth.

... Only to be confronted by the acha from the fishing booth, who was mad at him for accidentally kissing the orange doe! She growled at him until he agreed that he wouldn't do it again, and then paid him off with a token.

Deciding that that was QUITE ENOUGH ACTION FOR ONE DAY, Neg skedaddled back to his own booth.
