Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking It was a cool device. An amazing device. And she was happy to see that Link was also excited to try it. She wouldn't openly admit it, but she was quietly relieved that they wouldn't have to worry about the logistics of whether or not that wonderful contraption would be able to carry two of them. Fortunately, at least, they wouldn't need to worry about that right now.
Ambiance held the torch up again, hoping that holding the light up would ease his travels and so he wouldn't have to worry about being blind in his flight. When he was ready to go, she gave a brief salute, and watched him off.
She almost had a panic attack when the glider didn't catch the air as she expected. The sudden drop swooped into a saving one, but only barely. She winced at the crash. Though, like the trooper he was, Link picked himself up to go again and further on. She found herself praying that the goddesses would preserve him through this new obstacle that was learning to manipulate the glider.
Oh... Hope he's alright... She tilted her head to the side. Why wasn't he flying as smoothly...? Did he need a tail? This new thought made Ambiance wonder. Link himself wasn't an adequate counterbalance? She began to search through her bag, though she had no idea what she should be looking for.
I wish I could protect you here Oh, please don't cry, now, smile

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════It wasn't so much that Link couldn't fly well--although probably not being as good a flyer as Ambiance, if we're being honest--so much as it was a matter of raw distance. The distance he had to go was much farther than anything Ambiance had to overcome before, so it was really no wonder Link had a tough time getting across. Coming up the tunnel again, Link looked a to be a little discouraged. He gave a sigh and shrug to Ambiance, letting go of a weak chuckle a smile. If Ambiance remembered the map, she would realise they still had a whole other path to explore before calling it quits.

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Ambiance felt more relieved than anything else when she confirmed that Link was alright and safe. When he returned, he seemed down, and she couldn't blame him for that. She wanted to cheer him up, somehow, perhaps with a big hug. It would only be given when he was within proximity. If he was comfortable enough to give her a hug earlier, it seemed alright to offer one in return.
Fortunately, however, all was not lost. They still had more to explore, and maybe that would help them move on. Link could continue to wear the wings, as they would probably come in handy later. "Remember the dead end we first tried? Maybe we'll find something there."
She managed, just managed, to avoid saying something silly and encouraging like.. 'Aw... that's alright, Link! Maybe next time!' There would be a next time, but why rub in the idea of perceived failure when someone was already feeling it? Besides, he was wearing wings.
I wish I could protect you here Oh, please don't cry, now, smile

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════The hug was a pleasant surprise. Link only tensed up for the first half-second, as a matter of fact. Her next suggestion gave him something else to focus on, which was great because he was really getting tired of skidding across the ground on his face...
And off they went, back down the tunnel which brought them to where they were at the start of their little spelunking adventure. Link pulled out the map again so that the two could make their way into the one area they hadn't explored yet in the left side of the Dragon's Heart. It led them to a big circular room, dripping with moisture and drafty as outdoors was windy.
As soon as they were in the door would be shut behind them. As an added bonus Link's fire went out at just about the same time, leaving the two with Ambiance's waning torch--which would probably give out any minute--to navigate with.

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking No explorer, in the dark and dankess of a cave system, wanted to be without light, particularly at a moment like this. .... And no sane adventurer wanted to hear the heavy thud of a door slamming shut behind them when exploring room with a door they hadn't needed to open in the first place.
It gave them a new sense of urgency. "If magic intervenes, there's usually something nearby."
Wow, that sounded a lot more collected and sane than the panic she was pretty sure she was feeling. Her thoughts were generally encouraging leaping back toward the door and to try and force it open somehow. As she heard her words, she did begin to calm down. Doors didn't just close without help for no reason at all. Usually.
She began to search the room, first looking to see if there were nearby walls, and if there were, to find out the size of the room itself. There was an opening somewhere if there was a draft that allowed for moisture and wind. They wouldn't suffocate, which was fortunate.

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════The room itself was very large. Link was going toward the middle--maybe not the best tactic, but that's what the brave ones were good for. Ambiance seemed to have a better idea in scraping along the wall of the round room to get a feel of the dimensions. What she would find was a head made of stone, huge, and another, and another--six of them in total coming out of the walls, as though they were guarding the room. Link, on the other hand, would be stumbling about for a while without his light. Eventually, though, he was able to stumble across something in the middle of the room.
This thing was full of holes and shaped like a dragon, if Link was feeling it right. It didn't seem to serve any purpose, but something interesting did come of it. Or should I say from it? From the stone dragon's mouth came a dull red liquid. Link jumped a little and let out a less-than-heroic scream at the sight of it on his hands. When the initial shock wore off he went for Ambiance's light, showing her what he'd found. Would it have any use at all?

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking A carved and decorated wall. She found the faces staring out from the walls to be a bit concerning... but maybe that was the point of them, especially if htey were meant to defend this place. Ambiance tried not to worry about them too much, but she had a feeling her attention would come back to them one way or another.
Link drew her attention quickly to him, and in short order, she was at his side again. The weak torch was lifted over the sculpture, which she confirmed to be in the form of a dragon's head with an open mouth. It seemed to be a kind of fountain with something coming out of its mouth. Red? Ambiance wasn't sure what to make of the smell.... Though, with the way the liquid came out of the dragon's mouth, she found herself wondering if it was flammable. She wasn't sure she wanted to test that in case she was wrong and they lost their torch. This would be a great use of an ember seed...
"Some kind of fountain... I wonder what it is." She turned her attention to Link. "What do you think?"

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Link gave a shrug and leaned on the protruding head. A hand-shaped spot of red appeared, and suddenly it felt as though the AC had been turned on--with the demon's mouth as the vent! Link looked at his for a moment, confused about what had just happened. Ambiance would have to test her memory if she was going to solve this puzzle. Meanwhile, the light was fading fast. They wouldn't have more than a couple minutes of light left. If Ambiance used it to look at the wall above the head she would be doing a lot better. The etched outlines there would be the key to their escape.

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking The statue that Link touched had triggered a change in the room. Then, the statues that surrounded them each did something? Was the one Link touched the right one? Ambiance considered this with a new wonder as she searched their surroundings. There were always clues.
Was it elementally based, these different statues? The one most recently touched encouraged wind, somehow.... Maybe that was just a sign of reaction from the system itself?
Ambiance turned her eyes around, taking a closer look at carvings and marks. There wasn't too much time and she doubted that they could solve this riddle in the dark.
"Think we can re-light your lantern, or do you have enough oil?"

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Link would have liked to have been able to say yes, but damn honesty; he would have also liked to see the rest of the dungeon, but that didn't seem very likely now. The Hero shook his head, eyes cast down as he reached in his pocket and pulled out an empty bottle. None of the chus from before would have done the trick, so it really did look as though they were on the verge of darkness. He of course prompted Ambiance to hurry and figure out what it was they were supposed to be doing.
He knew that something happened whenever the red from the dragon's mouth at the center of the room touched the head on the fringe. He had a feeling something would happen if they kept doing it--or at the very least had a reflexive, almost childlike curiosity toward the statue. He asked Ambiance to go fetch more of the paint while he stood at the other statue. Six times she would have to do this, but on the first trip the inevitable finally happened: lights out!

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Ambiance continued exploring, surveying the area and the statues while she also went about the process with the paint that seemed to come from the main center statue... A color puzzle? ... Was the objective to make everything red? In the transitioning, and in hope that it would stay lit for as long as possible, she had propped the torch up on one of the statues where it's light would hold steady and not be too terribly disturbed by motion and wind... But, while this bought a few seconds, dark it did become.
... Now, it was natural in a situation like this to panic. However, one knew better than to do that if they wanted to get out of a situation in a sane and rational manner.
Her shoulders sunk, a gesture completely unseen in the dark, but she did heave a frustrated groan. It was going to happen eventually. It just was always a shame when it actually did happen.
Okay... well, they had a good idea about where they were, where the statues were, and she felt that she could still maneuver about a fair bit, if she was cautious. She closed her eyes, not that this helped, and recreated a picture of the room within her mind. There was paint from the center and there were the statues all around, each that seemed to bear a different... was it expression?
She opened her eyes again. They began to adjust to the darkness, but there was so little to go off of that any chance at seeing differences in color was shot. Shade, perhaps, but hue? Nuh uh.
"Should we make them all red, or just the ones that look like the one in the middle?"

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════Link was of course shocked but not surprised by the light going out as well. It made him wonder how the whole "colors" thing was supposed to work if the room was going to be black in the first place. With that, he decided to follow along with Ambiance's suggestion and start painting them all red.
Since they'd already visited one of them, Link thought it more expedient to move on to the next one. He and Ambiance fumbled around in the dark toward each other, and they would eventually meet up to move over one statue. This was a lot easier, seeing as all they had to do was trace the wall. As soon as they arrived Link took some of the paint from Ambiance's hands and slopped it on the carved face.
... Nothing. Link felt quite foolish, and tried again. Still no good. They must've been missing something. Something that gave them direction on what to do here. Clearly all of them couldn't be painted the same color. ... Was there a way to get different paints?

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Red... no good. If it was a different pattern with the colors, then at least they could take comfort knowing that the one that were supposed to be red now were. However... the others would need to be changed, if they couldn't all be the same. Perhaps there was a mechanism by the main statue that changed the color?
"Let's check out the center statue again..." Ambiance suggested. Maybe there was some kind of floor tile... or lever... In some dungeons back home, one had to leap onto a tile to change it. Other tiles needed merely to be touched... there were also levers, sometimes there was a box that needed to be set a certain way.... Ambiance only remembered the statue of ink and the statues all about them.... Was there a switch, lever, button, or tile on the ink statue to convince it to change colors?

════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════(next time you speed run the dungeon, ya gotta go here sooner... Or bring more lantern oil. lol ) Link agreed this was the best course of action at the moment. He didn't want to be wrong, especially when the stakes were so high. He was also pretty sure of he and Ambiance's combined intelligence.
So it was back to fumbling and tripping their way through the darkness. It was relieving, in a way, to not have light anymore only in that they didn't exactly have to rush anymore. When they finally got there the dragon was, of course, as it was when they last left it. It was a dragon, as one could tell by the pointed edges of the horns and spines, the serpentine curvature of its back, etc. Depending on how the two pressed on the statue different parts would move, and from this a change in the ink which dripped from its mouth. ... Could they do it? Could they match colors in the dark with the correct statue?

Ambiance~ Aura of Peace Oh, if only I could have been there I'd be a hand for the sinking Okay... so, the statue does change. .... There was a thought. If they changed the center's statue to match one of the outside ones.. the ink that came out of the mouth would match the dragon whose pose it had, right? Maybe?
"I have an idea." Ambiance moved to one of the statues. She made doubly sure to dry her hands as best she could before she inspected one of the forms around the circle. When she felt she knew how it looked, she returned to the center statue. (She did trip and fall on her face, but she picked herself up. Each of them had fallen multiple times already. Embarrassment was in the past.) On returning to the center statue, she changed its position to match that she had in her mind.
Then she dipped her hand in the liquid, and retraced the steps she took to the statue she had earlier tried to memorize. She checked with her dry hand to be sure it was the same, and then she touched the statue with the ink.
I wish I could protect you here Oh, please don't cry, now, smile (OoC: Yeah... in my ideal world, I already see in the dark, I have glowsticks in my back pocket, and I can burn anything. I would settle with being able to conjure fire and hold it in my palm, though.)
