You manage to fumble your way through a couple of gates, but the snowballs and elf attacks really do a number on your progress. 2 points

Who knew you were so good at sprinting on ice and leaping nimbly over precarious obstacles? The crowd is truly impressed! 10 points

Although this is definitely more difficult than you thought it would be, you're doing a decent job! Take your time! 6 points

You speed through the wreath run with only a few moments of hesitation! Great job! 8 points

You try to walk on top of the lowered branches anyway, in spite of the instructions you were given. It's a mistake. 0 points

Student Name: Frost in the Storm
Points Total: 43
Section One: 6
Section Two: 2+7=9
Section Three:8
Section Four: 0+10=10
Section Five: 10

Did you remember to use your speed stat? Yes
Did you use your luck stat for this challenge? No

Stage 1
What was that? You were doing pretty well until someone clipped you while they were skiing past. Rude. 6 points
Frost remembered the last time the school had held the house cup games. It had been a tight race, and overall, he was a bit fearful that once more, he'd end up failing and come short. He wanted ghosts to win, he so dearly wanted them to beat out demons and monsters and the like. The fact of the matter was, he doubted if they could. Ghosts in general were so few in number, and they were not often the most... built for speed and endurance and well. Anything physical. To him it all sort of edged into a territory of speciesims that he often tried to avoid but it was hard in this day and age with social media.

Running was Frost's forte, and skis were not running. They were the lame duck of snow transport to him, and instead, he'd rather be running. Plus running meant that he'd get hit less. Because on his feet in the snow? He had control. On skis? not so much.

Stage 2
You can't quite figure out where you're meant to go in the maze of hurdles. Plus, the floor is really slippery. You remain near the back of the pack the whole way. 2 points

Howling in anger, Frost wanted nothing more than to rip the skis off his feet and just run. How any student found wooden sticks any sort of enjoyable fun was beyond him, and running in the snow was vastly superior. Well, provided one was a white wolfos. If one was not okay then the student MIGHT have difficulty. Either way, Sticks were to chase and chew upon, not attaching to one's feet and trying to race down a hill upon. Christmas land had gotten this wrong. So very wrong.

Stage 3
Trying to pass another student on a balance beam? Probably not. At the mercy of the slowness of the student in front of you, you finish slightly slower than you might have liked. Still, it's an excellent showing! 8 points

Now while frost was a master of making sure that he was normally very balanced, himself on a beam while on sticks? Now that was just asking for a trip. Literally. He had anticipated himself falling all over the place, crashing and falling over and maybe running into his fellow students, (pointedly monsters.). However, Frost was somewhat delighted to discover he was actually better at this than the basic downhill and avoid the things trying to stop and or hit you. On the beam sure, more things were attempting to hit him, but that wasn't so bad given he could just let them, his body simply absorbing the snow around him naturally to compensate. That was one benefit he guessed of the course. He could snow shift easily as breathing. Not that he had to breath at all. He was safe upon the snow from nearly anything, provided he could touch the snow. That was just why he didn't mind the student holding him up so badly. The snowfall was enough to keep Frost from not only getting hurt, but also helped keep him aware to not get hit and knocked off the beam itself. a win win, even if it had eaten some valuable time.

Stage 4
There's a lot of tripping and flailing in your general vicinity. You're pretty sure the wreaths are somehow eventually lowered to counter your clumsiness. 0 points

This part was not one Frost had anticipated. The smell was strong and immediately he could feel his nose scrunch up and his eyes water. This was what heaven must be like. Terrible and reeking of pine like it was a cleanliness center for the woodlands. Normally, pine didn't bother him, he did grow up in a forest after all but with so much, so dense under his nose rather than over, coupled with decor, and sap? His head was swimming in scents. Dizzy, he took one breath and held it, pushing on wards to the home stretch. He could taste victory

Stage 5
You crawl like someone's chasing you! Go go go! 10 points

It was ironic that in the last leg, they'd ask him to get into the snow directly. A feral grin and Frost was off like a bullet, melting into the snow and using it as his natural medium, avoiding all the trees on the way.

Jack bless snow.

Haze the Demon Kitsune
◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆

Haze clenched together his teeth, his tail flicking against the ground as he looks. His feet securely fastened into skis. The dread on his face only growing as he looked out to the snow, he hates things on his feet. Not being able to feel the ground beneath them. It made him feel as if his senses were duller. But there was no turning back as his lips pressed together in a tight line, just anticipating the start of the race. As long as he gets down the hill fast he’ll be alright… right? The kitsune’s ears swiveled back as he wasn’t nearly enough excited to go full throttle into something like this.

But within moments he felt a force coax him forward, cool hair curling against his cheeks as he instinctively attempted to bend his knees a little. At least he didn’t have to use his arms for this. Red and silver eyes glancing to the gates that were rapidly approaching, Haze tried to use his weight to swerve into them but was foiled as he felt the force of soft snow pelt against his body. Baring his fangs he glared over at the snowmen and elves that were bent on creating obstacles for them. His tail flicked up, trying to protect himself from the onslaught of snow that continued to hurl against him. This allowed for the young kitsune to at least hit some of the gates… but the rest were all at a loss.

Reaching the bottom of the slope has was abruptly stopped by another icicle. Feeling the wind knocked out of him from the force he coughed briefly before realizing the others had started to continue to the next portion. Gladly kicking off his skins he’d thwomp his tail against the ground. Narrowing his eyes forward the Kitsune ran forward. His feet hitting the cool snow and then suddenly losing traction on hard slick ice. His heart almost jumped, with no friction beneath him he had to make an effort to dig down against the ice. Though even with all his effort it was hard to keep ahead. His frustration growing, blood growing hot in order to try to compel him forward.

That's the competitive spirit!

He couldn’t give up now, the more he wanted to beat the others the more excited he got. He was at the back of the group but he wasn’t even halfway through. There was still time, and so he pushed passed the last few hurdles in the maze. Completely forgetting about his dreaded surroundings a smile came across his face. Glancing forward he watched as stockings swayed back and forth along a balance beam. “This seems like fun~” Haze would say, the first few words coming out of his works the whole competition apart from the few grunts he had muttered about before. Something about him was different, his mood completely changed. Arms hanging limply at his sides his feet did all the work, etching against the balance beam with ease. With each step forward he became faster. Weaving near the stockings as the swung past him, only hitting him with a nice breeze instead of their entire force. His tail flicked back and forth in happiness, a overly excited laugh coming from his lips.

His confidence having spiked he easily got off the balance beam and was raring for the next challenge. Looking at the onslaught of wreaths that were now in front of him he took the first step forward. A chill running down his spine as he didn’t quite enjoy the feeling of these festive plants. Haze’s ears pinned to his head, his speed steadying “I don't like t-these at all” he muttered to himself with an eerie disdain. If it was his choice he would rip them all up and toss them to the side, but the fear of getting disqualified pitting itself in his stomach just kept him begrudgingly walking forward. Any advances he had made on the balance beam seeming completely lost now. No matter how painstakingly slow he went Haze was relieved to make it to the last leg of the race.

Crawling… not one of Haze’s strong points. But he was filled with determination seeing the end. Getting down on all fours he began to push his way through the piney branches. His arms practically no help as he had to use his legs to do all the work. Breath heaving against the cool ground. A sense of pain tingled throughout his entire body, his tail having gotten entangled by the branches he started to laugh from the pain. An odd reaction but it didn’t seem to slow him down any bit. Instead he continued to strain his body, letting the pain propel him forward underneath the countless trees that were in front of him. Ripping past the needle like branches as some of his fur was left behind. Clawing his way forward Haze finally made it out. His entire outfit dissolved, tail fluffed and matted with pine and little pieces of wood, tongue sticking out of his mouth panting with heavy breaths. He had now grown a new dislike for everything having to do with Christmas, and the rest of the tournament was only going to grow his disdain even more. At least he made it to the end in one piece.. regardless of the bits of his tail fur that was now decorating the trees behind him.

Muka definitely hadn't dressed for the occasion. His definition of casual wasn't quite what other people's was and he also wasn't aware that he wouldn't be able to fly.

He wasn't very good at keeping attentive to rules.

The owlman handled the skiing poorly. Most of it was taken at a slide and by the end he was tumbling head over tailfeathers like a large snowball down the hill... but at least he reached the bottom.

The next event was ice and his genius idea was to shift his legs and use his talons to move across, but digging them into the ice was slow going and while he did reach the other side he remained firmly in the back of the pack.

The balance beam was handled much like the ice and his talons gripped the beam so he could shimmy across it like an oversized pet parrot.

The field of wreaths was handled much better- with massive leaps. It wasn't flying but a few flaps helped him cover ground and the pine simply crushed under his weight as he landed. This was a much better plan than anything previous.

The final challence was terrible. Crawling? In these clothes? Still- the owl boil powered through and crushed any opposition with sheer size.

Raisa the Loup-Garou Monster
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

Raisa was excited, she always loved competitions and this was was no different. Though having to wear Skis in the beginning wasn’t her favorite way to start things off… but it was a requirement she guessed. Her canine feet strained to be fitted into the contraptions. Slipping and sliding every which way against the snow until she was propelled by an icicle forward. Her eyes winched shut for a moment as she had no control over her skis, but momentarily blinked opened only to be hit in the face with a snowball. Just her luck. She struggled to atleast make it through some of the gates “Ya nenavizhu eto”.. she seethed out in a harsh tone. Her words seeming to be dripping with hatred towards the unruly course and confinement.

Nevermind that, she had to keep going, but things didn’t seem to get any easier for her. Her soft padded feet slipping countless times against the ice that covered most of the next portion of track. Raisa’s face saw more of the cool ground than she desired. Though Raisa was filled with tenacity, she didn’t give up easily and no matter what obstacles she was faced with she used her best judgement to go forward. “Imma beat you stupid course!” she would say. Trudging through the balance beam, speeding through the wreaths. Her determination seemed to have helped her a bit. But as the young werewolf saw the pine trees outstretched above her she was fed up with having to listen to the rules. Raisa thought she would easily be able to climb over it, she did have good body strength to do so, so why not try?

That was the biggest mistake she would surely make, feeling her feet being pulled against by branches her breath left from her lungs suddenly. Eyes widening a** he was harshly pulled back down to the ground, feeling stinging against her skin as she was barraged with angry pine cones. “Po'shyol 'na hui!” she’d shout at the trees as if they could hear her. Seeming to be cussing them out as she tried to crawl away to the finish line. Parts of her body bruising and slightly swelling from the evil pine cones. Relief washed over her as she had finally reached the end, she may come back later and teach those trees a lesson or two. But for now she rubbed the back of her head, content and looking forward to the rest of the competition.

Aoe Shiki the demon Kitsune

The small demon boil stood at the start of the course, eyes huge as he took in what was ahead of him. He gulped and silently told himself he was going to have to do this. The little Kitsune glanced back to the booths, glad Camilla was manning it while he was away. He knew she could at least make sure none of the firefoxes headed out of the pens.

Well the white kitsune now had to make it through this task. Taking a fortifying breath he put on a pair of skis. The path before him seemed to have poles pegged up, and judging from what others had done, he seemed to have to go around them. Well that didn't seem to hard. He nodded a bit, and pushed off.

Whoosh... it all went past so very fast, and he did the task flawlessly. By the time he got to the end of that trail his tails were wagging. "Fun Fun!" he yipped bouncing in place after removing the skies. Sadly he had to move on and was not permitted to climb back up and do it all again.

ICE! The Kitsune squeaked and flopped on his backside right away. The small boy yipped sadly and scrambled around a moment before figuring out what to do. He finally after much trial made it to the other side of the ice, casting a dark look back at the previous task. Not nice at all. He folded his ears down giving a low growl at it.

The ice still seemed out to get him when he got on the balance beam, with feet still slippery he found himself tottering along arms spread, tails flipping around in an attempt to keep himself upright. He barely made it to the end before falling off on his face, but it all counted and at least he didn't have to start again. His nose was a little sore though.

Then he noticed what was going to come next. Wreath stacks. They were all so high! He looked at them at at himself and wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. He gulped and took a deep breath again, running forward. Surprisingly, despite them being so high he made it through the stacks with only a little problem, it wasn't near as bad at it first seemed.

Then the last was before him, the trees. He first tried to go over them, which with his claws would be easiest, but that didn't seem to be the right thing, since the trees themselves seemed to push him back down, finally he crawled as fast as he could under the trees, which was a good thing since he was small enough to wriggle through the obstacle with only minor issues.

He had finished! Racing to the finish he found himself more intimidated by that, than by the task he had gone through. So many there, and all making noise. He folded his ears back, tails drooping a bit. He did get a candy cane which he popped between his lips and started sucking on right away, and a nice medal he put on. Yay! Worth it!

Caoineadh The banshee

Keen had been having a bad day, and when she started the course it showed. It started on the ski slope, she put on the skies and started down, and everything seemed so great, until someone clipped her. The audacity, it had to be someone from another house but it didn't matter to her, it was just that someone did that, and made her fall. She hurt her ankle in the fall and winced as she got back to her feet and finished the slope at a slower pace.

Things only went down from there as she slipped probably a dozen times on the ice. It would have been so much nicer had she not been trying to favor her ankle, and if she could float, but that was against all the rules and she found herself suffering rather than having fun.

Once she hit the balance beam she knew that she was in big trouble, she couldn't even put her feet down well, and she looked more like she was crawling or just sliding along. It was a bad thing and it had to look more like she had no idea how to walk properly.

With her bad feelings she found herself heading through the wreath stacks. She was far too slow, and she found herself wishing she had skipped the day. Still she was out there and she was not going to just pass up the chance to get the points for her group, it seemed a bit more mocking though that a strange kindle seemed to be following her as she headed to the last task.

Looking to her side she noticed that a cute blue kindle was heading under the trees and she shrugged following it, the crawling motion felt much better on her sore ankle and she picked up speed going through there. She made it to the finishing line, and headed to get her prizes, the candy cane and medal, and she decided to take the blue kindle with her.

Part of her wasn't sure why she was putting herself through this again.

She had never been sporty, and the idea of doing sporty events for the approval of her entire house and race, for that matter, considering those that were cheering, made her uneasy. It showed in the way Serafina stood in her ghost tank top and blue shorts, shuffling her sneakered feet until they were grabbed and shoved into skis.

Skis?

The curtain lifting revealed a world that Serafina was admittedly not all that excited to see. Skiing? She had never gone skiing in her life, she had no idea how to do any of--

Serafina may have shrieked pathetically when the icicle smashed her in the back, but she managed to recover surprisingly quickly, catching her balance and skiing down the hill like she actually knew how to do it. She didn't really have time to be stunned by it, considering how quickly she was flying down the ski slope, and so she had to duck her head down and attempt to zip through the gates.

It worked. To say Serafina was floored was both true and literal, considering she was smacked in the face by an icicle shortly afterwards and fell to the ground, delaying her entry to the next area.

When she managed to regain her balance, though, she managed to scramble to her feet and start down the iciest branches she had ever seen. Very icy, in fact. Even though she had managed to regain her balance, she was not doing entirely well. Unfortunately, she wasn't particularly tall, and clearing the hurdles and barriers was not exactly the easiest thing for her to do. She could have just levitated, honestly, but she was fairly sure that was cheating...

Nevertheless, she eventually made it to the end, though she had lost considerable time.

Glancing up to the stands for a moment to remind herself why she was doing this, Serafina recentered herself, breathed, and focused forward.

She did make up some time on the balance beam ahead of her, which she tried quite hard to not consider the thinness of, but there was only so much she could do about the second student in front of her. Serafina scrunched her nose, feeling sabotaged by the student's presence, but she was sure they weren't aware. Besides, it gave her a chance to breathe. She needed one. Even if ghosts didn't necessarily sweat, it still felt like she was--

More tall things?

Serafina glanced down at her legs. This wasn't fair! How was she expected to pull this off? But she had to make her ghosts proud. She had to. She had to be good for something. She was a year three!

It was this boost of forced confidence that actually got her through the wreaths, Serafina hopping through them without a moment more of hesitation. Despite how much she had to boost herself over the taller wreaths, she overall got through them fairly fast. She was no master, but she was alright.

What she would end up being the master of was mud.

Internally, looking down at the mud she would have to crawl through, she cried. She didn't want to drag her shoes through this! They were so nice and clean and new and then they'd be gross -- but she knew what she had to do, once more looking at the crowd. Perhaps if she got through this quickly, she could minimize the damage and have her outfit all clean for the next sporty event the Cup had.

It was with that determination she crawled like she had literally never crawled before, and made it to the other end of the course and past the finish line in a flash.

The applause that greeted her came to a surprise, and Serafina's flush could be seen above her surgical mask. For her? They were cheering for her? She was certain she was not the fastest, but the cheers and the candy cane and even the participation medal was surprisingly flattering, and she murmured a, "Thank you," before scurrying off.

Ebele was likely overly decked out.

She had on the monster tank top, which had been suspiciously shrunk to make it look more like a sports bra than anything else. She had on the sweat pants. She had on the horn wraps, she had the glasses on like sunglasses, she had the sweat bands and the headbands and even managed to pin the bow on her tank top strap.

She was so ready for this.

Or, at least, that was what she had thought, before they stuck skis on her. Considering Miasma Village had mountains nearby, one would think she was better equipped to deal with them. That was where one would be absolutely and utterly wrong.

Perhaps she was just equipped for normal skiing, and not skiing that involved getting smacked with snowballs and bolas all the way down. While she was able to handle her maneuvering at least adequately, every hit that landed on her body slowed her down a bit, angering her. There was no way she would lose this! She had to win! Winning was the only thing worth doing!

Competitive spirit burning within her, Ebele didn't even care when she was smacked by another icicle. All she could think about was blasting through the rest of this course to prove herself indeed the best.

Unfortunately, competitiveness led to consuming distraction, which led to an inability for Ebele to even keep her balance. As soon as she entered the icy branches, she slipped and turned over, landing on her stomach and sliding down the branches. It was lucky that her position on the ground provided her with a way out of having to hop over the hurdles, allowing her to slide right underneath them. It was probably cheating. Competitive Ebele either didn't know this, or didn't care.

She threw herself right onto the balance beam next, not even caring that her back was on fire. Her determination drove her right through the balance beam like an absolute master, not even stopping to think about the stockings swinging around to theoretically knock her off.

She didn't stop to think about the wreaths either, which was honestly probably a mistake.

That was because Ebele quickly ended up tripping over every possible wreath she could, arms flailing around in circles to keep herself from falling over. She took every effort she could to stop herself from faceplanting, and thankfully, that was about all she could have asked for. Her speed carried through the rest of this part of the course, and into the next portion.

Her first thought was to try running across the branches, because honestly it made the most sense. The quick smack she got from one of the trees irritated her and she tried again, thinking that clearly it would resolve itself. It didn't.

Instead, she ended up upended entirely, swirling through the air and landing in the mud backwards.

After a moment of feeling a bit dazed, she managed to roll onto her stomach, brought herself to her hands and knees, and crawled out the rest of the way.

When she crossed the finish line, she flopped a bit like a fish in frustration. She was going to beat the obstacle course! At least, that was what she had thought at the beginning, before she was handed a participation medal and a candy cane.

A participation medal!

Her competitive fire didn't let her leave, though, and she sat around in the finishing area to make herself feel a bit better about doing so awful. She wasn't last! Ebele was still considerably better than others for sure!

Hrmph!

Damien could already feel the lingering effect of JOY on his being, the tell tale tingly feeling that made him want to curl his toes and wear something cuddly, the darn affliction that felt so .... good.

That and it being the house cup had him jittery like an exposed nerve, running around and being very carefree. It was a great time to forget the worries and cares and just have friendly competition. If only for a little while.

The hound was bright eyed and bushy tailed at the top of the slope. He was also wagging his tail like a helicopter at all the fluffy Snow! there was so much of it! It took a great amount of WILLPOWER not to just jump around in the foreign but cherished material, but stay on the skis and after a panicked yelp caused by the starting... push, he was off.

through signs and past sacrificial snowcreatures that tried to mar his pace and time.. all except or Buddy, who was the most straight edge snowblobbything that decided to sacrifice his full body to be a snowtroll and knock the pup off course. He will get you one day, buddy. one day. Damien loved the snow, but hated the Ice. it had no grip, none and he fell prey to gravity quite often on it.

Face, meet floor, thank jack for protective gear he prayed silently to himself. Why was there a balance beam after such slushy environments? Still the hound persevered after a scary test of balance from one over stuffed sock. It was compensating for something, demi surmised. The wreaths were.. potent, very disorientating with their strong scent that had the green eared boil twisted as he tried to find fresh air, anywhere. Preferably at the exit.

The pine road was thick and left little space to maneuver other than by its roots. in the cold mud, to crawl. It was slow going and quite prickly, ow pinecones, that was his butt!

He was sore but there was the finish line. and he was pooped.

Deacon wasn't sure which he disliked more; gnomes or elves.

It was really the primary thought in his mind instead of, say, worrying about whether or not he should have signed up for the House Cup in the first place. While the boil tried to stay moderately fit, he was far from what one might consider athletic... If only because cat, and laziness, and that whole thing about not caring much for heights or large bodies of water.

Belatedly, the tabby suddenly wondered if he'd be expected to swim in any of this and actually started to panic about it while the Interholiday Liaison officially opened the events.

Through all of the cheers - and also sounds of displeasure for how jolly and safe everything appeared - Deacon hoped his sigh of utter relief might have gone unnoticed by anyone other than himself.

He could deal with frozen water. This was fine.

Section One
You're a good skier sometimes! Sometimes. 4 points

Deacon wasn't the biggest fan of the idea of skiing. Not having his feet actually touching the ground was something that bugged him. It was the very reason he had literally thrown the sneakers he'd been given with the uniform set into the trash. Having anything restricting around his paws was uncomfortable, and the elves that were unlucky enough to be fitting the tabby had to hear him curse and complain about it the entire time they were in his presence.

For how much he wavered once the race actually began, one would question just how true the saying went about cats having impeccable balance. He was included in that statistic, from the look of things. It was a miracle in itself that he didn't fall of his own clumsiness, to say nothing of the snow and festive bola flying in from various directions. He awkwardly navigated through a handful of the gates, and it even surprised him that he accomplished as well as he did.

Stopping, however, wasn't as easy either. How fortunate that there was something at the base of the hill to collide with to fix that problem for him.

Section Two
Slippery. You fall down. A lot. 0 points
(+6 SPD)
You jump the hurdles better than most but worse than many. Still, it's a decent effort! 6 points

Several moments of regaining his senses and prying off the skis preceded Deacon's attempt at the second phase of this stupid course. Still irritated by the beginning of the thing, he didn't pay mind to just how slick the ground actually was.

He got two steps forward and slipped up to land hard on his a**.

It took a great deal of effort to get himself upright and balanced, and as much as he hated how cold his paw pads were now he could at least use his claws to get a bit of traction.

Once he'd righted himself from the initial tumble on the ice, he actually avoided falling again. Somehow. It wasn't without coming close, and he slid or stumbled into nearly as many hurdles as he managed to jump.

Section Three
Trying to pass another student on a balance beam? Probably not. At the mercy of the slowness of the student in front of you, you finish slightly slower than you might have liked. Still, it's an excellent showing! 8 points

Without stupid skis on his feet, apparently Deacon really did have some of that typical feline balance. He shook the snow and ice from his feet carefully at the start, and appeared to have no trouble crossing the beam.

Except for the fact that he had to slow down for the nervous individual in front of him. He had to bite his tongue to keep from saying anything that might get him into trouble again with the faculty, although he glowered at the student's back as he mentally tried to will them to fall off already so that he could move ahead more swiftly.

Section Four
Were you not being so careful, you might have finished things a little quicker. You also might have faceplanted. As it is you're doing pretty good! 6 points

After what felt like ages on the balance beam, the tabby sped forward to catch up, hoping to Jack he wasn't going to fall too far behind.

Deacon really, really didn't want to be picking pieces of these damn wreaths out of his feet after the race. He was trying to use care in where he stepped, even in trying to move quickly. As it turned out, his feet were perfectly safe and it was his face and hands he had to worry about when his foot caught on one stack and sent him headfirst into the next.

His pride was not surviving this obstacle course at all.

Section Five
Your hair/wings/tail/whatever gets caught on the branches as you crawl. Tough break, but at least you're not the slowest! 4 points
(+1 SPD)

The final stretch had Deacon thankful that there weren't things to ******** fall over. While he didn't much appreciate having to crawl like a dog through the mud, it was a lot better than giving himself more bruises. Plus, he could see just fine under the branches. Scratches were a different matter entirely, and Deacon was hissing out more curses when his tail got caught partway through.

Covered in mud and pine needles once he reached the finish line, he grumbled some halfhearted and unheard thanks toward the person who handed him a candy cane and medal without so much as actually looking them in the eye.

He wondered if there was time for him to take a shower before the second event started.

Yuki was in the event for fun and laughs, holding a positive stance among the crowd gathered. He was glad for a chance to see faces old and new, eager for a chance to make some new acquaintances and perhaps catch up with old ones in between the events themselves.

Section One
You manage to fumble your way through a couple of gates, but the snowballs and elf attacks really do a number on your progress. 2 points
(+6 SPD)
You very nearly complete a perfect run! If would have been perfect if it hadn't been for that vindictive jerk, Buddy the Snowman. 8 points

For someone who couldn't actually recall ever skiing, Yuki took to the gates like he'd done this sort of thing before. Granted, if he had done such a thing in his life, it was without having things pelted at him in the process, and he mucked up in one particular spot from the well-aimed attack of a very unfriendly looking snowman... He'd dodged so many things up until that point, too!

Section Two
One might think you are a natural hurdle hopper... if it wasn't for those tryhards up ahead. 8 points

Others slipped and lost their footing once they'd set foot onto the ice, but the ghost used the slippery surface to practically skate between the hurtles. Sure, he wasn't a master at the sliding or the jumping part, but he couldn't be ashamed of his progress while others weren't doing quite as well.

Section Three
You're so steady that you could probably do some cartwheels or something and still not fall off! It won't win you any extra points, but why not? 10 points

Was he supposed to run across the balance beam? He totally ran across the balance beam.

Section Four
Were you not being so careful, you might have finished things a little quicker. You also might have faceplanted. As it is you're doing pretty good! 6 points

Ok, so maybe Yuki had gotten a bit too confident by this point. Leave it to crashing headlong into wreaths to bring him down a few pegs. He was considerably slower once he got back up again...

Section Five
It's dark and slightly muddy under the branches. The combination slows you to a near standstill. 2 points
(+2 SPD)
Your hair/wings/tail/whatever gets caught on the branches as you crawl. Tough break, but at least you're not the slowest! 4 points

First he couldn't see properly, and then he felt a rough tug against his scalp. Oh... Well, there were troubles with having long hair, and it looked like he was going to face that today. Yuki pulled himself free carefully - more than once, in fact - trying not to literally rip his hair out at the final stretch.

Finally, he was able to stand straight again, reaching the finish line with messy hair and muddy clothes but otherwise considerably less battered than several others.

Tanvir had heard suggestion that there would be battling involved in whatever this House Cup was, so he was actually pretty disappointed that he had to run an obstacle course.

He also detested the clothes he had been expected to wear for this event. The dragon wasn't used to uniforms or even the fact that just because he'd been given an entire set of the dorm's specific items that he didn't actually have to wear absolutely everything.

Oh well, he could be thankful for the layers because ******** this snow and ice situation.

Section One
You very nearly complete a perfect run! If would have been perfect if it hadn't been for that vindictive jerk, Buddy the Snowman. 8 points

He'd never done this before. He was sure he'd never done this before. It was by pure luck of leaning and speeding far too fast downhill while dodging snowballs and ornaments that he made it through any gates at all.

He would remember that snowman's face... Maybe. All the snowmen looked strikingly similar, but he would try.

Section Two
Who knew you were so good at sprinting on ice and leaping nimbly over precarious obstacles? The crowd is truly impressed! 10 points

These shoes had surprising traction, actually.

Though, he did have had a bulky tail and wings to help balance.

Section Three
You're so steady that you could probably do some cartwheels or something and still not fall off! It won't win you any extra points, but why not? 10 points

The balance beam was as easy as the hurtles. Was this supposed to be a challenge? Who couldn't do this?

Section Four
You speed through the wreath run with only a few moments of hesitation! Great job! 8 points

At first, the dragon wasn't sure what was actually expected here, but as soon as he witnessed a few other students tackling the obstacle he caught on pretty quickly.

Section Five
You try to walk on top of the lowered branches anyway, in spite of the instructions you were given. It's a mistake. 0 points
(+4 SPD)
Your hair/wings/tail/whatever gets caught on the branches as you crawl. Tough break, but at least you're not the slowest! 4 points

Fearing that his wings were too much of a hassle to deal with, Tanvir was just going to go over top of where everyone else was crawling...

Hopefully when he fell through he didn't hurt the student he landed on too badly.

He continued the rest of the way as he was supposed to, his very concern of his wings catching up doing just that. At least it didn't hurt much; it was just annoying. He also hated the small space in general... That urged him to move as quickly as he could.

Out from the final obstacle and able to stretch on his way to the actual finish line, he accepted the tokens of completion and followed the masses that were moving away, imagining that he'd be properly instructed on where to go next.

Nerisei drifted around with the rest of her dorm, silently watching the creeple around her. The entire group was surrounded by elves and gnomes, all decked out in some christmas cheer. It was a bit of a sight, the large students being led by small creatures, but it all worked out. The crowd was successfully drawn into a large silver stadium, one Nerisei didn't recall being on the campus.

Had they made the stadium simply for a house cup?

As she made her way, she realized the ground was raising, and she was on a ramp that led to a liaison. Keeping her mouth shut, Nerisei had a sinking feeling she wasn't going to enjoy this task. Maybe she should have paid more attention to the fliers around the school.

The liaison spoke up, and all around her raised cheers. Closing her eyes in reaction to the noise, she didn't realize the curtain had opened until the noise shook the ground and she was forced to look around. All she had was a moment to look at the course in horror, before a bell run and the surge of the creeple around her forced her forward onto the course.

Somehow, she had sticks on her legs, and was shoved down a hill covered with snow. She slid and slipped, but was not successful in avoiding the things around her. At least she made it through some of the gates, which seemed to be the goal of the task. From what she saw, there were others that seemed to fall instead of slide, so at least she wasn't that bad.

As she finally finished the hill, her skis were removed and she was pushed once more to the next task. The wood was familiar, and she smirked a bit before she realized it was all on ice. Would she need to crawl? Grumbling, she made her way across and was doing well with her progress until a spare tail slapped out and pushed her to her knees. Grumbling again, she ignored the crowd's response and attempted to preserve her dignity.

The next task was a balance beam with swinging stockings attempting to push people off. Nerisei was not in the mood to fall again, so she slowly made her path with care. It was surprisingly easy to make her way across, and she gave a little smirk when she was safe on the ground once more. The same pace was what she did as she made her way through the wreath land, although her pace was much slower than those around her. Maybe she should have manipulated them a bit.

The final task was crawling, and Nerisei paused a minute to glare. The trees didn't respond to her look, so she got to her knees and let out a grumble. As she crawled, she felt as if her pace was decent. Once again, she didn't rush, but she wasn't slow either. Some attempted to climb over and fell, and others were dragging pretty far back. But as she made it through, she caught sight of the finish line.

Standing and slowly brushing her knees from the snow and pine needles, Nerisei strolled to the finish line where she was greeted by Christmas Citizens who were cheering. Maybe it wasn't for her, but they were cheering and so she nodded in return. They at least looked interesting. Moving to grab her candy cane, she accepted the medal as well, although she knew she was mediocre at best. Nerisei walked away without watching others, wishing to get as far away from the course as possible so she wouldn't be dragged to run it again.

Jarrod looked at the obstacle course both exited and a bit confused. He wasn't sure what to really think of it. He hoped it wouldn't be to difficult as it didn't look really that difficult but he also felt that was probably wrong. It wasn't going to be easy at all. He just hoped he would do at least a little bit okay when it started and he had to get moving which wasn't easy for him as he wasn't used to it. He tried not to end up last. He was going to have a great start.

Section One: This was alot easier than he thought it would be as he wasn't used to skis at all. He just raced at a good speed forward going past quite a few other students. He obstacles and the gates didn't seem to be a problem at all. He was just getting past all the gates easily at the correct way and that did feel good. He wasn't even bothered that much by all the things tossed at him even thinking it was all a bit funny. He was sure it was going to get harder later so he tried to do his best now as he was still doing great.

Section Two: Jarrod was now flat bit of the cource and it all looked really strange to him. It looked like an ice-maze and he had to slow down alot. It wasn't really this difficult to go forward but he just didn't know which way to go. He was now quite lost and he didn't want to race into a wrong direction. He slowly continued to find the right way to go. He saw other struggling too so he luckily wasn't the only one with problems here. He wasn't too happy he had to slow down so much but he was still going somewhere, right?

Section Three: He seemed to have made it though the maze but he wasn't happy with the balance beam he saw now but it looked like the had to cross it. It was possible for him to get to the other side even if it was slippery and he had to look out for the huge stockings. The best thing he could do was to get to the other side slowly and that was what he did. Again unhappy that he still wasn't making any speed but he just wanted to get to the other side. If he didn't want to fall he had to stay slow. He was very happy when he finally reached the other side without to much problems. He hoped to speed up now but probably not.

Section Four: He was again going really slow. Not because he didn't know where to go or to be careful but because he really couldn't go any faster. He had lots of trouble getting though the fir wreaths. It was almost impossible to walk around. He was going so slow he was almost sure he was going to be the last one to get to the finish. He knew he would get there but it was just going to take alot of time. Way to much time.

Section Five: It looked like he had to crawl this time but he was okay with that. He was now going faster than he had been most of the course. He wasn't as fast as he was at the start but he was doing pretty good now. He was very happy it was going this good. The last part wasn't really the worst part as he had feared. He was really happy to see the other side.

He made it! Much slower as he had hoped but he still made it. He was quite happy now. He was sure some other student had done worse than him. It was good.
