Duga didn't answer right away. She blinked her eyes a few times, trying to get her eyes to adjust more quickly. It worked, a bit. That was good, at least. She wasn't going to be completely blind. Though that hadn't been a concern until she confirmed that it wasn't an issue, it still came to as a relief to her. Something had been asked... what was that... Ah, yes... "I can try," she said, answering Nova's query. She was certainly hungry enough. "How long was I asleep?"

"Not long at all," Nova answered. She nudged the berries closer to Duga so they would be easier for her to reach. "I was only gone for about ten minutes, and you woke up just as I got back. You can sleep some more if you like, I'll stay here and watch over you."

Duga smiled a bit at the offer. "Thank you," she murmured. She followed her nose to the pile of berries and tried eating a couple. She had to force herself to do so slowly and to savor the rich berry flavor of each one before eating another. She knew that if she ate too quickly she would only make herself sick, and she didn't want to waste Nova's considerate efforts. It was difficult, though, when her stomach kept yelling at her to eat more, faster.

Nova watched over her, hovering worriedly. Duga seemed to know better than to eat too much, too fast. Either that or she was feeling sick to her stomach and was forcing herself to eat, just to make Nova feel better. She shook her head a bit. "How is it?" she asked, trying hard not to fuss too much. Maybe she should have brought someone else back with her. Someone who would know how to handle a sick stranger better than she did. Nova didn't want to do more damage because of her own ignorance. But she also didn't want to just leave Duga laying out in the open without any company or protection. Not that Nova thought the other mare was in much danger. Thanks to Zahavah's efforts, their valley was relatively safe. But then, Nova had thought it was safe when she was a child, and a skinwalker had almost eaten her. No, she didn't want to take the risk.

"They're good," Duga assured her, after swallowing. "I don't want to eat too quickly, though... I'm already feeling better. Thank you..." she tested her eyesight again and was relieved to find that she could in fact see once more. She looked to her side to finally see her savior. She blinked a bit, startled to see that the lovely song she'd been hearing all along was matched by the gentle face peering at her. Nova appeared to be a half imp, if the horns were any indication. That was a bit surprising, considering how kind Nova had been. Most imps Duga had met so far had been... well... more mischievous than helpful. Perhaps Nova didn't have that much imp in her. Either way, Duga was pleased to find that her savior was in fact an adult, though a young one.

Nova met those golden eyes and guessed that Duga was able to see again. She gave the other mare a relieved smile."Good... If you need more, just let me know. I can go get some. Or I could get you some water. The stream is a bit further away, so it will take me more than a few minutes to get there and back. Or, if you're feeling up to it, we can try to get to Midagi's place." Ideally, Nova would prefer to take Duga home to her family. One of her parents would be able to help Duga far better than Nova could. But their home was on the far side of the valley, near the river. Midagi's fortress would be much closer and easier to get to. If she could just drop Duga off with him, she could run home and report back to her parents...
Nova glanced at the sky, trying to gauge the time. She'd have to send word back, regardless, before Zahavah started to worry about her. As the only one still staying at home, Nova often found herself the focus of her parent's overprotective natures. She was hoping that they would find themselves with baskets soon. Maybe then she'd have a little more wiggle room.

Duga considered for a moment. She was exhausted, and ached. And now that her stomach wasn't complaining as loudly, she became aware of just how filthy she was. Her skin itched with the need to wash up. A stream would help with that, assuming it was safe to wash in. "I can try to walk to the stream," she decided. The sooner she regained her strength, the better she would feel. She decided, however, to hold off on asking about a bath. She didn't want to put Nova in any awkward spots just yet. When they reached the stream, she would ask where she could wash up. Most streams had an off shoot or safe place where soquili could bathe. At least, they always did in Duga's experience.

"Whenever you're ready," Nova said, more to reassure Duga that she wasn't trying to rush her than because she was eager to get moving.
When Duga was prepared to get up and move again, Nova helped her to the stream, where she was able to drink. The other mare had a chance to drink her fill and rinse off, Nova found time to send a message to her parents, letting them know she was taking care of a stranger. It took Duga a few days to get enough strength back to meet Zahavah. During that time, the two mares found themselves enjoying one another's company.
