Small horns, a lack of wings, short hair and well-kempt claws meant that Astra was well-equipped for breakdancing. The acrobatic flips and spinning motion were great fun, and the style was a showstopper– and something they could do alone. Setting up the music, Astra grinned, laying down a large, square yoga mat and stepping to its center before starting to wrap their hands as the beat started.
And a four, three, two... she started moving after the fourth measure, keeping it to a basic sway at first, making sure her head, shoulders, hips, hands and knees were part of it before she started stepping.
Only once the beat dropped did she start showing off in earnest, instantly throwing herself down to the ground and starting to work her momentum, spinning and freezing with the beat before rolling herself up and stopping with some basic flourishes and– at one point– a cocky curtsy in the middle of a set.
The end was maybe a little sloppy, but in her defense, popping from a headstand freeze was difficult, and she came down too soon.
Still, for a little under a week and a routine she'd made sure to practice only out of the others' views, she was confident she'd at least wowed some of her classmates.
Cuileann spent as much time practicing for this as she could in between her other studies. Dance made her feel free a feeling she could not explain.
Studying the different styles and types of dance she felt most compelled towards Ballet. The subtle movements, the twists and standing on your toes was entrancing. Although a Dryad she had to be careful with the shoes due to her legs.
Picking her music was hard since she adored most of the music she heard from Ballet but finally settled on one that seemed upbeat but calm to her and it moved her in a way that made her want to dance.
Taking a deep breath she spun herself out onto the floor with her classmates as the Music began and off she went. Twirling, jumping, leaping and giggling as she went along, lost to the music she just moved as her body wanted. Fluid and relaxed she danced the entire floor and back again before the music ended as it did she bowed with a flourish and a flush to her already red cheeks with her eyes glowing from happiness.
Honestly, Zuna had no idea what the proper term for the style of dance xe was doing. It was possibly...modern style? If xe had to give it a name, xe would probably just shrug and say "It's dancing, does it really need a name?" It was active, it allowed xem to listen to music, and it got the heart beating hard in xeir neck. What more did it need?
Probably a bit more form, to be honest. Zuna didn't do very well at the dance when it came time to perform, occasionally missing the beat and once even stumbling in the middle of xeir performance.
Okay, so xe'd done a terrible job. Xe gritted xeir teeth and showed the class an embarrassed smile, as if everything had gone according to plan. I'll improve the routine later, xe told xemself as xe turned off the music. I might want the ground to open up under my feet right now, but I'll feel better in a few hours.
Eirin stumbled and did her dance, it wasn't very good. Her movements were clunky. She really felt like dancing wasn't her thing. She was pretty much ready to give up when she fell on the floor on her first move. She had chosen Flight of the bumble bee which she totally put to shame, because she was so bad at dancing.
Kalani thought the ribbon dancing looked super pretty and graceful, and was eager to give it a try!
He got tangled in the ribbon in the first minute.
No matter how hard he tried he frequently had to untangle himself from the clutches of the ribbon, watching a little jealously as his classmates seemed to float around with ease. It had to be his tail, tripping him up whenever he tried to do anything really pretty with the ribbon.
By the end of the class Kalani was a bit frustrated. He'd been forced to keep the ribbon away from his body, which was still kinda hard and not really as fun. He consoled himself with the thought of a swim later, which would at least make him feel less clumsy!
Freddy was having a blast with dance class! He didn't think he was super good at it, but it was still a lot of fun and a good way to work out some energy. He was excited when he heard the assignment, already having a song in mind.
He never really got into any one of the particular styles, and his moves frequently incorporated little bits of everything. He just moved however the music made him feel. If he really had to put a name to his style he would say he was probably like a street dancer.
What Freddy might have lacked in proper technique he more than made up for it with enthusiasm and performance. As soon as the music started he was moving. If he stumbled or didn't get a move just right, he kept right on going. His expression morphed as he danced, and even if he thought he wasn't very good it was still a true performance.
As the music came to a close Freddy finished his dance with a flourish. He was breathing pretty heavily but there was a huge grin on his face. He had greatly enjoyed himself, and hoped the rest of the class enjoyed his dance!

Congrats everyone! You all passed! c: Give me a little bit to think up some new activities and I'll get this opened for Feb.!
Muridae was in dance class, and as soon as the teacher said "pair up" she knew she was in the wrong class. Really, the nightmare didn't know what she should have expected. Maybe they would have taught her something current, "the shopping cart"? Well it was too late for that now, and Muridae tried not to tear up as she partnered with someone she did not know. Somehow, she managed to dance all right, and was soon done. Muridae scurried back out the class, relief flooding her.
Eudica (4) Eudica, as per her usual, didn't really care too much about the dance class. She knew she was pretty great just as her self, but hey, personal improvement is never a thing to be passed up on. The nightmare had her usual icy look on as a partner was assigned to her, and Eudica lead her partner in dance.
Clair (16) Clair was a little more erratic in her dancing. Once assigned a partner the nightmare went all out, twirling, swirling, and moving to the beat. Her tails swished, her wings flapped, and she just in general had quite a lot of fun with the dance. Unfortunately, her dancing was not really in theme...

Frit ( 2 ) Frit was not really what one would call a fan of dancing. She was much more interested in the hard sciences and observations that other classes offered. Tho she did need to learn more about this "social" thing she was supposedly missing out on. The nightmare found a partner, and was too busy writing notes about what her partner was doing to really dance. In the end, frit was left standing still in the middle of the dance floor, writing in her notebook.

Zoey realized she had been focusing a lot on solo dances lately, but it was often fun to have a partner or two when dancing. There were different tricks you could pull off and could be a variety of fun style. "I would like you all to pick at least one partner and create a dance together. It can be in any style you like. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!" Zoey watched as her students began to pair up and she stayed ready at the front of class to help them out if they needed it.

Laurel was super nervous when she heard about the assignment, but determined to do her very best. The group she was with all picked a song, worked on some moves, and managed to create a dance. There was a lot of initial fumbling from some of the group, Laurel included, but everyone tried to remind themselves it was supposed to be fun and not to worry too much if they missed a step.
When it was there turn to perform in class Laurel had mixed feelings. She felt her dancing could have been more in-sync with the rest of the group and a couple times she fell behind completely, but she kept reminding herself to just go with the flow and have fun and she was able to complete the routine with a smile on her face. Still, it seemed like she was much better at setting her feet to a straight run than dancing all over the floor!
Turnip spent the dance stepping on Gwen's feet as she was leading him across the dance floor with grace and skill that clearly Turnip didn't have. They had chosen to do a waltz together so he tried to hold Gwen correctly and trying to think in his head one two three one two three. His biggest mistake was he kept trying to watch his feet rather than looking at Gwen.
Gwen was really shocked that she was as good at this as she was, she figured she would be the one stepping on this hybrids feet. It turned out to be the other way around. Gwen was able to look at Turnip as they dance it had been easy for her to remember the steps.

A dance class for a fey, even one half-fey, could probably be considered cheating or an "easy A" but Eirian saw it as something else. To them it was another way to express themselves. It was also a way to learn dances from other cultures, not just the fey.
With that in mind, when they were told to partner up and create a dance together, Eirian called over to a naga. It was a lot of fun trying to merge their styles together and make some stand-out parts. It took them some time to get it all done, but Eirian was eager to perform.
The dance was pretty good, all things considered. The only hiccup was when Eirian closed their eyes for just a second and lost their orientation causing themselves to slap their partner in the face. Thankfully he took it in stride and the two were able to complete their routine.

Cyril swallowed dryly, seeing the kirin hybrid he'd been paired with. Georgette was nice enough in class, but he was much bigger than expected now that they were to dance with one another. His hands especially were huge. Cyril had done his best to keep his attention on the dance they were working on, but kept getting distracted, especially when they joined hands to do the final steps. It didn't help that Georgette seemed just as pleased to be in this class as he was.
For their performance, they were doing hesitantly ok at the beginning. Things rapidly deteriorated from there. Cyril mixed up half the steps and managed to trip over his own feet, then as he went to take Georgette's hands for the final steps, his pattern flashing a panicked display, the hybrid stomped hard on his foot. With a cry of pain, he tore away to clutch at his foot, certain something was broken. The motion brought him to the edge of the crowd watching and he fell into it, tumbling over at least three other classmates. The geist would have fled, but the pain in his foot made it so that he didn't get more than a couple steps away before falling to the floor again. He was so horrified that he didn't notice who the teacher sent to take him to the nurse, just apologizing as best he could as he was forced to lean against them to make it there.

Pepper had been dreading the dance class ever since she got the news she'd be taking it. It wasn't that she didn't think the class was fun, she just didn't think she'd be any good at it. She wasn't the most graceful of her friends, though she also wasn't tripping over herself walking across the hall like some of her friends. Nevertheless that was much different from dancing, especially partnered dancing.
But it appeared that all her worries were for naught. Her partner turned out to be a most charming grimm who helped her learn the steps they planned. When it came time for the actual presentation, Pepper let him take the lead and they did much better than she'd dared to hope. It wasn't flawless by any means, but the missteps weren't the disaster she'd expected they would be. When they'd finished the assignment and didn't have to spend quite so much time together, Pepper found she missed the striking grimm boy and hoped they'd have a chance to partner up again soon.
