Honestly he'd probably at least browse the book, probably during one of his many timeouts... Well. Not many anymore, they seemed to be coming less frequently which was both refreshing and curious to Ganymede... Were Vaden's lessons on manners paying off? He wasn't sure how he felt about that.
"Ah... Okay. I think I can do that." He nodded, then slid off of the bench carefully, still holding the box in his arms. He then climbed onto the bus and found an empty seat to sit in while they waited for the next stop. "After she gets all calmed down and stuff I can play with her outside of the cage though, right?" Honestly coming from a kid with Ganymede's track record "play" almost sounded menacing, but he didn't mean any harm by it.

Vaden took the seat next to Gany and got everything situated so that he would be blocking the aisle as little as possible. "I know you can." He said giving Gany a small smile. "Also you should clean out her cage every week or two. Three maybe if she's a tidy rat and only does her business in one corner of her cage. Some will do that, since they too don't like their waste to be any closer to their food or sleeping areas than necessary. Like people in that respect."
He watched a few people get off at the next stop, having to adjust one bag with all their shopping in it so they could get off before he answered the next question. "Yes. Just don't get discouraged if that takes awhile, because she might want to run off the instant you loosen your grip."

He nodded along, listening to the instructions. "Okay. That sounds easy enough." Though... the question of where to put her came to mind... Ah well, he'd figure something out, he liked to think he was a clever kid. Not like he was aware of the vast amount of knowledge he didn't know yet.
"I won't. But I don't think she'll really have anywhere to go if she gets loose. I guess she could get lost in Ella's plushies... She has a lot." He huffed a little, rolling his eyes. Ella had sooooo many plushies. It was ridiculous.

"Never under estimate a flitterat, Gany." he said glancing over. "Just because you don't see any escape routes doesn't mean she doesn't. Even the gap between your door and the floor might be wide enough for her to wiggle under and run off." he reached up and tugged the cord and indicated that Gany should get up as their stop was approaching. "Try not to let her get into people's things...even your own. They can be destructive little critters sometimes."
Once the bus came to a stop and he got up and helped Gany off and then started down the street towards their next stop. "So what are you thinking about for dinner?" he asked.

"They can do that?? Under the door? What about the wings???" He frowned, immediately becoming... concerned? Yeah. That was the feeling... Just the mental picture of the poor little thing breaking her wings in an escape attempt made him shudder. Ugh. He definitely wouldn't be letting that happen. Maybe he'd put up a rule that the door had to be blocked whenever she was out... Hm...
He slid off of his seat once the bus was stopped, then followed after Vaden. "I dunno, we're gonna go to that fast place nearby right?" He looked up at him as he walked for a brief moment, then returned to watching where he was going. He didn't want to trip with Rubelite in the box..... "I like the chicken strips. They're pretty good."

Vaden tried not to laugh at Gany's concern. It almost seemed like he thought the wings were static features and that she wouldn't be able to move them. "She'd spread them out out to her sides while she wiggled. Rats are able to make themselves very flat when they want to be. Generally the rules are if they can get their head through somewhere, the rest of them can follow." he said. "She isn't going to intentionally break a part of her body, Gany. No animal Likes to hurt themselves." he could think of a few exceptions, but he was fairly sure that Revenants and Gryfoo's didn't really count as they weren't incredibly bright to start with, and most of their injuries were accidental.
Vaden nodded in agreement. "Yes the little short order place." he was fairly sure that's what they were called. They were faster than a "proper" restaurant, but slower than fast food. "I like the pulled pork sandwich...and the onion rings." he said. Those were definitely items that had never been on the menu at home. "Shake or no shake?"

"I didn't think she could get them that flat on her body to do that..." He blinked, supposing that made sense... but really? Just the head meant the rest of their body could go, too? That was a lot of small places she could get into... Crap. "I know, but if she wanted out badly enough maybe she would." That would be his own logic, though. He'd done it plenty of times before. It usually ended up in a trip to the nurse's office, but he'd felt it was worth it.
"Yeah, I like the chicken strips there, then" He nodded, thinking for a moment - just for show - before humming a small affirmative. "Yes, I want a milkshake too. Since we aren't going to the boutiques can I get the hot fudge? I do have allowance for that!" He grinned wide. Vaden had timed this outing right after he'd made clothing purchases, so his funds were fairly low. But he was getting taller! At least a little. So he'd needed new clothes.

"Animals can do a lot of surprising things." he said. He then nodded in agreement. "Yes, sometimes panic will drive animals to do very stupid things, but that's why we're going to acclimate her slowly and make sure she's as comfortable and happy as she can be so that she won't feel that breaking herself is better than staying where she is." He'd seen a rat hang itself before...poor thing had been freaking out because of a visiting vespercat that thought cage equaled food holder. Vaden hadn't known the cat was in his room, and even after getting rid of the cat it hadn't stopped the rat from killing itself. Several of the scars on the tips of his fingers were from him trying to hold that rat and get it to calm down. He'd been eight.
Vaden sighed. Child was always trying to get extra chocolate on everything, and he didn't really understand why. Chocolate was...okay, he supposed, but it wasn't his favorite. "Yes, this time you can." he said giving in. It wasn't worth the right and today was supposed to be special after all.
Just up another block and around a corner and the little place came into view. It wasn't really much more than a little hut that was mostly kitchen. There were a few places to eat inside if the weather was bad, but most of the dining area was an assortment of tables outside. "You want the basket with fries, right? Or just the strips?" he said making sure he'd get Gany's order right as he claimed a table and set down bags.

Another drawn out explanation... but at least it was interesting. He wasn't really sure he agreed that it was "stupid" to do anything and everything to get out of a situation you didn't want to be in, but then again his qualifiers for what was and wasn't stupid had always been a little... awry. "I think she'll settle fast." He nodded, noting to himself that she wasn't trying to break open the top of the box at the moment... but who knew if she'd start up again.
He grinned wide at Vaden's giving in to his request. He figured if he'd offered to pay for it he'd probably get it. "Good!! It tastes better with the hot fudge mixed in." He nodded as if it were a matter of fact. "Yeah, but I don't want a lot of fries!" He found a table to sit at, then climbed into his seat and carefully set Rubelite's box on the table.

Vaden pulled out the pack of bedding and set it on the top of the box making sure it wasn't crushing it. Satisfied it wasn't, he looked over at Gany.
"How?" he asked skeptically. "Hot fudge is dense it just sinks to the bottom...or doesn't mix at all and just makes big globy chunks, or it's just on top...and not mixed at all and pointless..." he shook his head and went over the the window placing the order. Gany's caretaker was probably going to kill him for letting the kid get that much sugar into him, but to late for that.
He got the number and then went back to the table to wait for their food to be ready. "Can only hope she will, Gany. Never can tell." he said.

Vaden had clearly never had a chocolate milkshake with hot fudge mixed in. Clearly. "Nuh-uh, when they mix it in while it's all hot it blends in fine and the leftover sinks to the bottom for an extra treat." He nodded. "Plus it adds to the taste!" That was the main reason he wanted it, honestly.
He waited at the table while Vaden placed their order, watching Rubelite through her breathing holes... she'd taken to sticking her nose almost through one of them and sniffing about before retreating for a few minutes. It was very amusing. Absently he wondered if she could eat a fry... she was probably hungry in there. Nevermind that she'd had plenty of food in the shop.
"I have a feeling she will." He nodded, looking up at Vaden once he returned.

Vaden was going to argue the laws of thermodynamics to the child, but that was a conversation that would go nowhere, not to mention Vaden would get to the point of "Because" rather quickly. An answer that didn't do much except irritate Gany to no end. Leave it to a kid to want to rewrite the laws of the world when it suited them, especially Gany. Thank the gods that super powers were something of fiction and not actuality, because Gany was a shoo in for manipulation of the laws of reality. Small mercies.
He watched Gany peep into the holes and watch the rat inside. "Don't feed her any of your food okay? People food will be something very new to her and could be a shock to her digestive system. If you really want to give her people food, start her off with fruit, vegetables or a tiny bit of dark chocolate. They're better for her than something deep fried and salty. Especially since she hasn't got anything to drink right now." he said figuring it might be on the kids mind. "And don't give her those things very often, if you do. She can't throw up if something makes her sick like you can, and besides her getting ill, you'll make her fat and she won't be able to glide anymore."
He looked over at the window as their number came up and he went over to retrieve their order. He'd even indulged just a bit for himself and gotten a vanilla shake.

"I won't." Darn. Foiled already. Though, he supposed Vaden made sense... Suddenly he started to worry if she hadn't gotten enough water before she'd been put into the box. He'd just have to eat quickly, that was all. "Flitterats can't throw up?" He tore his gaze away from the box to stare at Vaden curiously. How strange. He supposed throwing up had it's uses but still, good for them. It was gross and not pleasant at all.
Ah, food time! He waited while Vaden got their food, not wanting to leave Rubelite unsupervised. What if she managed to knock the bedding off? Or maybe chewed a hole in the side of the box to escape? Oooh no. He'd be watching her non-stop 'til they got home.

He set the tray down and put Gany's basket of food in front of him along with his shake before sitting down himself. "There are lots of animals that can't actually. Their digestive systems just aren't designed to go both ways. It's why you have to make sure they don't eat bad things, or overeat because their bodies have no way to reject the food." he took out an onion ring and nibbled on it while he unwrapped his sandwich.
He glanced up and smirked a bit as a nose poked out. "Sorry, little lady. Nothing for you." he said then took a bite of his sandwich and then looked around at the few other patrons eating at this hour.

He sat up a little straighter once his food was set down. "Thank you Vaden." He then picked up a chicken strip to munch on while he watched Rubelite poke at a couple of the holes, oh, he even saw a paw... She must really want out of there. "I can give her one of the treats when she's in the cage though, right?" He looked back to Vaden and tilted his head.
"Since she seems to want something so bad."
