Zuleika was uneasy about this whole business. Something about it just made her want to hide in her grandmother's gardens until it was all over. The whole thing just made her so very sad, even though she'd still been small when it had happened. But she had to persevere. For her grandmother's sake. Nobody was sadder than she was, and it broke Zuleika's heart to see her in such grief.
This was her first real encounter with mortals, other than her mother, and she was somewhat nervous about how she was supposed to act. She put on an incredibly neutral expression as she walked through the gathering crowd until she spotted Aliza. Yes! Being with her identical twin would definitely help her feel better. She purposefully strode over to the pillar where her sister was, then flitted to the top. The broken column was big enough for both of them to sit on if they did it right.
"Can I join you?" she asked with a little grin, but it faded when she saw Aliza's facial expression.
"What? What happened?" She looked between Aliza's face and the mirror.

With a sad sigh Lillibeth affirmed, "So far that is all we have. Our beloved Mayu requested to be notified as soon as we have anything. The arrow just doesn't seem enough. It seems to be made of different stuff and the broken cord is odd, just not enough to worry anyone, yet." To sound the alarm before there was cause was just unbecoming!
Ah, a bobble, only natural that they would be drawn to ones such as herself and her sister. Another odd one walked in and seemed to be standing alone. He looked good enough to do the dirty work should it be required, "Sister, I'll leave you to your bobble. We have such work ahead with the ornaments. I'll see what I can do with this one." Waving in the direction of the male whom had caught her eye. With a warm smile to her sister, and a nod to the shiny fae, Lillibeth took her graceful leave.
Perching above her chosen work mule, the harpy preened to be sure everything was just so before speaking, "Come to help solve the mystery? How noble of you to have initiative!" Her words sounded of trilling praise, those that knew her would know otherwise. The mix was getting a little better, for all Venus' gift to the isle it was still insufficient. The faun caught her eye right way, distracting her enough not to notice another sibling showing oh so much family affection. That one would get special attention when it came to her suspect of choice.
Going back to what was around her, she noted Iordane, the fae and Himeros with some interest. There was a place for a few talents of hers. No time to be direct as she put on a smile to greet Iordanes, "Hello, Iordanes dear." She'd remember the lack of a greeting in the future, and the fae that had both the brother's attentions.
Only by chance had she noticed Kleta as she had scanned the room still. Much too many greeting each other or looking for partners. There was a villain to catch! With a wave and another smile she greeted the other Goddess from the distances that was closing.

Haku Jo gave a small noise of surprise and nearly dropped his baby upon the feathered herald's sudden words from behind him. Making a desperate grab for the potted plant before it hit the floor, he turned to give her a glare that could rival glaciers. He did NOT appreciate the near death of his poor succulent.
"Obviously, you have no idea why I am here." he sneered, clutching his prickly baby closer to his chest. "I arrived simply for the food" he snarked, before rolling his eyes in annoyance at the golden fluffy creature perched before him.

Lannister's eyes widened as the stranger approached him, he shook the males hand. "Lannister." He responded, introducing himself. This other, Pelagious, was forward, far more so than Lannister could ever be. It would make them a good pair though, two very different minds working together. Aside from that the other actually looked like he knew what he was doing.
He was going to have to speak, there was no way he could investigate the matter without doing a great deal of talking. Thankfully it seemed like Pelagious could do most of the talking for him. "I think that's a good idea." His voice was soft and quiet, a sharp contrast to the other.
He quickly took his hand back when Pelagious let it go, his eyes following the males finger. With the shout, his eyes widened again. Since he normally lived a peaceful, quiet life, this was going to take some getting used to. He delayed a moment before following Pelagious. At least it seemed like this guy was on the same track as him. Interview the deity first.
Kleta was returning the wave, when she noticed who was making a beeline towards her. "Not again..." she muttered under her breath with a few choice curses. She cursed the dance she had been forced to participate in all those seasons ago, she was a soldier not a dancer. It was that event that had introduced her to the mortal that was now heading towards her. She was the goddess of fame, but this lost puppy was not what she had asked for.
Kleta decided against joining the other deity, it would make her too easy to find. Instead she attempted to get lost among the gathering mortals.

Euphrosyne was glad all these mortals were here to help solve this ghastly mystery. It really just went to show how much they truly cared for Mother Venus and all of her retinue. She wanted to show how much she appreciated it, and so she'd arranged for Mellons to serve some of her best wine, though they were to take care not to serve too much to any one Pae. Intoxicated Pae couldn't solve murders, after all!
She swirled through the party, keeping a cheerful face on (though smiling was in her nature to begin with), though something had been eating at her for the whole two seasons since this dreadful business occurred. She hadn't told anyone except Iordanes, who had been the first one she'd run into after it happened. She didn't want it to get misrepresented, and she certainly didn't want to bother Mother Venus with such details, grieved as she was. But it was an important detail, and perhaps one or more of these gathered mortals could make use of it.
Euphrosyne took a glass of wine from the table and leaned against a column, her mood somewhat darkened by her thoughts.
"Of course." Hjortur nodded once as they moved to enter the temple. So many more were already inside, looking each way and about, than he had expected. With any luck and with so many eyes, they could find something that had been otherwise missed.
Glancing to the side, almost instinctively, towards where the feast were usually laid, the naiad was surprised to see a table of fine wines and little mellons all dressed up and, given the goddess with wine in her hand, apparently serving. "How about a glass while we work?" he asked Kaarina, his eyes silently motioning to the the table. "One will not affect our judgement, and Venus' daughter makes the most delicious of drinks."
He hoped his partner would notice the goddess by the table and realize he meant to ask her a question or two while they were there.

He earned himself a raise eyebrow. The action risked a wrinkle, he should feel honored that the risk was taken on him! Oh and that sneer, she positively giggled at it. "You'll ruin that little face of yours with the sour expressions." Voice said concern, eyes betrayed her amusement. It would be rather hard to do more damage than he was born with but leave it to a mule to do all that they could.
"You've come to the wrong event, bobble, if you are looking for food. There are certainly less dangerous places." In every sense of the word, chaos ruined more than one of their Mistress' events in the past. The poor thing just wouldn't be able to get away from her now, he had uses.

For all the obvious hints - the physical jump, the swearing, the moving away - Luminita had little to no clue that she was making Selah uncomfortable. All she had wanted was confirmation that the arrow was suspicious, and she had received it. Grinning for a moment as her hand lowered away from near-face-range, it faded as she blinked and tilted her head. "I just said where it came from: over..." a (dramatic) point "...there."
Her voice faded and her eyes diverted away as a great, winged bird appeared over the horizon. What a glorious speech it made! It made her want to raise her hand in the air, screaming out a pre-victoriously victorious sort of screech in unison with all around her.
However, she refrained from doing so... for now...
Returning to Selah, she locked eyes for an unnaturally long length of time before nodding once. "Normally, Esmee tells me what she needs to do her science(!) and I do that, but she is not here today. She is busy..."
"I think."
"Maybe."
"Actually, I don't think I actually ever asked if she was or wasn't."
"Anyways, I will take her place as the scientist(!) who tells me what I need to do. So I will tell myself what I need to do, and I need you as a partner, because a scientist always needs a partner, even if they are not actually a scientist, but a detective. And today I am a detective. And since you are here, you are also a detective. So we are both detectives, not scientists. And--"
Her ramblings, now rather stream of conscious rather than coherent, were cut off by the approaching of others. First was another of the bird pae, her musings not lost to the angel (who did, in fact, hold the arrow closer to her face to make it easier to see). "Familiar wood? Well, I did find it here at the temple, and Adonis was killed by multiple arrows to the back... I was there with Esmee, you know..." she looked to Selah, her voice raising slightly. "Maybe this is one of them?!" As she turned her head to as Lillibeth, "What do you think this cord cou--..."
But Lillibeth was already gone.
Back to focusing on Selah.
"What do you think the broken cord could mean; a hint from the gods?..." (no pun intended)

Selah started several times to clarify that she'd meant to ask where it came from originally, but this woman appeared to enjoy the sound of her own voice. Rather a lot.
"I meant--" Nope. She was interrupted following Luminita's gaze to the feather-winged Pae with talons like a large bird.
"I m--" She was interrupted again because the other began talking once more. Who was Esmee? Great, so they were detectives. Together? Selah wasn't sure how she felt about that, but this person was so strange she couldn't in good conscience pawn her off on someone else. Besides, Selah trusted in her outdoor lifestyle to give her a strength advantage over this "scientist" if things should go sour or she should become violent.
She thought she'd get a word in when Luminita interrupted herself to talk to others who had approached. But nope--she began talking again almost as abruptly as she'd stopped midsentence.
Selah was so frustrated now she wanted to scream, but she reined it in. For now. The others left, leaving her to deal with Luminita alone. And then, miraculously, she asked a question and left some empty air for Selah to respond. She held up a hand to prevent the other from speaking until she was finished.
"First of all if we're going to be partners, you ought to know who I am. My name is Selah. And what I'd meant to ask was where do you think the arrow came from before it was deposited where you found it. Don't the gods' arrows disappear on impact?" At least, that was her understanding. "If we track down where the arrow came from, we might find the significance of the cord. Not to mention who fired it."
"Quite." Eszra smiled at her twin to his statement of her enjoyment of said occasion. Of course she'd enjoy it, she was here after all. She wasn't about to miss an excuse to investigate further into the death of a God. Deity corpses seemed much more intriguing after all.
However, at his suggestion of turning into a competition, the fae grinned madly. "Since when Dear Brother, did you worry about fair?" she tilted her head at him, eyeing him up and down as he chewed away on the sausage at the end of his staff. He always seemed to have a plentiful supply at hand to nibble on. "Or. Are you afraid that I might win?" she smirked smugly while looking sidelong at him. They always had a healthy appetite for sibling bets, though she liked to say she won more than him. Really, she didn't.
"But I digress." she sighed as she only half listened to what the purple songbird was saying. Stay in groups hmm? A killer was still on the lose and apparently she feared the worst for her gathering mortal companions. "They suggest sticking with someone, less we join the dearly departed." she laughed softly, turning her full attention towards her twin. It was time to get things started! "We are here for an investigation after all. Perhaps we should start by asking some of these deities, don't you think?" she mused, glancing around at the gaggle of goons that seemed to be flooding around the orange male she pointed out earlier, including a few of his...relatives? And the blue one... well he looked like fun to torment, but not now. Instead, Eszra scanned the crowed until her gaze landed on a yellow female with light brown hair and blue eyes who had a smile ever so plastered to her face. (Euphrosyne) How interesting! "What do you say we ask her first?" Eszra proposed, half hoping the other was just as morbidly curious as she was.

Ky had only heard bits and pieces about what had happened at the last Venus party two seasons ago. Since his first trip resulted in a rather....unsettling... night with another male and two sons (which he loved dearly really), he had made sure to avoid going to any other's. But the death of a God? He hadn't ever really thought about something like this happening before and the fact that they seemed to have no answers bothered him even still. They had resorted to leaving notes at Venus's shrine inviting all who were interested to come and put their sleuthing skills to the test.
He wasn't sure why he felt compelled to come, but here he was, watching an already gathered crowed of pae'il and deity alike milling about. Most with forlorn looks on their faces and others who looked to be having....fun. But at least he wasn't alone.
Turning to glance at his partner and new found friend, Lee. Though that wasn't her real name he was sure, she wasn't able to speak it to him and insisted he called her that. It was fare better than Blondey and a little more personal than just L so he went with it. "Well, here we are...." he said softly, reaching over to take her hand and squeeze it gently. A gesture more for him really, as he couldn't stop his heart pounding in his chest. She was probably far more relaxed than he was. "What... do you suppose we do first? It looks like most are just taking matters into their own hands.....and those close to Venus suggest we stick in pairs." he said in a tone of concern. He didn't want either her or himself to end up next to the departed God on some stone slab somewhere. Not...that....they'd even be worthy enough to be buried next to a God mind you.
Summer was surprised that the Harpies noticed her. She was embarrassed that the beautiful Harpies were speaking to her. "Umm I heard that Harpies have a close connection to Venus. I wondered if you knew anything what happened the night when Adonis died?" she asked with a blush. If she could team up with one of them she might be able to work with they might be able to gather more info than one alone.
"Lovely ladies would one of your want to work with me to help solve this murder. By the way my name is Summer what are your names?" She hopped that was too much to ask as she looked between the two harpies. She noticed that the others had started to go into the temple well the murder was said to happened inside the temple so that was probably a good place to start

"Aheh....but why even..." Pothos had begun to answer his twin when the Sister in question had approached them. "Oh...Hello Harmonia... I am...well..." he started to say again, rubbing his shoulder with one hand when Himeros questioned her about interesting things in a bush. And then he was pelted with ladies. Yeah...that was typical Himeros. Except that all the growing attention to his firey twin from not just mortal ladies but now Iordanes too.
Oh how he wanted to slowly slink away back into the shadows and just disappear. How he also wanted to just grab them all and shake them for not being able to see what it is he did. What he knew...who did it.... not even an explanation was needed for motive. The answer was so obvious and so typical it just....
More ladies. Sigh.
"Himeros...." he said softly, mostly to himself. He wanted to ask his twin how he could focus on such things at a time like this. How did he still have the drive!? Damn God of Lust! If only Pothos could cast his worries off so care free and delight in others the way his twin did. And now even Harmonia was quiet too, he glanced in her direction and managed an awkward almost painful looking smile... but a smile none the less. That was the best Pothos usually could muster. Perhaps this was his chance to just slowly slink away like he hoped to do.
Tentatively, Pothos took two steps to the left and glanced around nervously. So many mortals...they needed to know...
Kaarina's eyes swept around the room as they entered the temple. There seemed to be more people inside than there had been outside. Of course since the murder took place in the temple it wasn't to surprising.
What was surprising however was the table with wine. She hadn't heard anything about there being refreshments during the search.
"That sounds like a lovely idea" Hjortur was right, one glass would not hurt anything and perhaps they might over hear something from the others who where milling about the table.
Heading over to the table she picked up two glasses and offered one to her companion.
