((37/26 = 1 Attack))

Corrinne felt her heart jump as the Reaper Staff connected with the Witch Doctor’s neck. Watching gleefully as the lizard creature tumbled away from the impact. She wanted to leap with joy on the battlefield but she restrained herself. Two loud blasts sounded behind her and Corrinne knew that Thre made her follow up attack. Expecting it to make contact with the intended target Corrinne was surprised when the Witch Doctor easily evaded the projectiles. Perhaps Corrinne’s attack put the creature on its guard. To say that Corrinne’s ego blew up from the one successful hit she made was an understatement. She was positively thrilled! Intoxicated by the high of dealing damage to a creature she absolutely despised. The Reaper Crab reveled from the euphoria now flowing through Corrinne’s veins and it demanded more. ‘More, More, More!

Eagerly she watched her opponent waver as it dashed toward her in a fatigued manner. Sensing its resolve she loosened her muscles to move fluidly away from the first attack to her head. The expression on the creatures face was unmistakable, its vanity bruised, furious, spent, clinging to its mission. A low laugh escaped Corrinne’s lips as she evaded the second attack to her chest coolly. Blocking his staff with hers. For an instant she looked down at their weapons and marveled at the Reaper Staff. The thorns protruding from its surface, the hard green shell, the exuberant glow. It appeared to be as thrilled as she was on how the battle was progressing.

More than half of their opponents were dead and Kawaguchi now aided Ilya in his battle. She no longer heard the distressing sob from the small boy. Instead she could sense a new focus from that side of the battlefield.

Still worried for the young girl fighting beside her, she wished that Thre would just back down but she knew that wasn’t going to happen. She was a fighter, Corrinne couldn’t criticize her for this trait, and it was a good one to have in battle.

She was beginning to understand her own fighting style a little more. Hesitant to battle but once in – she was in! Remembering back to her two previous battles, both began the same way – tentatively testing her adversary’s strengths and weaknesses – then once she gained some confidence, she began to enjoy the fight thoroughly. It was a strange realization. Knowing that she usually abhorred violence. But she couldn’t feel that it was an unwelcomed acknowledgement.

All this seemed but an instant in Corrinne’s mind as she returned her attention to the Witch Doctor. Dipping her staff quickly in the direction of the Witch Doctor’s crotch in what would be an excruciating attack if it landed. She quickly leapt away and laughed giddily. She wanted to make some distance between her and the Witch Doctor after such a cocky attack.

Suddenly the image of Dal’Mori appeared in her mind. Corrinne knew Dal’Mori would probably never approve of this but at this point what choice did she have. He was so angry with her. She didn’t know if they would ever be able to understand the differences in the other. His long history of fighting and studying to be a warrior, she could never catch up to his knowledge on the subject in the time she was given. She would have to improvise and this seemed to be her way of doing it.

Turn 6

Though a bit shaky, Thre was on her feet, and ready to go once more. The attack had taken a lot out of her, which was made apparent in the sagging of her body, but there was a clear strength there as she held herself up despite this.

Corrinne's attack landed, hitting the Witch Doctor square in the neck. It was a surprising blow. Even the Witch Doctor was shocked by the fact that it got hit. That feeling was quickly replaced with fear and anger. Fear at the quickly diminishing odds of survival, and anger at the woman who hit her.

Unfortunately, her struggle to shift and aim gave the Witch Doctor the necessary time to dodge her attacks, the two condensed pieces of mass crashed into the ground behind the tiny creature, kicking up a large sum of debris. The sight of which caused Thre to grumble in an angry fashion. She needed to get over to Ilya!

Though, even as she thought this, Akio took off to help him. Every bit as effective as he was good looking, he cut a section of the beast right off it without any apparent effort! This reassured her enough to completely focus on her fight. Ilya would survive. He would. Or she would kick Akio in his baby-makers regardless of how hot he was.

Ignoring the pain coming from her transformed arm, she shot forward as fast as her damaged body could move, getting really close to the Witch Doctor. Seconds after Corrine shot her attack at the lower half of the little reptile, Thre shot off two rounds of her own. One at the things chest, the other right at its head.

She hoped the close distance would allow for her to finally end the monster.

Turn 3
Corrinne: 39 - 42 = 3 - 100 - 15 = 84% Chance
Thre: 83 - 42 = 41 - 100 - 15= 44% Chance

The Witch Doctor cursed, unable to do much as far as this battle went. It still didn’t manage to do any damage to any of the fowl humans it battled. And yet, it was so incredibly close to death it wasn’t fair. It wasn’t funny. With a frown, the creature went through all of its attacks, angry that it wasn’t hitting with any of them. The woman landing an attack really put an edge on the creature. Not a good one, either. It was beginning to feel less than worthless, feeling like it was the end of things as it knew.

The womans next attack got it, too. Smacking it one way and the other with that stupid staff of hers. It smacked the thing up, knocking some good sense out of it. The thing stumbled slightly, moving to the side to hold its head. Damn it… This really wasn’t looking good for them. As it staggered, it just barely noticed that the girl was coming at it. It managed to see the girl by sheer luck, making an attempt to roll out of the way before anything significant could actually happen. The girl shot at it, aiming for the creature’s chest. It would have been a simple end, a pop in the chest, a pop in the head. But it didn’t want that for itself. The first attack missed, thankfully. Either she didn’t aim well, or it had moved just fast enough to get out of the way. It would never know, eyes still dancing with lights and stars. God, what was happening… It shook, suddenly feeling the full weight of the cold and loss it was dealing with. It was going to lose, that much it knew.

So, when the thing looked up, seeing the little girls gun in its face, it didn’t flinch. It didn’t move, and it didn’t fear what was going to happen. It was the end, something that was bound to happen to any and all. Even it, even the Harbinger, even the Queen. The girl shot it in the head, its body falling to the ground with one final thud. Moments later, the creature’s body faded into code, green and yellow words and numbers flying into the air, forming into a small floating orb. It bobbed there, ready to be taken. Or, worse, ready to be absorbed.

Akio was now officially on a roll. He had gotten the Queen with his sword and lightning at least once, doing a minimal and yet important amount of damage. Akio was now, though, beginning to slow down. The fight was taking too long, taking too much out of him. The day was already a long one. He was in a battle before this, had quite the migraine, and had little to no sleep the night before. The only thing that was keeping him alive and awake was the five cigarettes he had before the mission and the large cup of joe. He was long overdue for a good and long nap. One that, perhaps, lasted through the rest of the night.

But right now, he had to finish this mission, then he could do what he really wanted to do. Right now, it was protect Ilya, make sure everyone survived, and finally make it home in one piece. To top things off though, the Queen was getting ridiculously creepy. She was … He didn’t know why it bothered him so much, but he did know it set his teeth on edge, raised the hair on the back of his neck, and got under his skin. Perhaps it was that she was sexually aroused by the battle. Very obviously so. Akio shuddered, refusing to think about what that meant for the AI. it really bothered him that things were going in that direction…

But, what he was pleased with, was that when he looked over to check on the girls the enemy they were battling were dead. He could see the creature get hit by Thre, knocking it back with one final headshot before it fell to the ground in its own pile of blood. It was a relieving sight to see, that was for sure. It meant he wouldn’t be in this battle for much longer. Finally, he could get the sleep he deserved. Turning back towards the little man as he fought, he gripped his sword and readied for his next attack. Akio smirked at what the Queen said, “Well, good luck seeing that sight.” He stated, sounding a lot more tired than he really wanted to. Damn... Maybe he really should stop for the day.

Still, Akio waited for Ilya’s yoyo to pass by, then went in on his next set of attacks. There was still so much to do but it would be done no matter how much he didn’t want to do it. Shooting forward, Akio drew his sword for what he hoped would be the last time, flashing into the creature with a bright flash of lightning. He wasn’t too sure about how much lighting he could really work with, but that was to be tested later. For now, Akio wanted to just take this creepy ******** out as soon as possible. Drawing his sword just before he went in for the attack, Akio made a quick swipe up with the static blade. It would slice up the creature's abdomen, drawing up towards her ribs. He wanted to draw its blood, kill it in less strikes than he had available to him.

The second attack was quick and fierce, slicing down across the creature's chest once again creating a perpendicular slice along the skin of the creature. My word the thing was vile. She needed to go down, and Akio was ready to make it happen. Now, with him, Ilya, and the other two able to rip into this one enemy things were going to be over in a jiffy. Thus, he came at it with two more successive strikes at the things head and neck. He hoped against all hope that this would be the end. That this was going to be the end of him.

Turn 6
Ilya: 100 - (69 - 70 =) 1 = 99 - 15 (Stamina) = 84% Defense chance.
Akio: 100 - (118 - 70 =) 48 = 52 - 15 (Stamina) = 37% Defense chance

Suddenly things looked very bleak and were quickly snowballing out of control.

The Witch Doctor died, which removed its ability from the playing field. Leaving her weaker, which was never a good sign. It also left her alone, which was even worse. Her gaze didn't linger on the fallen corpse of her comrade, at this stage in the game, she couldn't afford it. Instead, she kept tabs on her own fight.

Her composure was gone. She no longer felt confident to essentially masturbate all over the battlefield while fighting these people. They were turning out to be far stronger than she could have ever anticipated.

The kid managed to dodge her attacks again even! She knew which of his things was his core! He was new! It should have been simple to kill him and send him into the sweet embrace of death!

She brushed off his attack as if it were meaningless.

The tall one, that lit up like the fireworks at human celebrations, was coming at her now and she couldn't afford to ignore the man who destroyed the two strongest members of their group.

Unfortunately, it turned out that the man was skilled beyond reason. He moved so swiftly, so well, that every single one of his attacks landed. She took a painful slice to her ribs, causing blood to begin gushing out and her to scream in pure agony.

His hits hurt!

Another shot to her abdomen, slicing her almost down the middle. How she managed to survive the attack was beyond her. It was followed by another terrible screech of pain.

When he came in for the finisher she could do nothing about it, her body frozen in pain. Her head toppled away from her body, before falling into two pieces. Shortly thereafter, her body digitilized, and turned into code.

Ilya’s attack didn’t go through, but with the coming events that didn’t matter. He saw Akio speed by in an amazing display of electric swordsmanship, hacking away at the creature they had been battling. The man hacked away, shocking and slicing the creature until it screamed and finally died. Towards the end, the creature was frozen in pain, unable to do really anything about the man murdering it with little effort. Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Ilya hopped up and down in excitement, clapping his hands together in pure joy. ”Oh my goodness! We did it!” he squealed, now bouncing merrily in circles. Kawa came to save him! Thre was still alive! Corrinne was too! Unable to help it, he squealed again, wiggling in more excitement that he ever thought he could muster. The fight was over!

Though Kawa was still out of breath from his series of attacks, Ilya ran up to give him the biggest hug he could muster. The little boy hugged the man, throwing his arms over the older man’s shoulders in the embrace. Kawa hugged the child awkwardly, patting him lightly on the back. Next he ran over to Corrinne, hugging her with just as much enthusiasm as he did Kawa. Next, he went to hug his best friend. This hug was tighter, more warm and happy than the other two. Ilya couldn’t be more happy with the events that lead up to the end of the fight… He really couldn’t have been. Ilya, being the crybaby he was, almost started crying again. Choking up slightly, he pushed back the girl, a bright grin on his face reaching ear to ear. Boy, he couldn’t be happier with this outcome.
Congradulations on your first successful mission, my boy.

Ilya let out a giggle, wiggling as he looked around the place. It was an absolute mess. The cores still floated in the air, waiting for someone to claim them. Ilya didn’t want any of them, he had his angel, so he looked on. Looking over the blood and gore which littered the room, Ilya’s face finally dropped. The mission still wasn’t over. Rushing over to the man who was still alive, he checked to see if he was okay.
”Sir?” The little boy asked, tapping the man's cheek lightly, hoping to get him to at least respond to him. If he responded, even a little, then things would be okay. A low mumble came out of the man's lips, his head turning ever so slightly. Oh no! They had to get him out of there as soon as possible! Ilya looked up towards the adults of the group, gripping the man's sleeve. ”I’m going to take him back. You guys finish the mission.”

With ease, Ilya was somehow able to pick the man up in a fireman's carry and begin running with little issue at all. It wasn’t a short run, either, but the little boy knew he had to do it. The boy ran and ran, all the way until he hit the portal. He didn’t hesitate to jump in, and the moment he appeared back on base he took off again, running until his little feet felt like they couldn’t continue on. Then, like the little champ he was, continued moving, running as fast as he could towards the infirmary. He couldn’t allow this man to die, that was not an option this boy had.

That train of thought will get you killed one day, my boy. Gavriil stated, sounding particularly worried.

I don’t care. I can’t just let him die. Ilya could feel the AI shake his head in his mind, but the boy never stopped. Not until the man was safe in the hands of a nurse.

Once there, Ilya called for someone, anyone, to come and help. The response was almost immediate. Nurses seemed to come out of the seams to help, at least a dozen people coming into the room, swarming around the man for a moment. Then, without discussing what was going to happen, the group of people whisked him away. Ilya was left in the room, unable to really make words come out of his mouth. No one said anything to him, just took the man and left, not telling him what they were going to do. What it because he was a child? Was it because they were too busy? Ilya balled his fists, taking in a deep breath. He supposed that didn’t matter. The man was getting back safely, that was what mattered. With a deep breath, ilya finally turned around, making his way back to his team members. He wanted to be with them when they finished their mission. Or at least be at the portal to greet them when they came out.

It was only a shame the young boy never made it back to the portal room.

As she planted her foot to be able to aim the final shot, she felt an all too familiar thrill run down her spine, and start filling her blood. Her eyes took in the sight of a successful kill happening before her once again, by her own hand.

The first shot had missed, just barely. She couldn't tell if it was because her aim was off, or because the stupid lizard had moved fast enough to get out of the way. Either way, it missed. However, the distraction of the first shot allowed her to get right inside his guard.

This meant her second shot was a direct hit. A kill shot.

She felt accomplishment. There was a thrumming beat in her veins, coupled with rapid breathing. It was pure exhilaration. She looked up at the sky as snow continued to fall down from it. This was her calling. Battle was handcrafted for her. Or rather, she was handcrafted for it. All those years she wanted to disagree with those thrice damned scientists, and here she was, proving them absolutely correct.

She couldn't find it in herself to care, though, for an instant later her attention was ripped towards Ilya.

She got to witness the final enemy fall to the sword of her current crush, and for one brief moment, she felt bad for Alex, because nothing he could do could ever be that sexy.

Then again, Alex was cute. That's what he had going for him.

Though, watching Akio hug Ilya, it could be argued the man had cuteness too.

She took a step or two towards Ilya, only to sneer slightly at the fact that he went to Corrinne next. Though truth be told, she couldn't find it in her to be too mad at the woman. She had held her own through that whole fight and even survived the mission. Something Thre hadn't done her first time out. So she made sure to catch Corrinne's eye, while she was hugging Ilya, and offered her a short nod of respect.

She sincerely hoped the woman didn't look too far into it.

When Ilya came her way, she could no longer hold herself back and rushed forward. They met halfway, and she picked him up, a delighted laugh coming from her lips. They had survived! They fought and survived! "We did it! You were amazing!"

For one moment they basked in each other's presence, elated by their combined survival.

Then everything came to pieces when they realized that there was still work to be done. However, first thing was first, she wanted to get that new power. Turning inward as she walked towards the insane A.I.'s orb. Even now she could hear that terrible laughter. 'You ready for this Summer?'

'As I'll ever be.'

Despite knowing what her host's intentions were, Summer was nervous. This was something A.I.s could do if they bested another. It was often how the weak grew strong. However, she had never tried to do that, preferring to remain away from other A.I.s. What if her personality wasn't strong enough?

She let none of this bleed through to her host. The little girl was amazing but very correct. This core ability would better suit her, and it was stronger than her current form. Those two facts combined made it a very practical decision.

Thre reached the floating orb and seemed to just instinctively know what to do. She reached out and touched the orb, and began to draw it into her person, meanwhile trying to hold the things personality at bay.

This turned out to be a lot harder than she imagined. The monster was well and truly insane. There was no rhyme or reason to its thoughts. There was nothing for it to find funny, and yet it still laughed. It delighted in the fight for its existence, instead of fought with an expected fury. All of these facts meant the transfer of cores took a lot longer than one might expect.

In fact, it was very evident things were not as easy as you might expect, for while she stood there attempting to absorb this core but expel its personality, her body kept shifting. Her arms turned into the various weapons at her disposal. Her skin randomly grew armor, and then removed it.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the whole process was over, and the core was absorbed into her body. Thre probed her mind cautiously, hoping everything worked out for the best. 'Summer?'

'I am still here Thre. Just very, very tired.'

With that Summer grew quiet, but Thre did not mind. She still had her friend, and now that friend was stronger and would make her stronger.

She turned to take stock of the situation and barely managed to catch the sight of a retreating Ilya. Apparently, someone was grievously injured or something, and he felt a desperate need to save them. This left the rest of the survivors to herself, Akio and Corrinne.

She turned to the leader of the mission, Akio, and put aside the squirmy feeling that birthed in her stomach. People's lives were now on the line, and she couldn't afford to be distracted. Despite the fact that she could still see his muscles through that jacket he was wearing.

"What should we do now?"

For a moment, Akio stood there silently after the last hit landed on the Queen. Finally, the battle was over. At least the physical one was. Closing his eyes for a moment he took a deep breath. He forced down a lot of the emotions he felt at that moment, knowing that there were still quite a few things he needed to do before he could fully relax and calm down. It was then that the smallest of them all, Ilya, started squealing in delight, even going so far as clapping his hands. Akio let out a huff of a laugh, looking at the boy in all his excitement. The kid ran to each of the members of their little team and hugged each of them. The whole interaction was absolutely adorable, but reminded him once again that Ilya was still a child. A child that willingly decided to join a worldwide war, one that was much bigger than the historical World Wars. And yet… He was still sweet, putting all others before him. Two missions, one resulting in death, and he was still so innocent. It put a smile on his lips, even for the briefest of moments, before they had to set off back to work.

Ilya took off with the man that saved Akio’s life. Not that any of them knew that. He kept his past fairly well hidden, or at least he wanted to. Pulling on his sleeves a little, he looked down at Thre. She and Corrinne were the only ones left with him, though it soon dwindled down to just hi and Thre. “And now we do what we came for. We get the data and get the hell out of this place.” Pulling out his pack of cigarettes and looked inside, curious about just how many he had left. He sighed when he found a measly little five left in the pack. Enough to last him the rest of the day, but he would have to buy a new one soon. Still, he looked at the young girl and motioned to all the men around the area. “Figure out how many are alive and gather them up. I’ll take care of the data gathering. It shouldn't take more than ten minutes. If that.” Akio then turned to the terminal that stored all the data on it. ‘Humans are strange creatures.’ remarked the Trooper, the sound of his voice hinting at a slight c**k to his head. Akio made an affirmative noise in response, choosing to ignore the vast amount of already dead bodies. ‘You all care so much about each other, yet at the same time you hate them. I don’t understand this. Specially with you, Akio. You seek approval from everyone, yet push everyone away. I don’t understand.

Akio puffed a small amount of air from his nose, snorting at the idea. “You have my memories. Figure it out.

The trooper huffed, seemingly frustrated that Akio wouldn’t simply give him the answer. ‘To an AI with only programed emotion, that isn’t a simple task.

Yet you’re already feeling the emotion of frustration. Not a basic emotion. You can figure it out.

The Trooper fell silent, retreating back into Akio’s mind to do god knows what. He felt it strange, though, that the Trooper cared about emotion in such a way. For a simple program to want to know about how Akio felt, and why, was strange. Especially one that was designed to destroy.

Shoving the thought out of his mind, Akio activated his gloved once again and began opening up the terminal to pull the information. Unable to help it, he looked through a lot of the information Baiter wanted so badly that they sent team after team to locate. Even if their precious Baiters died in the process. It was certainly… interesting stuff. Cocking his head, he read the programs thoroughly. There were some hundred year old schematics for cryo chambers, information from before the initial attacks. All of the information was incredibly old, going back a good five hundred years, maybe more. “Seinaru tawagoto…” he muttered, reading over everything. No wonder they wanted the information, it was some of the information they lost during the Ark attack. “It is possible for you to download all of this?

I thought you had an eidetic memory, Sparky?’ The Trooper snarked, coming back to the surface in order to see the information clearly. ‘Sure. I can download this. It will take a few moments.

Akio nodded, continuing to read the information as the Trooper downloaded the information for him to access later. It had handy, at least for him, to have a little computer in his brain. It made his mission of information gathering and research more feasible. And it did only take a few moments for the Trooper to successfully download all of the information. From there, Akio plugged the small drive into the terminal to download all the files. With all that done, he pulled out the drive and moved onto the final part of the mission: getting the hell out of the cold. Looking around, he quickly found the girl he was with, walking over to her and quickly finding the rest of the dead bodies rather quickly, going in and helping her pick out the live ones as fast as possible. He only wished there were more he could do. Though, most of them were in fact dead already, leaving only a few living that they had to take back.

There were three people still alive, all of them in stable enough condition to be able to bring them back alive. Akio sighed in relief, glad that the mission was a full success. No losses on their team, and minimal losses since they had shown up. All things considered, things were going very well, actually. “Seems like everything is going over really well. Keep watch of these guys, I need a smoke break. I’ll be over there.” Once again he left the young girl to take care of the people who were injured. It would only take upwards of five minutes, anyway, so he didn’t mind taking that moment to finally calm down his nerves He only needed one for the time being, then he could focus on the rest of the work before he could indulge himself in a few more before buying another pack.

Walking away, he focused on the sound of the snow crunching beneath his feet. His boots sank down a good foot and a half, making a soft crunching noise as he trudged through, making sure he was far enough away from the young girl that she didn’t breath in the toxins. Sure, he didn’t mind doing it to himself, but another younger person wasn’t a good idea. Once he was away, Akio pulled out his box once again and pulled out one of the last of his cigarettes. ‘It’s strange that you do that, too. Why do humans do that to themselves?

Akio shrugged, putting the cigarette between his lips and lighting it with a lighter he pulled from his pocket. “Coping mechanism, usually. Something they’re missing in their life, so they fill it with some addiction. Coffee and cigarettes are the most common.” Akio sucked in a large amount of smoke, letting the toxins fill his lungs to calm him down. He knew it was the breathing that calmed him down for the most part, but that didn’t stop the addiction. For him, it filled the hole in his life created by a substantial loss he wasn’t ready to take. Not that he even took the loss well, even given what it was. Still, everyone had a vice. This just happened to he his.

Ilya felt strange on his way back to the portals. It was… tingly? Yes, he felt tingly and queasy as he walked, suddenly unsure of where he was going. Where was he? What was going on? The boy stumbled, falling over to one side. He attempted to catch himself, putting a hand off to the side to find a wall. Missing completely the first time, Ilya fell into the wall, barely catching himself before his face caught the corner. What in the hell was happening? All he could hear was faint muffled cries, people trying to speak to him, and the dull sense of people trying to make sure he was okay. He felt, he wasn’t quite sure at this point, but he thought he felt someone pick him up. The touch felt like he was feeling it through a thick piece of leather, dull and barely there.

He tried to force words out of his mouth, but he was unsure if the sound even came out. He could feel himself tremble, but he could feel nothing else. SOon, he could hear nothing, and his vision blurred to be able to see nothing but shapes. What…. What was happening? He tried to contact Gavriil, but even then he could feel nothing. Hear nothing. The small boy was frightened down to his toes, the only thing he really knew was that he was being carried. But soon, he didn’t even know that. He only knew blackness and cold.

          ------

Taking in a deep breath, the transformation was complete. Finally. The mimic ran its fingers through its new hair. Soft, fluffy, thick, and strangely close to being white. Reaching its hands in front of it, it took stock on the body it was copying. It was healthy, fit, and very young. Clearly only about a decade old. It looked down at the boy on the floor, taking in the unconscious form. No one would suspect a child of sabotage. It was absolutely the perfect cover. With a grin the AI looked up at its companions, flicking its head to the side.
“Take him back. There’s no need for him now.” The others nodded, lifting the body with ease off to keep the body safe so they could preserve the memory link. Now, where was the boy heading the time he was picked up? The AI tilted its head, sifting through memories. Aww, it was out with friends on a mission. How adorable. And he seemed to have saved a life! Was a sweet child. The thing laughed, walking out of the nurse room they made the switch in. Waving at one of the nurses, the mimic smiled and assured him he was okay to leave. A nurse followed soon after the mimic, stating exactly what the boy had just done. “It was just a strange fainting spell, it seems. He’s cleared to go back out. Just wait a day before you go on another mission, okay? Adults can’t even handle three in a day.” The woman smiled kindly at the mimic.

She was one too. There were a lot around the base, they just hadn’t made their move yet.
“Thanks! I’m just going to go check on my friends! They just finished their mission, too!” He said, his voice incredibly chipper. And with that, he was finally off to go back to the Polar Gates. He needed to, for the time being, keep up the appearance that he was a child with friends he deeply cared about. So, he was going to finish off the day exactly how Ilya would have. Check on his friends, then go home and eat a nice meal with his mother, then finally hang out with Thre for a good long while.

So, the little boy walked to the portal room, zooming right back into the Gates where he knew the others still were. He then ran all the way back to where the mimic remembered the terminal to be, where he knew the others would remain. He saw Thre first, waving at her the moment he got back to her. Akio was gone, though, making him c**k his head to the side. “Where’s Kawa?” the mimic asked, his voice curious. It seemed they were still normal people, so he kept up the act of being an innocent child. Looking down he made note of the group of people who were still barely holding onto life from the AI attacks. The mimic felt glee at seeing all the pain, but the little boy would have felt intense sorrow. The mimic frowned, wearing a sad expression on his face.
“We need to get these people back… They need help…”
