Magic had always been a big thing in Arinas's life or at least in his family. Alrai studied it in school. Araceae was a dryad which she had obviously passed on to his siblings that shared her blood. Uncle Morginn was a lunar fae. He himself had litch and Geist traits. So he had been looking forward to being old enough to learn about magic for a while.
He listened to the lecture and wondered which direction his own magic would take, he wondered if one of the species that made up his biology would influence it. Archimedes listened to the teacher speaking about the different types of magic, he very much hoped he didn't get mind speak that would have been really uncomfortable in his book. When he opened his mind to the magic, he didn't really notice what he was doing till his sketch book for her carvings floated out of his bookbag and then flopped back down on his desk. He was tired after the accidental display of magic. Unable to do much with it as of yet, maybe someday he would have better control of magic and able to use it longer, that wasn't today though.

Ares took a deep breath, ready for this class to be done. He was on the last few classes he needed to graduate. Magic seemed like a good choice since they didn't have his other interests at the academy. The Aether spellbook, huh? That one had some neat things in it. He'd flipped through some of the spell books, just out of curiosity, but he couldn't remember any of the particular spells in this book.
Well, might as well try and see if something happened. He reached for the magic, concentrating, waiting to see if something changed. Focusing on trying to reach a spell, he was only slightly irritated when a pair of people began talking behind him. Their voices were pretty harsh; they were nitpicking one nightmare in particular. Annoyed that they wouldn't focus on the lesson, Ares turned around to tell them off, only to discover what he had been hearing had been the two cockatriels a nightmare a couple seats behind him owned. He was a bit shocked, realizing he could understand them, and when he tried talking to them, that they understood him. The effect didn't last long, but he was mighty pleased with the success of his spell.

Elliah listened attentively as the teacher went through the basics of Aether magic. She wasn't particularly interested in that branch of magic, but you had to start somewhere didn't you. As soon as they were released to practice on their own she took a deep breath and tried to center herself. They hadn't been given any particular spell to try, so she'd just hope for the best. Focusing, Elliah strained to gather enough energy to try and maybe listen in to one of the other students' thoughts in class. Countless minutes later, she sighed and went to pull out a magazine instead. That had been a bust. She'd have to try again later or something.
To her surprise though, after she'd grabbed her magazine out of her bag, it paused in mid-air. Wide-eyed, she looked at it for a moment before focusing on trying to move it around. Gleefully, it shifted forward, and then back. Ecstatic, she focused to move it around some more, pushing it around, pulling it closer, even throwing it a bit to see if she could. Astonishingly she could do all of it. After about fifteen minutes of playing around with it, not to mention distracting her classmates, Elliah called it quits. It had been astounding enough that she'd been able to do it in the first place and now that she was done she was feeling a bit drained. It didn't matter much to her, she had lunch next, but man was she excited to tell her bestie about this!

Avocado was greatly amused he gathered magical energy Ather magic was really neat, Avo got silent speak he attempted to use his mind and talk to other students looking for someone who might be trying to do mind speak as well. This wasn't flying but magic was still really cool, Avocado wanted to learn as much as he could about magic in hopes that some day he would be able to learn to use magic to fly, or at least have magic to do things with. There were so many uses for magic. So he would never know what spell he might need.

Salacia was certainly not expecting to gain the attention of the nine when she went into the magic class she imagined the ones she spoke to as nagas, since it was the pictures she had been showed as a freshling by her people. Salacia had no reason to doubt that the nine were clearly nagas, which were the best race of course. There was no reason to doubt that so Salacia spoke to the gods feeling their attention on her, it was a strange feeling she certain had not counted on it made her feel calmer than she had in a long time. Perhaps she should practice Libation more often.

Eirian was thrilled by the tounges spell she could hear familiars talking to each other it was so great, she just wished she could figure out how to talk to them. She could hear them but figuring out how to speak in familiar was another kettle of fish altogether. She spent the rest of the class listening to what the familiars were talking about putting to memory the things they said they wanted like food and toys so she could try giving those things to her own familairs. She needed to remember this spell for when she opened her own familiar care place.

Natsumi smiled she ended up casting silent speech and she heard the excited thoughts of the hallowed demon listening to the thoughts of the familiars. It was a really funny situation kinda like a thought within a thought. She was greatly amused by the spell and wanted to study more magic at a later time. She listened to the demon for a while then she listened to some other students, she kinda felt like she was ease dropping though and she felt kinda guilty about that. She wondered if spies used silent speech on a normal basis. Natsumi didn't want to be a shy she scrunched up her nose.

Aedus certainly hadn't been expecting to connect with the nine when he cast his spell for magic class but that was what he ended up doing, perhaps the feelings inside him had balanced enough that he was now about to hear the nine instead of just being an angry bitter elf. He had been so bitter about having to live in the Below now Aedus had no other place he wanted to be. Because of the school, Aedus had learned so much about himself and the world of both the above and below, he wouldn't trade that for the world.

Ophelia closed her eyes and breathed in, trying to concentrate. It took her a few minutes, but she thought she could hear something. Cracking an eye open, she looked around the room but no one was actually speaking.
Wait, was she.... A slight shock of adrenaline shot through her as her thoughts but she closed her eyes and calmed down again. The whispers started to become clearer until she was sure she was hearing the thoughts of her classmates! Nyrili was pretty good at meditation, so slipping into a relaxed state in order to reach the Aether wasn't hard for her. The hard part was focusing long enough to get there. She let out a long sigh, shutting out her silly crush and settled her thoughts. Winds...no, that was whispering. She was hearing thoughts! Her mind automatically sought out Ophelia's and blushed as she realized the Fey was listening in to their classmates as well. Oh, gross....that guy was a perv. What really made her blush was when she felt Ophelia's mind touch her own. She sensed a smile coming from the Fey and sent one of her own back.

Effie heaved a sigh. She wasn't really that into magic, but it seemed like a good class to take. So she followed directions and found herself feeling more energized. She felt like she could bake all day long and not even get tired! Oh, Nine, if magic could do this for her maybe she should try it every morning!
Unfortunately for this beginner, the effects didn't last long and soon the hybrid was feeling extra hungry and tired. Maybe she could eat another bite of that cheesecake she had made in baking class. One of the pieces was meant for her after all...

Kitalpha felt she was going to be pretty good at this class. She was still riding high on her recent successful transformation. She used the same kind of breathing technique to get into the right head space. Apparently she did better than she expected. It was almost as if she could sense the gods themselves. She wondered.... It felt like if she were to make an offering or a sacrifice that she would receive a blessing while she was in this state. That was certainly something to think about. She hadn't been prepared for this outcome, and so hadn't had a proper offering to give the gods. Maybe next time...

Oran loved magic, at least the study of it. When she was younger and right after the incident she remembered Oberon had a bunch of magic books he was reading for college electives. She would go curl up next to him while he read them to her. So she had been waiting and waiting until she was old enough to actually start practicing magic. Today was the first step. Okay they had actually been practicing things before but that was beside the point. Taking a deep breath she worked on her aether magic. Wondering what form it would take. Only for it to pick the worst one. It was kind of disappointing. Oran was a natural battery already so maybe she shouldn't be too surprised her aether magic had gravitated towards energy enhancement. She felt even more stuffed and uncomfortable than she normally did. The room was on overload and she was developing the worst headache she had ever had. It was just too much and she quickly shut the spell down. While this session was a touch disappointing, she would work harder to find magic that didn't clash with her. Ah such was life.

Mai had decided not to start in the specialized magic classes. She wanted to get a handle more on the general aspects of it before attemping anything more specialized. Maybe even see if there was something she was good at that she could pursue further. So it was with excitement that she started the class off. As she began she noticed magic was taking time but Mai knew that you always had to be patient in certain things. Maybe it was just because she wasn't really good at it yet. However when she realized what her magic was doing she made a slight tsk sound. She didn't want a rapport with any of the nine. Yes she believed them but.... mmm yeah she was pissed at them, considering what they had allowed her special people to go through. Sure there was free will and everything like that but life... had been sucky growing up and remembering the attacks on haunted hallows and the heart ache and pain that had happened. Well, definitely wasn't going to be continuing the magic, or asking them any favors. She would just find another form her magic connected with. If anything else she could She shook her head disgruntled and went to go try something else.
