Jay shook his head at Amira's words. "It's alright," he said. "It doesn't really bother me anymore, although I still miss her." He grinned at her when she pouted playfully. "At least ye can look back now and laugh, even if it wasn't funny at the time," he said. He glanced at Eriko again when the girl spoke, pondering her words for a moment before answering. "I think it's because I'm half and half," he said. "I think some other hybrids aren't able to shift forms because they have more of one side than the other. Can ye shift? And ye're not a freak of nature, Eriko. If anyone's a freak of nature, it's me when I'm in my other form."

Jay smiled at Amira's words. "How did ye manage to get her back?" he asked, curious. He looked at Eriko when she spoke, nodding at her words. "Aye, I guess ye're probably right in that regard," he said, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "But still, that's the main reason I don't shift much anymore, because it usually freaks people out." He continued pulling weeds, working his way steadily around the garden before he was done.

Jay grinned at Amira's words, laughing at Eriko's response. He could tell the sisters got along well, and he enjoyed seeing them interact with one another. "Ye two are really close, aren't ye?" he asked. He nodded at Eriko's first statement, snorting at the second. "As my mama once told me, 'normal' is nothing more than a setting on the washing machine," he said, smiling as he recalled his reaction to that statement. He worked his way around the garden, pulling weeds as he went, then started working his way toward the middle. Once he was done with this, he moved to the grass and sat down, wiping his forehead free of sweat.

Jay nodded at Amira's words, grinning when Eriko laughed at what he said. He watched as Eriko hugged her sister, smiling at the thought of the bond they shared as twins. He sometimes wished he had siblings that he could bond with, but he was happy the way things were. He was glad that he and Kit had brought Amira and Eriko to the house. Laying down on his back, he folded his hands behind his head and looked up at the sky. There were a lot of fluffy white clouds today, and Jay realized he hadn't done this since he was a pup. He turned his head and looked at the twins. "I haven't done this since I was a pup," he said. "When Mama was alive, we'd go out to a field and lay on our backs, looking up at the sky and pointing out the different shapes we could see in the clouds." He smiled fondly as he remembered all the things his adopted mother had done for him.

Jay smiled at Amira's words. His ears twitched when she said she and Eriko hadn't been able to relax since they were very young. He wondered how old they were, but didn't ask, feeling it would be rude to do so. Instead, he turned his attention back to the clouds, and almost immediately, he noticed a familiar shape in one of them. He pointed it out to the girls. "Look at that cloud there," he said. "What d'ye see?"

Jay continued looking at the clouds, noticing several that were in the shape of familiar objects. When Amira asked what he'd seen in the one he'd pointed out, he looked over at her, smiling when he saw that Eriko had fallen asleep. "It looked like a wolf," he said, keeping his voice quiet so that he wouldn't wake Eriko. "There's a few others that have familiar shapes. There's one that looks like a cat and one that looks like an angel." He turned his attention back to the clouds, thinking about the last time he and his adopted mother had done this.

Jay smiled when Amira pointed out another cloud, nodding in agreement. "Ye're right, it does," he said. He looked over at the twins again, smiling at the sight of Eriko still sleeping. "She's really worn out, isn't she?" he asked. He didn't mind her sleeping, especially since he figured they hadn't gotten much sleep in the shop.
