[2. Navigate through an obstacle field of things such as hay bales, wooden posts, and fences. Match roll!]
So the challenge for this one was to move fast but to avoid tripping over any of the obstacles and faceplanting.
<> Malcarreth grinned as C'tis started off on the second challenge.
<> While C'tis knew this to be true he wondered whether Malcarreth really would sabotage him for a laugh but, as he charged across the field to the mental backdrop of a stream of instructions, it seemed not. He vaulted over bales, dodged fenceposts, and wove around other things that Malcarreth didn't bother to identify beyond 'in the way'. He could feel that Malcarreth wanted him to slow down but why would he do that? <> he sent, stumbling slightly over a hummock in the grass as he spoke but recovering himself quickly to continue on.
<> Malcarreth retorted as C'tis barely avoided a fencepost. <> he grumbled as C'tis finished the course to the sound of cheers. <>
<> C'tis shrugged and grinned, <>
<>

[3. Cross a 'moat' by navigating across platforms. The moat is as deep as an adult's waist and filled with water. Direction Roll!]
Of course he would. C'tis rolled his eyes, they were closed behind his blindfold of course but he knew that Malcarreth had felt him do it and that was the point of the gesture. <> He didn't want to start this damn thing by stepping straight into the water.

[3. Cross a 'moat' by navigating across platforms. The moat is as deep as an adult's waist and filled with water. Match Roll!] Malcarreth snorted and shook his head. < > Hopefully C’tis would not be so occupied with grumbling that he failed to listen properly.
C'tis did as he was told and this time he deigned to take the course a little bit slower, mainly because he really didn't fancy falling in the water and potentially hitting his head on a platform and so needing rescuing. He'd never live that down. Even caution however was no guarantee of success and safety; C'tis took a step across to what Malcarreth said was the penultimate platform and suddenly found himself reeling and flailing as his foot slipped on wet wood. <> He managed to fall forwards rather than backwards and so ended up on the platform on his hands and knees. <> he repeated as he got back to his feet and got his bearings again from Malcarreth. <> Ugh! Whatever, he was wasting time!
C'tis jumped across to the last platform and then back onto dry land, feeling in a slightly poorer temper now than he had at the start of the course. <>
<>
C'tis growled and shook his head. <> Bloody dragons.

[4. Colour a picture with chalks on a large chalk board. Direction Roll.]
"As a journeyman Harper we're expecting C'tis to perform well on this one!" Came the voice of the master of ceremonies from across the field. "Let's see some artistic ability Warden!"
C'tis grumbled to himself and fumbled for the chalks Malcarreth assured him were there. Yes, okay, so he was holding.... Blue? Yes, blue, and the picture had a lake in it so that was a good start. <> he said to Malcarreth. If he couldn't do this then he was going to be laughed at so much.
<> Malcarreth agreed. <>

[4. Colour a picture with chalks on a large chalk board. Match Roll.]
<> Malcarreth said after a couple of minutes of frantic scribbling had passed. It was hardly a masterpiece. In fact it looked like a hyperactive child had scrawled it but a quick inspection by the adjudicator deemed the piece good enough, thus allowing C'tis to move on. <> Malcarreth pointed out, sensing that his rider was getting pretty close to throwing up his hands and quitting in disgust.
<> C'tis grumbled, <>

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon. Match roll!]
Once he was in front of the board with the dragon on it, or so he was told, and holding the tail in his hand C'tis started to spin around on the spot. By turn five he was already feeling dizzy, he really didn't like this not being able to see thing. Ugh! He really hoped that their performance in the other events made up for this shaffing farce. On the tenth turn C'tis pinned the tail on the board where he thought Malcarreth had directed him but, wobbling as he was, apparently he had missed because he heard the crowd laugh and felt Malcarreth sigh. <>

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon. Match roll #2!]
<> C'tis growled as he spun in the opposite direction.
This time when he jabbed the tail at the board - rather viciously it had to be said and perhaps imagining it was a certain person's face.... Well it would have been nice to say that there was a cheer but instead there was more laughter, he'd missed again. <> He only got one more try and then the attempt was forfeit!

[5. Spin 10 times then pin the tail on the dragon. Match roll #3!]
<> Malcarreth instructed firmly. <>
C'tis sent incoherent feelings of anger and frustration to Malcarreth as he spun, trying to keep back the feelings of humiliation. This was a simple task, he ought to be able to do it!
Alright though. Fine. Stop. Breathe. Listen, reach, pin and….
A cheer went up from the crowd and C'tis relaxed a little. <> It was the target throw next, right?
<>

[6. Throw a ball at a target Direction roll!] Feeling a little better about things now C'tis did as he was told and, once it was in his hands, he tossed the ball up into the air and caught it a couple of times to test the weight. < >
Quarter turn to your right... a bit less actually, a little back to the left? Malcarreth peered over at his rider and then nodded to himself. <>

<> Malcarreth replied, <>
<> C'tis nodded to himself and tossed the ball. A moment later he was rewarded with a satisfying smack as it struck the target.
<> Malcarreth called, adding a bugle to his words because it was good to recover from the terrible performance on the last task. <>
<> C'tis replied. So, last task now! If he could do a good finish then everyone might forget how much he'd screwed up in the tail-pin task.

[7. Finally, navigate a hay bale maze. The maze is winding and geometric in patterning and is approximately 6 feet tall. Match roll!]
Malcarreth sighed slightly, so much for getting though to him! Oh well, he would just have to do his best to feed the instructions quickly enough. <>
C'tis took off at speed with about as much caution as a sun-crazed wher. He bashed into the walls, nearly took a wrong turn several times, and generally frustrated Malcarreth no end but he made it out of the other side in good enough time all the same.
<> Malcarreth groused.
<> C'tis snorted, pulling off his blindfold and giving the crowd a wave. <> He was going to go an enter a wrestling contest now, that would make him feel better about the rather lacklustre performance on some of the obstacles.
Malcarreth sighed and shook his head. <I am going to have a lie down in the sun.>> Humans!
