"Be safe," Hvergelmir said softly, watching him go. She stood and retrieved her shawl, wrapping it around herself against the wind -- but she didn't follow after where Gehenna had gone. Instead she went to the building's edge and stood there a while, looking out over the city. She looked out over the landscape and wondered -- not for the first time -- how in the world any of them were ever going to survive.
