"Now Gregor is trying to keep up, all is very confusing," the stallion said swimming just a little in front of her to confirm each point. "You want Gregor to meet mother, then escape mother, but mother will not let Gregor escape if she like Gregor, but You only consider Gregor if he escape - so you do not want mother to like Gregor? Would be most difficult, everyone like Gregor," he said nodding sagely.

"Oh, no, no, no. I want you to get Mum to like you, then escape," Akis informed him. "It's what one would call an impossible task. I'm sure you're up to the challenge, though."

"Purpose?" To drag him into the family, of course. No one should be alone. But she couldn't admit to that. Instead, she smiled flirtatiously at him and batted her eyes. "Isn't it obvious?"

"Maybe it would be better for you to just see for yourself... We're almost there," Akis informed him, brightly. "Mom should be near the river. That's where they live most of the time."

"Gregor is suddenly remembering old stories of pretty kelpi ladies who drag poor souls down to their deaths...." the stallion muttered as he followed the water maiden. "Is good thing Gregor can hold breath for long time..."

Akis shot him a flirty little smile. "Where's the fun in life without a little risk?" She teased. She gave a happy little sigh when the passed an underwater boulder that looked vaguely like a half submerged skeleton. At least it always had to her. Far more importantly, it signaled the beginning of her family's territory. She started for the surface. Zahavah didn't spend too much time in the river, preferring to be close at hoof when her mate might need her.

The stallion laughed as he followed her, "Gregor has always been told is bad manners to argue with beautiful lady so he simply must agree. But..." he added with a slow forming smile of his own, "hopes it is not too risky trusting pretty lady."

"You should never trust a pretty lady," Akis chuckled. "They're always up to something. Sometimes it's fun, though." Her smile widened when she spotted the recognizable orange spot that was her mother. "Mom!"
Zahavah looked up from what she was doing at the sound of her daughter's voice and beamed the younger mare. "Akis! Welcome home... who's this?" she asked when she noticed Gregor. Though, now that she was looking at him, she had to wonder how she had missed him.

"This is Gregor," the stallion responded with a grin and a little flourish bow. "Akis expressed sincere wish for me to meet you, her mother. She tells me you are mighty protector of these lands and taught her all she knows as a warrior. I have not known her long, but I can plainly see she holds you in the greatest of respect," he added gently at the end. It was true, he had little (alright, fine - he had No experience) in meeting mothers. He hated to admit the areas where he did not excel but that was the situation. But the daughter's admiration for the mother was most plain, as was the resemblance. Though he had to admit at first glance the mother had more...grit and the daughter more mischievous. Yes, the daughter was most certainly mischievous. And this situation was looking more and more like a trap every second. Good thing Gregor was quick with his fins, so to speak.

"Gregor..." Zahavah repeated, shooting a side glance to her daughter, who just grinned at her. The tiny mare knew something else was up with this. Akis wouldn't have just brought a stallion home to meet her her mother without an ulterior motive. Not that either of her girls had brought any potential partners home yet, but still.
"He's all alone," Akis murmured softly into her mother's ear, by way of explanation. Louder and with a grin at Gregor, she said, "Gregor is from a long line of mighty warriors himself... Of course I thought you when he told me that."
Ah, now things made sense. Zahavah returned her attention to the eye searingly bright male in front of her. "Well, in that case, welcome Gregor," the small mare said with a bright... and perhaps not so reassuring... smile.

"Gregor appreciates kindness of goldfish's hospitality and he offers his services as warrior if they should ever be needed for reasonable discount, of course," he added with a grin. Mercenaries who sell services for free were often out of money and well paying work before they could blink. "Although in quite little watering hole like this, Gregor can not imagine you have too many problems, no?" the stallion took a moment to look around and appreciate the soft, gentle greens and grays and blues that made up the tapestry of this particular aqua estuary. It was very nice, calming to be sure - thought he could see what an adventurous soul like Akis scampered off from it as she did. It would dull a warrior's teeth to linger here too long, he was certain of that.

At the offer of protection, Zahavah tilted her head calculatingly. He seemed like he could hold his own, and she WAS looking for guardians to help guard her borders... She snorted when he commented that their little territory was quiet. "I would have agreed with you a few months ago," she said dryly. "But then my children were attacked by an walker."
"Wait, what?" Akis stared at her mother. "Are they munchkins okay?" She looked around, trying to spot her younger brother and sister, or even her father.
"They're fine," Zahavah reassured Akis, quickly. "Not a scratch on them."

Gregor narrowed his eyes hearing the goldfish's report and Akis's subsequent concern. "Walkers in this area is surprising, not to mention disturbing. But most times they are landlocked, no? So running to water makes for reasonable back up plan, correct?" He glanced around again seeing the area with a new light, of course they may be somethings to be done to strengthen boundaries and such, perhaps even on land...." He trailed off as he began to consider his options.
