"That's an alpaca. Shiloh has a matching pair of boxers with them. Here - " She held them out for him. "You can borrow them. Please tell me if Otto sees it, something about the idea of Otto seeing you in my panties is killing me with amusement." As much as she loved Otto, and was glad for his relationship with Chance, there would always be a part of her that was desperate to troll the poor boy above all things. It brought her such great joy to think of his freak out. She tilted her head in confusion. "I do have a great a**. It's the a** of a fourteen year old girl." Maebe said this as if it was obvious - in her mind, adolescent bodies were superior. This was why her clothing always had the tinge of childhood to it - it was an opinion that had been a long time in the making, over years of men's reactions to her.

Chance took them with a little laugh of amusement, tucking them away into his pocket. "I'll make sure to wear them on an occassion when I know he'll see them," he said with a grin, and leaned over to peck a kiss to Maebe's cheek. "Thanks."
(They were really cute, after all.)
His eyebrows rose a little, Chance's eyes sweeping over her face. He wasn't sure he could say the same thing - Maebe was, after all, a woman, not a girl, and a beautiful, mature one at that. But it didn't quite seem his place to say anything, and he wasn't about to overstep bounds that were there for a reason.
"You have a great everything," said Chance instead, which was entirely true, and he never complimented when he didn't mean it. "Seriously."

"I knew I liked you." She mused, humming with delight while her head tilted up affectionately when she felt the kiss on her cheek. She turned to slowly walk back over to her bed, and climbed on top of it. "That is true.." She admitted, her voice sounding irresponsibly humble. "It's a blessing, and a curse." Laying out onto the bed, she stretched until her back arched, trying to pull the kinks of sitting around for too long out of her body. "I can't wait until my eyesight's fully back. This has been boring as hell. It makes me doubly glad that you visited."

"I like that I'm likeable," said Chance mildly, following Maebe back to her bed. He sat in the chair again, leaning back and folding his hands together over his stomach, fingers laced together. "It makes being around people that much easier, especially when it's someone like you."
He gave a little laugh.
"I' glad that I visited as well. What's the first thing you're going to do when it's all back?"

"God. Probably just find the most beautiful things and really look at them. You know? Like, I don't think I ever looked at anything and just appreciated how pretty they were. Like sunsets and rainbows and - flowers or some s**t." She did not sound entirely convinced that she would care about those things, but she planned to try, at the very least. "And faces. Beautiful, beautiful faces. Every single one. I'm not going to make the same mistake I always have. This time, I'm going to memorize every single face I see, and lock it all away for safekeeping. Just in case."

He liked the sound of that; memorizing faces so that, even if actual sight was lost, they'd still be there, imprints in a memory. Chance regarded Maebe with a certain amount of curiosity, his expression softening a little, thumbs brushing together.
"Sounds like a good plan," he said lightly, and smiled. "I might stop by again, if you're up for it, and borrow you as the subject of my next sketch. You wouldn't have to sit still or anything, I'm not that good."
He ran a hand through his hair.
"I shouldn't stay too long, otherwise I'll be imposing," said Chance, tilting his head to look down at Maebe. "But do you need anything else before I go?"

"I'm really good at staying still, though." She admitted, posing like one of his french girls as if to prove it. "It means less work for me. And I love pictures of myself.. you can come draw me anytime. Maybe practice anatomy." Her eyebrows waggled in terrible exaggeration. But he was leaving, and she flopped back onto her stomach. "Not really. You brought me blood for the blood god. And your charming companionship. I think I'm going to be just fine for a little while." She wouldn't even mind the loneliness, for at least a few minutes. That was how nice it felt to have been visited. A brief, but appreciated reprieve.

He winked at her. "I'll keep that in mind for the next time I come. I like drawing people better than drawing scenery, and you make for a beautiful subject, after all."
Chance stood up, turning so that he could push the chair back to the desk where it belonged. Then he padded back over to the bed and bent over, one of his hands reaching to press lightly against Maebe's temple, a fluttering of his fingers over her face. Ducking his head, he brushed a brief kiss to her cheek once more.
"Call me if you need anything," he said as he straightened. "Or if you just want a visitor again, I'll come anytime."

She turned her head right after he'd kissed her, so that she could do the same on his cheek. "Consider it done. You're more likely to get a text or a DM than call though." She bent her legs and wrapped her arms around them, curling into herself tightly. She waited until the very last second, when Chance was at the door, and she knew he wouldn't have any choice but to leave. She couldn't bring herself to say something so raw and exposed if he came back in to talk about it. Then, in a quiet, almost childish voice, she spoke. "Chance?" Her voice was barely more than a whisper, but it held the tinge of embarrassment in it. "Thanks. For not taking him away from me." He might have had an idea of how important they were to each other, but right now, Maebe knew how dark she'd have let her world be without Otto's constant presence in it.

He'd reached the door, a hand on the knob when he heard his name; Chance stopped, turning around slightly so that he could look back at Maebe, her voice quiet enough that he had to almost strain to hear it. She was curled in on herself, tucked into a ball.
Chance was quiet for a moment, and then a faint smile flickered across his face.
"You're welcome," he said quietly. "Thank you for letting me be a part of his life, and yours as well."
He lifted his hand, giving a little wave.
"Rest well, pretty lady," said Chance, and slipped out.
