"Preparations will be completed at the end of the next moon cycle. Betrayal is not to be taken lightly, I must make sure those close to me are safe." The horseman tilted his head. "I am of War, but there is no war if there are none remaining to fight. A true, victorious battle requires equal parts power from both sides. This is why I chose to help. I wish to see your strength so I can crush it and feel the triumph of true war. This one-sided battle will be your Humans' undoing otherwise."

It was not clear at all what he meant, Gale frowning in confusion; but he filed away all of the information anyway, tucked it neatly into his mind to remember later. He gave a little nod, not necessarily of understanding, but of agreement.
A shiver went through him.
"I will let him know," said Gale quietly. "...thank you," he added, just to be polite.

"A Hunter camp is about two hours of a walk this way," the horseman pointed towards the creek, "take your lover and leave no footprints behind. You have the smell of death on you, it follows you like a shadow. Perhaps you will not see the war before you before you are consumed."

He visibly cringed at lover. Gale struggled to his feet, sliding an arm around Mark's waist and hoisting him upwards with a great deal of effort, wheezing under the weight.
His eyes flickered towards the creek, then back to the Horseman.
"I will see the war you're speaking of," said Gale. "But I appreciate your warning nonetheless."

There Hunter base camp was abandoned, but it seemed like someone recently had passed by. There was also an excessively convenient portal waiting for Gale.
It would lead right into Gale's personal crammed "office", the only change being a note written on his desk that said something like:
As you have been recruited into this mission, you will take responsibility into submitting the proper documentation.
It was difficult to discern if the writer meant Gale or Mark, but considering one of them was out of commission, it was once again, potentially Gale to the rescue.

Lugging Mark back was ridiculously inconvenient, and Gale had to stop several times in order to actually make it back at all. Which was why, upon actually returning, he dumped the man unceremoniously onto the floor of the tiny office, Gale reaching for the note with an apprehensive look on his face.
"Bloody Caelius," he muttered, and sighed.
Then he kicked Mark, just for good measure.

Mark immediately shot up, yelling something about robot dragons, looking wide-eyed around the room before focusing back on Gale. He then sighed, relaxed entirely, and lay back down on the ground, and his growing pool of blood from that particularly nasty wound on his head.
"See? Nailed it." And then he passed out again.
