He grinned boyishly, but never took his eyes off where they were stepping. He'd look twice as hard so that she wouldn't have to worry. "Yes, a rabbit. His name is Arik. It's a combination of mine and a friends name who was with me when I found him." He felt himself warm beneath his fur in a blush. Was that a little too embarrassing to share so soon? Hopefully she didn't find him a sap.

"Awwww. I liked Sir Booplesnoot. Eric sounds all manly and cool." She laughed, keeping her eyes on his down turned head. He wouldn't let her fall. He was a bright spot for her to follow too.
"How did you get two names to combine to make Eric?" The orange faun thought it was super sweet he'd named the pet after himself and a friend.

"I couldn't even think of Sir Booplesnoot to name him that." He spoke with a laugh, still blushing. "And uh, Ah-ree-k. Her name was -is- Lira. So we used her Rah and 'e' and just stuck my K to the end." It was a happy memory, but he couldn't help but feel a little sad. He hadn't seen Lira in months. She just...vanished.
OOC: Obviously Lira was owned by Naf, soooooooo that was a thing.

"Oops! Arik is a nice name though. Even if it's not as fluffy sounding as Sir Booplesnoot." SHe had to laugh at the silliness of the name. If she remembered, she'd always call Arik by her name. "I'm sorry Kai... Are you alright?" She worried, hearing the sorrow in the recollection. She'd have reached out to hug him if she wasn't terrified of falling off into the dark.

"Thanks, I'm pretty bad at names." He smiled softly before she spoke again. Shoot! He didn't cover it up as well as he hoped. "Oh, no no...It's fine. Well...to be honest, kind of. Lira stopped answering her door a few months ago. I don't know why. Stopped seeing her around the Tree. It's like she vanished." A branch hovered over their path, making it so they'd have go to under or over. Examining it for a moment, he surmised under would be best. He crouched and started creeping forward. "Would you like to hold my hand going under, or just meet you on the other side?"

The orange lady tried not to shake her head. Who would shut out Kai like that? Or anyone for that matter? It was kinda strange. "Maybe we should investigate? It's gotta be really strange for someone to just fall off the face of the island."
Fi squeaked, looking up at the branch they were ducking under. "Hold my hand please!" Her voice was a little higher pitched than she wanted, but it was all she could do to not scream. High pitched was better. At least it was manageable. "Thank you Kai..." Phiona breathed, stretching her hand out to meet his.

His ears perked up at the suggestion. "You would help with that?" She did say 'we'. Actually finding Lira, just to know that she was safe, would lift a boulder off his shoulders.
Before going any further, he extended his hand to her while giving her a warm smile. "No need to fear. I have a good footing, and nothings going to happen to you."

"Well yeah. You're worried about your friend. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't help settle your fears and worries?" Not nearly as good a girlfriend as he would be a boyfriend. Besides, it wasn't like he was checking up on a faun he still had feelings for.
Fi twisted her fingers through his, edging her hoof towards him. "You're a sweet guy Kai"

OOC: <.< >.> <.< when they left off, he had no feelings for her, but she had feelings for him! DRAMA LLAMA!
BIC: She remembered that. It filled his chest with warmth, enough to banish the sadness he felt earlier. "Thanks. It means a lot to me." He gave her hand a little squeeze as their fingers entwined, before slowly inching forward so they'd both move under the branch. "Just trying to be the faun you deserve. Maybe later I'll bring you to meet Arik." He didn't introduce his bunny to just anyone. But Fi wasn't just any faun.

Fi blushed a little, returning his finger squeeze. She smiled for him, following his footsteps. He wouldn't lead her somewhere she couldn't step. Her eyes scrunched closed, as tight as possible. "I don't think I deserve someone as kind as you Kaiden." Squeaked out of her before she could stop it.
"Meeting Arik would be fun! Who's Arik?" The only thing going through her mind was the thought of getting away from high places in the dark. That and what she'd said a moment ago about not deserving him. She didn't, he was taking better care of her than she deserved. At least, way better than she thought she deserved.

He smiled warmly at his name, his full name. Hearing it off her lips after a good span of time without him saying it...Maybe she was getting better?
At least getting better than her. He stifled a laugh to reply, "oh just a rabbit I adopted. Maybe I'll get a second for company. Name it Sir Booplesnoot." With the tree out of the way, he straightened slowly so she could tell. "Alright, you can stand now. I think the rest of our path should be fairly clear." From what he could see in the dark anyway.

"Sir Booplesnoot shall be an epic bunny." She decreed, straightening up at his prompting. "I hope so. It's really scary to be up this high in the dark." Fi barely suppressed a shudder at the idea of it. They really did pick a good night to go star gazing, but it was seeming less and less like a good idea the further they went on.

She really didn't remember that whole conversation. But she did remember his name. It was a warming thought. "It can't be too much farther." He still kept a hand on hers though, ready to catch if she even slipped a little. Kaiden squinted to try and see where the branch was leading to. It eventually had to go out, right? "Yeah...yeah I think I see it pass by a break in leaves. We might be able to see the stars there."

"Kai... What if we get stuck?" She asked, looking down at their feet. She'd have been looking up at him if she'd the courage. Fi resolved to look up once they got to where they could see the stars.
"It can't be too much farther. It looks like we might be able to see again.."

"Well...if we get stuck, I'll figure out a way to get unstuck. I've been in far stickier positions than this." Like being trapped in a sealed hallway with thousands of meat eating hungry ants coming after him. This was a walk in the park in comparison. "So we'll stick it out for a little longer, and it will all pay off." The more he squinted and the further they walked, the more sure he was that it was a break in the leaves. Thank the spirits.
