A swath of signatures arrived, both plentiful and near at once. Someone called. Someone within that confine called, which meant that Xenotime failed to eliminate her. Beyond that, their target found time to make a call. Apparently the bird they hunted had brains enough to realize when she was outnumbered.
This did not bode well for them - especially with the arrival of some powerful signatures.
This necessitates a larger force when taking any kind of hostage. Backwash from the New Year's operation? I think so. Umber spared no more time to think. He dropped from his location on the ticket booth, and started a beeline sprint for the door. Standing outside assured destruction, especially since Cinnabar chose not to hold the front. It was just as well - what forces did she possess to secure it?
Umber was not an emotional man. He could not, however, deny the bluster of adrenaline coming from a high stakes dash toward the entrance for cover. His heart surged, his senses hypervigilant to any indication of attack toward him.
And then came the bloom of royals.
I hope the speed differential between a Lieutenant and Captain is not what determines my life or death here, he thought bitterly while he pushed himself for every ounce of speed he had.
xxx
While Ochre let Moonstone and Xenotime pursue the girl, he started a walking ascent up the ride in hopes of putting greater distance between himself and anything that intended to come knocking at their door. Sure, he could attack a girl who's already under siege, that was no object, but fighting an actual force of enemies where battle might have him in a one-on-one situation? That sounded unwise. If Umber and the rest wanted to loiter about the door and fight everything that shows up, he had no qualms about it.
An animatronic shot out of a cave, gun raised, and a laser light shot from the tip. Ochre startled, but kept his footing. s**t. Who decided these operations were a good idea. I could be sitting at home right now, eating doritos and tuning my violin, but some jackass decided I had to be here and stand around waiting while some gathering of jackasses comes to kick us to kingdom come. Yeah, stellar plan, sir. Where's the part where you get killed for it.
Maybe if I'm nice about it, I can surrender and they won't actually kill me. Or kill me quickly. I dunno, these people have some hardcore principles.
The crackle of the intercom startled him a second time, and Ochre groaned with the message. Someone wanted a corrupt up near the hostage? There had to be another corrupt around, though; he couldn't imagine wanting some basic senshi dawdling around and pretending that their magic is useful. Ochre figured his magic was a mixed bag at best - and it demanded a lot of downtime before an actual-maybe-hopefully attack fired.
Still, he hadn't seen any other corrupts around, and someone's message about an incoming force had him scrambling up the mountain regardless. He might as well pretend to be a good little soldier and see what she needed.
Around the bend, down some drops, and a one more turn had him both rather winded and present. While the scene offered didn't bother him, he wasn't interested in relating to the girl's pain, so he didn't bother trying to watch. Screaming as she was meant a great beacon for everyone to come to the party. Great, so I'm exactly where everyone wants to be. This sounds like a pile of s**t. "Uh, reporting for duty, sir." Eyes darted toward the target, watching the youma go to work.
That's pretty rough. Yeah, I think hanging out up here is second only to her. ******** class="quote">

Since her visions of the future, Cybele had had a few peaceful if emotional conversations about the Dark Mirror Court and had come out of the whole experience with a bit less respect for them and almost no desire to join them. The whispered, half finished plea for help still made her freeze for only a second in horror before taking off at a sprint across the city. Chariklo had been her princess in the future, had 'saved' her and apparently managed to talk some sense into Megrez. Her being in trouble was not something that Cybele was going to accept.
The pile of auras, containing quite a lot of Dark Mirrors rather than the usual scattered few, was easy enough to find, but it ended up taking her awhile to arrive at the scene of the battle. She ducked into the ride area, fists clenched. Apparently, she was still willing to fight for the Dark Mirror Court.
Quote:
Quickly tossing Cybele in here! She's open for interaction.
Amytis struggled. There was a second Royal aura - Order, which if her experience showed, meant that he was probably here to help. Hopefully. Oh God she did not want to be caught in the middle of a Leto/Order Royal showdown.
"You're doomed, there are two Royals, you're -" She thought she might be getting somewhere, puffing herself up a little but, but all of that was ruined the second the youma's claws cut into her feet. She screamed. She could only remember pain like that once in her life, when she'd first gone through the Black Mirror and been corrupted. Except this was more direct, more physical, and she was definitely not going to be going anywhere.
She lost the battle against crying again, and when she started this time, it was full on wailing sobs, along with a lot of wiggling and flailing and kicking.
Not that it would help, but maybe she would nail the General or the Corrupt who had shown up to help. That would be something.
Quote:
Amytis screaming in pain is likely audible throughout the ride!

Megrez nodded at Mintaka's words. "See if you can hold out till they get here, maybe throw up a cover for them if you can. Look for a Squire of Mars and a senshi wearing gold and blue with an ankh brooch. That's them. Meanwhile, I'll go in."
When the massive paper flurry flew up, Megrez took the long way around to avoid getting caught in it (or running right into the arms of the Negaversers within the cloud). She managed to make it deeper into the ride, and there she spotted a familiar face. "Cybele! Come on with!" Time was of the essence, though, so she didn't really check to see if the mint-haired senshi came along.
Soon she saw the mess that was Chariklo and the youma. "Chariklo!" she called out, cupping her hand to catch one of her big eggs. Priority one was getting that big, nasty youma out of the way. She could see to Chariklo when there weren't any threats around. "Ostrich Egg Toss!" The big, heavy egg plopped into her hands, and she hurled it at the youma as hard as she could.

Attacking your youma!

Glitnir and Sadachbia made it to the amusement park at roughly the same time. "She called you too?" Sadachbia asked. "What happened to your arm?"
"I can explain later," Glitnir said with a heavy exhale. "Let's do this quickly."
"You don't need to tell me that," Sadachbia said. "Let's go."
The Squire and the basic senshi charged into the park until they hit roughly Mintaka's point. "Hey, isn't that the senshi we tried to help in the rescue mission? At least, um, she looks like her." Sadachbia asked, coming closer to Mintaka.
"She wasn't a Dark Mirror, remember?" Glitnir said. "And she also doesn't look like she's in a position to point us toward Megrez, so let's keep looking."
So due to my job being utter twits and taking away my day off today, the actual rescue be officially over tomorrow evening. After that, you're more than welcome to continue fighting if you like? Sorry if this is babble-y and weirdly phrased. Late work night was late. I'll do an RP post tonight (hopefully) when I get home provided they don't force us to stay late again. In the meantime, go rescue those girls! XD;;;

"Not for long you don't." With the Captain drawing most of Chariklo's attention (well, what wasn't focused on the captive), Wasgo got a good hold on the DMC and savaged her as it felt it should. The senshi's fists were ineffectual against it's solid, wood-like hide and it managed to shake her like a doll before sending her flying and looking toward it's mistress for approval.
Moonstone didn't praise the creature despite it being deserving, she was too busy trying to decide whether or not to chase after Chariklo some more and end the senshi's existence - it was likely she would bleed to death soon, even without her attentions - or deal with one of the new threats. She had no worries about their captive's "safety", the voice she'd heard requesting a corrupted senshi had been Schorl's - there were few hands more secure than the General's. She would handle it.
The red-headed newcomer came charging forward, making Moonstone's choice all the easier. She was calling to the battered blond and - did that goddamned senshi just magic a giant EGG into existence!? The ******** was wrong with senshi and their stupid goddamned magic!?!? - then used said magical egg as a projectile against her precious Wasgo. "Interfering b***h." Moonstone hissed at Megrez and shouted a warning command in her native tongue to the youma, so it managed to turn it's head side-wise and take the blow on it's shoulder.
Which meant hearing it yelp and then snarl and try twisting it's head - and gaping maw! - to focus on Megrez, even while the sticky innards of the massive egg were holding it somewhat in place and gooping all over the youma's carved hide.
Moonstone wasn't pleased. At all. Any satisfaction she'd felt before eked away with the egg-b***h's attack. No, she wasn't pleased at all, but she was going to go after Megrez with her bat. And that would be most pleasing.

For those curious
Wasgo aka monsterdog looks like this: form & coloring And he's big but stupid, so you can treat him like a matador might a bull. Or you know, Wile E Coyote vs. Roadrunner.
Prey slipped free from her grasp, General Xenotime had been ready to tear after her, going through the captain that had jumped in to assist if she'd had to to get back to the blonde Dark Mirror. She'd started in that direction, full lips drawing back in a rumbling snarl, when something else managed to steal her attention away. The general froze, head snapping up and around as the royal aura flickered onto the scene, followed not long after by another. One had the same flavor of chaos as the DMC she'd been chasing. The other was order.
The girl grinned, wide and feral, before teleporting away.
It was not the wisest course of action, what she was about to do, but the general had an itch that needed to be scratched. Her original target was being entertained elsewhere, others paired off throughout the ride. Xenotime needed a challenge.
Facing off against not one, but two royals was a foolhardy endevour. She arrived just in time for the princes's threatening question to reach her, and she grinned as she slid through the water towards him, already soaked from her tumble over the falls. Princess Leta was spared a quick flick of a glance, but she suspected the other woman was intending to run off in search of her trapped little birdies.
So it was the prince she addressed, answering that promising question. "That would be me," she purred, finally summoning the armored arm guards and spiked knuckles that served as her weapon. "If you think you're capable of it."

It had ended up being very much a case of 'follow the aura', Athene picking up on other auras that seemed to be drawn to the unusually large amount of chaotic auras that seemed to be clustered about in one place.
In addition to the large aura of a Dark Mirror Royal, he thought he could sense a Dark Mirror eternal...
But there were Order auras too - the large aura of a Senshi Royal was as unmissable as that its Dark Mirror counterpart and Athene thought that he'd picked up on a Squire's aura.
There was also an eternal aura, pure and distinct - Ida - it seemed that his team mate had managed to arrive to wherever the source of the chaotic auras were coming from before him.
The 'where' turned out to be the theme park that he had mentioned to Ida - the one that he had recalled due to the recent adverts...
It brought back unpleasant memories as his mind drew parallels with the fun fair 'Fun House' where the Negaverse had been keeping those that they had kidnapped at the start of the year. Unlike the very not fun house however, there was no senshi turned youma guarding the theme park building site as Athene scooped up his feline companion and let him climb onto his shoulder before clambering onto the wall and dropping down on the other side.
Ida's aura seemed to be coming from somewhere deeper in, towards the cluster of Negaverse auras and so Athene followed after, past unfinished rides in various stages of construction - unfinished that was apart from the looming mountain of some sort and given that it appeared to be the only part of the park that was lit up Athene was willing to bet that that was where he would find the auras.
It seemed that his furry shoulder companion thought so too - or perhaps it was more apt to call it previous shoulder partner - given that he caught sight of a blur of grey before the little tabby mauvian bobtail sprang off in the direction of the 'mountain' thing.
Not again! It was for the second time that evening that Athene found himself running after Liryn with another called out "Wait up!"
Honestly there were times that Athene still found himself wondering about Liryn's insistence that he was his senshi given that personality-wise Liryn was much more akin to Tsui, but with 10 times the recklessness.
Liryn had no idea of why there was so many Nega-chaotic auras out and about, but he did know that it couldn't be anything good.
His initial plan had been to go on ahead whilst Athene did his phone thing and check it out, but Athene hadn't seemed particularly happy with that idea when he had caught up to him - even after he'd pointed out that he knew that Athene would catch up to him.
Plan B had been simple - hurry - and he'd tried to do so, pushing himself at as fast a trot as his paws would take him in the direction from where the auras appeared to be coming from...
And they weren't just Negaverse auras. There had been another Dark Mirror aura, although this one had been an eternal aura and there had been Order auras too - a squire, a super senshi, a couple of senshi. There was another Royal too, the aura blazing strong but with an inferno's warmth instead of the chaotic strength that was the Dark Mirror Royal's aura... And there was the distinct aura of an eternal, making him think of Ida.
Athene had given him a shoulder ride over the wall, but Liryn hadn't been inclined to sit still and be a carry traveller - not with everything going on - or perhaps it was more accurate to call it whatever was going on given that he and Athene had yet to uncover why there were so many auras about.
They all seemed to be coming from the big mountain thing though and so Liryn had sprung from Athene's shoulder and headed in that direction knowing that he would be better on the ground.
Specifically he headed towards where the Ida-like aura and the Dark Mirror aura both appeared to be coming from...
And then he found himself being scooped up as Athene once again caught up with him, heard the dark-haired eternal tell him something about the mountain being some sort of ride thing and that there was water.
Liryn didn't care - well at least right at this moment - after all his instincts were telling him that they needed into that mountain even if it meant getting a soaking, although for now that seemed off the cards as Athene let him get back on his shoulder and moved forward with a slightly exasperated "Stay put."

Quoting as I'm assuming Cybele is in this direction too
It didn't take very long for Cybele to get overwhelmed. There were so many people fighting in a small, dimly lit space. It was also an amusement park ride, and those had made her distinctly uncomfortable since the time she'd witnessed her first bloodbath and been stuck on an out of control roller coaster at that carnival. At least this one was enclosed and they weren't in danger of falling to their deaths. She carefully walked a bit further in, and then Megrez was there, calling her along with her aura glowing like a beacon.
"I'm coming," she answered, and did, running after her friend and her companion, a Dark Mirror eternal she didn't know. They were faster than her, though, and stayed a few paces in front of her, but she followed, and then they were... somewhere, with a wounded senshi, maybe Chariklo, and a nasty looking youma, and a Negaverser, who Megrez was already fighting by the time she caught up. That was to be expected, though. Megrez wasn't one to hesitate, and this was not the time for Cybele to hesitate, either.
"Hunter's Deadly Grace!" she called, then fired the faintly shimmering bow that formed straight upward without missing a beat. Two of the arrows fell onto her and Megrez, as she'd expected. The third snaked backwards towards the two Order auras behind her that she'd noticed, but not really focused on. She didn't look back now, though. She looked forwards, towards her enemies, as everything slipped into sharper focus.
Sailor Scout Attack: Hunter's Grace A phantom bow forms in Cybele's hands. She shoots the bow at a ally, or straight up in which case it will target herself. When the arrow reaches the target, it splits and they are covered in its strange light. They are suddenly filled with concentration, their senses are sharpened slightly and their speed increases slightly. This state lasts for 30 seconds. It is useful for tracking and makes dodging attacks easier. While physical and mental strength is not increased, a fast attack at high concentration tends to do more damage than a normal one. She can also use the bow to threaten people, though if she does not shoot it after 30 seconds, it fades, using a use of the attack. She can use this attack twice per battle. If she is not targeting herself, she has to actually aim the bow. A knowledgeable enemy could knock it off course quite easily or even intercept it, gaining the benefits.
Super Sailor Scout Attack: Hunter's Deadly Grace Cybele summons a bigger bow with three arrows. The speed boost they provide is slightly more noticeable than Hunter's Grace. She shoots the bow straight up, and the arrows automatically target her and up to two nearby Order aligned beings (including cats). However, if there don't happen to be enough Order aligned beings around, the remaining arrows will randomly fall, and can be easily or even accidentally intercepted by anyone else around, giving them the benefits. The arrows can target Order aligned beings within five feet of where they are fired from, but arrows without targets tend to fall closer to that spot. The effect lasts for 30 seconds. She can use the bow to threaten people, under the same conditions as before. She can use this attack twice per battle.

Quartz did not need to be told twice to run away. Running away was probably his favorite order he'd ever been given in his entire remembered life (admittedly brief, but still). He turned and ran, booted feet splashing through water.
Along the way, he latched onto the hand of Lieutenant Bolton, Zircon's hooded apprentice. He had little use for Zircon -- but this lieutenant was a potential human shield and, more than that, a free agent: as a lieutenant, his only safety against higher ranked opponents was in numbers. So was hers.
And if things went the way he intended them to, the two of them would avoid the skirmish altogether.
"Listen," he said to the other lieutenant as he ran, most of his remaining attention on trying to track nearby auras. "People like that, you and I aren't s**t to them. We aren't any help here. We're going deeper in, and we're going to do something that isn't stupid."
He raced ahead with her, into where the strobe lights and animatronics cast strange, obscuring shadows on everything that made it hard to read surroundings. There he stopped, turning to her. "Okay, here's the thing. There's no valor in rushing into a battle like that and getting killed. Your captain's in the Intelligence branch, right? That's what you and I are going to do. Either the Negaverse wins this battle, or they don't -- but you and I probably aren't turning that tide. What we're going to do is get up in these rafters and watch, and try to stay out of sight. Make note of what people are wearing, what their weapons are, what magic they use. Remember everything you can -- it all goes in the database later. And if you see someone go down, or someone gets past our lines, get on your comm crystal and relay that to everyone else. We watch, we report -- we don't do anything stupid. Agreed?"
The first response to her call over the crystals was a male voice confirming back up, which was something of a relief. If someone was coming, then that was one more person to watch over the lieutenants. She’d brought them out here, they were her responsibility.
Poised at the entrance, Cinnabar’s face twisted into a warning snarl as the order and dark mirror signatures converged on them. Her eyes flicked to Umber as he turned and ran back towards her, her muscles bunching in preparation of the coming fight. Hurry up… Hurry up! She thought at him, urging him faster. A gravely sound began to roll from her throat, an in human growl of readiness… but even his increased speed was not enough to out pace the senshi that came swooping in, her dark dress proclaiming her allegiance to the dark mirror.
The half-youma threw up her arms as she hunched her shoulders, letting the magic wash over her…. in the form of origami figures with nasty edges. Cin snarled as they cut at her exposed skin, but she suffered it, keeping her face covered until the storm of paper began to abate. She wasn’t moved, but it was enough of a distraction to allow some of the approaching senshi to slip past.
The captain shook her arms out when the magic finally ended and the grin she gave the senshi girl was feral.
“My turn, b***h.” She growled as she summoned her energy and a black hole opened beside her, something small and slippery sliding out of the Rift at her call. It shrieked like a tea kettle as a clawed hand darted out to snag it and Cinnabar made quick work of burying her teeth into it like a dog into a side of meat. The youma dissolved into an oily cloud and slid down her throat with ease. The effect was immediate… strength, energy… power roared through her and Cinnabar shook herself out, her eyes staring and wild. She heard boots pounding behind her as Quartz did the sensible thing and beat a retreat with Bolton in tow. Good… Now all she had to worry about was Umber.
Cinnabar launched herself forward at the senshi in black who had attacked her, swinging with her claws for vulnerable places.

The screaming rattled down Bolton's spine as she splashed after the other Lieutenant. It was like nothing she could ever remember hearing, but just hearing it made her breath catch in her throat... or maybe that was the running. Bolton was strong, yes, strong enough to dust a youma on her own moments after awakening, but she wasn't fit. Zircon said that would come, if Bolton was dedicated, and Bolton was dedicated.
Still, it took time, and she was winded by the time they reached... somewhere, deep in the ride. She took deep breaths, attention focused almost entirely on the auras around her. One of them was familiar... too familiar. If only the screaming would stop, she thought. If wishes were fishes, we would all cast nets.
"Castor is here," she said, as if she hadn't heard a word Quartz had said. She had, though, and she turned carefully in a circle. Castor would kill all of them. He would raze the city to the ground... he'd let her die. Her rebirth didn't redeem him for that. "A ladder. Over here." Bolton sloshed her way over to the maintenance ladder she'd spotted, stopping beside it. "You'll go first." It wasn't a question.

Chariklo was expecting the youma to have another go at her. Expected the Captain to come in swinging. What she hadn't expected was the very large egg that appeared and smashed itself all over the dog-like monster. Blinking rapidly, she tried to focus on the direction the egg had come from and was almost certain that she was dreaming.
"G-ginger?" she slurred a little in exhaustion, convinced that her dreams were somehow converging on reality. But it was the ginger senshi that she'd taken to task in that future. And she was helping. As she did her best to shake off exhaustion and the loopiness born of blood loss, she could feel other auras. Order auras and Dark Mirror. Help was here!
Moving as quickly as she could, she began to drag herself towards where Amytis had been. She'd be useless in a fight now, but if she could just find her...
And as if on cue, a terrible pain-filled scream tore at the air. Jumping and hissing in pain, Chariklo quickened her steps. If the people swarming the Geyser were gonna get Amytis out of here, she hoped they'd hurry up a little bit! Surely they had to have heard that scream! To give a little added motivation, she threw her own head back and gave voice to the worry and fear and hate she'd been bottling up with a scream of her own.
And then, she kept moving.

OOC Notes • Hey guys, this is wrapping up tonight and into early tomorrow morning. • Chariklo is moving towards where she last saw Amytis and is bleeding rather badly. • Amytis is hobbled and won't be able to run. O noez! • Hooray suffering!

Mintaka was actually surprised her plan worked.
She hadn't thought of what happened after engaging Cinnabar.
And with Megrez's compananions closing in, her thoughts were their safety!
"Sadachabia! Glitner!" She called out, defending as best as she could against Cinnabar, "Megrez is inside! Please help her!"
TO Cinnabar, she took a hit, gripping her side.
"youma." She breathed out in pain, Raising her fist for the first time like Chariklo had show her. "I don't want to hurt you..."
When Sadachbia saw the half-youma Captain claw at Mintaka, her first instinct was to step up and give the feral woman a good sock. Glitnir was able to grab her in time before she made it to the Captain. "Don't bother with her! We have to find Megrez!" Still holding onto Sadachbia's arm, Glitnir stepped closer to Mintaka. "We're going in ahead. Thanks for telling us about Megrez." With that, he released Sadachbia's arm and took off to deeper in the ride.
Sadachbia took off and followed, but not before calling out a "Be careful!" to Mintaka. She didn't want the life she had tried to save to be wasted.
Meanwhile, Megrez only barely turned around in time to avoid getting clubbed by Moonstone, bringing her arm up to block the hit and letting a cry of pain upon impact. Sure, it'd just be a really nasty bruise, but pain was pain. A phantom arrow landed on Megrez, and she felt a peculiar sharpening to her senses. Right, that was Cybele's power. Grunting, she shoved away from the Captain to summon a smaller egg, though she didn't quite get to it before she heard Sadachbia call her name.
"Megrez!"
Sadachbia and Glitnir arrived on the scene, and Megrez didn't hesitate to give orders. "Guys, handle the captain and Dogmeat over there! I'm going to follow Chariklo!" If there had been time, she would have added a "to make sure she doesn't keel over from blood loss" to the order. With that, she took off to pursue the Dark Mirror, calling out a "Coming with you!" so that Chariklo knew she was getting a surprise escort to Amytis.
Glitnir had opened his mouth to raise an objection, but the egg senshi had already taken off. Gritting his teeth and growling, Glitnir pressed down on one side of his scale to activate his magic, which would hopefully stymie the Captain a bit. "Go after the youma," he said to Sadachbia.
Quote:
Magic: When weight is applied to one side of the scale (most likely Glitnir pushing on it with his finger), all enemies within 8 feet feel their major sins come to the forefront of their minds. If the target doesn't consider themselves to have sinned, they just gain a strong feeling in their minds that they have done something wrong and be unable to identify what it is (they might as well have left the oven on before they left the house). The air seems to grow "heavy" to them, and a feeling of pressure slows them down. The time pool for this magic is 35 seconds.
Sadachbia nodded in agreement. The captain could bruise and bludgeon, but that youma could definitely tear both of them to bits. Of course, both types of injuries were bad (nothing like blunt-force trauma to lose a few brain cells with), but it seemed to her that being shredded by sharp teeth would be harder to explain. Raising her hands, she called out, "Sadachbian Building Blocks!" and called forth two bricks. When they poofed into existence in her hands, she threw them both at the youma, hoping they could make a dent.
Quote:
Sailor Scout Attack: Sadachbian Building Blocks!
Raising her hands up like she's carrying something, Sadachbia calls out the attack name and summons two standard-sized bricks that drop into her hands. These bricks can be thrown at the enemy, though they're a bit lighter than normal bricks and so they won't really break anything if they hit someone (though it'll probably still hurt). The bricks crumble to dust upon contact with a target or the ground. Sadachbia cannot summon more bricks until she has used her current two or their time limit has expired (if not used, they'll disappear after 20 seconds). This attack can be used 3 times per battle for a total of 6 bricks.
