This quest had proved itself to be both a test of wills and immune systems, but Mildred seemed to have come to the conclusion that this terrible hardship had brought the three of them closer together, whatever the case. The past ninety few recovery periods had been spent carving the absolutely totally innocuous bones she'd collected near the end of the journey into rounded bone amulets, each bearing an identical imagine. Or mostly identical, because her eyesight was not magically improved via dysentery and hand-carving always created some imperfections. It seemed to bear an attempted gathering of each of their three representative animals. With the biggest smile yet (which was still not very large), she extended one to each of them. "For our Order of the Quest," she softly explained, tapping the amulet around her own neck. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 43 YOUR HP: 30

He wasn't fully conscious of the past few days that had come and gone, though there had been one particular memory of him being carried home in Robert's arms that was stuck in the forefront of his memory. He had been very, very sick the past few days, as had been the rest of the company. Dillon wasn't sure of what to make of the bone amulets, for they reminded him of his mortality – an awareness that had grown considerably over the last few days, but he accepted and donned the gift gratefully. “ With you, our lady luck, success be assured.” QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 67 YOUR HP: 30

If he could have told them about the sit-ups method of staying healthy, he would have. Instead, he just brooded darkly as she attached pendants to Dillon, and less darkly as she offered him the same service. His eyes were focused on Dillon, narrowing jealously at the little comment of luck. "Well I suppose this will give me not only luck, but super strength and immortality. That is the power you provide." He was always ready to try and one-up him; but in this case, as he charged to battle with a vicious boar, it almost looked like he was telling the truth. THE BATTLE WAS FEROCIOUS AND MANLY, BUT SOON ENOUGH HE WAS VICTORIOUS. And there was ham and bacon for all! He had been over zealous in his avoidance of the wild boar and side-stepped a little too far off the edge of the cliff. By now, his feet were getting used to the terrain, and he swiftly spun around and pulled himself back up the edge of the cliff. The sight of Robert victorious over the boar greeted him, and while it was thoroughly unimpressive (as he tried to convince himself), it was much better than seeing him buckled over and puking. Being named their 'luck' made Mildred feel a bit anxious, and she couldn't determine if it was the pressure of such a thing or if there should have been something more behind the feeling. It only grew worse when Robert added immortality to the list - what would if mean, then, if he proved that he was mortal after all? But he seemed intent on putting his faith in her, judging by how quickly he ran into battle, and she didn't want to discourage him. So she mumbled 'I cannot grant immortality' into the wind and the sounds of a wild boar's peril, and tried not to dwell on it. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 64 YOUR HP: 30

She tried so hard not to dwell on it, in fact, that her concentration in her attempts to avoid doing so caused her to avoid noticing that a rabbit was trying to chew right through her leg. Or it could have been permanent nerve damage as a result of her repeated illnesses. It was impossible to know for certain. The forest trek was where most of their failures had been accrued; something about the air or the water, or the food in this place caused the party to full inexplicably ill. Dillon paused and turned to Robert and Mildred, who had both suffered a few injuries from the most random confrontations with wildlife. Bandages were offered, much more carelessly to Robert, while he brought out some water to clean the wounds. “ I must seem a little too cautious by now,” he laughed weakly, taking a seat on a nearby rock where he'd retrieve some food from his knapsack. He would be greeted by the sight of a giant spider nested comfortably in his sandwich. There was no screaming. Only the quickest of motions as he hurled the contaminated sandwich into the forest. The bandages were taken with the same amount of callousness as they were given. Screeching in a high pitched voice was without question the least manly thing he'd ever done, Robert revealed he was scared of spiders. "Oh, no; not at all," Mildred assured Dillon, grateful for the fact that he had thought to come prepared. "We have set quite the precedent on our questing thus far, after all." At the instant the last syllable left her mouth, Robert screamed. She jumped, and the packhorse accompanying her reared up and ran off in the other direction. Baffled, she stared curiously at him, wondering what had earned such a reaction. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 49 YOUR HP: 20 Quote: Rolling a 3: Your horse gives up on you, running away. The dwarven mountains bore a grim sight, but there was a sense of gladness they had made it past the woods. Dillon brushed over the bone amulet around his neck, wondering if its components had been acquired from the scene around them. Were they carrying on the wishes of the fallen with them along this quest? The sentiment was rather romantic, if not morbid.
Something horrific echoed in the distance, sounding a lot like a boisterous cry of CONGRATULATIONS screams of anguish. There was a nagging feeling in his head that had him find the noise all too familiar, yet foreign at the same time. Something else he couldn't remember.
There was a lapse of caution, and a step too far amongst the pile of bones had unleashed the terror of snakes. Dillon hissed sharply as he felt the fangs of one sink into the shin of his right leg, prompting him to draw his sword and make quick work of the rest. The injury was nothing major, but he hoped to God that the bite wasn't venomous.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 49 YOUR HP: 20
