"Sometimes," Bitter End said, eyes glazed and philosophical, "we need to be reminded of our mortality in a contrived game of life and death. We must face fear, and learn that the Motherfather cares not about fear, and we are merely part of a cycle we have no control over." The last part was said with gritted teeth. Clearly End still had issues accepting her insignificance. Also, she got them lost and she wasn't about to tell Sleepless that.

Sleepless had become used enough to her that she could tune that whiny voice out after the first five words. She was more concerned with the fact that there were more Kin here than she'd seen together in her entire life and how she really didn't like being around other Kin, much less so many of them.

"For the record: if we die, I told you so."

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."A game?!" Apathy had stopped listening as soon as their host began dancing. She'd mistook this gathering for a competition and had been quietly (but with great enthusiasm) practicing the Chicken in the corner. Now, woefully unprepared and just a little lost, she went to stand beside someone in the hopes of absorbing their knowledge.

"The name's Lost Apathy," she said, leaning even closer to her unfortunate companion. "But you can call me Apathy."

If she realized her nickname was the absolute opposite of her name, she didn't say.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Watch the Skies was standing amongst the crowd, with her chin held high and expression of mild annoyence she'd listened to their host. A game? Well, she was most certainly above such childish entertainment, but here was an opportunity: her fellow kin here probably had no idea of the doom that threatened their beloved Matope. This was clearly the acha buck's show, and she'd gain no favour in rudely wrestling the spotlight from him, she'd have to wait for her moment.

A rather obtuse doe that had been prancing about in spot before loudly exclaiming the obvious behind her, now came to her side to introduce herself. She raised her brows delicately at the doe's nickname before introducing herself in turn, as was polite.

"Watch the Skies." She announced, dipping her head slightly in greeting. "Pleasure to meet you, Apathy."

She said this to the doe, to Apathy, but truly she was impartial. Gazing around the crowd she began identifying the key players, so to speak. Of course, their host held the most power but she doubt very much she'd hold any sway with him. She didn't know anyone, which while seemed common enough around the group, but put her at a disadvantage. Watch glanced back at Apathy, obviously lost in what was going on.

"Pardon my asking, but have you just arrived dear?" She asked perfectly friendly, polite, and oblivious despite knowing that had not been the case. "If you have missed our host's introduction I would be happy to summarise." An ally, even if a little dim, was an ally.

"I was born some time ago, but thanks!" It was good to know she still looked young, especially after those sacs she'd had. Whatever happened to them, anyway?

"I would not mind a summary, either," she said, with ill-concealed relief. It had been harder than she'd thought trying to read another's mind. "Much obliged, Sssssssssssssssssssssssssssss–" she squinted, trying to remember. A fine spray of spit began to coat the doe's shoulder. "–sssssssspotty!"

Well well here we go again, she spoke to herself in her mind.
Leaning against a tree like she did before, Kiss of Death just stood there while she checked the others out.
There were a lot of new faces for this game of wolves and sheeps.
The only one she recognized was the skelekin with bright green hair from last time.
Till this day she still wondered if they are related or not but the thought of looking into their blood line to find out sounds too boring.
Her eyes glanced over at the energetic acha.
A new host. Which means... No more crazy eyed lady from last time...

Bare Trees didn't really know what to expect. She was a little meek walking into this gathering, so not used to this many others around her! And even now it was the first time she'd met some other races. Trying to tear her eyes off the ground she looked around, though nearby against anything she could find, eyes looking around. "H-hello." It would be a wonder if anyone heard her voice though with how nervous she blurted it out.

She stood in the back and watched. The buck seemed to be talking about a game and things that happened last time. Was this what she wanted to do?

Shrugging, she was her now, might as well stick with it. Glancing at the others in the area, Trees noticed a vaguely familiar kimeti buck. Well, her dad was part of a tribe and that could be how. She hadn't been there in a while anyways.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Watch was disgusted. Disgusted. But she kept her head about her and merely pursed her lips. An ally, she reminded herself, is an ally.

Still, she’d supply what she’d offered before gracefully, without ramming the offending doe’s head into the ground, excuse herself and make off to meet others. She definitely would need more that this simpleton if she was to deliver her warning of space beings effectively.

And that’s exactly what she did, as best she could, the acha had been quite cryptic and truly she wasn't very clear of the game's intent or aim. She preyed the doe wouldn’t follow her and had given no chance for her to offer after announcing and taking her leave. Apathy didn’t exactly make for the best impressions, and well received first impressions were critical for success in polite society.

Also, Spotty? Really? She huffed to herself as she approached another kin amongst the crowd, hopefully one with a few more manners and a few less bumps to the head. She settled on another doe, a meek creature at first glance, and one unlikely to be a strong ally, (though she entertained that as long as this doe didn't spit all over her, it was an improvement) but one easily won over. As they caught each other's eyes the other doe offered a greeting, or at least Watch assumed it had been, she'd scarcely heard her.

"Good day, my name is Watch the Skies." She greeted in return, dipping her head politely. "Interesting character, wouldn't you say?" She asked conversationally, nodding her head towards their host, whom she watched mingle and socialise with an analytical eye.

Bare trees was a great hunter, strong and precise -- came from a fierce family, one a kimeti wouldn't want to meet. Though right now she didn't look like it the least with her head hung low, and eyes looking through the others she didn't recognize.

"Ahh, Sprig where are you.." he sighed for her eagle friend, who apparently went out to hunt themselves. She was pushed out of her thoughts by a bigger doe, Bare Trees feeling smaller than she was used to.

"Hello!! Ah! Good to meet you, Watch the Skies -- I'm Bare Trees," she blurted out, slightly flustered and prone to talk on and on now. She turned to the acha the doe was speaking about, nodding in agreement. "... Very strange. I must admit. But the game sounds interesting. Have you ever played it before? Well.. hopefully it will be fun! I mean, I'm sure it'll be!"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Watch stepped forward into the clearing. He had felt a sensation, a sensation so familiar to him in his youth, yet faded now in his old age, from farther down near the river side. Something was happening, something worth seeing, worth keeping so that he may tell his friends and daughters and strangers of the excitement that happened here.

A story was about to be born, he could taste it.

And so, as he approached the conglomeration and made his way through the throng of kin, he learned of the game that was to be played. With a grin that tripled the curiosity in his bright red eyes, Watch agreed to take part. Afterword, he stood back, noting every new kin as a character, wrapping them in their early glimpses of personality and making guesses at their back stories. Like this, he waited for the games to begin.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Watch was able to smile genuinely as her second ally-to-be chattered on, Bare Trees, as she'd introduced herself. The doe might not have stuck out as a strong influence or figure to hone in on, but certainly she was amenable and would be easy to befriend judging by her eagerness for converse.

"Lovely to meet you also," Watch remarked kindly, once she was able to get a word in. "I have not! In fact, I'd never even heard of it. Though..."

She glanced over to where a particularly loud buck raved about what Watch could only assume had been the results and going ons of the prior game, not that it made much sense to her. Predators? Prey? Surely this wasn't a rough and tumble type game, for that would be something Watch would simply not be involved with. She was a lady, and ladies, no matter how capable, do not condone such behaviour. Besides, their host had assured them there would be no "real" violence.

"It sounds as though it was quite the event last time. Our host was rather cryptic in his introduction, I imagine he'll keep us guessing as to how this is to be played out."

"Ahhh yes, where are my manners," the green and brown buck drawled, his tone suddenly switching from loud and whining to glib and smooth. "My name is Wild Sage. Nice to meet you all - I do hope nobody's opinions of anyone else are affected by the confrontational nature of the game," he added with a wan smile. He'd already made one disastrously bad impression last time - it'd be a real drag to pick up another murderous enemy over this stupid game. Why had he even decided to play it again?

That was right - he'd lost the game last time, and that made him mad, and that made him want to beat it. It made him want to beat the ever-loving snooty out of it. All the choice does that seemed drawn to it like moths to flame sure helped to sweeten the pot, though. While he was scoping out the selection, he saw some very familiar colors - emphasis on famil, as in family. Yikes, better steer clear of that one, he thought. Damn shame, she's a hottie with a body.

Confrontational? Her ears twitched. She did not remember the wolf-doe mentioning anything about confrontations. In retrospect, it would have been wise to make the wolf-doe tell her much more than "oh, just a game". Too late for that.

It wasn't, however, too late to introduce herself. She bounced forward, placing herself in a group of kin, and smiled widely. "I am Giveforward but my sister calls me Lamb," she announced. (The resolve to channel her sister was clearly already put aside.)

"Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who hasn't played, before.... it seems the newest of us are a bit outmatched, doesn't it?" She smiles a little, and glances toward Watch, and then some of the others gathered as she makes her way from the edge of the gathering inward.

"My name is Trouble, but don't let that fool you.... I'm usually rather kind," her smile is directed more toward a few of the bucks present, but she doesn't leave the prettier of the does out, either. "So nice to meet you all."
