Cassiel

In truth, Cassiel had come to his conclusion at a speed that Serrin may not have been terribly comfortable with. While he'd been taught to never assume ill intent of others, he knew better than to disregard past actions when it came to the present. Serrin had, once before, used what could be called underhanded tactics to achieve a certain purpose, and the idea of drugging another Pokemon's tea was much up the same path of reasoning. He knew that Serrin and Erinn were acquainted, and anyone acquainted with Erinn would know how difficult it could be to wring conversation out of him, particularly on touchy issues; it didn't take much to deduce the origins of Erinn's strange behavior or the intent behind the one who'd caused it. Similarly to the time it had happened before, while Cassiel didn't necessarily think it the most ideal course of action he saw the effectiveness of it and could respect it (and, in this case, add it to his options when it came to dealing with his anxious charge). The conclusion seemed reasonable and Serrin was clearly lacking in malice here, so Cassiel saw little reason to elaborate further unless it provoked a visible reaction, which it did not.

The Lapras listened in return to the explanation he'd been waiting for, a gleam of understanding registering in his eyes. So a sedative was the cause, hence his friend's drowsiness by the end of their meeting. A creature of Erinn's size likely couldn't stomach too much of a drug like that, hence the smaller size of the jar most likely, an assumption that Serrin very quickly proved to be true. "Day after day? Goodness no." The remark amused Cassiel to the point that he couldn't prevent the small chuckle that escaped his lips. "No, perhaps you misunderstand my intent. I don't intend to dose him with it at all if it's unnecessary, that would defeat my purpose here." He had one primary goal and that was to help Erinn, not to offer him a crutch. "I wish to work with Erinn and help him come to terms with his ailment, not provide him with a temporary remedy. He's perfectly capable of functioning without them, but that's a fact he has to learn for himself. While we're working towards that goal however, something to help him function on the worst days could hardly be amiss I would think." That was all there was to it. Particularly if there would be adverse effects when using it frequently, Cassiel only intended to use it when absolutely necessary. Hopefully that would be enough to ease Serrin's worries.

Serrin

"I don't." There was no misunderstanding, at least not from the still stern Ivysaur. The misunderstanding was on Cassiel's side. "This is a powerful tool. If you abuse it, there can be some very real, very serious consequences. If I'm going to give it to you, you have to fully understand it. Even if you intend to only use it once in a while, there could be a time in Erinn's life where severe stress is a day-to-day problem. When you give something to someone that can hurt them, it's your duty to make sure they know how to keep themselves safe." Serrin had a fair enough grasp on Cassiel's intent. He wanted something that could carry Erinn through the worst days, the worst problems. He wanted to have a real option that he could use in order to handle these things since kind words and psychological tricks could only get you so far. You could only make a problem seem so much smaller than it was. That was fine. The problem was that the road to hell was always paved by good intentions and for Erinn, gross misuse would indeed make his life become a very real hell. Once a day was fine but if he became dependent on it, the rebound would amplify his anxiety several times. Serrin wasn't about to let that happen.

"I will not help someone hurt themselves pointlessly. If I'm going to let this escape my supervision, I'm going to absolutely make sure that the person using it has the right character and the right information to use it properly." He wasn't mad at Cassiel or anything like that. While his tone lacked any kind of joy, sarcasm or amusement, it wasn't negative either. It was appropriately even and serious. This wasn't a simple request or a bit of simple information between colleagues, this was an unyielding statement. "I think you have the former. I'm going to make sure you have the latter. I wouldn't be doing right by you, by Erinn, by the guild or by myself if I didn't."

Cassiel

Cassiel's expression changed to one of greater gravity when Serrin responded with his abrupt remark. It was considerably off-putting, given the amiable nature of their exchange thus far, but perhaps not unwarranted. It was clear that the Ivysaur didn't want him to take this matter lightly, and it would seem that Serrin was interpreting his attitude as such although it was far from it. Well, it couldn't be helped: if anything he appreciated that the Rescue Leader was taking it all so seriously more than he was offended for being chided by him. "I understand," he responded somberly, nodding in response to the warning. "You don't know much about me and any substance with mind-altering effects should only be used with utmost caution by someone who understands the power of what they're using. I appreciate that you value my leader enough to be so wary about trusting me with something that could cause him any sort of harm, and I hope you can understand that I have no intent of using this tea without hearing your instruction first. If you gave it to me now it would be useless to me."

The Lapras adjusted his position slightly, bending his neck so he didn't have to stare straight down at the Ivysaur. "I have the utmost respect for herbal remedies, but I am equally cautious of them because of how sensitive they are: plants can harm as easily as they can heal. For myself and my companions of the past, there have been other methods I've used to deal with medical issues: Water Types have our own methods for treating these things that don't work as well with Pokemon of the land variety. Since Erinn is far from that category, and you both share the Grass Type heritage, I trusted that you would have knowledge that I lack in that category." Cassiel dipped his head to his companion. "I am of the opinion that only a fool would try to use medicine without understanding it first--as, I gather, you are as well. You have my word that I will never use this tea without the proper precautions, and I will report to you if I find any sign that something has gone wrong." The Lapras lowered his eyes to the teas, a pensive look in their depths. "A life is nothing that I would trifle with." The comment was murmured under his breath, and more a thought spoken aloud than anything directed at Serrin, but it clearly meant something to Cassiel--something that indicated through its tone just how serious he took the matter to be.

Serrin

Serrin nodded. There still seemed to be a bit of a schism between the two in that Serrin wouldn't have offered it at all unless he thought Cassiel had the necessary character, but that wasn't a big deal. Trust wasn't in the equation because it wasn't possible to reasonably trust someone with it without first thoroughly teaching them how it worked. "We're both in agreement then. If I thought you lacked the character to be trusted with it, we wouldn't be here. But character or not, it needs to be respected and understood."

Which, of course, left the understanding part. Cassiel seemed to appreciate the actual weight of the tea which meant it was time to explain it fully. "Anyways, it's simple to use. Just take an appropriately sized tea cup and gently shake tea into it until the bottom is covered. If you want a more mild effect, use both jars in the preferred amounts. The water should be brought fairly close to a boil in order to make sure it brews properly. If you're in a hurry, heat it up and then cool it down by adding a bit of colder water. You have a fair degree of comfort in terms of dosing, so while I wouldn't intentionally add more you don't have to excessively concern yourself with getting the perfect amount. The problems with it mostly come from intense usage, either by taking about twice as much as you should at once or by taking it for multiple days in a row. If you only use it once in a while, it doesn't cause any problems. The three day window is enough as long as you use roughly appropriate doses." Serrin was being significantly overzealous in how much and how often it could be used. He didn't want Erinn to have to go through serious problems and, honestly, the less it was used the better. Anything could be a crutch. "It's a bit different this time from before, so it won't be as strong as it was a few days ago. That's normal. At low-to-normal doses it shouldn't sedate him in any significant manner and he should be able to think more clearly. I would avoid using normal doses before missions but low doses might be fine. It varies from person to person but as the dose gets higher, his reactions might slow down and his coordination might be a bit lower. It's a fairly minor difference but it's not exactly the kind of problem you want in the middle of a mission."

Serrin had never been strongly judgmental and he had never scolded Cassiel, at least not intentionally. His tone lightened as he spoke further since a fair understanding had been reached but it was abundantly clear that every word and every idea he spoke had an important and necessary weight behind it. It was not often that Serrin was willing to provide his tea to someone else this way, a fact that Cassiel may not have fully appreciated. Normally they were considered the secrets of his village.

Cassiel

"Well, I'm glad to have made a good impression," Cassiel returned, understanding more of what Serrin was hinting at now. The Ivysaur was more abrupt than the Pokemon Cassiel was used to dealing with, but from the sounds of it he was trying to convey that it was an important thing to be trusted with this tea at all. For a calm and laid-back Pokemon like Cassiel, it was considerably startling to have a light-hearted remark met with such a stern tone as Serrin often used, but perhaps that was just the way the Ivysaur acted usually--everything Cassiel had seen thus far would support such a thought. If that was the case perhaps he was trying, in his own way, to say that he possessed a certain degree of respect for him--a respect that the Lapras returned in kind. "I appreciate that you're willing to share your knowledge with me," he added, his tone returning to it's usual, easy, melodious sound. "It means a great deal to learn from someone with your level of skill." He meant every word as well: while he had no idea how privileged the information he was learning truly was, he appreciated that it couldn't be any common knowledge he was being given, for all that it was worth.

Cassiel listened closely to Serrin's explanation, running through the actions mentally. "It was a good idea to lessen the dosage," the Lapras said approvingly, "He was sound asleep before we reached home last time." It had been quite amusing, but also a valuable lesson: as overzealous as Serrin may have been, Cassiel more than matched it, already making a mental note to limit the tea servings to once a week if at all possible. "Ideally we won't need to use it before missions--he seems rather capable when faced with that level of confrontation curiously enough--but I'll keep in mind to lessen it if that need ever arises. I'm thinking it would be more helpful after missions truthfully..." Once Erinn was out of a conflict zone and able to process the situation further he began to second guess things and re-evaluate his previous decisions: that was when the need to soothe him was most urgent.

Sparing another glance at the jar containing the drugged tea, Cassiel pondered the commentary thoughtfully. "If a normal dose is just enough to cover the bottom, then this should be enough for quite a while--particularly given the infrequency of the medication." The Lapras seemed pleased by this fact. "Would you mind sharing some of the tea without the drug as well, or the way to make the blend? That way I'll be able to make the effects more mild, and perhaps serve him some without the medicine from time to time, if he takes a liking to it." It may have been Serrin's intent all along, especially given his phrasing, but it never hurt to confirm such things politely.

Pausing thoughtfully, Cassiel frowned a bit as he mulled his plans over carefully. "You know, I hadn't planned to tell him about the effects of the tea," the Lapras said pensively, "But do you think I should? If the blends taste the same and he's aware of the effect he could possibly be taught to feel the same level-headedness without the drug in time. Then again, if he's aware of the drug he may try to fight it, and a medication that is fought never works as well as it should..." Tilting his head, he regarded Serrin curiously. "Do you have an opinion on the subject?" In part, he was asking because Serrin may have had previous experience with this sort of thing; in part, he was asking because he was gaining a good deal of respect for the Ivysaur's opinion.

Serrin

From the way Cassiel spoke, it seemed to Serrin that they had finally "clicked" on a basis of mutual respect. Cassiel respected Serrin as a teacher, a fact that Serrin acknowledged with his own body, and Serrin respected Cassiel as a student. This meant, in some ways, being very straightforward. Talking about tea was a friendly activity, as it had been when they were speaking prior. Talking about this kind of tea was not and he would treat it accordingly. "It's not a problem. It's good to have something to talk about once in a while." Though he did seem to genuinely enjoy the more social aspects of the visit.

Serrin waited, as a teacher should wait, for Cassiel to mull through the totality of his thoughts so that they could be addressed fluidly, completely and without interruption. Every time the Lapras stopped speaking he seemed to have another thought on his mind, another word on his tongue and so Serrin waited until Cassiel's thoughts came to slow down. "All three jars are yours as far as I'm concerned." Serrin had had that intent from the start. The pair of teas meant for Erinn were meant to compliment and obfuscate one another, or at the very least to simply guarantee that a pleasant and safe option was always available. The jar for Cassiel was just that; Serrin wasn't so crude as to send a guest home with nothing. "I can't teach you to make it yourself, the process for acquiring some of the components is a bit complicated." A few of them took a bit of time. "But I can produce more fairly easily in either case, I just need advance notice." If you knew how, it wasn't that bad a process. "Either way, the current blend should be fine most of the time. When I gave it to him before, I erred slightly on the side of excess. It wasn't a very strong dose but it's quite common for people to have an exaggerated reaction the first time." Or, in a more thorough sense, Serrin had underestimated the strength of Erinn's first dose reaction. It was hard to tell what exactly had caused it, whether it was a simple size issue, a physiology issue or a mental issue. It wouldn't be surprising if Erinn got sleepy after most doses simply due to the fact that the anxiety was probably the main thing keeping him awake. Not to mention it did a fine job of making it hard to sleep.

"As for telling him..." Serrin's voice dropped into silence as he thought. That was, in truth, a very complicated subject. It was true that Serrin's experience was probably wider and more significant than Cassiel's but there was a limit to that. The drink had largely been a recreational brew among his own people and, on occasion, a means to a somewhat ill-gotten though never malevolent end. There weren't many in his lineage who had dealt with a problem like Erinn's to any significant degree and there were even fewer that he could recall, leaving Serrin to rely more on his understanding of people at large rather than the specific issue at hand. "Erinn can't 'fight' the drug but it could make him more self-critical. It depends on how he considers it. A drug doesn't change who you are. It doesn't change why you act, only how you act. The question you have to ask is whether or not Erinn truly and deeply understands that. If he does, if he fully appreciates his own character, then he'll find a way to accept it. If he doesn't, he'll think he's worthless because he needs tea to calm down."

The question was whether or not Erinn was willing to accept that the drug helped him or if he would bury himself in the thought that the drug was the only good "part" of himself. Making Erinn feel as if he was worthless without a cup to "fix" him wasn't at all productive.

"I don't know Erinn as well as you do but I'm not sure if he's ready to accept that." It was a sad thing to Serrin, a fact that was reflected in the somber tone of his voice. "I'll also have to ground something here and now. Erinn will most likely never fully recover from how he feels. Time and effort will help him but he will probably never stop being anxious." People could change, people could heal and get better. Serrin knew that. He also knew that, in truth, people who changed often changed in spite of their basic natures. Violent and wrathful people learned to control their rage, they never truly quelled it. Erinn, too, would learn to deal with his problems; they would become manageable, not non-existent.

Cassiel

Cassiel smiled at the gesture. "Thank you. That's quite the generous gift." One of Cassiel's cut never expected anything to come freely, so to receive three specially made teas as a gesture from the Rescue Leader was very flattering indeed. The Lapras wondered if he would have the chance to pay back such a gesture in kind in the future--if he could manage it, it would be done, but there became the question of what gift was appropriate... He dismissed the matter quickly, aware that it was an issue for a different place and time, but the thought remained: kindness would be repaid with kindness in turn--it was the way the Lapras had been taught all his life.

It didn't come as much of a surprise to Cassiel that he wouldn't be able to create the tea on his own: it seemed like a skill acquired with more practice and time than a busy Guild member should be able to devote to it. He nodded, in turn, to the commentary on over-reacting to the first dosage. Erinn could be dramatic about many things, so for his body to react drastically seemed to follow accordingly. The Paras was a small creature who ran on nervous energy and a few slivers of pride--take either away from him and he could crash very hard and very fast. "I think it can be attributed to a number of things," the Lapras said with a nod, "At the very least it did nothing to harm him. He likely slept better than he had in quite some time, and he was back to his usual self when he awoke." Granted it had been the next day, but Cassiel attributed that to exhaustion rather than an overdose on the sedative--the Paras had been up fairly early the following day and hadn't been lethargic since, so he assumed it was fine.

Then the question he was most concerned with. The Lapras listened patiently as Serrin voiced his thoughts on the matter his expression unchanging from thoughtful consideration throughout. "Well, I knew that from the start," Cassiel said to Serrin's final comment, though not unkindly. "Erinn is not someone who can be fixed because he's not broken. He functions differently from people like you and I, and it's more a matter of helping him to understand that this is both not an insurmountable obstacle and not something that is necessarily eternally detrimental to him." There were those with odd compulsions who were quite successful in the world, and there were ways that his fears could become strengths if he would let them. The biggest thing in the way was the Paras's mental blockade of self-depreciation; if Erinn could find a way to slip through its cracks, he would have the potential to discover that there was more to him than his crippling anxiety, and that others could see that too if given the chance.

Considering the whole situation thoroughly, the Lapras took a long moment to weigh his options thoroughly, taking advantage of Serrin's patience on the matter. "I think it would be best kept between us for now," Cassiel said decisively when he had finished. "Before he can understand the purpose of the tea he needs to understand himself and his own worth. As of late he's been dealing with some serious doubts in that area." It was most likely true that Erinn would merely use the tea as another piece of evidence that he was worthless on his own, and that was the last thing that Cassiel wanted. While drugging someone without their knowledge was a morally dubious act, it seemed, in this case, to be the lesser of two evils.

Serrin

"Mmm." It was a neutral acknowledgment and little more. It was good that Cassiel knew what to expect, or at least that he thought he knew what to expect. It was very easy to get frustrated when you tried to help someone. It was a very real, very thick and very sturdy wall. Hopefully Cassiel would see it for what it is and he would be ready for when Erinn hit it because otherwise it would prove to be a very difficult time for both of them.

Well, that was then and this was now. "I'm inclined to agree." Where it had been implicit before, it was explicit now. "Letting him build up the confidence he needs is a good idea... If he learns to handle things properly, he might be fine without the tea. If he learns to stop questioning himself, that might just be what it takes. Teaching him not to get stuck on himself is probably the most important thing we can do and if you need a bit of deception to do it, it's worth it." If Erinn stopped doubting himself there was the chance that he would be completely and totally fine without it. Ideally, if he was fine without it, he would never need to be told that it had been used on him so as to never risk undermining his confidence but that wasn't exactly Serrin's judgment to make. It was significantly preferable to risking sending Erinn back down into a spiral of anxiety and judgmental behaviour but Cassiel would reach that conclusion on his own if he was inclined to do so.

"Either way, it's yours." Serrin would keep an eye on things well enough to see to it that things were fine but it was ultimately up to Cassiel to use it how he saw fit. "It's not a problem if you need more, just feel free to come ask if you ever need any. It takes a few days to get together but I keep the supplies I need on hand for the most part. All it takes is a bit of time." There was more to it than just that, but it was the truth. The reality was that Cassiel would never be able to make the teas even with thorough instruction by virtue of the fact that he simply wasn't the right type of pokemon. "So don't worry about it."

Cassiel

"Yes, my thoughts exactly." Well, perhaps not exactly, but similarly enough to know that he and Serrin were functioning on the same wavelength. The important thing was for the Ivysaur to agree that he wouldn't let Erinn know about what had taken place here, because it would be better for him overall. Cassiel didn't really expect Erinn to be so suspicious as to approach Serrin about anything of course, but it never hurt to cover all of one's bases. Lies were tricky things, and could be unraveled at the slightest misstep: honesty was much easier to deal in, but at this point that wasn't the better option. Exhaling through his nose, Cassiel stared down at the trio of jars for a long moment. It was a dangerous path to be walking for one with such innocent motives, but if it was necessary... "Hopefully we'll be able to work it out over time. It's mostly a matter of patience after all." And if Cassiel had any great virtue, it was most definitely his patience.

Serrin's latter comments were rather conclusive, and Cassiel was quick to pick up on the hint. He had the information he needed after all, so he didn't mind terribly if he was being dismissed. With great care, the Lapras bent his neck and took each of the jars into his mouth one by one, transferring them to his shell carefully; they rested with surprising security against the rounded knobs there, and it was clear that Cassiel was well-practiced in the art of balancing this sort of thing--Serrin needn't worry that they would fall and break. "I suppose my captain will be anxiously awaiting my return," the Lapras said lightly, "Unless of course you have any other bits of wisdom you'd be willing to share before I go?" He could still take a bit more, if it was given. Right now he had the building blocks he needed and was eager to work with those, but if there was anything else Serrin was willing to share with him he'd gladly listen: Cassiel was a most diligent pupil to have.

A stray thought darted across the Lapras's mind as he awaited Serrin's reply and he added another quick comment as well. "Ah. Erinn also requested that I ask you if anything he said at our last meeting offended you, and if so to offer his deepest apologies. He hopes that he hasn't made a bad 'second first impression' as it were." Cassiel would be most surprised to hear if Serrin had been upset by anything that had happened, but it would be useful to know as well, so that he could better understand the complicated character of his new acquaintance. Whatever Serrin said though, Erinn would be told that everything had gone smoothly: the results would be terrible if the first time Erinn took a chance like that he was given negative feedback.

Serrin

Serrin gave a nod to agree to the importance of patience and skipped to the more important parts. "It goes without saying but don't give it to anyone other than Erinn. I'm not quite sure what would happen if a different kind got into it and I don't think you want to be the one to find out." Erinn could take it fine, as could other bug types, but if a pokemon of another species were to take it the results would be unpredictable. In some cases it would do nothing, in other cases the stomach might reject it. It could even, possibly, have a very different and much more difficult to control effect. The tea was built on the known interactions that the composition had on different types and species, there had never been any reason to test them more broadly. Why bother testing a relaxing tea for bugs on a more prototypical pokemon when you had a similar tea that was perfectly suitable for them? "I don't think you'll give it to anyone other than Erinn, but consider it an extra warning. As for whether or not he offended me, well," It was a silly question and Cassiel's prediction had been right on the mark. "I'm not the type to be offended and Erinn isn't the type to cause offense." People didn't do things without reasons and it was very rare to come across such a truly odious person that Serrin would feel any actual hatred or dislike for their actions alone. Frustration, annoyance, sure; he could feel these things towards someone but it wasn't a matter of being "offended". The closest Erinn had ever gotten to that was the fact that Erinn didn't seem to fully appreciate the depth of Serrin's experiences. In things like death, loss and pain--Serrin had been through it a great many times and in a great many ways. It had been a bit frustrating but no more and he understood why Erinn had said what he had, so it was fine.

A truly terrible person would not cause offense but rather a deep and thorough dislike. Erinn was awkward parts confident, anxious, naive and experienced. That was all.

"Would you like a jar to carry the bags in?"

A bit of an afterthought, but it was there nonetheless. He did have a bag available, he simply hadn't placed the tea in it to begin with for the sake of convenience and visibility. But he really couldn't see how Cassiel was going to carry the jars back otherwise.

Cassiel

The thought of giving the tea to anyone other than Erinn had been the furthest thing from Cassiel's mind--a fact that was plainly written on his face a surprised expression. "Based on my personal experience with its cousin, I wouldn't give that tea to anyone else regardless of whether it was drugged or not," the Lapras said honestly, "Needless to say, I plan to be far more careful in what tea I serve to each individual from now on. The sensitive nature of the contents is only one of a number of reasons why I wouldn't publicly distribute this tea; you don't have to worry about that." Some people were particularly fond of sweet tea, but that wasn't something Cassiel planned on counting on--better to err on the side of neutrality than to overwhelm an unsuspecting individual with too-intense flavors.

Serrin's response to Erinn's question was met with an easy nod, coming much as Cassiel had anticipated. "He'll be very pleased to hear it." The Paras was rather easily mollified when it came down to it, and hearing the words that Serrin had replied with would certainly make him feel more at ease about the whole thing.

As for the Ivysaur's question, Cassiel's eyes grew tinged with amusement when the offer was given, understanding the skepticism that would provoke such a question. "If you have one handy I wouldn't mind," he replied, "If not..." The Lapras pressed his front flippers into the ground and pushed the front of his ponderous body up ever so slightly. The motion was laborious but practiced, and it caused the carefully positioned jars to move in response to the change in gravity: the more unexpected part was just how they moved. The two larger jars both rolled inward, meeting one another in the middle and preventing each other from falling; the third jar fell back simultaneously, and landed securely between the crevice where the two larger jars had met. The deliberateness of how the jars had been positioned was clear now, and when Cassiel allowed his weight to fall back to an even distribution once more. "...This will suffice. But I don't have a particular preference." When one's primary source of usefulness was transporting objects and Pokemon despite the inconvenience of one's shape, they were forced to pick up a few tricks: Cassiel had many such tricks in his arsenal.

"It's just due prudence." That was all. It was an afterthought, if it had been important he would have mentioned it earlier on. "There will be pokemon who might be anxious or who might be interested in it. There's probably going to be pokemon who will be both interested and capable of getting it themselves, too." It was mostly pointed out due to that. The results of the tea on other species wouldn't be predictable and it was prudent to make sure that Cassiel knew that, even if he would make sure that he never needed the knowledge. Well, that itself was kind of the point; someone adequately armed would make sure a problem would never happen, someone inadequately armed wouldn't know to stop it.

Also, Serrin didn't know what the exact situation with Silver was at that point, but you Espeon were... often fickle.

Not bad. "It looks like you have it covered." Serrin was a bit amused. It was skillful, to say the least. It made sense in its own way, though it was a bit surprising; water types usually didn't adapt quite so well. But, bag or no bag, Serrin would still extend a vine past Cassiel to pull open the door open. "Feel free to stick your head back in if you need anything."

Cassiel

"Mmm, I'll keep that in mind." More likely than not, any Pokemon searching for this tea would be hard-pressed to find it however. It wouldn't be kept on the shelf with the other teas, but in a very special spot where Cassiel kept a few other things of great value to him. Silver would be terribly interested in the tea if he found it, and an explanation would be given to him if it was asked, but the Lapras would just as soon keep as many extra eyes off the tea as possible. He was beginning to question the nature of this deception a bit, wondering just how popular this sedative was amongst recreational users and how freely he'd be giving this information for Serrin to be so terribly concerned about others trying to get their hands on it. Perhaps he was just being overly cautious as he claim but it did seem to be bordering on excessive by this point. Ah well, it was working at least: if Cassiel had been planning to be cautious beforehand he would be at least twice that by this point.

He smiled back at Serrin's apparent pleasure at his handiness and nodded, turning to face the door when it was opened for him. "I'll be sure to do that," Cassiel replied contentedly. "It's been a pleasure Serrin. Thank you once again." Turning back to incline his head to the Ivysaur, the Lapras then gently glided out of the room headed for home again. He mulled over the things he'd learned as he traveled, keeping them fresh in his mind for the notes he would take, and was more than prepared to face Erinn's questions by the time he arrived.

Lux

Lux breathed in the warmth of the holiday cookies he placed on the ground before the chamber of the Guildmaster and his fellows, smiling slightly at the thoughtfulness of his leader. If he hadn’t been stopped, the Meowstic would probably have made something for every member of the Guild, but Nyx had been quick enough to insist that there just wasn’t enough reason to do something so large-scale for Pokemon they’d never even met. So the compromise had been the candy jar on their door, something that had amused the Lucario to no end when he felt the prickling of displeasure from Nyx at even that. Lux himself had never been a large fan of holidays, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t appreciate those who were; in fact, a love of holidays often corresponded with a love of giving, which was a good quality to be found in any Pokemon.

Neo had left him the most straightforward of tasks, simply delivering the cookies to the five heads of the Guild before coming back, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. There was something delightful about leaving a present to be discovered absent of the gift-giver, which is why he was quick to volunteer even when he could have simply looked after the children while the others were gone. Instead that task had been given to Alexandru, and he’d gotten the chance to deliver a present—something he hadn’t done for more years than he could remember—and that was exciting. A few short raps at the door and the Lucario slipped away, sprinting around the corner in case someone came too readily to answer his knocking. He listened closely for the sound of the door opening before he left, just to ensure that they didn’t assume the knock had been a mistake, and then began his walk back to the Team Room after catching the taste of surprise on his tongue. Ah holidays—they really were a treat for everyone involved. It was nice to have Pokemon to be able to share them with again.

The note on the cookie plate was short and sweet.

Thank you for all your hard work! Wishing you the happiest of holidays!
