Spotting his opening as Gible fell, Ace quickly took off in a swift dash, slowing down almost instantly into a jog as he spotted the large tree in the distance. Smoke still rose from the other side of the tree, so he quickly assumed that had to be the old man, luckily it was... however. Upon turning the corner he saw the old man didn't quite look as... young. In fact this old man looked like nothing more then a skeleton. bandages now wrapped around the old man's eyes, the items before him appeared like they'd weathered many years; rusted and falling apart the once interesting items appeared like junk. Ace stared at the man with a furrowed brow.. how could this have happened? Was this an illusion? "What was with all those dragons old man!" Ace shouted suddenly. Shakily the old man looked up, his mouth opening as if to say something, but nothing came.... his lips appeared cracked and dry... his entire body appeared rather dry... any more bandages and Ace'd thought he was a mummy or something. "What happened to you?" The old man struggled to lift his arm, resting it on the incense burner, the incense Ace had placed within it still burning.
Looking around, he noticed now there were no more dragons. Fia appeared on edge still though, as did Derosa who was biting down on one of her rose's petals with a nervous look on her eyes. Amarantha seemed... confused more then anything. She tucked in close to Ace's neck, hugging her flower tightly. The air was unsettling that was for sure.... but what could it be? Finally some sort of noise came from the Old man. It was nothing more then dry crackles, but when Ace looked back to the Old man, there was a black Poke ball in his hand, the Pokemon from within emerged, showing a Haunter... was he, challenging him? Fia's fur turned upright upon seeing the Haunter, and she quickly leaped between the ghost and Ace, arching her hind quarters into the air. "Fia.... It's just a Haunter." Ace stated, though he himself felt it wasn't 'just a Haunter'.

Whatever the case a battle commenced as the Haunter flew forward and attacked Fia with Night Shade, stopping midway to use it's attack. Fia yelped in pain as the ghost-type attack came over her. Shaking out her fur the fox launched an Ember attack upon the Haunter in response, watching as the hot flame gained contact with the ghost. The heat of the attack seemed to bother it far more then normal, it seemed to frustrate and anger the ghost, and this time it wasn't the simple Night Shade it casted. Instead a large nail-like object appeared and pierced the ghost, as it did so the Haunter pushed his hands forward and cast a dark substance over Fia. This was Curse, they had to end this battle right now. "End it!" Ace shouted, stopping for a moment in recognition to how he was acting.... It was odd, to fear for Fia... after all it was just Curse, and the Haunter had done itself in by using the attack.... Fia would be fine as soon as the ghost was fainted. With another Ember, the Haunter floated down to the grass. Recovering himself, Ace approached Fia, finding himself slowing down as he grew closer... the fox should have recovered from the curse attack, but... she'd collapsed to her side, a black cloud hanging over the vixen's body. "Fia?" Ace hesitantly lowered himself, reaching a hand forward slowly as he did. The fox's heat was intense, and it appeared she was having troubles breathing.... heat should be no problem for a fire-type. Suddenly Fia leaped up, her body burst into flames and she ran straight for the old man. "Fia!" Ace shouted, watching as the fox leaped up, tackling the tree just above the old man instead of him himself. From the tree something small fell, though it was so small, no one appeared to notice it. Fia subsequently had knocked herself out, and was now laying on a smoldering blanket, the flame from her attack burning the cloth. It finally dawned on Ace to grab Fia's Pokeball and return her, but by the time he did, he noticed something laying on the fox's back.... was it eating the dark cloud?
Once more he approached with hesitation, kneeling down to find a small lizard-like creature laying on Fia's side, quite literally eating the black cloud. "What the hell are you?" Ace asked, startling the lizard creature. It looked up at Ace, for a moment, locking eyes with the creature, there was an odd sensation that ran down Ace's spine. It took a lot to startle him, but this... there was a foreboding sensation resting over the lizard. However, Ace had never seen a creature like this before, but something also seemed somewhat familiar about it. Grabbing a pokeball from his bag, the male watched as the lizard, perhaps sensing no threat in Ace, went back to eating the dark cloud. The more it consumed the better and cooler it seemed Fia got.... when the last bit of the dark cloud was gone, and the lizard content, Ace quickly used the Pokeball on it. Fia squirmed a bit from the pressure Ace had to use on making sure the ball registered the tiny creature, but she quickly settled down and fell asleep. Returning Fia for the time being, Ace stood up once more, remembering the old man... sitting before him, the same old man from before. He met glances with Ace, a smile widely across his face. "Welcome back, has fate treated you well so far?" The old man asked. Ace stared at the man, in his mind he was in disbelief, it didn't seem the old man knew what he'd just been through... perhaps it had just been an illusion? Whatever the case, Ace stood up straight, placing Nova's ball into his bag for the time being, setting the newest addition's ball on his belt. "It's been like a roller-coaster, actually." Ace replied. "Ah, well that is often the case. Would you like to burn another incense?" Shaking his head the male waved a hand towards the old man, and quickly gathered Derosa, heading off towards the path to the right. "No thanks Old man, I think I'd like to be surprised from now on."
Not much longer did Ace finally get set on the right path, he noticed the trainer from earlier. It seemed they hadn't gotten that far after all. Folding his arms, the male somewhat slowed his pace.... he was still hesitant on this whole... .mingling with the common trainer thing. Glancing to Derosa the rose-handed Pokemon replied with a grin. "Fine, it appears we're going the same direction anyway." With that, he quickened his pace once more, slowing down a mere few feet from the trainer. "Excuse me," Ace called. "It appears we're going the same direction, are you perhaps a starting trainer like me?" There wasn't much Ace noticed about the trainer that he liked, aside from the silver hair, there really wasn't much going on.... it was still a bit hard to determine if he was a male or female, which annoyed Ace, since he prided himself on knowing the difference between the two... It sort of reminded him of Joker, that red-head was so androgynistic that he often forgot he wasn't a she. Whatever the case, his answer would hopefully come with the trainer's voice.

○ ○ ○ Maiku spent some time trying to figure out how to carry the egg in a safer manner. Holding it himself was starting to make him paranoid. Maybe if he used his extra shirt as a blanket and put it in his bag. As he struggled with the debate, he failed to notice the trainer from before approach him, and neither Furea or Suzu felt the need to let him know. Well, Furea was watching. Suzu was pretty much paying little attention to them and more at the forest, waiting for another battle.Oh, crap....Pokemon are one thing, but people are different.Because he knew what Pokemon were thinking. He couldn't read human minds unless they dropped their defenses. Even then, it was difficult. It rarely ever worked."Uh....Yes, I am. I'm Maiku....Who are you?"

Flashing a smile, Ace rested a hand upon his hip. "Adolph." He replied, giving his name. The male then motioned towards the Roselia on his shoulder along with the Floette. "This is Derosa and Amarantha." The Roselia nodded with a grin hidden behind one of her rose-hands. 'What a creepy shirt he's wearing' The Roselia stated, glancing over to Amarantha. The Floette hugged the stem of her flower and floated closer to Derosa. 'Just like that odd thing master caught' The fairy replied. 'Well at least it helped Fia out, that was certainly frightening' Derosa seemingly hugged herself, shivering a bit.
Looking over the trainer, Ace determined this.. Maiku was a male, not as interesting, but that egg he was holding was. Not one to really pay much attention to the breeding process of Pokemon, Ace wasn't to knowledgeable on eggs and the like, so as far as knowing what Pokemon was going to be hatched from that egg, his guess was as good as a blind mans. "Do you happen to know what will hatch from that egg?" Ace asked, arching a brow to show curiosity. Even if it was worth stealing, he doubted he'd do so, not this early into the journey, he had to stick close to his mission, and that didn't include petty thievery from a beginner trainer. At this point the question was merely a means to a conversation. He'd also noticed the Sylveon standing to the male's side, along with a Fennekin. It made Ace ponder about Fia, and how she was doing after that odd scenario, as well as that strange Pokemon he'd picked up as well.

For all he knew, he had an uncle named Adolph somewhere he hadn't seen since he was a baby."Those are unique colors for a Roselia and Floette. Kind of like Otohime...."His voice trailed off when he heard Derosa's and Amarantha's brief conversation, and he looked down at his shirt."It's not that creepy, is it?"He remembered that Pokemon weren't his only company, and tensed. Maiku knew he had to be careful, or the wrong people would take advantage of his special talent."Riolu...."His grip tightened on the egg and Furea suddenly became very protective; she even let out an Ember as a warning not to try anything.

Using his best, kindly smile, the male nodded. "Yes, they are rather unique." He mentioned an Otohime, a rather pretty name, he wondered fondly of what Pokemon it could belong to. But then an eye perked when the boy glanced down at his shirt and stated something about it not being that creepy. Well, it was sort of, but Ace wasn't about to be so rude. Though, he didn't really have anything to say so he stayed quiet, until his question was answered. "Riolu, huh?" Come to think of it, the egg did give off a Riolu/Lucario vibe. Well, it was nothing he'd be interested in. "I see, well, I hope it hatches healthy." Stepping back a bit, the male glanced into the forest. There really wasn't anything to add to this conversation, he'd gotten all he needed from the boy... all he wanted to know was what was in the egg, and it was nothing he'd care for. "Well, If you'd not mind some company we could head forward? Unless you'd care to linger here for longer...." Motioning towards path ahead, Ace then remembered he'd have to get a Pokemon Center sooner rather then later, he was curious as to Fia's condition along with the strange Pokemon he'd picked up, despite his distaste for public healthcare facilities, Nurse Joy did know her stuff about nearly all the Pokemon out there, specifically Kalos native Pokemon, which was okay with Fia, but as far as the odd lizard-like one went, that was another question entirely. It still bothered Ace that he felt he recognized the creature but it just wouldn't come to mind.

This certainly was rather awkward. He hadn't expected conversations to be this.... one-sided. Even still, the male seemed to accept his company, so perhaps it was time for Ace to implore his charm onto the boy, and perhaps get him to open up a bit more. "Well then, shall we?" Ace motioned with a smile. "So, Maiku, it appears you choose a Fennekin, much like I did." He began, starting to walk slowly towards the direction they'd be heading. "She's a fine beauty, much like my Fia." Folding his arms loosely over his chest, the male kept his gaze between Maiku and the path ahead. "Question, How well do you know these woods?" It'd suddenly accrued to Ace that despite it being... just another forest, it was still foreign to him.

Well, I'll be in the forest until Ace gets his Big Mushroom. He'd certainly be interested in a Chifeara since it's a fairy and dragon-type. :3 Though, I suppose he wouldn't know that, even still, it's a name of a Pokemon he's not familiar with.
Also, a warning of sorts.. I work during the week, overnights.. so I might be rather... slow at replying. If ever you don't feel like waiting, go right ahead and move on without me. :3

The Fennekin, Furea as it were, seemed to enjoy Ace's compliment. His charm was good for nothing only charming woman, but female Pokemon as well. It seemed Maiku had his own opinion on the fire-type beauty. Though upon being asked about his own Fennekin, the male hesitated, for but a second before lowering a hand to his belt, resting it over Fia's ball. "She's a little bit of a princess, but I'm used to that with Derosa here. Of course, all Pokemon should be treated like royalty, so I happily oblige." Flashing a smile to Furea, he winking at the vixen. "Wouldn't you agree, my darling beauty?"
Folding his arms once more, Ace returned his gaze to Maiku. "Well, you see, I'm not from around these parts, and though where I come from there is a large forest that covers nearly three quarters of the region, I've never really spent much time in woods, so... I'm afraid I must admit, I'm a bit directionally challenged here, on both fronts." Shrugging a bit, the male adjusted his weight to better balance himself with Derosa on his shoulder. "I should maybe also mention... Fia, my Fennekin, doesn't appear to like Pokeballs, but..... Something strange happened and I'd like to get through these woods fairly quickly so I may reach a Pokemon Center." As far as Ace felt, he'd imagined that entire dragon ordeal, along with that old man.. however, if he'd simply check his bag he'd note there was still indeed a capture Deino occupying it.

If I had to stay cooped up in a room sitting on my butt all day, I'd go insane.""...I think the Pokémon who want to be treated like royalty should be the only ones who are. Arching a brow, Ace released a light chuckle. "Oh, is that so? My apologies than." It seems Maiku was very well in-tune with his Pokemon, for only just starting their journey together. Perhaps this was just in some trainers, but Ace was still rather oblivious to the wants and needs of his own Fennekin. Whatever the case, he didn't honestly care one way or another. "Even still, haven't you ever heard of Xena, the warrior princess? Albeit a fictitious story, it still put out the idea that Princess don't always need to be prim and proper, nor stuck in a castle or the like."'Unlike our own 'warrior' princess...'
Ace's expression turned sour for a moment when he thought about that so-called princess sitting in the Amarantha castle, the princess often adorned herself in armour from olden times, and toted herself around with a sword, pretending she knew how to use the bladed weapon. Clearing his mind of that tart took little effort however as he remembered he was not alone or in the company of only his Pokemon. "Forgive me, I was just reminded of something that left a sour taste in my mouth." Flashing a smile, the male returned his gaze down to Furea. "So, about what I said earlier... could you help me get through these woods? I must reach a Pokemon Center as soon as possible."

Nodding several times, Ace smiling thoughtfully to himself. "Yes, I suppose there are some responsibilities only a Princess must care for. A bit to high maintenance a life as well, but for my Pokemon, it is all worth it." Glancing up at Maiku the male's yellow, almost cat-like eyes seemed to smile, hiding over the darkness within. "If only we could understand our Pokemon... It would make things so much easier to understand what they're truly feeling." Stepping past Maiku, onto the path ahead, Ace came to stop and rested a hand on a nearby tree. "Well, the person I think of is more then just a creepy or annoying neighbor.. she's more or less an obstacle for my... my family." Holding a hand over his face, the male hid a look of anger behind his hand. 'Now, now, Ace... Calm down... You can't ruin your facade just yet.' Turning back to face Maiku with a returned faux grin, the male took in a deep sigh. "But enough on that, I'm glad to hear you'll aid me. Let us move than."

Some part of Maiku told him to run away before something happened to him or his Pokémon. But, he couldn't. Not only did he say he'd help Adolph through the forest, he also knew running wasn't always best. It could actually provoke people."Alright. I don't think it'll take too long to get through the forest."Maiku slowly came to a stop even as he said that, though, and tilted his head at the discomfort he was suddenly feeling. The sensation in the back of his mind was still there."Why'd you stop?
