"No kidding..." she muttered in awe looking around at the cavern walls as she trotted along. It was an impressive expanse of tunnels to say the least. And besides, with a place like that she could only imagine the types of scrapes she could get into and Out of with this type of set up. She was very impressed. And very thirsty as she grinned seeing the light shinning from the opening of the cave she was approaching. Well, it was more a way to get out of the cave, but it looked promising.

"S'ould be a stream outside t'ere," he told her, seeing the crack she was approaching. "S'ould be safe, too. Not'in' kin get in wit'out wings or bein' as small as us." At least, he hadn't found any other entrances to the little clearing that were big enough for a non-mini to squeeze through. A thought occurred to him and he eyed the smaller mare. There were a few places that he hadn't been able to explore because he was too big to squeeze through the tunnels. Maybe she could tell him what was on the other sides, and if it would be worth widening the caves...
He shook his head abruptly. What was he thinking?! He was NOT going to draw her a map to the very caves he had used as a bolt hole since coming to this land.

Viatyl shook her head as she crouched the slip out of the cavern. "Doubt a winged one would come this far," she looked around at the little enclosed meadow. "One wrong move and they could be stuck in here. Winds aren't a big fan of being stuck..." She grinned wide as she spotted the cool, refreshing stream that seemed to sparkle in welcome at her. "They're a little claustrophobic, which plays out well when you have them cornered, they'll do just about anything for you then."

Well that was the perfect opening if he ever heard one. "W'at's yer game, anyway?" he asked, as casually as he could. He followed her out into the light, ignoring the slight sting as his sides scraped against the opening. That was one of the tighter openings for him. He found a sunny spot and settled in it, still not feeling up to drinking anything else.

"Game?" she began with feigned innocence, but she dropped the act fast enough. This guy might have started off as a mark but he had kinda saved her life. And Shydyl's. She owed hims something. "Long con, short con, depends on the situation. Depends on the target. It's not personal - I need to keep my skills sharp. Today was intended to be a light practice round before...well, things didn't quite play out as planned."

He snorted a bit. "Ah T'oug't somet'in' smelled fishy," he muttered, more to himself than her. But he shook that off easily enough. As she said, it wasn't personal. How many dupes had he talked into a little light gambling only to take off with their life's savings within an hour or so? "So, w'at was th' plan?" he asked. "'Fore the 'walker came and messed it up? Yeh played th' damsel in distress, and the kitten t'ere th' big bad predator?"

Viatyl flashed a half smile before leaning down and drinking deep from the water. When she was done she replied, "That about sums it up." She nuzzled Shydyl, again, just making sure that the cat was alright. "She has a mean roar, usually it's more than enough to get the mark to take me to a safe secluded place. Then I can knock them out and take anything of value they have..." she held up then and offered a shy shrug to suffice for the rest.

He eyed the little mare skeptically, then shook his head slightly. He, more than anyone else, should know that appearances could be deceiving. After all, he played a convincing country bumpkin. The mare might be petite and delicate looking, but... "Yeh must kick a 'eck of a kick," he muttered. "S'ould ah assume ah'm not a mark anymore? Cuz t'at could get awkward if yer still meanin' ta rob me."

She eyed him, "Well as much as I like some of those shiny studs you're sporting, it wouldn't much be fair to try and take advantage of you know. Thief's code and all..." She blew at a stray strand of her mane that had fell into her face. "And um, I guess I should really thank you for all that back there. Thanks - for me and for Shydyl. The walker really wasn't part of the plan. I wasn't lying about that either, the walker, I mean. Hadn't seen one before today," she breathed out slowly. "Honestly I could really go the rest of my days quiet happily without ever seeing one again."

Well, at least she was smart enough to be afraid. She realized how close they had come to disaster. "Ah coulda gone meh w'ole life wit'out seein' one," he said, dryly. He hestiated a second then sighed. Ah, might as well get it out of the way. "So the kitten's S'ydyl, Ah'm Paelor, and yeh are?"

He nodded. "Usually a good idea ta git ta know the land afore yeh go makin' enemies. 'Spcially if yeh mean ta stick around for aw'ile. T'at's w'y Ah scoped out t'ese caves. Yeh kin almost always find a 'idey 'ole in caves and rocks and suc' t'at bigger targets kin't follow yeh to. But it doesn't do yeh muc' good if yeh get yerself cornered."

Viatyl paused and regarded the stallion with some pointed interest, "And...what exactly do you know about targets?" She should have been more critical of the fact this fellow had known about such a good hiding place. It was typical for someone who ran the types of games she did to have a backup plan, an escape option.

"Gambler?" she repeated regarding him skeptically. "With a bolt hole like this one might speculate that your...endeavors are not always on the up and up, hmmmm?" She caught Shydyl rolling her eyes and chuckled, "Of course I suppose the same could easily be said for us. Though I'll keep in mind to keep a close eye on you if ever invited to a friendly little game of...well, anything..."
