"Ain't a whole lot of anybody ever went through where I live. Sure as Hell didn't get tourists." Otto admitted conversationally. "It was a dinky town. Had a population of like.. 500? Still don't really get where my parents got their business from." Unless the funeral home had some outstanding reputation out of town. Which it obviously did, somehow. Coupled with the PR his mother spent most of her time doing while on business road trips. "So like.. I don't know nothin' about New Zealand. Where the ******** even is it?"

Otto got raised eyebrows for that one at least. More so because it seemed surprising somehow that he’d come from a small town than not knowing where New Zealand was. “Huh… I honestly would have pegged you as being at least from a small city.” He admitted. “New Zealand is… well, do you know where Australia is?”

Otto blinked. "Nope. Northern Louisiana. Mostly just farms and woods." His sense of clothing style was often reflected as more of a city boy only because he'd always wished he lived in a city. Who'd have thought he came across as urban. "Oh, um. It's on the other side of the world, right?"

That got a laugh out of him. “Yeah… other side of the world. I come from a pretty big city, but we have some beautiful places out there. I’ll have to take you some time, the surfing, the hikes, a lot of beautiful things to do. “Might have to haul your pasty a** out there and show you around. Long as we avoid my old neighborhood I doubt anyone would remember me.”

"I like surfin'." Otto murmured. He wasn't a fantastic swimmer when in rough waters, but at least with surfing he had something to hold onto. He enjoyed swimming with the aid of a flotation device. The pasty a** comment always earned Zac a haughty raise of Otto's brow. He was master of the b***h please glare. "Sounds like a plan." One of the perks of being a hunter; the world travelling. Something he never thought he'd ever care to do. He'd grown up in one little town in the middle of nowhere. Now? He'd been to Japan, Italy and countless other places a small town boy would never have seen otherwise. Not always in the best of circumstances, but nevertheless rewarding.

“What… what was that look?” He laughed. “You trying to tell ME that you are not pasty? Here… here let’s do a comparison.” He put his arm next to Otto’s. “Hmmm yeah… Not quite Pillsbury Dough boy, but by comparison?” He grinned. “Be damn nice to go surfing, though you’re going to run into more ‘moon language’, he winked.”

Otto compared their arms to much disgruntlement. "That ain't fair, okay? We ain't even in the same category." That and Otto's skin freckled with sun exposure, rather than tanning.
"I don't gotta talk to the moon people, do I? Ain't anybody there speak english? I mean, you do, right?"

“Plenty people speak English,” he assured Otto. “You’ll have to get used to our slang, but I bet you’ll have fun with learning that to increase your sass levels.” “Don’t take it too hard though, I’m pretty sure the natives will find you exotic.” He teased, a term normally applied by tourists to the islanders and their tattoos. “Shame surf here would be uh… baiting the monsters I guess.”

"Exotic?" He raised a brow incredulously. "Thought I was a pasty a** tourist?" Throwing words back at him, he shrugged. He knew what Zac meant, but he felt the need to be sassy and difficult. Always difficult.
"Yeah. Even swimmin' the shallows are risky."

“Is that from personal experience? Or did you see someone else become, what do you call it….” He waved a hand. “Hentai bait.” He crinkled his nose remembering some of the tattoos people had wanted involving tentacles. He pegged that kind of design right ‘up’ there with private-part tattoos. Funny when drunk but not such a great idea when sober, at least he hoped they didn’t think they were still a great idea when they were sober. "Also...exotically pasty." He nodded sagely.

"Hentai...." Otto's brows furrowed. It took him a moment to realize what he was talking about. "Ugh! Oh God." He cringed and shuddered. "Dude, I hope not. Anyway, naw. But like.. You can usually see'em off in the distance. Usually get warned not to spend too long on the beach." Otto snorted. "Pasty ain't exotic." Otto of course considered any nationality not American to be 'exotic'.

“You sure? There are a lot more skin colors that aren’t ‘pasty’” he grinned. “Maybe it’s just not exotic to YOU” he said pointing a finger at you. “Come down to the root of a thing, exotic, kind of summarizes, unfamiliar.” He mused. “Like this island, in a way…. It’s pretty ******** exotic, so are the monsters, but its like a snake, it might be poison it might not. Frankly I think its kind of like Oz, where every damn thing out there wants to kill you.” He grinned.

"M'not pasty.." He mumbled defiantly, tweaking the hair hanging in front of his face. He gave a shrug at his logical breakdown of the word. "Everything and every one, sometimes." He added. Some of the people on the island were less than trustworthy. It was a stressful place to live.

Zac tipped his head slightly at those words, special note paid to ‘everyone’. “Something I should know?” He asked quietly. “Or does this tie back to where we started?” He added cautiously, not wanting to push. “Or is this more like the fact that I live down the hall from where someone was apparently killed.”

"Someone got killed near your place?" Maybe Otto was just forgetting something, which chilled him. Why would he be forgetting deaths within his home? "Just... these people. There's a dude I saw try and kill people. There's dudes who talk so easily about offin' people like it were choosin' dinner. I caught myself feelin' the same now and then. It's this place.." He held his own arms protectively. "It does funny things to you."
