"You are a bad human." A dagger of yellow bone appeared in her hand and then she was spinning to attack. As she did so the flower began to sing with a chilling trill.

HP: 50
Auto Damage: 3
Special: if Oliver misses and attack, not only does he get auto damage, but she attacks one of the wounded as well unless he chooses to take that damage himself (making the damage to him that turn 6) ~ each wounded hunter only needs to be hit once and they will die.

Griz was dazed for a moment and then began choking and hacking until he began to violently throw up a long stream of beetles. On the ground, Garret was revealed, marked all over in tiny bites and barely breathing.

Oliver yelped and summoned his weapon, but the dagger-wielding horsewoman was faster. The bone dagger zipped towards his body faster than he could put the axe in it's way. The blade dug into his arm instead.

"Ow, stop!" He yelped, as though reasoning with her would have any effect, and then brought his axe down in a slash that was almost entirely sidestepped. With the faded, billowing robes, the only sign it had hit at all was that slight resistance to his swing.

She darted in for another attack, but the blade was small, and Oliver was now flooded with adrenaline and terror, he barely felt it at all. His swing had started the instant the last one had ended, bring it up over his head in a circular loop that the Famine horsewoman could not avoid. When he brought it down, he felt it cut.

The impact of his axe striking the ground sent sand gusting back towards her.

She was fast, darting in and out of Oliver's swinging range with the ease of a rabbit. Where he slipped and slid in the sand, she seemed to take it's shifting for granted. Yet he had practiced with the axe's slow weight and heavy swings, and his timing was right on.

He gritted his teeth to take the dagger blow, and swung the axe sideways just as she tried to twirl out of his range.

It seemed his opponent was becoming wise to the threat his large weapon posed, as clumsy as it's wielder might have been.

Oliver yelped as she brandished her dagger, her focus not at him but the hunters he had stayed behind to protect. The boy lunged to intercept her, feeling the dagger cut deep into his ribs. "I said no!" he shouted, putting himself firmly between the horsewoman and his patients.

The horsewoman lunged again, just as Oliver's weapon swung low to strike the top of a small sand dune collecting around a withered twig of a plant. It exploded and sent a column of sand gusting towards her, and the attack only grazed him.

He glanced over his shoulder as the Famine horsewoman recouped, but the injured were still safe. Oliver had no idea how he was going to keep them that way, adrenaline could only keep so much of his fear at bay. He had never faced a more terrifying situation, not just fighting for his life, but the lives of two others with him.

As the horsewoman tried to dance around him, surely another attempt on the lives of his patients, Oliver only had time to get between them once again. Her swing caught him straight across the face, and suddenly there was blood running from above his eyebrow all the way to his opposite cheek.

He tried to bodily shove her back from the two injured hunters, using his slightly larger mass to his advantage.

Oliver pressed the attack away from his charges, feeling more and more desperate with each swing of his axe. She meant to kill him, and both the hunters too if she couldn't take them back.

He felt the little dagger whirling past and cutting into his shoulder, the best he could do was clip her with the axe on the way through.

Oliver swung his axe and missed. He was starting to panic, at this rate she really would kill him. This fast horsewoman with the dagger would kill him long before Finn and the others got back out, and he wanted to run away more than anything... But he couldn't, that was the one thing he wasn't allowed to do, run away and leave the injured pair to the Famine clan.

Instead of stepping back and fleeing like his entire body screamed at him to do, Oliver once again got in the way of her attack.

Oliver felt tears at the corners of his eye, he was surely going to die. He was so terrified, if the horsewoman didn't kill him his own frantic heart would probably give out.

Then there was a soft rumbling in the back of his mind, nudging him out of his panic, and reminding him he wasn't the only one fighting this battle.

As the horsewoman lunged towards him again, the frightened, bleeding boy levelled the tip of the weapon at her. There was a mechanical click, and then suddenly she was blasted by a beam of ice-cold energy. Behind her, a dune of sand levelled itself in a cloud of airborne particulates.

The sand shifted under his feet, and the recoil was strong enough to knock Oliver onto his butt.

The blast was enough to give the horsewoman pause, giving Oliver the time he needed to scramble to his feet. But she must have known his weapon couldn't repeat the attack.

She danced towards him, boldly dodging his axe and slicing him once again with the small bone dagger. Oliver gave her a tired shove backwards, which put her in the path of his axe for another blow.

His swing was weak, clumsy, but despite his fear and exhaustion, it was an attempt.

The horsewoman lunged in for a stab, and then Oliver felt his shield break. It was as jarring as ever, and this time accompanied by a painful hopelessness. Jökul couldn't protect him anymore, he was too tired to keep it up for much longer.

No matter how fast she was, Oliver was supposed to keep an eye on the hunters. There was simply no alternative. He didn't think in terms of 'bravery' at that point, only that standing his ground was his only possible action. Wasn't that what he had been staying alive for all this time, so he could trade his useless life for someone else's?

Despite his weapon's return to totem form, the boy kept himself firmly (maybe not so firmly) planted between the horsewoman and the injured hunters.

All of these images were going to be embedded in Finn's head forever. Forever. He couldn't help but glance back towards Griz when he heard the man begin to cough and choke, but once he rolled over only for a stream of beetles to come pouring out of his mouth, Finn'd had enough. "Watch him." He said to Daisy, "When he's finished, help get him to his feet. We need to haul a** out of here." Back to Oliver, who he was regretting leaving behind but knew that having him in here likely would have been worse.

Attention was turned back to Garret, who was no longer swarmed and covered from head to toe with beetles, but also wasn't looking great. Finn could tell even without touching him that his breathing was shallow, labored, and he couldn't help but wonder if there were beetles in his lungs as well.

There was no way Finn was giving this guy mouth to mouth. No <********> way.

Finn's own breathing was feeling a bit weak, and he knew that if he wasn't careful, he was going to pass out. A few deep breaths were taken, before bandages were taken out of his pockets and applied to whichever bite marks were visible.

"I don't know if you can hear me, a*****e, but we need to get out of here, and I would appreciate it if you could just hold on and not ******** die." He muttered, working to sit Garret up, gently, assessing, not entirely sure if he was safe to move but not seeing much more choice. They had to move fast. Finn did not want to be swarmed again.

As soon as they were able, they were all taking Finn's advice and hauling a** back down the tunnels.

Well, to the best of their current capabilities, at least.

The attack is brutal and worse, playful. Oliver was going to die and it was this moment of desperate determination in face of terrible hopelessness that pushed both him and his weapon past the bring of their limitations.

As the safer came down for the kill, Oliver found himself once more with weapon in hand, its runes glowing brilliantly. They were both going to pay for this later, but for now later meant surviving first.

Select Oliver's y3 attack and use it. Should it miss continue the fight using his next stage dice.

It seemed the rumble in the back of his mind wasn't ready to give up yet.

Oliver did what his weapon bid, and one more time raised the axe. It was so heavy, unbearably so, but as the horsewoman darted towards her weakened prey he let loose one more fierce beam of cold energy, stronger than the first. He saw it hit the Famine creature dead on before he was knocked flat on his back from the recoil.

Not sure if I apply the auto damage on this one, but if so we can assume he's out cold. XD
