Troll: Keionx Rutace Partner: Vremea Everai Keionx was pleased that Vremea seemed to be getting the hang of things. She thought about her 'schedule', such as it was. Really, it was just a list of what she needed to build. Things did not get done in a day, she had learned to her dismay, and even when it was their hive – or their new hive – her fellow trolls did not often pitch in. Which was fine: she was a hero and could do things on her own. It did mean, though, that her housing idea was taking a lot longer than she had hoped, and she still wanted to build Ephias a stair up the canyon (with a safety rail) and a sheltered building he could use as an observatory or something...
Then again, if Vremea worked in the early evening... then maybe... ”I shalt endeavor to enter the library, that place of silence and learning, and read a book.” she declared, ”The day after I returnst from this city? Wilt thou then be there?” she asked, watching Vremea fix her hair, almost longingly. Vremea had really nice hair, too. Keionx's... was kept short. She liked it short. But... still... ”And then, we shall leave together and...” her voice lowered, ”Dress up?”
Her nervous excitement saw her stumble and, briefly, she panicked, hoping that Vremea could make up for her little failing... or at least keep her from falling to the ground... Current point total: 65+1

Keionx seemed awfully excited about the whole ordeal. Had she never dressed up with another person before...? Just the thought of that was sad to Vremea. "That would be splendid, Keionx. We could put on make up, and I could show you how to put on the clips I have in my hair!" She smiled at the orangeblood, having noticed her expression as she watched her tuck her own hair back. "I could recommend some books to you about knights and princesses. It'd be extremely exciting!" She said, before watching Keionx stumble-- and catching her, just like she did to her a few minutes ago. With a quick heel turn, Vremea managed to make the fall look like a small misstep, stopping for a moment before continuing with their dance. This was so much fun! current points total: 65 + 1 + 4(normal) +3(writing)= 73 points!

Troll: Nervit Lafute Partner: Skaeys Fallin
Nervit shook her head in response. "It's fine, it's the trying that's important - and you're doing great this time!" It was true, the pair were gliding across the floor - not perfectly perhaps, but pretty darn close as they danced in tune with the slower, softer music, occasionally broken by the thump as another troll tripped and fell - it looks like they weren't the only ones struggling, after all.

"Great!" Reg - uh, the mysterious stranger gave a wide grin, indicating she was pleased as punch by the reply. Grabbing the little troll girl by a hand, she whirled her new partner onto the dance floor in an explosion of energy, poncho flapping. "Can you cut a rug, redblood? Try and keep up!" Picking the younger troll up, she gave her a twirl then set her back down, shoving them to the centre of the dance floor. Total: 20 (14 + 6)

There she went - just a small smile, no words to accompany it. What? She wasn't playing his game any more. Was she just... Giving up? It was no fair. He was trying so hard! How dare she? He wanted to win, but not like this!
Aandes had slowed to a slow step-touch. He didn't really have a plan of action if Rasali didn't reciprocate, and he only now realized it. He'd touched something that was deep inside of her -- something that didn't fire her up, but made her sluggish and sad. Gross. Pathetic. He didn't pity her at all.
He was rather at a loss, and quietly (he hoped solemnly, though his irritation childishly twinkled through in the snappiness of his steps) shuffled with his dance partner. How dare he let her drag him down to her level. They were in sync for a moment, playing their little pity party, and so he decided to funnel his energy into matching her exactly, seething all the way and putting on a dour expression. Maybe he'd make her feel bad by not having any fun.

[ It took Rasali a moment to notice she had slowed down. Aandes had been playing along with her pace so quietly. The other couples were dancing literal circles around them. The sentiment of Aandes silently matching Rasali's mood caused a weird feeling to bubble in Rasali's chest.
Rasali felt indignant. Rasali could practically feel Aandes pouting--or perhaps it was a projection of her own internal pouting at being treated like this by Aandes of all people. Rasali wasn't delicate, and Aandes had never once in their entire miserable friendship ever approached her with the intent of being sympathetic. No, this was mockery; Rasali was sure of it.
Rasali wasn't about to interrupt whatever sorry excuse for pity Aandes was deigning to throw her way. If Aandes wanted to be pathetic she'd let him have at it. She kept her pace steady, but tightened her grip on Aandes' back in silent warning. ]

Odette tried to contain her excited shrieks as the mysterious dancer whisked into the crowd. "I don't know anything about cutting rugs," she explained to her partner midair, "But I do know how to dance!" She did a quick spin and posed into her landing, giving the tiniest smirk. It quickly dissipated with a feeling of embarrassment. Cutting a rug was another term for dancing. Odette's face flushed brightly as she internally smacked her thinkpan.
She quickly transitioned back into dancing, pretending that didn't just happen. Just try to be cool, she thought to herself, follow her lead. She couldn't help but feel nervous, dancing in the center of the room, with such an impressive and dashing partner! Turning to the stranger, she opened her mouth to ask a question but quickly closed it. She took a moment to think more carefully, before turning back to her dance partner.
"You dance fantastically!" Odette complimented with an honest smile. "Are you self-taught?"

Troll: Skaeys Fallin Partner: Nervit Lafute
Slowly Skae felt that he was getting the hang of the entire 'dancing' thing. He just had to keep in time to the beat, follow the moves of his partner, and try not to think too hard about what his feet were doing. It was simple!
Why did he feel as if Taldad wasn't paying a single lick of attention to his glaring failure? He couldn't just look around for the corvus, it would be obvious that he was just a wee wiggler looking for comfort from his parental figure. He resisted the urge to pout at his own thoughts.
"I think I'm starting to get the hang of this." He murmured, eyes not quite meeting Nervit's own.

Aandes huffed and blinked a few times. His competitive drive was nearly killed by Rasali's despondence. With a step back and forward he jarred her into a waltz, spurred by the firm pressure on his back. He was quiet now, looking around the dance floor at the other contestants. An elegant looking redblood was dancing with a figure he'd never seen before -- meanwhile, the other lowbloods had already gotten well into their dances. Maybe he could spend this time doing some eavesdropping while his partner was occupied.
Aandes lead towards the rest of the group, still giving Rasali eyecontact. He shifted his gaze to something more gauzy and hopeful, but he still lacked the energy he normally possessed. But, looking at her face was helping. It was so small and round and soft and terrible.

[ Rasali could feel Aandes' interest waning. As much as it pissed her off, she couldn't really blame him. They weren't exactly dancing well. Even that weirdo in the poncho was busting some serious moves. By comparison Rasali and Aandes were just swaying in rhythm. Hell, Rasali probably could have been standing on Aandes' feet at that point. (Stepping on him was starting to sound more attractive as the night went on, actually...) They needed to step up their game. Losing was one thing, but not trying was unacceptable.
"What... do you say our odds are for this competition?" Rasali asked conspiratorially. The two of them might not have gotten along, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of common interests as far as competition was concerned. ]

At some point words failed to describe how delighted Keionx was by the future ahead. Vremea was suggesting such wonderful things. Not particularly knightly, but... splendid.
”Indeed!” she agreed, hoping that Beastdad hadn't seen her stumble... though, if he had, she hoped he would see her recover, ”Then we shall.” she was incredibly excited.

Her poncho'ed partner paused for a moment on the floor, wondering how to respond to that. "Who else would teach me, my lusus?" Now that was a mental image worth savouring. Gl, emerging from the depths of the ocean, sending trolls screaming in terror, crashing onto the beach and crushing all nearby life, to stare down at her tiny charge and hiss "one two three, two two three, and step, and step, and pivot..." A loud and abrupt snort of laughter made her let go of her partner for a moment, before remembering that they were supposed to be dancing. Focus! "Uh, no redblood, I'm self taught. Hehh. And how about you?" The compliment had worked it's magic, and she was willing now to listen to this lowblood's chatter, however inane it might be.

Troll: Nervit Lafute Partner: Skaeys Fallin
Nervit nodded encouragingly as they continued to dance across the floor, as the pair of them were doing much better now. No more falling and they were even managing to move to the beat! The music was starting to speed up again though, so hopefully that wouldn't trip them up again! The slower songs were easier to dance though, Nervit thought, as they required less fiddly quick movments. But hey, you win some you lose some.

Odette listened intently to her partner's words. It was hard to hear over the music and the chatter around them. Perhaps she should have been paying more attention to the music, because she found herself misstepping in time and had terrible trouble finding the beat back. "Me?" Odette said, "Well... my lusus taught me." Turning away, Odette bit her lip as a sad pain caught in her protein chute. Don't cry, she told herself, she'd be proud of you dancing tonight. Dancing, stepping out of her comfort zone, and most importantly, having fun. Swanmom would have been beside herself with joy if she had been watching.
"Do you enjoy it?" Odette asked, quickly correcting with "Dancing, that is." Odette corrected her feet as she waited for a response, careful not to tread on her partner's toes.

Troll: Skaeys Fallin Partner: Nervit Lafute
Skae was a bit surprised when the music's pace changed from the nice, easy to follow rhythm to something a little faster. His first warning had been how Nervit's movements had started to change, so his moves didn't suffer too badly. At least he didn't end up falling on his nose or tripping. A slight stumble was all he did, and that could be passed off as something else. "So, um." He started, eyes darting around a bit to look at the other dancing couples, "What made you join the contest?"
