The night proceeded as she assumed it would, many females swarmed her in beautiful dresses. Each one had a charm of their own but their quick way of speaking was far to terrifying to match. Alexandria found herself listening more than speaking but it didn't take long until she was forced to speak. She was asked about her accessorizing habits and how she usually dresses. "I actually prefer to keep my hair up, I cannot stand it at this length...and I prefer to wear my apron but the stylists spoke against it." The girls looked at her for a few moments before laughing, they had absolutely no idea what kind of joke Alexandria was telling but they commented a lot about her sounding a lot like a pet. "But...I am a pe-" It was then that she felt a warm hand grace the back of her waist and she was taken into dance with Ceil.

She looked up to him, her soft blue eyes following his as he danced with her. It was a careful waltz and she followed him as he led her. "You seem uncomfortable, aren't these your friends?" She wanted to ask him why she was even here, why she was his date, but his attitude towards everything and the wine on his breath was making her question why he seemed so stressed. She took one of his hands into her own and rose her other to lightly touch his cheek as they swayed. "You mustn't be so tense...Ceil..." There went his name again, it was so difficult to simply call him by his name.

"If you do not like these people then...pretend we are the only ones here, and I will keep you calm." Her voice was toned down of course so no one could hear their obvious banter...

Alexandria found herself having a lot of fun. His body against her own was enough to make her own false feelings fall like rain in her imagination. His smile calmed her but he didn't speak, was she annoying him? He did pull her closer though and that made her blush furiously. It wasn't often that she be close to anyone, especially someone as handsome as her master... He truly did look dashing this evening, underneath the suit was no doubt the most attractive male she had ever met and she would gladly tell him, if he wasn't who he was...far above her.

After the dance everyone retreated to their group to talk and a few of the hardcore partygoers kept dancing. Alexandria felt lost and alone and with emotionless eyes she watched as Ceil exited to the balcony. She stood there in the ballroom surrounded by groups of people talking and dancing and having such fun. She must have annoyed him with how much she wasn't like them...she was nothing like them and could never be fancy. She was no princess or even someone worth being called a mistress. She was a pet and no one could change that.

"Excuse me miss..."

A deep male voice called to her and she turned to see a dashing older male and he bowed to her. "It looks a lot like you're date is occupied, would you give me this dance?" He said with a charming smile that no doubt had deceit on his mind. She shook her head and turned to the balcony again. "No thank you...when one is invited to be someone's date, they do not dance with others." With that cold retort she glided slowly towards the double doors to find herself on the balcony. She took a few steps forward and found her way to the rail before she looked out to the garden with him. “Come, gentle night; come, loving, black-browed night; give me my Romeo; and, when I shall die, take him and cut him out in little stars, and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night...” She closed her eyes with him and for a moment she felt as if they were connected... two unlikely souls brought together on their march towards the end of their mortal coil.

"Had I known I would be left alone with those strange people all night, I would have refused your invitation..." She teased softly as the wind carried through her hair and furled her dress around her slender body with ease.

She found herself standing there with him for minutes on end. The soft sound of nature surrounding them while the echoes of the party fell only slightly to caress their field of sound. She felt at ease, she felt at peace. When their silence broke she laughed softly before looking out at the garden again. "I think that's the first time you've ever referred to me or anyone as anything but a person. I don't think you've ever called me a worker..." She blushed softly and looked to her hands as they were drawn to her waist. This was such a tender moment...it felt as if the tense atmosphere could be cut with a knife...

"Ceil, why are you so nice to me? Really? You've given me so much and I know you see me as more than a pet but...you asked me to be your date, you've danced with me...am I safe to assume this is more than human kindness?"

Her eyes were still wide as she looked down to the floor immediately when he retreated. One doesn't just do that and leave... Her confusion and awkward feelings made her the very definition of vulnerable right now. But she turned to watch him walk away nonetheless. He says he cares not for the royal life, but seeing him from the balcony, giving his toast and speaking with such fluid care to the people. He seemed to have an innate gift for drawing people together and making them like him, maybe there is much more to being royalty than he could despise.

She felt herself clapping when everyone else did and she smiled. Did that man...like her? Did he...love her? She looked to the moon as it showed itself through the sky above her and thought of the duchess. The women who thought she could never be more than a servant and rose her to be one... Had Alex finally proven her wrong, it didn't take too much effort... She looked to him one last time as if finally leaving the duchess behind in her mind and raced inside to be at his side!

She would be more than a pet now right? She would finally have someone to give love too beyond work...she would still clean and do her best, but she would do it for many other reasons! She couldn't be happier...but then her movements froze. She looked upon a dazzling woman who had her arms wrapped dazzlingly around Ceil. When they broke apart his cheeks were radiating in a blush and she seemed far to happy about it... This was why he kept leaving her throughout the party isn't it? He wanted to meet with this woman when he could right? Perhaps this was meant to be a lesson...Alexandria was no princess, she was no queen like this girl must have been... She was nothing worth loving and this was proof of it, in such a vulnerable state of mind her so called 'love' was shattered like glass and raining on her self esteem. She looked up to him with a look of fear, unbelief in his power over her and sadness that he had the heart to let her learn something so horrid.

She stood before the couple with her eyes to the ground, unable to say anything...

She obviously had no idea what she was talking about. Why was she assuming that Alexandria and Ceil were ever going to be anything, much less a couple. Sure she felt a bit better after being reassured that the old woman met nothing but that didn't stop her from feeling wrong. She was obviously not thinking straight before. Her job in life is to make her master happy, she is no girlfriend material, she is nothing good to have around beyond that.

She did leave the party to find him, but not as Alexandria the person. She came to him as Alexandria the pet... She looked away from him after realizing he had undone a bit of his shirt. She knew damn well that if she looked she would blush, that was not something she needed. "Would you like me to dispel the guests master? You seem perturbed..." Her tone was somewhat cold but it was fit for a servant. She wasn't worth his emotions, therefor she wouldn't trouble him with her own.

Alexandria closed her eyes, almost far too thankful when he pulled her close. His emotion was deep in his sigh, palpable in nature and beautiful and his words were enough to quell her rage. This was not like the closeness that woman experienced, this was something real...something mutual between the two that even Alexandria could feel. She looked up to him, her eye's very serious before leaning forward to hug him again, her own arms wrapping around his waist as she buried her face into his chest. "Do not thank me...it's my job after all." She looked up to him, her soft eye's reaching his. "I shall stand by your side for as long as you allow me..." Eventually the roar of the party began to dull and she broke the hug to look away.

"Perhaps you should return...unless you really are unwell?"

Alexandria watched with soft eye's as he straightened himself and stood tall once more in confidence. That was what she wanted. He took her hand and took her into the party, almost as if he was finally proud of her, but she knew deep down that he always was. She took her place at his side in the receiving line as the people left. The females that had crowded her earlier reminded her to keep in touch with them and the beautiful female from earlier also gave the small maid a very awkward glance. She seemed angry but Alex couldn't help but count it as jealousy. It was Alex who stood by Ceil's side on this night, not her... When they were finally gone her eye's grew slightly wide once the pressure of her master against her shoulder made itself precedent.

Her eye's softened as she released a sigh softer. Her hand rose to touch his cheek and pat his head softly as he lay almost snuggled against her shoulder and the crook of her neck. "You're welcome Master, like I said, it is my job...now we must go to our bedrooms so I can rid myself of this frivolous gown..." She knew damn well she wouldn't be ridding herself of this dress...it was beautiful after all. But it wasn't for her, it was for someone much more beautiful than she was, if anything it would be used as a novelty of tonight and nothing more.

She couldn't particularly care for the alcohol on his tongue when he kissed her but she didn't turn him down, the proof in his kiss wasn't strong enough to completely turn her away from him. She nodded a few of the other workers still available to help him. Once he was gone she looked down to the ground to see her tiddling her fingers. "He's so strange..." The man shouldn't invite people he cant stand if he plans to get so sloppy.

She is also taken back to her room and stripped from her dress. She donned a new bedding gown before departing into her own dreamland...

The next morning her master would awaken, with a small folded towel across his forehead. The same beautiful blond he had kissed and held throughout the night was sitting beside his bed, making sure he would get through his hangover with ease. She even took it upon herself to fashion a bloody mary for him. She was wearing one of her old maids dresses and had her pigtails tightly fashioned with the drink on his bedside table. "Good morning Master, did you sleep well?"
