Claude gave something of a whistle at that answer, and then rolled her eyes to the ceiling. "I'll be honest. I couldn't imagine being here for five years. I've only been around a few months and it's insane." She moved to the side a bit as Jack moved to sit in his chair, and instead took to leaning nearby on the desk, peering down at him now.

"So I've been told." About the high turn over rate. She wasn't sure how to feel about that yet, especially considering her less than stellar hit rate at the moment. "Heh. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the advice." There was a pause, and she decided she definitely liked talking to him, and would continue to pick his brain.

"What do you do for entertainment around here?"

Claude didn't know the meaning of insane just yet.

"Depends on what you think is entertaining," Jack replied as he pulled out a file and started to separate its contents out into a discernible order. "There's a bar here, The Red Bull, for down time, or you can use your leave every month. Some prefer to spar. I prefer reading, studying, playing the guitar, bothering people on Twitter...Actually, just bothering people period," he amended with a little grin. "It pays to have connections, and as a Lifer? I have something of a network going."

A brow rose slightly at the mention of a bar, but then she decided that she shouldn't be too surprised. Instead Claude nodded a bit as he listed off different things. He liked using Twitter too, huh? She hadn't made it onto that yet, and she wasn't sure she wanted to, to be honest. It was worse enough she had to keep running into everyone on an almost daily, why would she want to see and talk to them on the internet too?

"I see...for favors I take it?"

"Naturally." He glanced up at Claude. "Or is that an offer?"

"It's curiosity." Claude replied with a smirk. "But I don't think it'd hurt, either." To offer, that is. Jack seemed way more than competent, and he didn't grate on her nerves within five minutes, like some people (Cee), so it was a good sign. It was a good sign this could be someone to...be able to go to.

Pleased, Jack opened a different drawer, pulled out a clipboard, and flipped the empty mission report over. "If that's the case, use your fancy new pen and list your skills for me," he said as he offered it. "As well as your full name, known familial relations at Deus in case of emergency, room number, and other miscellaneous information I should know about you. You will fill this out somewhere else, of course; I have work to do and no time to wait on you."

He made a shooing motion, smiling like a cat. "You know how to contact me by now."

Wait a minute.

Claude was now wondering what she had exactly agreed to as she stared at the offered clipboard and then stared at Jack. The look on her face very much are you for real? Regardless, she took the clipboard, and it seemed she was being dismissed. The trainee pushed herself off of his desk, and then tapped her new pen on top of his head like he had done to her when he first approached.

"That I do." She said in parting, before she left.

Won't Stop

A few days after meeting in person, Jack's desk was once again 'under attack'. There was another large armada of paper boats on his desk, along with a small note:

My application is here.

Here meaning...one of the paper boats.

In the process of unfolding the boats to find the paper Claude had filled out, she had left him his own 'application' to complete.

The top of the paper read:

It's only fair.

It then went on to list the 'needed' info.

  • Your skills in terms of piracy
  • Your preferred title
  • People to contact in case you need a babysitter
  • Your room number
  • On a scale of 1 - 10, how would you rate yourself in terms of being attractive?
  • If you had a ship, what would you name it?
  • How likely are you to cause a mutiny?
  • Anything else you think I should know and maybe I'll read it

Well, someone was just having fun now.

Won't Stop

He actually let out a peal of laughter when he saw the paper boats again that day—yet again becoming he quirky highlight of an otherwise boring day. Rather than toss the armada in the trash, Jack plucked each of the boats up and stashed them away to bring back later. For what purpose, he had yet to divine, but he had no doubt one day he'd find some use for them. Maybe to highlight someone else's day.

Claude's form was filled and left under her room door; naturally he had taken the time to look her up since their meeting. It was even done in green ink for fun.

  • Your skills in terms of piracy
You will need to dictate to me what scope of piracy you mean, as Deus is an army and does not often employ piracy as a necessary skill. I am, however, adapt at drinking and lying if it suits me, and I do have a code I adhere to.

  • Your preferred title
Your Highness, though I will also take Captain Jack or simply Hawthorn.

  • People to contact in case you need a babysitter
Abbi Killian, Ian Rahal-Nazari-Parish (yes that's his ******** name), Shiloh Parish (blame this a*****e), Finn Connor, Ripley Crowell, Chelsea Craft (He had paused adding the last one, then decided that for the sake of numbers and in case someone was busy, it was best to have more; not to mention it was a small show of how many connections he had.)

  • Your room number
Disclosing this seems like inviting trouble. Let's keep the shenanigans away from my room.

  • On a scale of 1 - 10, how would you rate yourself in terms of being attractive?
More attractive than can be measured on any scale, let alone one so miniscule.

  • If you had a ship, what would you name it?
Not sure but The Harlot Queen sounds good right now. I'd call her my personal HQ.

  • How likely are you to cause a mutiny?
Low chance as long as the command knows what it's doing and order is kept.

  • Anything else you think I should know and maybe I'll read it
You can start on coffee delivery duty starting Monday. I like hazelnut without sugar or cream.

Won't Stop

This list Jack asked of her still made her eyes roll, but hey, it wasn't like she was telling him things he couldn't find out if he didn't look hard enough.

  • Skills: Piracy, volleyball, remaining calm under pressure
  • Name: Claude Morgan
  • Familial Relations: Lex Jamil / brother
  • Room #167
  • Misc: My favorite color is red

She probably kept that list short just to be a pain...plus she didn't use her full name...Yeah, definitely just being a pain.

The return list she had gotten though, also made her laugh, and she almost regretted not putting forth more creative energy into hers. Almost. She did have to leave a note for him on his desk though.

I said I'd be a connection, not your errand b***h. Go get your own coffee.
