Melvin looked at Al and then at his soup. "Y.Yeah. It' is. You should try it sometime." He said, looking out at the window quickly to avoid what might be asked. He took another bite of his soup.

Melvin already knew. Al did not care if he knew and avoided it - he still asked, "can I try some?" He gestured at his own spoon and then the chowder.

Melvin looked at him and the offending spoon. "Um....it's not good to eat after me." He said, tense and worried now. It was one thing for Melivn to avoid touching other people's food, but it was a different problem with them touching his food. It wasn't safe for either of them.

"What?" Al asked and it was clear the gears in his head were turning full tilt as he tried to figure out his exact reason. "Do you have mono?" He took a stab in the dark.

"No, just....it's not good for you. If you want your own bowl,that's fine. Just.....you should eat after me." He said, really not wanting to go deeper than that in an explanation. He didn't want to tell Al that his worries stemmed from him getting Al sick because anyone who ate after him was eating after someone who might be slightly diseased and while hunter immunity took care of most colds, he didn't want to risk it. He didn't want to tell Al that he also disliked anyone touching his food because he didn't like what they had, and that his brain would then outright refuse to let him eat the chowder he wanted.

"Whatever man, if you're buyin' some for me to try I'm good," he decided not to push and resumed against his lobster, meticulously dismantling and consuming the creature. A task he got better at the more he did, which was good, he didn't want to hit more crunchy s**t. In no time it was all eaten (except for the gross not-meat-looking parts) and he was licking a little excess juice from one of his hands. He was then looking hopeful to try a smidgen of chowder.
But the waitress would not be back for a bit... he eyed the cheese bread curiously.

Melvin was glad that Al did not press the issue. Ordering a small bowl of soup was no big deal for him, and alleviate the panic and all the baggage that came with someone trying to eat his food.
When Al looked at the basket, Melvin reached over and took off the corner of fabric covering it. A plum of steam rose from the flakey biscuits, dotted with orange cheese cooked inside and on top and little flecks of parsley.
"Try one. They're very good." He said, and took one for himself to tear apart.

Al stared at the unveiled bread as if he was just flashed by a beautiful woman. He did not need to be told twice and gladly seized the opportunity to take one and begin tearing it apart.
It was then the waitress approached to check their drinks and meal. Al instinctively looked to Melvin to request the addition to their tab.
