I was wondering if someone with an old account would still get in trouble if they made their account when they were under 13, but they are now well over 13 (like an adult)? If you were under 13 when you made your account, but are 13 now, you can keep your account. You won't get into trouble.

June 14th, 2016: Zero Omega Nenanah Misc I've asked in the past about the gray area surrounding the onsite advertising rule in the aquarium forum. Some people say it's ok to post linked images while others say that it is not, some people have received messages from mods in the past that gives conflicting answers. In this thread it says that all linked images are not allowed however I been told that it's ok if the pictures are small, some are saying that all linked images are not allowed at all... It's really confusing for myself and others. You said that you were going to clear this up but still there hasn't been any revisions or clarification made... When are you going to fix this confusing policy? It's something that we plan to address in the coming months along with a full on revamp of many of the forum rules and guidelines. Zero Omega dissonances Misc.Since I've never really given it any thought before up until fairly recently... What's the policy on 'offensive' usernames? Because I know in the past there have been some pretty... Bad ones that have floated around, and every once in a while I'll stumble across one forum surfing that makes me go '...Is that... An okay username to have?' Given, there's a varying degree of 'offensive', since not everyone is bothered by the same thing. But I know that people are pretty good at ballpark figuring what's 'okay, yeah, that's pretty clever' versus 'wow... how was that even allowed?' We do change usernames that we find to be offensive, we give users a time limit to change their name and if they do not then we change it for them, something like Blue Hot Cat. You can report the profile to report the username and we can take into a look into it.

Not at the moment, right now we're monitoring things based on the reports we get in from users about any potential abuse. How valid are these reports, do they have any merit at all? Well considering that we have issued bans for some of the reports we did receive (not all of them) based on what we consider to be bannable offenses, I'd say that they are very valid. We mentioned that you can file a ticket in our Help Center.

June 28th, 2016: Zero Omega Canicuss RunwayYou may have noticed (or not) there is quite a hullabaloo going on in the Runway Forum over the use (and abuse) of mules. Would it be possible for you to reconsider your position on Mules in the Runway. This feature is loved dearly by a lot of people and they feel cheated out of the opportunity to place when one person takes up sometimes the top 10 spots. I know it would be a nightmare to patrol for Mule use and I think everyone understands that, but sometimes all it takes is a rule in place to curb the problem. Thanks for your consideration. biggrin It's certainly a rule that we have always kept open to reconsidering if need be, and something we're happy to discuss. One interesting thing I want to note is that I do remember reading feedback from users saying that if we allowed mules, then they would be able to enter in all of their mules and "combat" the people who were already using their mules. So one of the reasons we allowed it is because we figured people would be doing that and finding a balance. On a personal note, I don't think it will necessarily "solve" some of the complaints. Some of the complaints that I've seen is people upset that someone wins multiple days in a row. A majority of the winnings we're seeing is people voting for themselves. Even people that are bringing up concerns about cheating are getting a majority of the vote from themselves. So I just want the community to take into consideration that simply not allowing mules may not resolve the concern about people winning multiple times a day. That being said, something we're still looking into and aware of. A rule that we're happy to discuss.

July 6th, 2016: Zero Omega Arowan Features Any updates on how cheating is being handled in Runway? I know staff have mentioned that a lot of the winners seem to be voting for themselves. What, if anything, is being done to combat this? We have ways of investigating the cheating, when we have further updates we'll be banning the users who we believe are cheating.

Additionally, a rule may be necessary on repeat entries of previously-won avatars. Finally, what can be done to reduce the effect of self-voting? No update at the moment, still something we're looking into. At the moment, we're fine with any number of mules being entered, again, so long as they are different avatars and not the same. Could this rule change? Definitely. At the moment it's what we're allowing. Self-voting is something we're still looking at. Zero Omega Arowan Features Another runway question. If entering identical avatars via mules is disallowed, what about Gaians who, after winning a theme once, re-enter it again in the future with the same winning avatar, and then win again? Many within the Runway Forum consider it in very bad taste, but as far as I know there is no rule against it. (See the recent "Favorite Holiday" theme, and how the same 6 avatars have placed in it the last 3 times it has appeared.) We currently have no rule against this. Ideally if someone creates and submits the same avatar over and over the community would see it and not vote for that person. Of course, this isn't ideal because as it stands, voting for yourself is showing to be the deciding factor in Runway placements, and that's something that I feel we should see if we can take a look at and fix.

I've always wondered why if say I buy something from a seller in the MP and that item was not legitmately gotten why do MY trades/account get banned?
Or why would I get in trouble if I sold something legit and some one bought with will ill gotten gold?
Does the innocent party ever get their trades/account unbanned? Your trades get disabled because more often than not we need to reverse the transaction that was conducted. It's a lot easier and less confusing for the users if we disable your trades and prevent you from being able to use the gold/items that you received. For example, if I buy something from you for 1 million gold, it's quicker for us to remove the 1 million gold in your account because we disabled your trades. On the other hand, if we didn't do that and you used the gold to buy six different items, then sell three of those items, then used that gold to buy other items, we'd have to track down all the items and gold that changed hands since that transaction which makes the situation a lot longer, and the resolution slightly more confusing for the user. However my pass is still disabled, and I know there are plenty more people without theirs as well. Could we get an updated ETA on when this might be resolved? We're still working through them, our estimation for last week assumed we didn't run into a mass amount of additional transactions made with the illegal gold, unfortunately we ran into a slew of them which delayed the process (as we try to remove as much gold as possible). We're aiming for the end of this week and we have staff working on and off hours trying to resolve it. We currently have about 600 more transactions to go through that were made by two offending users. That number will probably increase slightly as we suspect users spent some of that gold and we'll have to reverse those transactions as well. Apologies for the delay and thanks for your patience. Allowing mules is only making it worse. One account per person should be allowed to enter each contest, that's it! Also perhaps making it so that we cannot vote for ourselves, for example making it so that any entries coming from your IP cannot be seen for voting. This might at least cut down on the cheating! I know there are ways around this but many people don't know them or wouldn't' be willing to do that for a simple contest on Gaia. We're still working on dealing with the cheating in Runway, unfortunately this isn't a fast process as there is a lot of validation involved to try and ensure we are getting the right users. We have ideas on what we can do to possibly curb the potential cheating, however we haven't made final decisions on what we can and cannot implement. As we can see, again, with the most recent Mermaid theme, a single player with multiple mules managed to pretty much sweep the top 6 places (minus the one avatar that managed to beat them). What's being done on this situation, as well as the issue of self-voting? We are investigating everyone that ends up winning a spot on Runway to ensure fair rulings, and putting extra notice on users who we believe might be cheating, however the process does take a while as we do have to manually validate a number of things. Is there going to be a report option in the Runway at some point? There have been many people bring up the issue of cheating / botting and as of late nothing really happening to prevent such things. (as far as most users know) I think a report button may help fix some of the issues. (And I dont see it being abused anymore then it was back in the Arenas ) A report button directly on the page? No plans to at the moment, but it's something we want to explore. Right now you can use the Help Center under 'Gaia Events" Zero Omega Nenanah features Since people have been submitting lots of proof that there are people exploiting the runway feature can you please disable it until you're able to get a fix on it? Other features get disabled when people exploit them like Switchem was take down due to a gold exploit and zOMG! was taken down because of a security exploit. You have also taken other features down until they were able to be fixed like fishing and you also took slots down a long time ago to fix glitches. It's not fair that this feature remains open, until you're able to go through all the proof and put in a fix to stop cheaters it should be taken down especially since cheaters are making it impossible to win any good prizes. It's an idea that's been passed around, my personal opinion (does not reflect what everyone thinks or what direction we'll go) on the matter is that the issue with Runway is not necessarily an exploit, but more that it's possible there are bots being used. Many of our games have had some sort of bot developed in the past, dealing with that means having to find a way to identify what is being done and stop it, but generally the games aren't shut down for botting. With the other issues you mentioned, these are exploits that actually take full advantage of the game code and can't be stopped at all without taking the game down. Basically, bots can be stopped or mitigated, an exploit in the code of something needs to be addressed entirely and unless disabled, the problem will continue to grow out of control.

And while I get that training takes up resources it may be worth bringing on just a few more as it could make a world of difference. Perhaps not even new moderators, just some forum assistants. When someone is using a ton of mules and they get banned permanently on an account and they use these mules to get on Gaia despite the ban how would you catch them for ban evasion, like how would you know, like can a member PM a mod with their suspicions or something and those accounts be investigated? Generally if we ban someone, they can come back onto the account with a mule or otherwise use an existing mule to use the site. First time bans for non-serious offenses usually result in the account getting banned. Ban evasions comes into play if we believe you have an idea you're going to get banned and purposely move your items over into a mule to try to avoid faces the consequences of the ban (losing your items). Or if you are banned on one account, come back onto the site with a mule and re-offend on the mule, or if you use a mule for the purpose of offending on the site to try and avoid the punishment on your main. We have various ways of investigating it, but none that we want to get into too much detail about.

Has any consideration been given to redoing the "mule" rule? Or in removing GCash as a prize, even temporarily? We've got a few things in mind, we're not ready to push live just yet, but there has been consideration for these and a few other things. Can someone fix up the rules to be a bit more clear? Its pretty clear that most LDers dont know what belongs in the LD any more, as many of the posts made there are moved to either the GD, CB, LI, or ED. The rules for all of those forums, including the LD are pretty similar in some area, which is why the LDs posts are getting moved to the other forums. We dont really know what is allowed to be posted in the LD without it getting moved Some forum rules have examples of what is and isnt allowed in their rule list, which also might help out in the LD as many posters seem lost on what is and isnt allowed; many have also abandoned making new threads due to the confusion Perhaps someone can add in examples of what is and isnt allowed in the LDs rules. For example, the GD rules say something like: Quote: Spamming isnt allowed. This counts as spamming: Quote: "spam spam spam spam spam spam spam" Also with, i believe it was the ED, they listed examples on where to post threads that didnt quite belong in the ED. For example, one could add: "Posts regarding advice towards life issues such as relationships, should be posted in the LI instead of the LD" to the LD rules Would someone be able to go over the LDs current rules and possibly add some examples of the posts that are allowed, as well as a few posts that arnt allowed, along with adding links to places the not allowed posts should be posted? We definitely plan to address the current LD rules, along with many other forum rules and guidelines, in the future as we know that a lot of them probably need changing.

Those jokes, depending on the content, can be considered trolling. August 30th, 2016: Zero Omega Arowan Features Runway Another week, another runway question! It seems like suspicious things are happening in the runway again, even with the new rule changes. Can we get another update on what staff are doing / considering doing to mitigate the seemingly never-ending abuse? We're in the middle of doing reviews for any possible abuse and may have some ideas if we find anything out of the ordinary.

I ended up buying a 25-pack for 449 Gaia Cash before the price got changed to the correct 1999 Gaia Cash. Should be expect our passes to be restored a lot quicker than last time, or are we going to be stuck waiting nearly a month like last time? We don't suspect the trouble is as bad as last time, so we're currently not estimating it will be a long wait. We're also looking into the issue with LK to try to stop this.
