Maybe the idea of true love had gone out the window back then, but Abbi cannot help but think that perhaps the idea has returned and sits on the sill waiting like a little bird. Why else would Chel even mention it? In all situations involving other people Abbi was certainly being overly optimistic, but most everyone she'd met so far on the Island weren't positive thinkers when it came to their own happiness. Granted, she knew this because she was the same but it didn't stop her from still trying to champion happiness for them.

She laughed and switched to a more glittery overtone, trying to dust lightly.
"Finn only ever likes hearing about himself, so I get that." A few more dabs and the girl stepped back. "But you can always talk to me. So maybe I can't give real world advice, but I can tell you what works in the otome games... And those are always like half right!" Or something, whatever.

Pleased with herself Abbi swung her arms out and cheered "TA-DA!", the only indicating that Chel ought to look in the mirror and check out the damage for herself.

Chel smirked. Seemed like everyone was throwing themselves at her to talk to. All but the one person she really needed to.

"Awright, let's see how you did."

The mirror was shown and Chel flinched slightly, blinking at the mirror. Then she let out a howling laugh, but it was good natured in sound. "Darlin' this is the best paint job I ever got," she said, looking back at the mirror and laughing again. "Hoo you're really nailed me."

For what stared back at Chel in the mirror was a girl with wet, mangled brownish hair and two black blobs where her eyes should have been. "C'mon, help me rinse the dye out, magic painter~"

Wiggling and tapping excitedly, Abbi darted from either side of Chel back and forth again in hopes that would make her obvious hard work all the more appreciated. In her head Viveca was howling with laughter for not only had she gone heavy handed in everything, she'd smeared most of it and extended the look far past the normal area. It looked costumey and childish, but seeing as how it was her try with honest to goodness makeup, Abbi couldn't really find it within herself to feel bad. Even if Chel did kind of look... Totally crazy at the moment.

"I think I prefer 'Thigh Highs'." Abbi said with a wrinkle of nose, but she hurried to help get the wash out process going. An extra towel was grabbed and she stood by, waiting and ready for instructions.

Chel continued to whoop about how good she looked through the entire process, teaching Abbi about how you had to clean of excess dye from your ears and other places, showing her how to apply the special conditioner that came with the dye.

"Really Abbi, thank you," Chel said, tone suddenly shifting to something more serious in comparison to her previously jolly one. "I think I needed this." Then despite what Abbi had preached about earlier, she kissed the girl on the side of the head in a very friendly way, giving her a side hug in the process. When she had finished she said, "Now can I wipe this s**t off my face and show you how to do it real proper?"

Once again, as with most things, Abbi watched intently and did her best to soak up the information being provided. It was a bit more difficult to do so simply because she had no real interest in doing the same thing to her own hair, but she was also not one to forgo something she might need to know later on. All in all, that meant a lot of questions for Chel and a lot of the girl getting close to examine the process.

The gratitude accompanied with a hug and kiss is a surprise, but not one Abbi dislikes. She smiles and nods gently, turning her face into Chel's neck momentarily to hug her back before they are parted.
"YESSS! Thanks for letting me practice... Poorly... But yes! Yes I want to LOOK PRETTY YASSSS!" The teen hopped up onto the counter, waiting patiently for Chel to wash off her face while she kicked her legs gently.
"Anything else ya wanna talk about?"

Chel laughed and said, "Okay hold on, hold on." She looked around and said, "You got any towels or ... I don't want to ruin 'em 'cause this makeup'll stain ... Got any makeup wipes?"

A dreadfully horror stricken look contorts Abbi's normally cheery disposition as she realizes she has neither makeup wipes or any additional towels.

"Oh my glob... Me, the Virgo Moon Princess, am unprepared." That was it. This was the end, Deus was going to fire her and send her far away because she hadn't brought enough towels and yes Abbi was about to fall on the floor in anguish.

Chel rolled her eyes and said, "Whatever shall we do." Then Chel took off her shirt, because this was a perfectly normal thing to do. Her shirt was black which meant it wouldn't stain, and Chel had no problem exposing herself in front of little Abbi. "Take some pictures, this beauty needs to be captured," she said sarcastically. The shirt being removed revealed her stomach scar, which coupled very nicely with small scratches across her body, almost guiding the eye up to the left side of Chel's face, the masterpiece of her body. The look she gave Abbi, however, nearly dared Abbi to take some pictures for real.

The water began to run and Chel dipped the shirt under it, using it to wipe the makeup from her face. It was tough becaues Abbi had really rubbed it in there and it was waterproof, but eventually the deed was done.

Then Chel squeezed herself between Abbi's legs, makeup brushes in hand. Chel was surprisingly adept at the art of makeup, she merely chose to have ritual raccoon eyes because she thought it suited her. "Mm ... not- oh. Yeah actually. I know I'm outta the hot seat and all, but ... could you still give that present to Jack? I figure on his birthday Hanna's gonna be with him, so I'd rather not ... I don't really wanna be there. Don't wanna embarrass myself that way." Yes, of course it hurt, but she also felt somewhat relieved that she could ask Abbi to do this for her. "And before ya tell me I should do it myself ... Yeah, I probably should. I'd just feel a lot better if it was outta my hands." It was something Abbi actually could do to make her feel better.

The removal of the shirt is not a problem, nor was the showcasing of Chel's finer assets as Abbi really didn't find that scandalous since they were both girls (and maybe it gave her a good size referential, not that she was occasionally glancing or whatever). What really draws her attention are the scars, of which she has forgotten everyone has. It is easy to believe she is the only one with physical reminders of their jobs when there are coats and clothes worn, but the lines and mars upon Chel's skin drive that point home a little more harshly than normal.
"I-I... Sorry, I uh... Erm..." Abbi can't think of anything clever, which is probably the first time in her life she hasn't thought of a sassy comeback, and eventually settles on, "My phone just died at your beauty!"

There is a lot of cackling and wheezing going on in her head thanks to Viveca, but its all the girl can do to wait while Chel scrubs away her first attempt at makeup. This isn't at all how she expects the night to go, it was supposed to be all fun and gossip and silliness and nothing so serious as talking about Jack. Its been a year and only now is Abbi glimpsing into his honest feelings, so she hasn't a clue why she thinks she can tackle the situation between him and Chel.
But she knows she will hate herself forever if she doesn't at least try, if she doesn't push one or both of them toward the other, that she will regret not having a place in their lives that she can't stop herself.
What she can do, in the least, is tell Chel she will be right back and return with two cups filled with the Vanilla Vodka she had on her desk.
Accepting nothing else but doing shots before her own make up is applied, it probably helped dull the idea of Chel being so close in such a compromising position.

"Oh! Oh yeah no--" Abbi flinched and fluttered her lashes and tried very hard not to move while she was make-up'd. "Yeah, I totes have it in my room and was going to give it to him on his birthday and all... I will." Again she promises, in softer tones, before she goes quiet. All along Abbi had promised to give Jack the gift and tell him it was from Chel, perhaps earlier in the day on the 31st than the party she intended to go to... But never once did she think of not accomplishing what Chel had asked.
"I always keep my promises." Maybe not everyone believed her on that matter, but it was true.

"I know ya do. S'why I can count on you to give it to him." She gave Abbi a look and said, "No sayin' it's from me either. I know you." All the squinty judgment. She knew you Abbi.

Of course maybe a tiny part of her wondered what Jack thought if he knew who it was really from.

She denied the vodka, setting it on the counter. Chel was never one to ignore amazing alcohol, but she knew that if she took even a sip, it would be coming back up in Abbi's toilet in about ten minutes.

Make up was applied quickly, but carefully like an art. She chose some softer pinkish colors, blending them with very, very light, subtle lavendar. It just seemed like the right colors for Abbi. "You know I didn't even ask- you got any dudes you're crushin' on?"

In a sincere effort to keep from telling Chel a lie directly to her face Abbi laughed at the look. Maybe if she neither said yes or no the woman would drop it and the girl could continue on with her original plan of saying exactly who it was from. Only now, things were starting to shift around in her mind, as far as planning went. The gift would still be delivered, but not at whatever party Abbi might happen to find herself attending alongside Jack. There was something much bigger she was going to attempt...

One party's refusal of alcohol just meant more for Abbi and she drained that without pageantry. She was still and mostly quiet for the makeup application, but had grown vaguely tingly and warm by the time Chel finally spoke.
"Me? Naaaww. I'm a two-way street of nada that leads to Lack'o'romanceville." She shrugged, folding her hands in her lap so she wouldn't fidget. "There are guys I think are cute but... No crushes." Outwardly she remained as still as before, but she grew more quiet too.

Chel nodded, face neither pleased or displeased with her answer. "S'cool. Sometimes flyin' single's better." In the past she would have advocated for it in all cases. Now she wasn't so sure. "Maybe it's cause you need a lady."

Finally the mirror was turned on Abbi, revealing the pink and purple starry makeup she'd chosen to do. It had tiny whiteish dots for stars and it suited Abbi quite nicely. "Tadah~" she cooed. It was a damn good job if she did say so herself.

"Flying solo for eighteen years is kind of a drag, lesbihonest." The teen sighed, she didn't like being this way. It felt pedantic and stupid, it felt ridiculous and like some seven year old who watched too many princess movies and took away the wrong message.
But its how she feels, and she can't stop it.
"You know... I considered that. Open minded and all... But I-D-K. It never appealed to me. Girls are mad cute but... Meh. Not really what I think about when I imagine someone sweeping me off my feet."

As for the makeup job, Abbi blinked wide blue eyes up at the mirror for a few seconds before she made a very odd noise: a low whine that morphed into a high squeal.
"HOOOOMIGOSH OHMIGOSH OHMIGOSH! I look SUPER COOL! Look there are little stars OHMIGOSH they look SO SO CUTE AHHHH!!" Immediately her phone is fished out and angled up so she can take selfies, ones from her spot on the counter, then ones against the wall, then ones with her hair down, then just a ton of silly ones and finally ones where she squishes Chel into the view too.
"This looks SO AMAZING. Ohmigosh thank you I look... I look cool. Really, thank you."

And because she cannot stop herself, Abbi pulls the girl into a hug that is the kind where, because she is smaller, she tucks her face into her friend and doesn't let go.

Even Chel had to crack a smile at the way Abbi was freaking out over a very minor paint job. She laughed at the selfies, but immediately stepped out of frame. She wasn't ready to see herself reflected in such a beautiful space. Even the ones Abbi caught of her were of the "good" side of her face, and Chel was looking away, avoiding the camera.

It was odd, because she used to take thousands of selfies, and now she couldn't even stand to look at one by another person.

The hug was both expected and welcomed. Even after everything, Chel still adored touching. Perhaps now she needed it even more than before. "Any time thigh highs," she told Abbi, running a hand down the orange headed girl's back in a soothing sort of motion. It felt nice to feel Abbi's skin on her own, a sort of electricity to her deadness.

"We should curl yer hair and get you all dolled up anyways. Y'know, for fun or whatever." Mostly because the idea of playing with Abbi's appearance like she was a doll was somehow very satisfying for Chel.
