In the control room, the senior agent was quiet. He had done all he could for now. This was all on them. They had to see the result of what they were doing. They had to learn exactly what they were doing, otherwise they were in the wrong agency.
"To hell with this tedium and the law." was what Mabuse said as he climbed a chair and pulled a paper bag over the smoke detector, tightening it with an elastic band. After that he sat down and lit another cigarette, flicking ash onto his knee and wiping it in periodically.
"I'd estimate she's at the end of the first corridor now. This place has a looping pattern so it's basically just a matter of time now."
Hauntings were not his specialty, true, but being in charge... this feeling was interesting. Not that you'd know from blue grey eyes focused in duty.

Sam smirked at Otto's allowance for smoking here but didn't let that distract him from the mission at hand. With 13 now in the thick of the supernatural, his eyes were glued to his instruments. The reading were growing steadily, but he had yet to see the spike typical of sudden eldritch happenings.

Okay. Now she's getting annoyed. She walked down the hallway, everything is so quiet since they shut down this side of the building. To avoid interference. This is not working. But, she said nothing. However, it would be obvious by her heart rate that she was started to become angry. Her feet took another step as it hits at the chair's leg. "Sir, this is not going to work." Might as well go ahead and say it as she used her hands to go around the chair and be able to continue down the hallway. Thirteen does her best to control her anger, after all, it was one of the 'mistakes' of her. She's too emotional out of her siblings. Decided to stop at the hallway, she sniffed for a bit as she froze. Something smells of chemicals. It took her back to the labs. A soft growl was heard before she was able to get back on her mindset. Her hands went up and placed on her hips as she waited. For her leader's orders. For something. Anything.

Otto stood over the screens, an expression part frown, part detachment. When Thirteen's voice came in he suppressed a grunt before noticing a flicker.
"Agent, we are noticing increased pulse, immediately report what you are feeling from all senses except sight, enitty can affect auditory, tactile, olfactory and taste centers"
He extinguished his cigarette and removed a complex looking device with a funnel at the front, numerous dials and an on off switch from his coat pocket, moving to leave the room.
"Sam, engage Spectrelight on your computer, like we practised. Moving to support Jr. Agent Thirteen."
This was it. Paydirt. As long as it didn't grab her. That's all he asked.

Sam noticed her heart rate rising, though he could not tell if it was from fear, anger or exertion. Her words seemed calm enough, so he guessed she wasn't doing anything too physically taxing. He paid partial attention to Otto, his primary focus still the sensor array feeding data back to the monitor. At his superior's word, he engaged the supernatural tech requested as his boss departed. He offered, "Just stay calm. Otto is coming."

Great. Way to go. Thirteen really does need to learn to keep her anger in check in moment like these. Because when her heart went up, her leader reacted by thinking something has happened when nothing happened at all. She even felt offended when her so called partner has told her to stay calm. That her boss is coming right now. Great. A man like him telling her to stay calm? Especially who is more fearful out of this who group? Thirteen brings her hand up as she slightly rubs her head. "Boss, don't bother coming to me. I was just angry. That's all. Absolutely nothing is happening right now."

Mabuse almost swore under his breath. He could see Thirteen. But... if there was nothing, why was it so cold here?
And there it was, a scream from one of the residents rooms.
"Thirteen, remove your blindfold and prepare to assist me."
He quietly, without even a creak moved to the door of the room and stood to it's left.
"Agent, on the count of three, I want you to breach that door. I don't care how, just get it out the way, then wrangle down that screaming blindman. Without injuries if possible."

The meters Sam had been focusing on had been steadily rising the whole time, but now they suddenly shot up. Due to the building's older construction, this marked increase in occult wavelengths was accompanied by a faint cry from where Mabuse and 13 were. The yelling caused him to shudder, but his attention returned to monitoring screens momentarily.

Information We Can Reveal So Far
The Supersoldier Programs
From around 1956, the Shadow Governments of all major nations have collaborated on a number of programs designed to weaponize the supernatural in the favour of the Department of Infernal Affairs, with a rapid flow and sharing of information, though it was not until the Cultural Revolution that China opted to join.
The first viable result was reached by the Canadian team working on Project: Blackwood. This resulted in a human being turned partially into a Wendigo, though it's ferocity lead to it's use as a weapon of last resort.
A second, more stable breakthrough was reached by (data excised), an independent military contractor what had created the Licheops program, which allowed for reanimation of deceased operatives with the aid of necromantimechanical rigs at first. The most recent incarnations moved first to onboard microcomputers, then experimental nanomachines.
The other program of note was reached by the Japanese, with their Ogres-Corpse program. This depended upon three alien units recovered from a crashed ship, which when bonded to a human host, allowed them to summon a suit of powerful biomechanical armour. Records indicate that Captain Djukovic of the 1986 team was part of an equipment switch, based on the algebra of need which the Shadow Government operates upon.

The tall female removed her blindfold the moment she heard the scream, part of her thought it was her leader but it wasn't when the order of removing of the blindfold has arrived to her ears. Thirteen silently moved to the right of the door as she nodded when he gave her the order of her need to breach the door and take care of the male. Without injuries. Damn. Half of her wanted to see blood. Wait. Why does she wanted to see blood? Is this part of her animalistic urges kicking in? Thirteen can only hope not. Once he said three, Thirteen stood in front of the door, shifted her weight as it would be on her heel and used all that to kick the door close to the door knob which had the door flung wide open. When she saw the male, Thirteen quickly tackled him down and both of them landed to the floor safety, due to the male landed on her, thanks to Thirteen since she shifted their weight so he wouldn't get hurt. In matter of moments, Thirteen was now on top of the male and holding him down so he wouldn't hurt either her or himself.

Otto put in his nose plugs and started winding a handle on the side of his mystery device. The scents of wolfsbane, burning sage and frankincense made him nauseous.
Stepping into the room and gritting his teeth, he motioned for his teammate to draw her weapon before flicking a switch. The mechanism started to life, the internal works revolving, a flint struck the tinder of the dried sage, following onto the frankincense and wolfsbane, thick, acrid smoke leaking from the funnel. The central liturgy wheel began revolving, shaking the device in his hand.

An eldritch screech filled the room as a shape began to materialize, slowly. First it's shadow, then a body, long and distended, it's face a blank expanse where it's eyes should be, but all other organs were distorted, exageratted.
"Spirit! I hereby pronounce you excorcised, in the name of the Department of Infernal Affairs. Agent Thirteen, turn this creepy piece of snot into swiss cheese before the device runs out!"

Sam heard the goings-on elsewhere in the building, and after 13 had disabled the screamer, the ectoplasmic readings went stabilized. Sam knew this meant Otto had begun his work, and he watched the levels of energy wane as the ghost was paralyzed. Once 13 began her work, the readings took a sharp decline. Though Sam took a backseat role in all of his missions up until now and was usually far from danger, he couldn't help but cheer for their victory (but not into the mic).

Thirteen snarled dangerously towards the old man she tackled down. Once he behaved, she heard her order. And this was why she brought her gun even when Otto said that she didn't have to. Her hand slipped to behind her as she pulled out her handgun that rested in it's handle. The safety clicked as it turned off. Once she was sure that Otto was not in the way, she fired shots towards the creature. Once it was taken care of, Thireteen felt sick in her stomach. Growled softly, she left the room and into the hallway. The scents that was in there was too strong for her sensitive nose.

A room full of acrid smoke and kicked up dust. A deaf man shaking on the floor. And a warped half corpse. The smoke so thick no one would be able to see in or out. For a few seconds nothing came. Then, one hand holding the device, the other holding a test tube full of something unpleasently viscous and luminescent looking, Otto strolled out, eyes on the ground, coughing a little. He walked back towards the control room, leaving Thirteen to leave in her own good time.
In the room, he handed the tube to Sam.
"Add specimen to Spectrelight database. Operation is complete."
After that he pulled on his jacket and left the buildings interior, dialling another number and speaking into the receiver.
"We're finished here. Bring in the forensics and medical personnel. I want class A amnesiac sedation for all staff and residents of this place and we have a ghosts corpse for your little collection. And prepare one dose of Clearence Level Black for tonight."
Another cigarette, this time from his special tin which he kept for his personal treats. A gold filtered Sobranie black russian cocktail cigarette.
Well, no one was injured. No one he cared about, though the man in that room would probably have a broken bone.
