He almost suggested that she keep better track just to be sure it was normal and not warning signs, but then just let it go. For show, he opened his mouth and then closed it, turning his head as she clambered over him and nestled onto his bed. "Are you back talking me, Craft?" Jack asked, raising his brows and trying not to sound too amused. "Try anything and I'll shove you off this bed, bruises be damned."
Slipping her sunglasses off, he poked her back with one of the legs. "Ask nice and maybe I'll let you sleep there."

"What the ******** would I even try," she sassed back. "Yeah okay, I'll just make a move on this dude who can't even sit up without coughing. Great plan." She peeked over her shoulder and stuck her tongue out at him.
"I don't ask nice." She was a rebel. A REBEL.
But she pursed her lips and quietly added, "But I'd appreciate it."

She'd see him grinning a little. "I dunno, maybe you'd pull another supernova on me," he stage whispered, like it was still some ugly little secret of hers and not at all a stale joke. Bickering was a good sign, another step away from the limp blue and green haired thing she'd been.
"Since you got me bandages and food, and because I'm a nice guy, I'll allow it," Jack decreed, wincing as he pulled his legs over his side of the bed. "Do you need a blanket or something?"

Chel pulled herself under the same blanket that Jack was under, too lazy to get up for her own blanket (although Jack was offering, they both knew he was too weak to perform the task). Her backside touched his ridiculously long legs, but at this point Chel had long since stopped caring.
It took a long time, inevitably, for her to fall asleep. It didn't come quickly or picturesquely, but she fought for it and it was seized. She was unaware what Jack did.
---
When she woke, it was dark. An odd thing to wake up to. It took her a moment to register where she was. Jack's bed, right, right.
She sat up, smacking her lips and wiping her face a bit. Jack was there, completely knocked out. Chel stared at him for a time, running a hand down his arm. She pushed her nose into his side, and then let sleep come to her again.
---
It was still dark the second time, but this time she wasn't awake of her own accord. This time it was an incessant beeping at her side. It took her a groggy moment to recognize what was going on, but she immediately curled it around her stomach, using her body as a shield in case this was the time it was going to blow up.

He went out like a light at first and then flickered like embers for the rest of the night. Sometimes he was highly aware of when Chel shifted in her sleep (acutely aware the one time his consciousness lasted long enough to realize her face was pressed against him), sometimes he couldn't give a damn, and sometimes he was still and asleep.
Mostly, though, it was too hot. He would have rolled away, but there wasn't enough room and his legs were already dangling off the bed as it was. The blanket was tossed off and over her before, after wiping off sweat with the back of his palm, he tried to sleep.
Eventually he found himself on his back, one leg askew in Chel's space and the other against the headboard. He sighed and puffed some air into his bangs as he contemplated the dark ceiling. It hurt too much to fall back asleep so easily this time, probably from his constant shifting; the only good thing about his shallow sleep was that he hadn't had nightmares this time. Though contemplating the contours of his dorm while coated in a light film of sweat wasn't much better.
He wasn't used to sharing his bed by any means.
"You awake?" he whispered.

Chel nodded, eyes shut as she waited for the beeping to stop. It was eating away at her as it had for the past few nights. At least she had managed to get some sleep. She would have liked to think it was Jack's doing, but perhaps that was wishful thinking.
"Thank you," she said, putting her around his waist and squeezing in a hug. The arm was withdrawn, because she knew Jack wouldn't like it. But she did, and if the events thus far had proven anything it was that Chel did whatever the hell she wanted.
The beeping continued, to the point where it was monotonous and she felt less guarded. She undid herself from the knot she'd formed around the bracelet and instead turned on her side. Back to Jack, arm still pressed to her stomach. Still guarding Jack. "b***h of an alarm clock."

He scrunched his face at the brief one-armed hug and grunted but did nothing about it; he was already stretched out anyway, and any more movement would just add to his problems. "What for? My fault you're stuck w'that," he pointed out. It was easy to see the faint glow of the device even as she huddled around it.

"And yer helpin' me sleep with it." She grinned her crooked smile and said, "Yer more than one guy."
She let out a yawn, scooting herself higher up so her head sat on the pillow instead of flat as it had before. It was then that the beeping stopped. Chel relaxed, her entire body going limp. She let out a long breath that seemed very hard to catch afterwards. It was the same experience every time.
Seeing as it was done, she rolled onto her back, looking over at Jack. Her eyes were slowly adjusting to the dark and she could make out some of his features. "Sleep okay?"

"More like m'too tired to give you the boot. Or I'd fall over trying."
He went back to half-lidded gazes at the ceiling, relaxing as well when the beeping stopped. Echoes of it kept ringing in his ears. "S'it sound like I did?" Jack asked, clasping his hands over his stomach as it was one of the few places that didn't immediately throb with pain when he did.

She grinned at him giving his little temper tantrum. "'Cept I saw you sleepin' ya ********' liar."
Over the side of the bed she stretched out. Then she returned to curling up against Jack's side, mostly with the satisfaction of knowing he was apparently too tired to do anything about it. "Well did the bandaids at least help?"

"Sometimes," he muttered. "Sometimes you just get too ********' tired long enough to shut your eyes for forty minutes or something, but it's not sleep. Not without dreams, definitely not without nightmares."
His hands clenched each other tighter as she curled up, a little like how stiff his posture had gotten when she had borrowed his lap during the movie. Or at least a tired version of it, as it switched from merely tensing to tracing his wrists. "But yeah, helped a little." His fingers went over the bandages on his right hand, sending unpleasant tingles throughout. "Thanks."

"Yeah no problem, no big deal." She frowned and said, "Wish I coulda gotten more. They only gave me that much."
She let out a snort that was somewhat close to laughter, but not quite mirthful enough for legitimate joy. "Think this is the calmest I ever seen you."

His shoulders moved like he was trying to shrug and then gave up halfway through. "It's four in the morning n' everything hurts. On top've that, my ears're still ringing. S'less calm and more can't give any less shits 'cause I can't control any've it n' m'too tired to be angry about that, so." Another almost shrug. "Already spend a lot've time annoyed with something or other anyway."

"Y'want me to go?" she asked, already heaving her sagging body up to make the terrifying trek to her shoes near the doorway in the dark.
Rubbing her eyes was not helping her see the doorway any clearer. "You know what would help with that annoyance? Whatever Legolas' elf eyes see." She grinned and began sinking back to the bed. Outside of the bed was cold and not comfy and Jack was not there. Boooo.

"Honestly, I dunno why I let you stay over in the first place. Guess I thought you'd take a nap, not sleepover," he admitted. "S'whatever at this point. Your choice."
He punctuated this by forcing himself to roll onto his stomach, grimacing and grunting all the way until both he and his pillow had flipped over. It was a little easier than before at least. He sighed as he wiggled forward and rested his chin atop the cooler side, if for just a moment; it was a careful balancing act not to agitate either of his bruises there too much.
"What'd he even see again? Orcs or somethin'? That wouldn't help." Jack grumbled a little and added, "I actually might need glasses."
