Carefully he grasped the ice cube with the tongs. Judas wasn't sure this would actually work, but he held the ice cube close to the flame anyways. He watched as a drip slowl formed, then fell, narrowly missing the flame. How were you supposed to make this steam exactly? he wondered.

Apparently, he simply could not get anything right with this fire and ice thing because again, he put the ice cube far too far from the flame.

Benji starts moving the ice cube toward the candle, but it slips out of his tongs and onto the table, nowhere near the flame. His ears go back at the criticism, and he makes sure to try and choose a more cooperative cube this time.

This ice cube is even less cooperative than the last one. As he walks it toward the candle, it slips loose and plunges to the ground, right into his shoe. He sighs. Clearly the ice cubes just do not trust him around open flames today.

Shiki headed back to the booth again, deciding to give it another go. It seemed fine enough and he was still trying to find out why the ice and flame were supposed to go together.

Nope, he still didn't understand but he did manage to get pretty darn close, it was shocking the flame hadn't gone right out with him nearly setting the cube on it.

Ruth had not partaken sooner in Carnivale. There were so many students around that she figured she wouldn't be noticed or alternately missed either. But whatever her reason for delaying, she eventually decided to remedy that and join in. The first booth she picked was, naturally, the one that belonged to two of her friends.
Well, one friend and one sort-of-boss-authority-figure (both of whom owned cute posteriors). Wordlessly, she waved at them and patiently waited for her turn to try her skill. It was highly tempting for her to simply put out the flame, if only because she knew how much it agitated Andrew.
Nevertheless, she managed to complete the task.

Lusine held the ice cube far above the candle's flame. She was a little scared of getting burned. Trying to hold on to the slippery, wet, cube wasn't easy though. She fumbled, and dropped it. Frowning, she looked a the ghouls running the both, they let her have an extra turn. Quote: 31-40 “Oh come on you have to try better than that.” (Get a free extra roll for today. Andrew is staring at you.)

Trying again, Lusine still held the cube high above the flame. At least she held on to it this time, but there was no steam. She thought maybe she was doing it wrong when she noticed the disappointed looks of the booth owners. Oh well, that was enough for today. Righting the way she held the dog, Ruth then found herself the owner of a treat. Her mouth opened in surprise and silent protest, as if asking what Andrew mean she was getting a real prize? With her free hand, she tried to wave away the proffered mini. But the flame demon was insistent, and like a good minion she obeyed her pseudo-boss-figure.
She did, however, made sure to visibly pout at him as she begrudgingly accepted the treat.

Nova still hadn't won the game in the way it was meant to be done. So here he was again, tongs in hand picking out an ice-cube. So far, he'd bumped the fire with the ice-cube putting it out, held the cube a bit too close and made it drip, and ended up simply not getting it close enough for a reaction... that all seemed to lead him to today.
Nova held the cube out over the flame, it flickered a little at the movement, and waits. Shortly, steam rises up from the ice-cube and floats about the room.
"Hey!" He says excitedly, "I finally go it to work!"
