At the wave, Melvin gave a small wave back and then stopped when he realized he could just walk over, which he did. Moving over to Rep, he looked around and back to the hunter, looking him up and down. "You look good when you clean up." He told the man, finding it nice to see Rep in some form of formal attire. "Big day, huh?" He said, guessing that anyone on their wedding, be it groom or bride (though he guessed it was groom groom unless someone in this duo lost at rock, paper, scissors) would get butterflies at the fact of binding themselves to one person. It was a huge commitment and on a island where people flipped about a lot, it was saying something.

"Nervous?" He asked the obvious question before looking back at the company in the bar and back at the Sun. "Is...there a reason why we have golems here?" As a Lifer, he could pretty much spot weapon golems easily. Then again, Bones and Tracey weren't exactly blending in.

"Demons," B0nez rolled his eyes. "Hughsey is great, okay, I've worked really hard on him and he's really tall with plenty of muscle and he does whatever I tell him to, so. You can't crit my roll."

He blustered at being accused of being boring.

"I just actually know how to play, it's like, this is extreme no-restart mode. You just want us to get the worst ending but we're not going to because I'm like, too good for it. ...Way to dress up by the way, raid much?"

To be fair, the armor looked really, really cool but it was like going on a special ops undercover mission and putting on your jungle camo gear. Everybody knew that you had to wear either a tie or a dress. You had to pick one, you couldn't show up looking 50000% cooler than anyone else.

Tracey raised a brow. "He's not that tall, William is taller." By an inch but an inch completely mattered when it was a bragging match someone was engaged in. "And you don't know how to play or we wouldn't have lost Jordan, we are going to get a bad ending anyway."

At the mention of his armour he simply took it as a complete compliment, dragging his claws feather lightly across the perfect sweeps and curves of his breastplate, admiring the sheen. "You are just jealous you came in your usual ratty ensemble and didn't think of looking as fantastic as me."

-

Rep gave Melvin a grin as he headed over, doing a little bit of proud preening himself at the compliment on his appearance. "Thanks. It took me a long ******** time to try and get neatened up. And aye, big day." He tried not to look as nervous as he felt and failed, he took weddings painfully seriously and was absolutely freaking out. "I'm really ******** nervous to tell the truth, completely shitting a brick."

He was temporarily distracted by Tracey and B0nez and looked puzzled. "Well its their day too? Wanted them to have a part in proceedings."

He checked his phone again. "Speaking of which we should be starting soon."

Jordan didn't answer the first question, just nodded. "Good to see you in one piece, too," he answered. "I was getting concerned, since you'd been gone a while." He leaned on the table. "Robert's doing pretty well. He seems happy. He's, well." A one-shouldered shrug. "Still Robert."

Jerry laughed at that, not noticing his dancing around the first question, or at least seeming polite enough not to press it. "That's good to hear, at least! Gosh, I've got so much to catch up on... you should have seen me when I came through the portal, I was a mess- which reminds me, did you know Cee was here?? From Blue Kingdom! On the island! And not a dream! A real person! And she er... well, I'm sure you do! I haven't seen Chantelle around, nor have I even said hello to-" He hesitated, glancing about the room before he spotted the Blue-Kingdom woman in question chatting it up across the way and he blushed heavily.

He then spotted Rep checking his phone, and his expression turned more somber as he turned back to Jordan, "You er... alright? Looks like they might start soon."

"I met her," Jordan agreed. "It was something of a surprise. She's interesting." He smiled faintly at the blush, but didn't comment on it.

The smile slid off at the question. "I'm okay," he said, and didn't look over toward the cordoned-off area yet. "I'll be taking off after the ceremony. I took leave." He'd promised to talk to Tracey before he left, but he didn't feel a need to explain that.

"Rex was a great roll, a little, you know, mouthy but I've said it before, if I could dual screen- ah!" A message popped up on the screen. B0nez had taken Harrison skeptically through the process about 20 times, but he'd managed it. On his own, even. "Ahhhhh, okay, we're starting, go away- go away-" B0nez shooed Tracey off. He mostly looked like he was contemplating pushing him but just did not want to do the touching part.

"Seating!" He said, strangled, then hushed, "Seating, everyone should- sit, ahh, music-"

After a little more hurrying back and forth, a pirated recording of Apocalyptica's cover of Nothing Else Matters drifted through the bar.

Tracey gave B0nez an irritable look for the way he was unceremoniously dismissed. He would never get used to being treated with disdain. Still, there was work to be done so he turned and made his way to his side of the room behind the seats that had been laid out for guests.

Rep joined him after apologizing to Melvin that it was time to start but rather than waiting behind the seats he waited obediently in the aisle, stiff and worried, conscious of the people present and terrified that he might make some mistake before they even began.

Al's phone began to vibrate in his pocket and he jerked away from the bar. He hurriedly went around and made his way over to the seating area and proceeded to snatch a second row spot. He then made sure to turn the phone off completely. Just in case.

Harrison laced his arm with Rep's.

Oddly, he wasn't nervous, like he'd been for the quarterly. Crowded public s**t, whatever, it was their business, and their friends. Most important of all it was Rep, who he hadn't seen for half the day and was as always relieved to see now.

Rep's formality and neatness were like a thin skin over scars and muscled violence. There was fresh-killed fur on his sporran. He must have done his hair up himself, or asked for help from Tracey. Instead of being softened with flowers and braids, he'd streaked it with dark stripes, an echo of the him that had been twisted into a manifestation of War.

The shadows then had been brief, nothing compared to the false centuries of godhood, and it felt like time had been stretched forever between now and their first engagement.

Power radiated from Rep, in the dark blue of the sapphire at his throat, in the vial on his ear, and from him.

Harrison stood straight, with confidence, as they took their first steps.

Metallica wasn't as perky as Vivaldi, or as weirdly dirgey as the bridal march, but after all they'd been through it felt about right.

Rep's heart was going a hundred miles an hour, on the battlefield it was fine, facing down death wasn't a problem, but somehow facing down a room of friends and people who in general wished them both well (or at least wished for cheap booze) was the most intimidating thing in the world.

His mother had never married, and part of him had tried to explain it as the source of so many of their problems, and that made this important - not because he had problems - but because he was going to do something she had never. He was going to take another step away from that life, that baggage that weighed him down every day of his life, and take a step closer to Harrison.

But despite all the anxiety and fear that had him in its thrall, the moment Harrison took his arm he exhaled quietly. It was no longer insurmountable but instead was manageable, he could cope with it with the other man there next to him. It was about him, it wasn't about what other people thought of their relationship, it wasn't about the awful crippling guilt that he'd failed Jordan, that by rights there should be more of them up there. For the time being it was simply about Harrison and looking at it that way, he could do it.

It had never surprised him that Harrison's god-self had been Duty, every part of him spoke very firmly of dedication, of rules and unbending values. He knew who he was without doubt or hesitation and to Rep it always set him apart as somehow more real than the world he inhabited. Other people felt like insubstantial ghosts next to the solid weight of determination and certainty.

In the suit he'd chosen he echoed that other self, the other him that had uncompromisingly ruled the kingdom of Protection, yet despite the echoes it was undeniably his other half, his partner in all things. There was the youth and softness that set them apart but more than physical differences there was something softer underneath, beneath his exterior. He was not driven by the cold necessity of running a world but instead his own reasons and values. And it was those values he loved.

The music suited him just fine, not girly but nevertheless honest, sweet and sad but with a thread of ultimate triumph over adversity. They walked and it felt like a hundred thousand miles rather than the few feet that it actually was.

Tracey lingered, watching Jordan at the back, waiting his turn, his expression blank and cool, intending to seize in the same way as their hunters if the ghost boil wandered too close, it was a matter of symmetry, and as he'd explained at length earlier, acheivements.

"Their day?" Melvin was confused for a moment before he figured out that these were Rep and Harrison's weapons, but then that left him wondering about how weapons interacted when it came to hunters getting married. Did they also feel the distinct pull to get married or even get what marriage was? He wondered how hunter emotions affected weapons for a brief moment until he dismissed it. They were weapons. Fear creatures. He didn't have to spend time thinking about things like that that didn't matter.

When Rep stated things were going to start, Melvin went to take a seat near the front and made sure his phone was on silent. He waited, a mixture of emotions as he watched his friend settle at his post beside Harrison.

The music was one thing that got a surprised smile on his face. He couldn't believe they were going with this song, and he resisted the urge to hum along. He had to wonder who of the two decided on this selection.

B0nez followed, although it had taken some finagling to get him to touch Tracey at all, much less link arms. He leaned as much as he could get away with, while trying to hover the crook of his elbow. Unfortunately, he had zero chance against Tracey's ruthless armored grip.

Harrison didn't know of any pastors on the island, or even ship captains. He'd been too intimidated to ask H (and was not sure if that was a great idea in the first place) or Edith, and the officiator had ended up hooked to wires and seated on the bar.

He stood straight, and took Rep's hands, then turned to the handful who had showed up for this part.

"We want to thank everybody for coming out tonight," Harrison offered, "Before we get started, we'd like to take a minute for the friends and family we got that couldn't be here. Cause of being off-island, or otherwise."

He looked now at the reserved front row of chairs, and bowed his head.

B0nez, who had released Tracey and now stood at Harrison's side, fidgeted with his jacket.

Harrison was a more superstitious man than a religious one, but he thought hard on his mom. On the folks he'd met who had never woken up. Of the mentors who'd died for a cause. Of the friends who'd died for nothing at all. If there was some kind of After that didn't mean being zombified, maybe they'd know about today, and know they would have had a place here.

One of the things that Rep did better than all else was denial. He took information and bent it around his own world view, made it palatable. He needed to do it simply to cope. But sometimes he was able to skirt close to the truth he knew deep down, to face down the denial and the fears for a moment in time. As he eyed the empty chairs, he knew that the people missing from them would never be coming back, that it was stupid of him to think that was the case. It was tough to take, even for the short period of time that he tried to. His mother was gone, Rin was gone, Killzone, Clarice, all of them were gone. And they should have been there.

The emotions became hard to take and he too bowed his head, and even as he did it the blocks of denial fell back into place. The seats were empty because they might arrive, it was a gesture to say that they were not gone, simply absent and he felt the deep overwhelming grief twist into resentment instead. It was rude that they wouldn't come, it was rude that they were missing. He'd have words with them when they came back.

He squeezed Harrison's hands but couldn't gather up the balls to speak himself, it was something between gratitude that he'd spoken up first and a signal of just how nervous he really was.

Tracey was good at looking grand and glorious and stood to the side of Rep like some angelic honour guard, smiling smugly under his helmet at B0nez. He did not really understand death, he did not really understand grief.

Al listened quietly as Harrison spoke, setting aside any preconceived resentment over not being allowed to help with anything fun for fear of driving the invisible wedge even deeper between them and consequently - Rep and himself as well. The fact was, Harrison made Rep happy. Anyone who could make the boss happy was a wizard. It wasn't an easy task to take and seemed almost impossible at times. Not that Al wanted to make Rep happy the same way, either.

But, at least he was sure all this commitment stuff didn't mean that Rep couldn't be friends with him anymore. That was his only real concern. He was still given a duty after all. Not best man, or ring bearer, or bridesmaid or whatever. But a job at all, and that assured him that he was going to be okay in all this.

The smile he had been wearing broadened and he shot Harrison and Rep each a thumbs up.

This level of commitment seemed almost normal. In this moment they were back home. Back home and those two crazy looking things on stage were simply in costume for reasons unknown.
