Verity flared her four wings out wide. Even with torn feathers they made her look many times the size she actually was. Her tactic had worked. The mare was going to attack her singly and attempt a group attack. Good. This was something Verity was familiar with, single combat. She could-

The third kalona came exploding out of the underbrush.

Liliel screeched in indignation when Tythoss came out of nowhere to steal her glory. "That isn't fair!" She shrieked before darting in to join the fray now that the mare was distracted. Tythoss may have gotten the first blow but she would be the one to finish the job. Moving more awkwardly than she would have liked Liliel reared up and slashed at the angeni's neck with her taloned feet. This would be a beautiful victory!

It had been unfortunate that both Xantir and his youngest daughter had been captured. He had sworn to her that he would get them out and home safely though he wasn't sure how. He was no longer the young stallion that he had once been. He could feel his age in his bones. His daughter was no spring chicken herself but she still had a life ahead of her. If nothing else he had to get her free. So as soon as their ropes had been removed Xantir had taken the lead wanting to put as much distance between the two of them and their captors as possible. He hadn't known that in the process of running the path had turned sending them closer to where they did not want to be.

Ijn heard someone call out in pain and came to a stop. She'd been content to follow her dad until now. There were others still out there getting hunted. She wanted to run away but she couldn't. It wasn't fair. "Dad wait... there's someone over here!" She turned abruptly and started running towards the scuffling sounds of a fight not knowing if her father followed or not. They had never been as close as they should have been. She couldn't sense his presence the way many could.

Barely a minute had passed before Ijn saw what was going on. A mare had been trapped by three kalona and she was definitely in trouble. Not giving herself any time to think and chicken out Ijn charged and tackled the stallion holding the angeni's wing in his jaws.

Xantir did not want this daughter to run into danger. He didn't want her to but there seemed to be no stopping her as usual. He'd promised to keep her safe. Xantir followed. He burst onto the scene not long after and since Ijn was after one he'd have to take the other. The clawed mare was larger than he was but that didn't stop Xantir from kicking at her.

Tythoss saw the new intruders. He could have detached from the angeni to fight them... but he did not. Instead he pulled the angeni by the wing, spinning them around to keep the angeni between himself and the other two. From the limpness of the wing he could tell that bones were already broken. They were such fragile appendages for all their strength.

While keeping his grip with his teeth he lashed at her with his tail, aiming for anywhere without armor where he could strike a blow.

Everything had fallen to madness around them in one instant. Tythoss had showed up out of nowhere, and now these other two soquili. Xellra's eyes snapped from one melee to the other. After another moment of hesitation, he barreled forward at the two interlopers. He ran like a bull, head lowered and sharp horns atop his head pointed at the mare.

Xellra jerked away almost immediately after contact. The mare, apparently the stallion's daughter, was already pummeling at him. He leaped backwards away from the two, flapping with his wings to put some extra distance between himself and them. Was the blow he had dealt to Xantir a mortal one? Possibly, but not immediately at any rate. He licked his lips, tasting the blood that was there. Smiling, he began to stalk back towards the two of them.

"You're next," he told the mare.

"No!" Ijn cried at the stallion. No she would not be next. No he would not get away with this. Everything was just a whirlwind of 'no' for her. Her dad lay on the ground near her bleeding. His eyes were squeezed shut and his legs were pushing at the ground as if he were trying to stand. He could still make it if they could find a healer. The mare had a horn, Ijn thought not realizing that it was only armor. She could fix her dad. They just had to chase off the last of the kalona so that it was safe first. One had already fled, that left two, one for each of them.

"Get away!" She shouted charging at winged stallion only to turn and kick as she had seen a few of her kind do in a fight. She had no real fighting experience herself but she could make do. She would have to. She didn't have a choice if she wanted to help her dad.

The mare was coming at her again. Verity had driven off one kalona and her battle rush had not subsided. She saw the mare leaping at her and inwardly smiled. That was a mistake. She was too open. Verity tucked three of her wings against her, the fourth hanging limp and useless. With her sleeker shape she whipped her hindquarters around. She kicked backwards with both hooves, knowing that it was too late for Liliel to change her direction. Ironically, it was almost the same move that Ijn used against Xellra. However, unlike Ijn, Verity was masterfully trained.
