Ordinarily, Armel would continue walking and ignore the strange man, but he paused this time. The strange man "tripped" and rolled back onto his feet without trouble. Refined reflexes despite the man's state of mind. Refined reflexes and cunning. Armel was well-aware the man purposely fell. This man was not a fool, he was something dangerous. A threat to his queen if he so decided to be. Armel would not hesitate to dispatch the man, but he did not know the man's strength and abilities. He wasn't an ordinary man, which only increased Armel's worries for his queen's safety.
And then the rock, the rock the man tripped over. It was not a large rock, no bigger than the paw of a newborn cub, but when the strange man hit it with his foot, Armel heard the rock break apart. Power and strength were behind this odd man's guise. He was a threat, a danger. He needed to be dealt with and swiftly for his queen's sake. Armel didn't want to know about the man's mutterings, whether he was cold because of the breeze that followed him or because he could not handle the cool night air, it didn't matter. This man was dangerous.
Walking in stride beside his queen, Armel observed her frown turn into a sneer. She thought the man was weak; her senses must have been dulled by their long and weary travels for her to think the man was a weakling. She focused on finding a place to stay for the remainder of the night. "My sovereign, my queen, that man is no weakling. Eccentric, but not weak." His gaze shifted to the rock, now broken in smaller pieces. No weakling could break such a rock by simply tripping over it. Armel himself could not perform such a feat without exerting strength.

Kakumei stopped and straightened up a bit, a gentle smile crossing his face.
"I guess none of my people have been up to the surface in quite some time. While my eyesight needs many weeks of adjusting to this... 'sunlight', my ears do not. Is there no lore for people like mine? Has it truly been this long?"
Kakumei looked down a bit, frustration spread on his face. But it soon faded away and his smile came back, looking straight at the man.
(Please feel free to quote me in your first post of a day involving me. It is actually pretty hard for me to be aware when someone is involving me with there roleplaying)

Armel stopped walking and turned to face the strange man, his hand going to his sheathed saber and his large frame blocking view of his queen. Though the man spoke of no threats, his presence was threat enough. Whatever this man was, he needed to keep away from Armel's queen. "My queen, please remain far from this man's grasp." Taking one step forward, Armel watched as the strange man's expression went from downhearted to frustrated to...strange once more. "More of ones such as yourself? If you are unknown to me, you and your people are surely unworthy of being known by my queen. I do not know what you are, sir." But I do know you are dangerous, he thought. Armel's family were blessed with the first polar bear queen's kindness many generations ago. They lived among the humans for hundreds of years; they compiled texts of different magical species, as did the other families blessed by the first queen. Strange men such as the one before him were never mentioned.

Kakumei sighed softly. "Put that thing down before you hurt yourself..." He spoke a bit annoyed now. "I want to talk. As in, have a conversation and exchange words. You can do that, right? You are capable of normal conversation? Or has life on the surface world devolved to a point where everyone threatens each other for no reason at all." The male shook his head, his blue locks swayed with the movement. "Or, if I have to calm you down myself, I could do that too..."

Amaya stopped as the men turned this into a confrontation. With an irritated grumble, she turned to face them. "Armel, stop. He hasn't actually threatened me, only delayed my pace. And if he had, I could have dealt with him." She moved to be beside her subject, her voice firm with the order her gaze dared him to disobey. "I do enjoy a good fight, but between bears, not men."
Then her gaze shifted to the other. "There's no need to calm him, he will do that on his own. As for you, you may wish to talk, but I am in a hurry. If you can keep up, I suppose you can follow until we reach our destination where we will part. But I cannot promise any worthwhile conversation with him." She could tell by the way Armel reacted this man was not as harmless as she had previously thought. If he was in fact strong she would be cautious. But allies were always great to be made, if they were powerful. Especially if they were made with her as the Queen. "What exactly are your people?" She asked, allowing herself a tiny curiosity.

"We are known as the Arahitogami. Though, we are not gods like our name suggests, however we are considered the oldest known race." Kakumei smiled softly, his yellow eyes light up happily at the question. "You could say we are... Unique among our mortal brethren.."

Armel bowed his head to his queen and stepped aside so he would not obstruct her conversation with the odd and irritating man. It must have been many years since the man saw someone act aggressively if he thought Armel would attack him without just cause. The guard simply remained cautious for his queen's sake. He kept his hand on the hilt of his sword as he stared directly at the man, his gaze unwavering as he listened to him speak about the Arahitogami, his people. Armel didn't understand how their name suggested they were gods, it sounded like nonsense to him. However, if this race of his was the "oldest" then this man was indeed powerful along with arrogant. It was best to have him as an ally for his queen rather than an enemy.
Armel removed his hand from his sword's hilt and clasped both hands behind his back. He remained vigilant for threats outside of those involved in the conversation between his queen and this Arahitogami.

Kakumei turned his head slightly, looking at the one known as Armel. "I am sorry for making you uneasy. If you ever want to have a friendly sparring match some time, I would be honored. I want to see the change of martial arts and magic abilities and all that stuff over the past few thousand years. I've read lots of books on it."
He smiled softly. "Oh, and aside from my wife, Shirou, and my son Yue, don't ever trust an Arahitogami..."

Amaya began to walk in the same direction as before, but more slowly, showing the man could follow if he chose. The oldest known? Amaya hadn't left the bears much since childhood, and so had only heard of most races, not seen them. This one she hadn't even heard whispers of. "Forgive me if I'm being intrusive, but what exactly makes you unique? It is clear you are strong, and you say your race should not be trusted. Why is that?"
She knew it was unfair of her to ask these questions without offering any information about her own kind. She expected to be told so, but still she asked. It was her job to find out what she could, and she was curious as well.

Armel stared at the strange man and did not reply to his offer. A friendly sparring match would end with Armel dead. The polar bear knew he was no match for this man, this Arahitogami. If he fought with this man at a quarter of his strength, Armel would be humiliated and unfit to protect his queen. However, befriending this man would prove useful. In the case Armel could not properly protect his queen and fulfill his duties, the Arahitogami could do it, even if it was out of supposed friendship.
But the polar bear still did not trust him, not really. Until they shared memories of combat and comradeship, gone through Hell and back, he could not trust this person, but his queen very well could if he proved loyal to her. If he was loyal, he would have enough of Armel's trust. However, until that time came, Armel would be cautious out of loyalty to his queen. All living beings were enemies until they had his queen's approval.

Kakumei followed along, happy to indulge such questions. "Hmm... Great questions... Great questions..." He tapped his thumb to his lip a bit in thought. "Well, to start, we have a unique physiology. We have Ceramic Steel bones that take many years to grow. Of course, we have tighter bound muscles to support the weight that it comes with. Our skin is pretty smooth but tough, and we can't be scarred. However, the drawback is that healing is a very slow process. Very... very slow..." He pulled up the sleeve of his shirt on his lift arm, showing wrapped up bandages that looked pretty old. "I've been nursing this cut I got for about two months now. It's not serious by any means, but it's going to be probably another month before it completely heals." Kakumei pulled down the sleeve again. He thought a bit to himself again for a moment. "Oh, right. Magic. As far as I know, we are the only race who can interact with energy particles called Nyctions. They allow us to use magic pretty effectively, though generally we are stuck to just one to two types of elements because of it. Mine specifically are water-based and chaos-based." He looked in the air a bit as he walked. "Oh and our blood. Its called Ichor. It's hard to explain it in basics, but we can't be poisoned, drugged, or drunken. Our blood blocks these things from happening. It's generally silver colored, and seems to burn or cause serious harm to demonic or undead sorts of creatures. Why? I don't really know..."
"As for the rest of the Arahitogami..." His eyes narrowed a bit, a look of frustration on his face. "Recently, our leaders were overthrown. Some of the Arahitogami completed a nasty coup that really shifted the tides of power within the whole civilization. I tried to fight back, being the Commandant of the previous leaders, but I ended up getting kicked out...so yeah..."

Amaya listened as the man spoke, becoming interested. He could be an important ally indeed. "So despite your slow healing, your kind must be very strong, and skilled fighters, I would imagine." She commented, shooting a look at Armel. He should see the value in a friendship with this man, just as she did. "Was it your own people who managed to give you that cut?" she asked, lifting a hand to point at his wound. Again, she knew she was being demanding and rude, but she wanted to know, and he seemed eager and glad to answer her questions.
She waited to listen to more of what he had to tell, and asked her other questions. "Are you born knowing how to manipulate Nyctions, or must you be taught? Can someone outside your kind be taught to use them or even sense them? And what exactly does the chaos element allow you to do?" Water she could guess at, but she was unsure about the other. As for their blood, that seemed a handy tool and self-defense. She wishes her people had that.
The politics of leadership she knew well, and nodded her head as he spoke of the shift of power. "Where do they reside, and where their others kicked out aside from yourself and your family?"
Suddenly, she frowned very slightly. "Here I am being very rude. I have asked you much and offered you nothing in return. My name is Amaya, and I am Queen of my people." She wouldn't say who her people were quite yet, this was enough. She wore no crown to speak of, but the way she carried herself made her recognizable to most as someone of importance.
[Wow, Arahitogami are really cool! ]

Armel gripped his hands, restraining them so he would do nothing foolish in the presence of his queen and this Arahitogami. The man took delight from answering his queen's questions and did not hesitate to reveal his injury to his queen, a complete stranger. This man had no reason to fear any person he met unless it was one of his own. He was a dangerous man and needed to be kept close for the sake of his queen, but far enough away where he would never think of harming her. If the Arahitogami's own people, after their violent coup, would banish him, he was most definitely a dangerous man. I will protect my queen at whatever the costs, he thought as he caught his sovereign's gaze. She wanted friendship from this Arahitogami and Armel would ensure that friendship despite his worries.
So long as his queen and the Arahitogami remained on good terms, Armel would no interfere.

"Yes, those of us who choose a path of fighting tend to be pretty good. Many don't though, preferring different life styles."After answering, he chuckled at the question regarding his wound. "Oh this... My brother actually. We were testing the limits of our battle prowess and I got greedy. I used my arm to stop his sword so I could punch him in the head. Against other Arahitogami, it would probably have knocked them out. My brother... Hard headed..."
He waited out with a kind smile as he heard her other questions. Soon after, he responded. "Nyctions are something that each one of our people learn to manipulate on our own. For some, they can do it from young ages. Others, it can take there entire life. On average, I would say that most have pretty capable abilities with Nyction manipulation by the end of the teenage years." After that he took a moment to think. "Honestly, I have never heard of any other race interacting or being aware of Nyctions. I believe some of our scholars have said that they think it has to do with either our unique blood or brain chemistry that allows us the awareness of these particles, but after thousands of years of study we really aren't sure. As for Chaos... Hm, how do I explain? The Element of Chaos is manipulating energy in its rawest form. For me, I can take basic energy within my palms, and cause it to become unstable. If I open my fists, it becomes volatile with the air and causes a chained explosion. If I hit certain solid objects, they can crack, break, shatter or even disintegrate. Its a very imperfect skill of mine, so I have to be careful with what I try to do. But the best way to describe Chaos would be, the way energy is used to interact with solid objects. The harder the object, that is to say... The more tightly compact the molecules, the more dangerous and adverse the reaction will be. Its like a... pseudo magic."
Kakumei got lost in a daze for a minute at the question of his people. "Deep under ground... Long ago, our ancestors were hunted by Elves, who sought to show us they were a more powerful race. War is always bad for our people, as it takes so long for each child to grow. Elves aren't hindered by this, and they quickly outnumbered us. For being decedents of Arahitogami... They were really nasty at one point. Anway, we have lived deep under ground for a very long time, coming up only to observe the outside world." He though a minute again about the other refugees. "If I had to guess, they are still underground, but a bit closer to the surface. The world beneath the surface is much larger than anyone realizes. Plenty of places to hide."
Seeing the queen frown and talk a moment made him smile. He found her to be quite interesting, and was pleased that someone would be so intrigued by his people. "No, no, think nothing of it. A queen is like a royal leader of her people or kind, correct? I hope that I haven't been rude or anything. I don't often have the opportunity to interact with anyone on the surface, and I have much to learn about the cultures of the people here." Kakumei gave a pleasant and respectful bow to her as he walked, trying to show gratitude at the conversation that she was giving him.
(Well I appreciate that. I have a few races that I have created that I have lots of information on. The Arahitogami though are my favorite, and I have about 120 pages of all sorts of details on them. Physiology, Magic Abilities, Ancestry, Culture, etc. You could really say I have too much going on in my head. XD)

[ Sounds like me! I create too many characters for my own good, write out information for species, have a comic, and have been writing a book for 6 years now. My brain is go, go go! ]
Interesting, Amaya thought to herself as she listened. She had to admit, she found this man and his people very intriguing, aside from a possible ally. However, she would also have to be careful. His people were powerful, and if she made friends with one they banished from them, she didn't want to face their wrath because of a relationship with him.
She laughed softly at his comment about his hard-headed brother. "I understand that well, I know many with thick skulls, literally and figuratively." It was interesting to learn about all their abilities, and she was especially fascinated by the Nyctions and the Chaos magic he could use. She had always been somewhat intrigued my magic, as something her people couldn't use, and were only gifted to change forms. And she made a mental note of the mention of underground places to live, storing that information away. She may need it one day.
"Yes, somewhat. In my kind, a leader isn't chosen based on bloodline or divine right to rule as it is in many. We earn it through strength. I defeated the last King and Queen in combat, and so their throne falls to me, as the strongest." She explained. "It's a bit precarious, and in some cases our leadership can change hands quite rapidly, but it ensures we have the best leaders. As for being rude, do not worry. You have turned out to be quite pleasant to chat with." Amaya was pleased as he offered a slight bow as well.
However, as much as she was enjoying this chat, she did need to find some place to rest, if she was going to be up and about in the daylight hours. "Armel, it doesn't seem as if this road has anywhere to sleep, but I think there may be a map up ahead. We will check that, and head to the first place of rest we can spot from it."
