Jason was feeling like absolute s**t. It wasn't just from the dehydration or the lack of food either, as he had realized there was something seriously wrong with him.
He was not supposed to have green veins threading all over his skin.
They weren't supposed to be sprouting red flowers either.
He wanted to scream and cry for help but he still couldn't find it in him to go back to base. What if something happened to Chel and Nora while he was gone? Even if he didn't trust him it was his job to defend them
"I'll s-stay back.." He mumbled, hoping they wouldn't notice the dark bruises under his skin as well as the green and red invader in his body.

Alright. Last day. Don't say nothing can go wrong, but be optimistic. Tomorrow morning you'll be back on the island where it isn't scorching hot and you're not looking like a lobster after a few hours despite gobs of sunscreen.
But Nora's luck liked to flip flop: capturing the horseman was all well and good, but this time on her patrol she ran across another underground stone wall cavern.
And this time the bodies were a lot more aggressive.

And she learned in the worst possible way that the freckled phenomenon from before was not a hallucination, but a terrible fact. Not just freckles, but the same clear eyes, the stretch of blank skin beginning to curve into a familiar grin, hair sprouting from the scalp.
Nora was a fighter. She managed to knocked down several of her pursuers as she ran, but the nest here was too complex, too filled with these wannabe clones. They swarmed her in minutes, and the hum of her weapon grew dimmer along with her vision, until only her own disapproving look was reflected back at her--pinpricks of blue eyes fading into darkness.
Well, Nora thought wildly as she went unconscious, at least I look cute while dying.

Chel could see the tiredness on Jason's face when she returned to the camp. The sun was getting low and Chel still hadn't seen any sign of Nora. "I'm ... I'm gonna go look for Nora. I'm worried she fell into that cave pit thing."
After a little bit of search and rescue, Chel did indeed find Nora, but not the way she expected. The bodies and skeletons were gone, and there was one naked a** sun lying exposed in the middle of the cave. She grimaced, expecting to find the girl was dead (after all, surviving with no clothes? Very slim chances), but was relieved to see that the girl's chest was still rising.
She took a moment or two to admire (what) and then began pulling her coat off her sleeves. It took a bit of finesse, but after much dead weight moving, Chel finally got it wrapped around the girl. She would have to remember to thank whoever made the coats later for giving her such a long trailing coat.
Nora was very much unconscious, and Chel knew that she was going to have to carry the dead weight out. After much movement, she hefted the girl onto her back, and began the very slow deliberate grunt work of moving the body back to the camp. Once returned, she set Nora on the table and said, "Found her in that cave. Don't look under the coat. She's naked as a ******** baby." She knew that Jason would have all kind of self-resentments if he looked, considering how panicked he'd been at just a single kiss.
A waterbottle was sitting on the table and Chel was all too happy to grab it and drink every last drop. It was then that she noticed Jason's skin crawling with green markings. "Holy s**t. We are going home. Like now."
She reached for her pocket to grab her pendant, only to blank for a few moments. Ah that's right! Nora had her coat on. She dug through the pockets (sorry Nora) and pulled out the pendant, creating their portal back home. Nora was then lifted over Chel's shoulder and she looked to Jason. "Come on. We gotta get that s**t checked out and Nora needs to not die."

Jason was supposed to have been looking after the horsemen, but he hadn't moved from his resting spot. Either from pure exhaustion or being too frightened to move, he himself was unsure which.
"N-no...Must stay here.." He mumbled. "Too...d-dangerous.."
Slowly he pushed himself out of bed, shaking and looking at everyone and everything. The comment about Nora's nakedness was ignored as he lumbered towards and through the portal, bright red and black patches covering his skin where the flowers had bloomed underneath it.
