The temptation was too much. Despite herself and against common sense she really wanted to know more about these two, specially Salil. She cleared her throat to stop their bickering. Flushing slightly she said, "Well... Salil tried to tease me, that's all that happened." She obviously left out what kind of teasing it entitled and what happened after that, but she was hoping Hijiki would be satisfied with her story.

Hijiki rolled his eyes. "Well, obviously. He's always teasing people." His gaze went to Salil. "But something was different this time; otherwise, Jellin over here wouldn't be so pensive and bothered as to be distracted enough to let you speak first."
Salil opened his mouth to object, then closed it again. It was true... he was distracted. What happened at the end of that... flirtation shouldn't have happened.
"But at the same time, he also succeeded in some way, as you're about as red as a tomato, Serenne," Hijiki added. "So. What happened? Detailed explanations get you detailed stories."

No matter what Hijiki said, Serenne just could not bring herself to say anything further. She looked at Salil who seemed just as uncomfortable with this whole business. "Hijiki! It's not nice to pressure people into telling you things!" She gave her back to them then, hoping that she succeed in settling that matter.

"Neither is it nice to make me the third wheel here," Hijiki replied flatly. "Especially with something that clearly has Jellin the Unfazed over here troubled." Before Salil could object, he added, "And not just troubled--confused. Salil doesn't get confused."
Salil sighed, glancing away. "I had... a Lapse," he mumbled. "So I can't reply more than to restate what Serenne has already said."
Hijiki frowned. That was... odd. He turned to Serenne. "He said things that didn't sound like the usual him, didn't he?" he asked, almost rhetorically since he was sure of the answer.

"I'm not gonna get out of this without telling you am I?" Serenne asked Hijiki calmly, slowly getting up and walking to a nearby koi fish pond. Gazing at her reflection in the water, it was a little while before she decided how to go by telling him. "Well Hijiki, Salil's brand of Stallion teasing was super effective" She looked at Salil then "Probably even more so than my own brand of teasing I can imagine." When she was done talking she turned back to the Koi fish pond, too embarrassed to turn around. Why she chose to be honest at that time, specially to the one who would be delighted to know that he had won she truly did not know. But if he was truly honest with her once, even if he was pretending not to be, then she would return the favor and be honest with him, even if seemed she wasn't. She really did not know when the teasing stopped being a game and started becoming real, at least in her eyes.

Hijiki looked at Salil, who shook his head. Apparently it wasn't his 'brand of stallion teasing' that was super effective. He sighed as his best friend, looking more troubled than satisfied, got up to pace away from the others. He joined Serenne at the koi pond, watching the fish before speaking. "The thing that was super effective," he began, hoping that it wasn't too awkward. "It wasn't his... 'brand of stallion teasing.' It's something that we've dubbed a Truth Lapse." His green gaze slid from the water to the mare. "Although I've never seen him have one in front of anyone besides me, which is likely why he's sulking over there. He's not accustomed to others seeing him that... vulnerable."
Super effective. Salil had a slight frown on his face as he paced back and forth, trying desperately to remember what exactly he had said. What was it that had Serenne admit that he had... well, seduced her? She'd said something about a game, but that didn't seem like something that would entrance her...

"A... truth lapse? Serenne half whispered half inquired. "What is a truth lapse?" She looked at Hijiki then. That stallion was turning out to have more layers than she thought he had. For some reason she was relieved to hear some of those words he had said were bordering on truth. At least from what she thought the definition of "truth lapse" meant. In the other hand, this was becoming more and more complicated and Salil was withdrawing more and more. "There's nothing wrong with.. being truthful" she whispered absent minded, watching the koi swim by.

Hijiki tried to think of the best way to explain it. "I guess you could say it's like Salil's subconscious bypassing his consciousness. It happens when he does certain types of teasing, though it's only happened around me before this. He starts speaking what's on his mind underneath all the masks and teasing." He smiled sheepishly. "No, there's nothing wrong with being truthful. Salil doesn't like truth lapses because he can't remember what he says during them. It's doubly troubling to him that it happened around you because that suggests that it may start happening more frequently--and around other people."

Serenne did not know whether to be happy Salil had said some kind of truth or angry that he doesn't remember what he said. If it were up to her she would have left that day. Hijiki had asked her to stay however, and for some reason she did. She hoped Salil would get over his little .. lapse issue and go back to is former self. But deep inside, she was really hoping he'd remember.
As the days passed, Serenne waited. Waited for when Salil would remember and come talk to her. But all that was happening was a whole lot of him pretending she wasn't there. She would go into a room, and he would either not recognize the fact that she was there or leave all together. She would pass him in a hallway, and he would just shuffle along like nobody was there. Hijiki, was her only companion, and she was grateful for it. She came to adore the Stallion. As a sister to brother. But Salil... it felt like he wasn't even there. This was not only making her angry, but it was also hurting her. What had she done wrong?
This one day, Serenne was sitting by the koi pond, in deep thought. When Salil entered the room. She looked up expectant.

Salil didn't even realize what he was doing, ignoring Serenne the way he was. He had been deeply immersed in his thoughts for days, struggling to unlock the memories of those words he spoke and this... distressful feeling he had whenever the mare was around. Serenne made him immensely curious, but also severely distracted. Curiosity he was used to, but distraction he wasn't. Why did she do this to him? How was she different from the countless other mares he'd met?
She wasn't like Hijiki, who clearly saw the whole picture that was Salil. But she somehow still pushed all the right buttons to throw him off-guard or create situations that shouldn't have been possible for an outsider like her. Why? How? He couldn't understand it and it frustrated him...
Salil walked past the koi pond without looking toward it, not realizing that Serenne was there while he was in the midst of his endless thoughts.

Her hopes of him breaking his silence and returning to normal had been dashed. Hijiki had told her to be patient with him, and that he would come around. But when will that be? "Enough" She whispered as her eyes became moist. In a blur Serenne got up, rounded and stood in front of Salil.
"Enough Salil!" she shouted as she walked closer to him "I'm here! I'm right here! It has been weeks..WEEKS! How much longer are you going to ignore me? Pretend like I am not there?Treat me like I am invisible?!" She spat, rounding on him once again. "I don't care about this stupid truth lapse, I don't care about a damn mask. You owe me an explanation damn it. I can't believe you forgot what you said to me back then! Just can't!" she turned her back to him.
Taking a few deep breaths, a cold fury spread through her body as a tear ran down her cheek. She turned back to him then and said with a barely controlled voice. "Well, let me remind you of what you said Salil:'I have never met a mare like you, Miss Serenne. You have made me incredibly curious. I apologize if I've made you uncomfortable.I hope you will continue playing this game." she paused for a few seconds "That is what you said... word for word.. and it haunts me to this day..." She looked him in the eyes, "If you no longer wish for me to be here, tell me so, And I will go..."
With that said, Serenne closed her eyes, gave her back to him and started walking out of the room.

Salil nearly jumped at the shout that shattered his mental isolation from his surroundings. His lime green eyes were wide with surprise as he stared at Serenne, her words rushing at him like a river current. For once, his mind went completely blank, giving him nothing to interrupt her with.
The words she repeated back to him felt like a blow to the chest. And when she turned and started to walk away... Something strange happened, something that smacked into him with sudden realization.
Salil was scared.
It took Salil a few stumbling steps before he remembered how to use his feet. He rushed forward with what little speed he had, sliding up beside her and whipping his head in front of her neck so that she couldn't continue forward. His eyes, wide with terror, were perfectly hidden behind his blue bangs. "Don't go." He was surprised at the voice that came from his own vocals; it was almost pitiful-sounding, with how quiet and meek it was. "Please."
He gritted his teeth as his body began to quiver in a humiliatingly uncontrollable manner. Now that Serenne had shaken him from his stupor, he was regaining himself--and his pride aghast at the actions of his moment of weakness. Eyes clenching shut as he became overwhelmingly disgusted with himself, he turned away from the mare, allowing her to more freely choose whether she would stay or go. Salil slowly calmed himself, but he couldn't stop the mild quaking of his frame. Why wouldn't it stop? This was humiliating... Serenne would surely mock him for it. If she was right and he really had been lost in his own head for weeks, then she was likely angry enough to taunt him about it ceaselessly. He deserved it.

One second, Serenne's world had crumbled with each step she took away from him the next second he was there. A different Salil than she had left him. She couldn't see his eyes, but the two words uttered: "don't go" were like a salve for her wounded heart. Her whole body warmed at his touch and her heart fluttered as he walked away from her. How can one stallion be so complex, so impossible, so infuriating,so utterly.. irresistible? Her eyes widened at her own thoughts.
She turned back around, looking at him. She stood there for a moment, then walked back into the room slowly. "I am here, Salil... But you still owe me an explanation."

With those first four words, his fear was swept away, but dread quickly replaced it. "Expla...nation...?" His tongue felt strange. Serenne had said he hadn't spoken to her in weeks... it was likely he hadn't spoken at all. He was lucky his words were clear in any way. His trembling hadn't stopped, frustrating him. He hoped the mare didn't notice. He'd already given her enough teasing material as it was.

Salil was trembling. Serenne did not know why but felt like it was out of place to point it out. Specially when Salil was in no teasing condition. She looked at him exasperated. How can he be so smart and so clueless at the same time? Just more traits to add to the list of opposing traits that was Salil. "Well you can start by why have you been silent all this time? Why have you been ignoring me? How come you don't remember what you said?" She paused"And then if you don't mind, I'd like to know why you said the things you did... now that you know what you said" She smiled meekly.
