Hikaru listened to Arturia explain why she reacted the way she did. He took mental note of what she said. It was interesting to hear about how something that happened so long ago managed to effect her still, he wondered how something like that could happen. He looked out at the field when Arturia did and watched the people move. He never did sports, his parents wouldn't allow it, so he didn't understand the joy of playing them. When Arturia started to talk again he looked over at her.
"I always try to write detailed, but I can understand writing vaguely if you were using your words as your main presentation or your argument and your words as an overall summary. Also I must thank you for your compliment." Hikaru didn't really expected to be complimented but he accepted it. "You gave a rather interesting debate. I'm guessing you have done this before, correct?" This was Hikaru's way of complimenting. he was told that he should compliment someone back when he was complimented, apparently that was the normal thing to do.
Hikaru planned to just leave but before he could even turn away Arturia asked him out for food. He thought the way she worded the question was interesting, it was probably a slang like version of "Do you wish to go out to eat with me?" "I am rather famished. I don't recall eating diner because I was studying for hours. I suppose I can spend a short amount of time out to eat. I'll study the town area while out since I am new to this area."

She had been trained from a young age to recognize a compliment and the gesture that followed. She smiled a bit when Hikaru thanked her for her compliment and immediately recognized his returning gesture. Wonder if he grew up in a family like mine...though my family is full of nut heads... "Writing in detail does make the difference but as you said, using words is usually how I present things. Not always effective...but it is fun. Oh no, the pleasure is mine, and thank you as well. To answer your question, yes, I have done this before...it's not very unusual for debates to occur in my family..you could say I grew up learning it and the different debate styles. Though the past is in the past." Arturia was glad to hear Hikaru would join her for a meal and smiled. She had also figured he would want to study the town layout, shops and stores, considering the type of person she thought he was. She collected her belongings and rejoined Hikaru again, curious about a few things. "Do you normally stay indoors studying often? Hikaru did not respond much to Arturia's first statement about debating since there was not much to comment on, but her last sentence did make him question something. "You say the past is in the past yet it seems to still bother you from time to time. You don't have to talk about it, I don't see any need for you to, I'm just simply pointing out what I have observed."
Hikaru was putting the book he was holding away and the paper given to him by Arturia, not knowing what else to do with it, when questioned about his studying habits. "Well, I also like studying in quiet places outdoors but it seems that quiet places are hard to find in the city. In other words, yes I do study indoors often. I study everywhere I go. There is always more to be learned or I can at least review what I know to keep the knowledge fresh. As for classes I was informed that they start later on, I figured that i shouldn't waste the spare time given to me though. I study to get ahead, it's important to be at the top and this is my first year here, I just made sure to be well informed before coming here. I moved from the country side of Japan, I am familiar with the city setting though since some of my family works in them."

It was true, what he had said, the past was still effecting her despite it being more than 8 years ago that everything seemed to turn into a dark world. She retained a bitter sweet smile, though her eyes clouded with fear, anger, and rebellious emotions. If one had been looking her while she had heard his reply, one would have noticed, though she blinked her eyes a few times, returning them to their mysterious turquoise hue. "Normally I never mention the past when I am speaking with anybody, but with a certain topic that I am at fault for bringing up, the past finds its way to once again effect me. I don't mind what you notice and what you don't, it's just how my persona acts at times. I will tell you one thing about my past though." She had turned to face Hikaru, continuing on, "It is no where near being a normal past compared to anybody. She had said the last sentence with no emotion at all in her voice or eyes and turned away to face the field once again. As she watched the students on the field again, color and emotion returned to her eyes. Arturia normally had a sense of being calm yet intrigued that could be seen in her eyes. She listened to Hikaru, returning her gaze to him when he said he had moved from Japan. As for his study habits, she had assumed correctly as well, though she told herself to stop assuming tings about Hikaru. "Oh, I see. Yes, the city is rather noisy, especially a high school academy like Kuoh. As for getting ahead, that's important to keep in mind regarding academics..I suppose. I used to be like you in middle school..always studying, day and night, getting ahead and eventually skipping a grade. I loved studying but once I enrolled in Kuoh..I..stopped. Quite funny to be honest. I study like any normal student but I ace my tests..quite odd in my personal opinion. Japan you said? I lived there too before enrolling in Kuoh. Hikaru didn't say anything throughout Arturia's conversation with him about her past. He saw no point in commenting on her past, especially when he knew so little about it. He knew that some people tried to relate their past to the past of others but he didn't see the point in doing that either.
Once the conversation moved on to being about Kuoh then Hikaru found some things to comment about. "Well no matter how smart someone is I think that they should always study, they should even study stuff that they already know. It keeps the mind fresh with information and keeps it busy."

Hikaru got slightly distracted by the loud noises coming from near the entrance. He looked off the roof and saw a group of people, probably all arguing. Hikaru wasn't ignoring Arturia though, he listened to her while watching the teens argue.
"Fun? I never said that studying was fun, it's just what I choose to do to occupy my time. It's better than wasting brain cells doing something meaningless like playing games." Hikaru looked back at Arturia while talking, knowing that it was rude to avoid eye contact while speaking. The whole time he was emotionless, never cracking a smile or changing his expression in anyway.
"There's no need to avoid your question but if you truly regret those words then I won't answer you, although if you truly regret it then you shouldn't have asked to begin with." Any question Hikaru asked he stood by but he rarely asked questions, if he had any he'd look up the answer in a book most likely. "Also, I don't find this conversation weird...it is longer than most conversations I have though which is different. As for the matter of where we eat I remember reading about a nice cafe near here. There's also a fast food establishment in this city but I loathe greasy and fattening foods and therefore refuse to eat them."

Not like I asked him if he thought it was fun..though he's quite an interesting person.. "Aside from thinking you waste your time by not studying and playing foolish games, have you ever just enjoyed being in nature? Or just do some of your work while sitting in the nice cool shade of a tree? It's relaxing but provides you a nice work environment. I never said studying had to be fun, that was just my own personal opinion." Arturia smiled when she finished and laughed a bit at Hikaru's next comment. She thought he had an interesting way of saying things. "I don't regret anything I say, ever. I usually do try to be considerate and not ask seemingly odd questions to whomever the question is directed to. Do tell me your answer then, if you don't mind that is. Oh? Is it now? I suppose I must be one noisy and bothersome person to have been honored to converse with you then."Arturia smiled and walked over to stand by the door to the stairs. She leaned against the wall and figured going to a cafe would be better than a fast food restaurant."Well, cafe it is then. "I thought I said earlier how I like to read and study outside when I can, however the city provides little opportunity to do such. To many people rushing around and with them is so much noise." Hikaru replied.
When Arturia suddenly laughed Hikaru became confused. He didn't see how this situation was very comical.
Once Arturia suggested that Hikaru thought she was annoying he shook his head. Hikaru wasn't very familiar with sarcasm and jokes, he took everything seriously. "If you annoyed me I would have left by now or I would have told you so with a different choice of words. Anyway, yes, we should indeed be heading off. I would like to leave and get back before evening comes."

Hikaru had analyzed Arturia and thought of her as an odd girl. She was smart, he agreed, but she didn't seem exstordinary in anyway. The only thing that interested him about her was his at times she seemed very similar to himself.
Hikaru stared at Arturia blankly for a moment then walked to the door. "Ladies first. " He said standing near her. Even though he didn't feel much he had a sense of manners.
When the word 'friends' was said Hikaru looked down. "Friends?" It seemed like that word seemed foreign to him. Hikaru of course knew what the definition of a friend was, he just didn't see the point in having them.

"Well, there is no exact answer as to what a friend would be like. It all depends on the personality of each individual friend and closely you have bonded with them." Even without ever having friends Hikaru knew this from observing other interact with there peers and so called friends.
Once Arturia went inside the building he shut the door and followed her down the stairs. He stopped when she turned around to look at him. The sudden question she asked made him think for a moment, but not for long. Hikaru shook his head and said, "No, I don't have a special friend back at home. I have peers and people that I will occasionally socialize with at events, but I believe those are dubbed as acquaintances. Honestly, I see no point in making friends. All I need are my books and a top rate education and once I begin working maybe I'll need some businesses partners for my own personal benefit. I don't see how friends can benefit me. What do they have to offer other than cheap entertainment?."

From her standpoint she somewhat understood what a friend was but never truly had had any friends due to her past life. Hikaru really didn't see how his responses were strange or funny. They may not be what an average person would say but Hikaru liked to think that he was way above average. He thought of himself as superior to other people his age and even those who were older he sometimes thought were below him.
"You laugh about strange matters, and as for having a special person I already told you that I don't have one. I have rarely ever socialized with someone my age before unless they were the children of business partners to my family. Since I was about 5 I believe my parents had surrounded me with work and books so I have had no time to attempt to make friends and over years I have just simply lost interest in the matter. Anyway shall we get going?"
Hikaru said before walking back down the stairs with Arturia. They left the school grounds and off to the cafe they went.
