Off he went again. Determined to get this down, Shun went back swinging through the trees, weaving in and out of them. This time around, he managed to avoid most of them, though he still ended up coming in too close to a couple of trees, grazing against them. Even so, it was still an improvement from his previous attempts.

There were aches, and creaks, and groans, and moans from the trainee's who had passed the last test in the previous week. Bruises were still present, and ripening from the bludgeoning they'd received from gaining some experience with using the 3DMG, and making their acquaintance with numerous trees. Dr. Gru had his hands full with quite a few patients who had suffered the unpleasantries of such rigorous training. But the patient doctor got those in need all patched up for the next bought of brutal work! It was safe to say that the crew of greenhorns were a bit worn down.. but there was no rest for the weary! well, not a whole lot, at least. It was on to the next weeks testing!
As the trainess dragged themselves to the field to meet their instructors for what was on the agenda, many were given a jolt from the booming voice that carried over even the furthest of distances... most likely the reason for why a flock of birds suddenly burst from a clump of trees, too. It was Baldy, no doubt about it. Barking at the sluggish members taking too long for his liking to join with those that were already there, a pep was seen in the steps of some of them, while a couple even stumbled from the shock. But eventually, everyone was round up. Standing at the massive mans side was Gazelle, her blank, disinterested expression staring into the crowd of the students, but at no one in particular.
The speech given was your typical sort from the impressive giant that was Santos, powerful voice unable to be unheard by anyone in the vicinity of the camps territory, emotions both contradicting and unnerving to the words spoken, laced with a flare to them that was able to make one feel unsettled and... probably a bit confused. However the gist was there. Two elongated, steel blades were torn out of the rectangle cartridges resting on either of his thighs, the shaped metal gleaming and shining under the caress of the suns rays. Gazelle gave a mild berth to the boisterous instructor, who proceeded in a series of thrusts, swings, jabs, and slashes with the dual blades. Orders of the detailed variety were shouted throughout... in essence showing the youths what sorts of key moves they should be practicing.
Stopping suddenly, with a dramatic pose to boot, Santos slowly gathered himself, and smoothed a large calloused hand over his glistening skull, as though smoothing back luscious locks... before the yelling resumed. The trainee's were to be split into pairs to work on their swordsmanship, and help one another execute their form, from what'd been witnessed by the great Baldy. He would walk around, keeping tabs, as well as performing further examples of the various moves. Not only that, but the weight, length, and the art of dual wielding were traits that the young bloods needed to be accustomed to.
-----------------------------------------------
Once the basics of the blade dancing was grasped, and the participants were able to have a better feel for handling them, they would be then given the attention of Gazelle. Further off to the side, there were a couple of benches out, all containing small boxes with small tubs of cleaners, and cloths. Arms folded behind her back, she stood at attention, giving clear instruction to the arm-weary soldiers in training. Their gear was of grave importance, another extension of their own bodies, and thus required annual upkeep to remain in tip top condition.
Gazelle performed a demonstration of how to carefully and perfectly check each part of ones 3DMG, and what to look for should something be awry. And of course how to fix it. She held a sort of tenderness to the way she cleaned every nook and cranny flawlessly, thoroughly, and without hesitation; clearly showing her experience. And while she may have held her usual bland, emotionless tone of voice, there was definitely evidence of her dedication towards caring for her equipment.
Straightening up, her attention veered to her pupils, as an arm extended in gesture for them to take part in it as well. The blades, gas cylinders, operating device, and body of the device, along with anything that interacted with the gear had to be always perfect, eagerly awaiting to be used by their human partners.
Week 3 Guidelines-For this week you will have an RP partner. In order to pass, you will simply need to interact with them for both portions of the testing: blade work, and gear upkeep. At the top of your posts, please indicate which portion you are on with either [ Blades ] or [ Matienence . Just so I can identify easier. -You have a week to respond to both portions, anything later will not be accepted. -Please only post your character if they've gotten this far along. -Please PM me with any questions! Ends August 3rd at 11:59PM EDT PairsAlec + Elanore Farvardin + Shakuntala Axel + Shun + Mykanos { sorry I'm an extra. ;c }

[Blades]Shun still wasn't completely happy with how well he was handling maneuvering, but it was time to move onto other things for now. He'd have to get in more practice later on when he had the chance. The current lessons were all important as well, after all. First up, was the bladework. It was a little foreign to him. The swords were considerably longer than the knives he'd typically use if he had a weapon. And such, he paid close attention to the instructor. He turned his attention to Axel and Mykanos briefly, given how he was supposed to work with them, but soon shifted his focus on executing his form.

Shakuntala slid a nervous eye to the parring blades. They were better fixed on a workbench rather than wielded in one's hands, in her honest opinion. The idea of losing a finger or even an eye to the thin weapons sent a jolt of fear up her mind. She favor the portion of the exam she was most familiar with -- the repairs -- instead of practicing instead.
Hustling over to Farvardin, she gave the familiar happy-go-lucky girl a bashful wave. "S-should we get... started?" she asked gently, motioning over to the bins of replacement parts. "O-or if you want... We could... W-we could practice..." Though her face spoke volumes of her desire not to just yet.

Axel was no swordfighter. The most impressive knife he had ever held was a steak knife. He held the two swords dubiously, at arm's length, as though they might suddenly flail out of control and hit him in the face. So far everything else he'd trained with had hit him in the face at some point.
After watching Shun's movements for a moment, Axel waved the blades around feebly and nearly dropped one on his foot.
"Are we pretending to whack a Titan or something?" Axel asked Shun and Mykanos.

Mykanos was no stranger to blades of varying sorts, being from a family of hunters. However the ones at their disposal now were unlike any he'd ever handled... not to mentioned dual handed! This would be a most interesting skill to master.
With a sword in either hand, he slowly moved his arms around himself, testing the weight of the metal, as well as the reaction it held with his movements. Looking to those that were to be his partners in practicing, he gave a respectful nod of acknowledgement to both men, before taking his own turn to swiping the air with one arm at a time to begin with. It felt odd when he incorporated the second arm, feeling as though it were lagging behind the other. Surely that wasn't right...
Axel's question made him glance over as he took pause, mulling the words over more thoroughly probably than need be, before responding, "getting to know them first, I'd guess." he made a gestured eyeing to the blades in his own hands. Though... who knew how titans were to be fought. Certainly not him!

[Maintenance]Farvardin watched Baldy do his blade show. Hearing what they were to do she turned to her partner. She grinned at the bashful girl and nodded. "Sure we can do the maintenance! I think my gear could use it before we start the blade practice. We can also do maintenance afterwards to get more practice at it." She grabbed Shakuntala by the arm and dragged her over to Gazelle and the bins. "Okay let's get started! Um... what do we do?" She looked at Shakuntala with her head cocked, "Oh.. should I call you Shakuntala or is there something else you prefer?"

Shakuntala fixed herself on her feet from her slight stumble from being dragged. Clearing her throat a bit, she looked over the myriad of bits and pieces and opened her mouth to speak. Her lips hovered ajar for a second before she clamped them shut. Where would they begin? She didn't want to admit that, while she did attend a class with Gazelle on how to fix the blades, she hardly paid attention. Scratching the side of her cheek, she turned to Farvardin, and instead gave in to her second question.
"A-anything... works," she replied. "Most... M-most call me Tala, though..."
Skipping introductions on her behalf, she thought back to her time at the class and recalled how she had put the handle together. Well, she was at least familiar with that part. Plucking one of the grips from a bin, she held it out to Farvardin, and said, "L-let's... start with the, um, handles..."

[Maintenance]Farvardin looked over all the bins and then glanced up at Gazelle. Maybe she should have gone to that class. She looked at Tala and nodded. "Tala. That's nice and short." She said taking the grip, "Hm... I certainly have no clue what I'm doing. Haha.. ha... ha.... sigh..... Man do you know what we're supposed to do? Or should we flagged Gazelle down?" Farvardin was lucky she knew how to strap on the gear. ((Side note: That chibi of Tala is adorable!))

[Blades]"Do something enough and it becomes second nature... This should just be the beginning," Shun muttered in response. While he did reply, he didn't look towards his partners. He was trying to keep his concentration up so that he didn't end up slipping and cutting himself, or anything along those lines.

The girl was brimming with the desire to know what she was doing, but at the same time, she was clueless as her work partner, Farvardin. Shakuntala's maroon eyes shot everywhere; from the bins, to Gazelle, back to the grip in her hand, to the bins, and then finally returning to the grip. Nabbing a screwdriver, she unwound the screws on the handle and took it apart gently.
"T-this is the most... I know..." she replied rather ashamedly. "Um, i-if you want to? Some... S-some help would be... good."
((Thanks~))

[Maintenance]Farvardin was silent for a few minutes as she watched her partner do the maintenance on the grips. She then grabbed a screwdriver and copied what she saw. "Okay... We can start here and finish up these....mmmm come on.... okay! Oh.. yeah we can finish the grips and then get some help." She had some trouble getting her handle apart but managed to get it apart without sending everything flying. "So we just replace the old grip with the new and put it back together?"

[Blades]Axel laughed at Mykanos's words. "I don't know if I want to get to know them." He didn't feel comfortable with razor sharp weapons in his hands, things meant for hurting. These particular swords weren't meant to hurt humans (at least, hopefully not) but they still bothered him. He frowned at the swords, trying to imagine that they were something else. Some kind of useful tool. Shovels, perhaps, or ploughshares. Nodding at Shun's comments, Axel resigned himself to swinging the swords around. He felt foolish and ungainly, but the dark-haired man was right. Eventually, he would get used to handling the things. Axel swished the swords through the air one after the other, careful not to get near any of the others.

Another glance was spared Shun's way. The guy was absolutely right. With enough repetition of properly executed movements, they would get the hang of this so it would become as simple as any other ability they'd mastered. However this did give Mykanos a moment of curiosity to wriggle into his mind. Would these skills every come to being useful...? There'd been peace for so long, and only those in the Survey Corps really saw any action.
the Survey Corps....
Flirting long enough with the questions and ideas, he pulled his focus back into the task at hand, adjusting the way he threw his weight around, making a diligent effort for his non-dominant arm to keep up with his primary. It was an interesting sensation, how the blades seemed to take off on their own, leading about his already long appendages. It was like they had a life of their own... There was the occasional sound of clinking from the blades crossing, or bumping one another, not quite in sync of course. But it was like a dance almost, the way everyone had to move with these instruments of destruction... Imagine hunting with these things.
Hearing Axel, Mykanos took another spot of a break, looking over to watch either of his partners in their attempts. Both seemed on opposite sides of the spectrum when it came to this challenge. Observing the two, he tried to pick up on some of Shun's movements, and how he was handling the blades. "Seems to be part of the job." he calmly, and casually eventually replied with for Axel, in a most delayed fashion. Perhaps this one wasn't fond of the ways of battle?

[Blades]Shun couldn't help but scoff lightly at Axel's comment. "You should. It might be all that stands between you and some shithead titan one of these days," he remarked. He still kept his gaze ahead as he spoke, as it was taking a fair bit of effort and focus to try and get each of the movements down right. It didn't feel natural yet, but he was determined to change that in all due time. His arms were beginning to tire out, however. The man didn't really want to stop training here, but he knew the three of them needed to get on with maintenance work eventually.
