Much Ado... Troll: Dictys Glauci I chose option: 2
Gerbil fashion! This was clearly the best part of volunteering (unless they were filming televised advertising spots later on, but Dictys didn't dare hope - Chittentown was so low-class). A little grin emerged on Dictys' face as ey considered eir options. Their first thought was a wetsuit, because obviously the water was where all trolls dreamed of ending up (that and space, of course - and modern spacesuits, of course, did bear striking resemblance to wetsuits...). But the problem was, well, Dictys was really not a tailor. So ey went for the next best thing: a harness. Now this was an item of fashion even Dictys would have no trouble wearing. So what if it had strange subservient implications? Harnesses were gorgeous, molded the body, and Dictys was a seadweller: there was no way anyone could mistake em for a work animal. Or Laureate: Laureate would be sleek, beautiful, and quick. Like a true winner.

This gerbil's gonna get RIPPED... Troll: Lunear Reglos Today's training regimen: The Tubes
More tubes, more booty work by both Gabiel and Marian. back and forth, up and down, they scooted around like the gerbils they were occasionally poking out or attempting to give Lunear the most pathetic eyes in hopes to curb his insistence they toughen up.
But Lunear was a cruel gerbil King. They had to train. Next time with music.
It was purely logical. And fashionable. Tiny gerbils who spent their lives underground were not the most suited to racing under the harsh conditions of an above ground track. There was wind, photos and flashing lights, and just something no defenseless gerbil should ever have to see, (like the clashing colors of SOME gerbils racer banners). No, to Lunear, Marian and Gabiel deserved only the best of the best and the best was with cute, colorful, sleek and sophisticated, fully functioning gerbil goggles. Granted they kinda looked a bit silly, but really now- what didn't?
Gerbils didn't naturally wear anything after all, the bold little nudists they were.

Much Ado... Troll: Ephias I chose option: #2
My volunteering total: 1 My current grand total: 1
Ephias looked at the pile of wriggling, squirming rodents. Somehow, he was supposed to help these gerbils race with effective sportswear... and make look charming. He frowned slightly. He did not have a great sense for aesthetic appeal, especially not when it came to gerbils. How did one go about making a gerbil look good?
With a sigh, Ephias decided to ignore that particular aspect for the moment. First, he would focus on improving their racing ability. The answer to that was easy at least. Some of the gerbils were a bit... weighty and if he could secure some of their girth away from their legs they might be able to run a bit faster. Maybe. Ephias certainly hoped so. Grabbing a notebook and a pencil, Ephias began to sketch out a design for a simple harness.

This gerbil's gonna get RIPPED... Troll: Kursha Today's training regimen: the wheel
My training total: 10 My current grand total: 10
The training the previous night had not gone very well, but Kursha was not one to give up so easily. Snatching the same gerbil –or at least what he thought was the same gerbil–Kursha brought it over to the wheel. They could return to the tubes when the critter was a bit more fit. This would help to build its stamina at the very least.
Kursha urged the gerbil into the wheel, the creature obliged his demands. It began at a slow trot. Irritated, the greenblood prodded at it. The gerbil quickly adjusted its pace. Folding his arms, Kursha watched. There would be no slacking off while he was on duty.

They were off to a good start. Kursha nodded approvingly. The wheel rattled noisily against the cage wall as the gerbil put in its very best effort.

Kursha grinned. Already he could see an improvement. Perhaps yesterday's training had went better than he thought. Pleased, he began to cheer the gerbil on. Maybe he would the critter a treat later.

This gerbil's gonna get RIPPED... Troll: Kursha Today's training regimen: the wheel
My training total: 22 (1+3) My current grand total: 22
This gerbil was really flying. Its little legs were spinning like a row of windmills in a hurricane. Kursha was starting to feel impressed. Of course he did not show it. His trainee needed to work harder if it really wanted to earn his respect.

The gerbil raced on faster! The wheel was rattling even more noisily than before. Kursha worried that it was going to fly off.

Kursha was amazed. This creature had only continued to speed up. Perhaps it had discovered a passion for running.

The gerbil was beginning to slow down. Kursha could finally see the little scrabbling paws again. He watched intensely. Perhaps this signified the end of their training.

This gerbil's gonna get RIPPED... Troll: Kursha Today's training regimen: the wheel
My training total: 41 (Bust!) My current grand total: 41
The gerbil came to a stop, sides heaving. Gingerly, almost with reverence, Kursha lifted it out of the wheel. As he carried it away, he stroked its head. He had a whole new appreciation for gerbil kind. "That was good work today," he told it. "Now, let's see if we can get you a reward for all your effort..." He wandered off in search of gerbil treats.
A cough, Lunear arrived to the sale pitching location. His tiny slides and his 'examples' ready. Pointer brought out, he took a deep breath. Thank goodness he'd practiced in the mirror no less than 20 times.
"An idyllic scene. Gerbils, nude, colorless, rolling in the sand dunes, playing in hives and lawn rings and getting into piles and general- being their cute adorable selves. Yes...then watch as the gerbils start to gather, cute faces blurring into one gerbil mash of nothing but adorableness." Lunear drew up a crude copy past drawing of a bunch of copycat gerbils pasted onto each other. "Nothing to tell them apart, no way to tell who's gerbil belongs to who- and what would be worse than having your beloved gerbil stolen, by someone who simply might think our loveable friend is without a hive! But then-" He slammed his tiny pointer to a new series of slides, the doodle of a product with an amazed troll looking on- it cycled in a crude animated form.
Text up top: Introducing the new Middle: Curbil Bottom: For all your gerbil coloring needs!
"May I present: CURBIL! Gerbil fur and skin dye! Based on our own hemospecrum, colors range from the rustiest of reds to the most fabulous of fuchsias. With hue and shade additives, (for additional purchase of course), as well as tinters and toners, any color under the moons is possible. Match your own blood, dye in sleek combos to represent your flushed feelings, maybe even dye your gerbil with colors to get that black rom revved up. Or perhaps you just want to color them up for your favorite home team or to celebrate a special occasion! The non toxic dye is perfect for our rolly-polly pals, and not only add a touch of personality, but help signal to the world, just how unique and special your multi-limbed friend really is." The tiny chest of the blue blood puffed with pride, having done all the graphics and speech on his own. With hardly (a lot) of help from batbro.
"Think about it- not only do you get to appeal to the fear of losing your gerbil to those of an untrained eye, but to the appeal of creativity and security. And to top it off, the base product, the color itself, to change would require those little additions to get JUST the right color. And with the color being temporary? Re-buy value is high. Profit would be vast. Metalics, neon-'mutant mock up', pattern applicators, special brushes, special washing tools to remove the color in record time for on the go gerbil color trends. You could start a color of the season. I mean really- the beetles would be flying to the bank. You'd need to be broken in the thinkpan to pass this kind of product line up."
Standing awkwardly as he ended in silence, Lunear shuffled in place before boweing, thanking the company for it's time, then absconding the scene.

Much Ado... Troll: Didero Salons I chose option: 2
My volunteering total: 2
Once again Didero's efforts were met with less-than-spectacular results. At least this last time he wasn't completely blind-sided by his own failure.
Such thoughts didn't provide Didero much comfort. What would provide Didero comfort, would be a success acknowledged by the folks at NummCorp. And maybe a hot chocolate. That sounded really nice, actually.
An exercise in gerbil stylization, meanwhile, was right up Didero's alley. He was excited to receive the request from the NummCorp. employees. This time around Didero would provide the gerbils with something a little more practical. Harnesses sounded about right. More importantly, they were an accessory the little rodents would have a hard time chewing up...
This gerbil's gonna get RIPPED... Troll: Sinter Heilig Today's training regimen: THE WHEEL OF FIRE
My training total: 9
Sinter was really nervous at the sudden intensity change of their usual equipment. His gerbils didn't seem nearly appropriately concerned enough about their surroundings, which Sinter reluctantly took as a good sign. Sinter wasn't one for backing out, and this was the only equipment his gerbils were familiar with... Perhaps it was the most reasonable decision to set the little guys on this thing?
