The doctor continued, finally deigning to acknowledge Wyatt, "You're free to go, but do understand that your being awake is a temporary condition. No other facility will be able to care for you after the inevitable."

"Inevitable what?" As soon as the words left his mouth, they left her's. What exactly was going to happen to them now? Contract or not, she didn't remember signing up to keel over dead because of nothing. ...even if she didn't clearly recall a contract.

The Doctor's smile was met with a wink as she dutifully followed behind. He, at this point, was a goal. Someone to know. Someone with information. She listened intently, pretty sure this bonding thing sounded awesome and wondering if she could get some bonding time with him. If she didn't even remember how long she was in her pod, how long had it been since she'd had a little fun with a man?
"Pretty sure tha guy who runs the lab can tell us to call him whateva he wants." Cee canted her head back towards the rude alpha male. He must feel threatened by the doctor's superiority. With questions of life or death in the air she imagined it had to be hard to try and maintain machismo.
Lame.
"I feel like I had a crazy a** dream.." Cee clasped her hands behind her and there was a bit of girlish enthusiasm in her steps. "..is that normal? Like maybe from those things we were in?" Behind her back her finger gestured towards the pods. She was the type who was unable to talk without always moving her hands.

Joy might have been the only one in the room not entirely offended by the fart. She might have even snickered and suggested the Pods, they resembled one of those portalets she'd seen on the roads. Only not this weird shade of pink, which was possibly the only shade of pink she didn't like.
But the door opened and in came in a guy with a face that belonged in the movies. As a contrabida, definitely a contrabida, she thought to herself. And that was when Lydia fainted. Instinctively, Joy heading over to help the poor woman up while everyone was just... walking over her!? Jesus Christ, these people, Joy could only shake her head.
And her eyes narrowed at the off-handed remark -what was that about being a freak? Thankfully, someone came (or was ordered) to carry Lydia and Joy took this as her cue to follow the others out of the room.
"How many of us are there?" Joy asked, though not expecting to get an answer, judging by the way H was responding.

She shrugged and then nervously, reflexively went for her cell phone - which was obviously not in any pocket. That alone as enough to betray how much the simple confrontation had surprised and unnerved her. She really did not remember signing any forms at all, and if she did, what on earth had they said - this wasn't some shady internship gig was this?
"Must be my astigmatism," she lied, giving excuses, of course it wasn't her fault, "what is it that your company does again?" She reached to tuck a strand of hair back into the messy disheveled ponytail (she hadn't noticed). This attempt alone took her four tries.

"Save the world," the doctor pushed open the building doors and began to lead them across the grounds toward what looked like a half destroyed town.

“I have a pulse!” he called after the retreating blushing Kelly. “I think that’s… at least a sign im not part of the zombie apocalypse?” The reply to his question about elimination though? Well, it wasn’t the most comfortable reply, or the most comforting. “… we signed a consent form? Why don’t I remember that?” he asked anxiously. The fact that the world was…half ruined did nothing to assuage the thoughts and suspicions that the world HAD in fact suffered some kind of zombie apocalypse; what if they were supposed to be some kind of zombie typhoid Mary who was not quite human and yet not quite a …zombie either, but something else yet unknown by societies tales of dead rising? “S…. save the world from what? Zombies? We aren’t going to become zombies because we woke up early are we? I mean she did …call us that. More than that…exactly what…SHE said.” He pointed at the girl whom had spoken before. “Inevitable what please… I don’t thin any of us can leave that go.”

It was only a few seconds, and maybe she had stayed down a little longer then that simply out of embarrassment. Indeed, her face was quite red when somebody came to her aid, though she waved them off and staggered up unsteadily to her feet, her hair all askew, or at least, more askew then usual. Freaks. He had called them freaks before she had collapsed. Well, she couldn't have argued with him over that. At least, she had heard similar said about herself so many times now, it felt almost familiar to be called so again. "Woops ok I'm up!" She called out to all of those who likely didn't give a damn if she was up or if she had just stayed on the floor forever. "Minor injuries obtained!" She sort of slap flailed the one attempting to help her away, before jog clopping her way up to the others to catch up, not wanting to miss the tour. She very not at all sneakily stumbled into place next to Wyatt, listening to H but also curious about the others. "So were you rescued too? On the island, I mean." She asked, making small talk, while mentally storing away everything Dadd---wolf-ma--- H had to say. "Oooohhhhh saving the world. How exciting!" She gasped, clapping her hands together with another giggle snort. Oh well this town looked rather...ravaged. The sight if it gave Lydia a mental flashback to screams and roars, to creatures attacking buildings laid out in a jungle environment.... "I hope there's no dragons here. I don't have a shotgun handy." She suddenly squeaked.

"Oh you can't let that go? That's tragic. Item one," the doctor raised a finger as he walked, "you should not be awake! Item two, it is a temporary condition. Thus the inevitable would be..." a flourish full of scathing cheer, "...you will return to the state which required those pods for your continued survival."
He spun, arms gesturing widely, "When I ignore your questions it's because they are either already answered and you're simply stupid, or because I don't feel they're worth my time at the given moment." He turned back, still marching them along as a brisk pace, "You're quite lucky this is a long walk."

Melody kept her skirt hiked up just enough to not hinder her too badly as she sped up to keep with the flock. She wasn't so keen on possibly dying if she so happened to get lost. Her attention drawn back to H just in time to hear his last statement. Save the world? Hah. She couldn't help the smirk that curled at the ludicrous statement. It wasn't going to happen. Especially not with recruits like... well, she had to be careful not to insult herself. At least she wasn't the one fainting.

Ignored. Fabulous. At least someone had the decency to ask again. Because yes, she did NOT want to drop it. And they got a smart mouthed answer. Great, back to sleep? She didn't particularly plan on it. Though the whole 'saving the world' bit was important. "Least you're doing something useful." She chimed, pausing at the scene. "Needs some work though." She added, glancing up at the Doctor in charge.
Really, letting the whole place get demolished was NOT her idea of saving anything. And then there was the return of the lady who'd fallen flat over. Naptime was apparently over. Huh. Though now that she looked at it, aside from the fact everything was sort of... yea not there. It was a peculiar view she had. Some odd glowing blue stuff etched here and there. Not unlike the ones on the pods. And now that she thought about it she was seeing those markings everywhere. She idly tapped at her lips, still following after as she trailed behind. "So what blew it all up?" Well, it wasn't blown up, but it certainly looked a bit like some monster flick thing may have wandered through.

"If you wish for an entire history of what has blown up what, please wait for someone who has the patience for your inanity. I imagine there is at least one in particular who will indulge you. I'm not one of them, but there are those here who simply love to treat newcomers and questionable experiments such as yourself like family."

Save the world? This place looked half-dead, well past the point of saving. He had to question to himself again: just how long had he been out for? And what the hell happened? And... "Where is this place?" Wyatt asked. Was he brought here? He tried to remember, but could only recall vague images that didn't quite piece together. "I don't know about rescue from an island," he started, unclear on her meaning. "But if you do find a shotgun, let me know. I know my way around a powerful weapon." Wyatt winked to Lydia with a sly grin. His skills with a shotgun might come in handy if they were pressed into a tight spot - but the woman's warning that their condition of being awake is only temporary made any resistance seem useless.

And people were just believing him now.
Xi had absolutely nothing to say that was useful because she was absolutely one-hundred percent dumbfounded. It wasn't as if she was a genius (which she sometimes was) as so much that everyone else, and mostly everyone else she had ever had the misfortune of meeting in her life was just so unfortunately stupid. Like this was beyond stupid. Someone just went ahead and said they were saving the world and everyone was just going to believe them?
The second she got access to the internet of any kind this was all going down in the forums. This was ridiculous. This was one of those stories that probably made good reddit material on the level of people trying too hard. If she had missed a memo it must have been the memo of - oh good they were talking about zombies now. She very quietly stared at the buildings in the background and tried her best to look for any flaws that made them obviously fake.
"I hope if there are zombies," Xi finally concluded, all sarcasm, "that at they are at least convincing zombies."
endejester sort of addressing the zombie comment
