Micheal woke up a little later than usual. He knew the day was going to be bad as soon as he went down stairs. His older brother started an argument with him and of course his parents sided with his brother. "Screw off!" He yelled then left the house. He walked to school that day. Once at school he saw Alyssa. He gave her the slightest nod possible before walking down the hall and ignoring everyone else. Finally the first period began and he went to his usual seat.

Alyssa looked at him and noticed the slight nod but didn't react to it. She walked to her class and sat in her seat glad her body had at least one day to night to rest. She grabbed her notebook and pencil and tried to ignore the states and whispers she was attracting because of her arm. She kept her face hidden and her head down.

Micheal was already in a bad mood and the whispers about Alyssa's arm weren't helping. Still, he sat in silence; barely moving an inch all period. Once the bell rang for class to end, he got up and left quickly. He needed to hit something soon or he was going to explode. Thankfully he had gym next and the teach let him go to the weight room for the period. The gym teacher was one of the very few people in school that Micheal actually liked and got aling with.

Alyssa sighed once class ended and grabbed her things being the last one to leave the room. She walked to her next period and sat in the back. Sometimes she wished she could just skip school and get away but she knew that would be a bad idea. She was so stressed out all the time from worrying about not doing anything to cause a beating, to avoiding people, school work, her emotional and physical problems. It was too much for her. Honestly she was surprised she hadn't killed herself yet although the thought often crossed her mind.

Once again lunch came and Micheal was in a bit of a better mood. He went to the cafeteria and got his lunch then walked around for a bit, lettiing Alyssa get to the classrom first. Once he walked in he glanced at her and sat down. "How are you feeling?" He asked though he could guess on how she was feeling.

Alyssa didn't bother to go to get her lunch today. She had made herself depressed thinking about the life she was living. She honestly wondered why she tried to keep going. What was the point? She looked up when Micheal walked in. "Same" was all she said as she sighed leaning against the window looking out. She wondered if she really could last the rest of the school year.

Glancing over at Alyssa, Micheal coukd see sge had a lot on her mind. He git up and went ti the desk ib front of her. "You can talk to me Alyssa. I'll lusteb to anything you want to say." He told her as he sat on the desj and offered her a bite of his sandwich.

Alyssa looked at him and sighed looking at her hands. The palms still cut up. "I'm wondering why I don't just give up...I keep pushing myself and I honestly don't see a reason to...I hate my life and I don't want to live it anymore" she said honestly. She was ready to just break already. She wasn't sure how much she could take.

Micheal listened as Alyssa spoke. He got up and went over to her, thougbt for a moment then gently took her hand in his. "I know its hard to keep going. I've been down that riad a few times. But it can get better. Sometimes you have to force it." Ue told her, his eyes staring deep into hers. "I'll help you prove that." He said.

Alyssa looked at him and stiffened a bit when he held her hand. She wasn't used to being touched. "How do I force it to be better? I can't force myself out of this one" she said looking at him. She blushed when he stared into her eyes. "How are you so sure we an?" She asked him. She wanted to believe him but it was so hard.

micheal kept his hand on Alyssa's. "You'll find a way. Your situatio. a different than mine, but I can tell you're stronger than you let on." He told her. He believed it too. She had to have some inner strength to keep going on and not end it all. "Because I'll be with you. Whenever you need me, I'll be there." He said then thought for a moment. "How well can you remember phone numbers?" He asked her.

Alyssa looked at him as she listened to him talking. "Stronger than I let on?" she said not so sure about that. "Why are you doing this Micheal? You hardly know me but you talk like i'm something important to you" she said.

Micheal thought for a moment. Why did he care so much? Was it because he hates seeing girls hurt, especially when they're physically abused. "Because I hate seeing people in pain. And no one else seems to care about you. I know what that's like. We don't have the same life, but we have similarities. I don't want to see another person suffer by themselves." He told her as he looked down at their hands.

Alyssa watched him think. "I doubt you don't have anyone to care about you" she said as she looked at him then followed his gaze to their hands and blushed again. "I really dont know what to do..." she said since her step-dad was so horrible.

"I may have a family, but not a single one cares about me. I have no friends and everyone is afraid of me. I doubt people care about me." He said and laughed a little. "What exactly is happening to you?" He asked her. If he knew maybe he could help.
